At Risk of Discovery
Meanwhile across the Galaxy on the planet of Dromuund Kaas, the Sith Empress sat upon her throne listening with a vague interest in the idea that Admiral Tarkin was suggesting.
"Empress, I implore you that a Hyperspace Tracker can give us the advantage over the Republic that we need in this war," Admiral Tarkin stated in an almost pleading fashion as he tried to gauge Jaira's reaction to the proposal.
Jaira sat there in silence for a few moments before she spoke, "I have no doubt that this idea of yours would be beneficial to the Empire."
Admiral Tarkin's chest filled with excitement at this statement but the feeling was short-lived when the Empress continued.
"However, I cannot ignore the question of whether such a device is possible to be created," Jaira added in a serious tone and she turned to one of her servants, "Go fetch Giles," she ordered. The servant bowed slightly and then departed the throne room at a steady pace, disappearing through the huge double doors. The hall fell into a heavy silence for the next few minutes as Admiral Tarkin waited with baited breath for the Doctor's arrival and they did not have to wait long for the servant to return with Doctor Giles Thatch.
"Empress," the Doctor greeted Jaira humbly as he came to a stop next to the Admiral, "You requested my presence?"
"Yes, Admiral Tarkin has suggested an idea for inventing a device that can track other ships through Hyperspace," Jaira revealed and Giles raised his eyebrows in surprise at the idea, "Can it be done?" Jaira asked seriously.
Giles took a few moments to think through the idea before giving his answer, "I'm sorry Empress but I don't know whether it is possible at this current time with the technology that we have," he paused momentarily, "However I would be happy to do more research and see what can be done," he added.
"Very well, once the research is done report back to me. You are both dismissed," the Sith Empress stated firmly and within a few moments Jaira was alone with her own thoughts. However, it was not long before the silence in the throne hall was broken by the sound of a holocall coming through her own private terminal.
"Answer it!" Jaira growled at the servant who had been standing unmoving next to her.
"Of course, Empress," the servant said softly as she ran forward and scrambled to answer the call which revealed a hologram of Senator Orn Free Taa. Then the servant left the throne room quickly as she knew that staying during this conversation would result in her being punished by the Empress.
"Senator Taa," Jaira greeted with a sly smile on her face, "What can I do for you?"
"My lord, I am afraid the Republic have started to suspect the activities on Ryloth," the Senator revealed.
"Well I am not surprised especially when I told you to keep them away from Ryloth for as long as possible," Jaira stated as she showed little interest in what the Twi'lek was saying.
The Senator mumbled something incoherent which caused Jaira to frown heavily, "What did you just say?" she demanded.
"The Republic have sent a team of Jedi and Agents to investigate what is happening on Ryloth," Senator Taa said at such a fast pace that the words blended together to the point where they were almost one word.
The Sith Empress saw red as her anger started to boil over, "You insolent fool!"
The holo image of the oversized Twi'lek visibly cowered away from the fury even though he was on the other side of the Galaxy.
"Please have mercy?" Senator Taa begged feebly in a desperate attempt to save his own neck.
Jaira breathed heavily for a few moments as she tried to calm down but the calm that took over her did not give the Senator much comfort, "You must do everything possible to keep the Republic from finding those storehouses. If you don't succeed then no Republic prison will be able to keep you safe from what is coming to you," Jaira growled dangerously.
"Yes, of course, my lord," Senator Taa said as the holocall ended and Jaira was once again alone with her own thoughts. The Sith Empress sat there upon her throne as she took deep breaths to calm herself down from the rage that had consumed her. After a few moments, she pressed a few controls on the armrest of her throne which made the holoterminal to contact the members of the Force Born who were currently overseeing the operations on Ryloth. The call was answered quickly as two holograms appeared of the twin brothers, Namut and Taevo.
"Empress," they both greeted as they knelt down onto one knee and bowed their heads respectfully.
"The Republic have sent a team of Jedi and Agents to investigate Ryloth. I have ordered the Senator to keep them away from the storehouses but if they find them I want you to destroy everything including this investigation team," Jaira ordered, "Leave no trace of our presence on the planet. Am I understood?" she asked.
Namut and Taevo glanced at each other for a moment and then looked back at the Empress, "It will be done Empress," they responded.
"Good, I will contact others myself with their own objectives," Jaira informed them.
"Of course," the twins responded and then the holocall was ended promptly. Most would argue that the twin brothers were not ready for a mission of such magnitude but the Sith Empress firmly believed without any doubt that any of her children would have been able to complete this mission with their eyes closed. Within seconds the terminal beeped again as Jaira awaited the next person to answer her call with a very detailed list of orders.
