Prince of The Yotsuba: Alternative

Disclaimer I don't own Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

Admiral Bolin Feng stood on the bridge of his Command ship. He was watching passively as his fleet bombard a large building with as much ammunition as his fleet is capable of.

That building contained the leaders of the Japanese Magical Community. The clan heads of the Ten Master Clans, as well as heads of the 18 Assistant Houses.

With those people gone, the Great Asian Union would be a step closer in having Japan under Union control, by force if necessary.

This act of aggression was a gamble in the side of the Union, but to bring a nation like Japan, a nation rich of quality magical genetics, under the Asian Union control, all gambles are acceptable.

In fact, this bombardment was Plan B.

Plan A was to send several squads of GAU soldiers to the building to capture or eliminate the Clan Heads. Preferably capture for ransom and/or strong-arm negotiation. The squads were armed to the teeth with Antinite to prevent the Clan Heads from defending themselves with their magic.

From the communication that he was receiving, the initial plan was going well. The soldiers that they sent were able to apprehend a few of the Clan heads, but the moment their people attempted to touch the infamous Yotsuba Maya, all contact with the soldiers died almost instantaneously.

It died after a few screams echoed in the communication link.

Feng waited for a few minutes before he informed his superiors of the failure of their initial plan.

His superiors ordered the bombardment soon after.

So, for 30 minutes, the building was assaulted with every kind of ammunition that his fleet could spare.

Was it a bit much?

Yes, it is, but Japanese Magicians were infamous for their resiliency.

Better safe than sorry.

When the bombardment reaches the 35-minute mark, Feng gave an order to cease the attack.

After all, they need some ammunitions in their way out of Japanese borders.

Confident that the deed was done, Feng ordered a retreat even before the smoke from the bombardment was cleared.

No one, not even Japan's vaunted magicians could survive that level of bombardment.

As his fleet began their retreat, a massive blast of energy went past his flag ship, hitting and sinking four ships in a matter of seconds.

The beam was so power that it shook his flagship by merely passing by it.

The beam was so powerful that those four ships that it hit were vaporized upon contact

Turning to the source of the blast, Admiral Bolin Feng was met with an impossible sight.

The building that his fleet was bombarding just seconds ago was untouched, undamaged, not a single scratch on it.

That alone was an impossibility considering that they unloaded enough payload upon the building to level several city blocks.

But the most impossible sight before him was rip straight out of a fantasy book.

On top of the building was a dragon.

The dragon is mastodonic and has an entire upper body covered in black, round, scales, which, in turn, are decorated by spiraling, silver markings. Its lower body, specifically its chin, chest, stomach, inner tail, thighs, and arms, are gray in color, and appeared to have a smooth surface. The dragon's eyes were white and beady, and its head is round and blunt with four, large, elongated plates extending backward. The dragon opened its mouth, revealing a set of razor-sharp teeth, and, attached to its chin, is a protrusion that resembles an arrowhead. Its large wings are feathery in appearance, akin to that of bird. The scales disappear at the end of the dragon's tail, which, in itself, ends in a stinger-esque shape.

The GAU Admiral blink in disbelief as said dragon level a look at his fleet.

Feng, for a moment, thought that the dragon was a mere illusion.

That thought disappeared when said dragon opened its mouth, and from said mouth, a concentrated beam of crimson-orange flames was unleash towards the nearest ship besides his command ship.

Regardless of the durability and shielding of the ship, as well as its many features design to protect it from high and low temperatures, the flames that the Dragon exhaled burned and melted the ship to a molten metallic slab.

With a flap of its wings, the Dragon flew at the GAU Fleet, and the last thing Admiral Bolin Feng saw was the crimson eyes of the Dragon.

(Scene Change)

A 29-year-old Yotsuba Maya watched with mix expressions as her adorable, one years old son decimate the fleet that tried (and miserably failed) to harm her.

Her sister and uncle too, to a lesser degree.

And her colleagues too to an even a lesser degree than the one previously, but most of them are inconsequential anyway.

A large part of Maya was happy that her son would bend and smash through space and time to protect her from danger.

Maya did not expect her lovely son to teleport to her side if ever she was threatened, but she should have expected it.

He loves her very much after all.

He is adorable that way.

In that regard, her beautiful Tatsuya had already proven to be a better man that her former fiancée.

At the age of one at that.

Smashing through space to protect his lovely mother, as expected from her noble son.

Another large part of her was ecstatic that her son would kill to prevent harm from befalling upon her.

Again, in that regard, her son was above and beyond her former love.

It was glorious to watch while her son butcher the people that thought it was a good idea to touch her, much less harm her. The sight of her son's minions tearing through those insects, with her son leading them was such a glorious sight.

She could have used that 16 years ago.

But another part of her was a bit irritated that her son had to make his debut earlier than she would have preferred or intended.

The sight before her, her son's magnum opus, decimating a fleet an enemy fleet is wonderful to behold. An inspiring sight of pure familial love that her son has for her.

That said, that Magician in her notices that her son still lacks finesse and elegance to truly be called magnificent.

The Magic that her son was displaying was brute force personified, clumsy but effective.

Maya would have preferred to teach her son the art of subtlety in his destruction.

It was still a remarkable feat though considering that the caster is a mere one year old.

Maya's train of thoughts was interrupted when one of her son's spiritual constructs (a familiar conjure on a whim by her son) took a step forward to stand in front of her.

Her son, being such a loving boy, left a few guards to protect her in the form of Spiritual Constructs. Said constructs took the shape of knights, complete with swords and shields.

Maya made a mental note to give her son more visual materials to give his constructs a more appealing aesthetic.

Knights are good and all, but they are a bit cliché.

The gesture the spirit made was an unnecessary, truly. No one in the building, much less in the building that she was in has the capacity to beat her in a straight fight, much less kill her, but it was the thought that counts.

At least her son knows of his priority.

Maya hid a grin as her son's spiritual construct stopped her sister from approaching her via leveling a sword to her throat.

The frozen expression on her twin's eyes was delightful to say the least, and a part of her wanted the Familiar to run its blade through her throat, but alas, her sister still has her uses, and if nothing else, she was still a warm body that she enjoys sporadically.

Sister they may be, but sex is sex, and they are women with very particular needs, and if nothing else, Maya enjoys hate sex with her creator.

"She's your aunt, Darling." Maya spoke softly. "She is safe." Maya added after a second when the construct did not retract its blade from her sister's throat.

With military precision, the Spirit construct retracted its blade from Miya's throat before resuming its position to Maya's right, standing protectively besides her.

Maya hummed in delight as she refocuses her attention back to her son.

Said son just summoned a hurricane that sent a few ships to the air.

Creative, though unimaginative.

Another thing that she and her son needs to work on.

She cannot wait to teach her son the art of murder.

And magic, but murder first.

"That's your son?" Miya whispered harshly.

"He is my son." Maya corrected her twin. "Don't talk as if my son is an object, a mere thing. He is not. He is flesh and blood, my flesh and blood." Maya stated, both pride and indignation in her voice.

Pride that her son was such a blessing, and indignation of what her sister was implying.

From her defiled and broken womb, she gave life to her Tatsuya. She did not create him in any artificial means.

From the hardship and trauma that she had face in her youth, Maya believe that she earned the right to have a son like Tatsuya.

Before Miya could speak further, a loud roar reverberated through the building.

The Yotsuba Twins turned their attention to the bay that once stood a foreign military fleet.

They witness as the last ship was sunk and the dragon roared in triumph.

Maya clapped with sadistic glee as said Dragon turned its attention back to the building.

It shot towards the building, but before the people around her could panic, the Dragon disappeared in a silver burst of fire.

And in a second flash of silver fire, inside the building this time, a one years old child wearing an adorable dragon onesie appeared before Maya.

Said baby was floating just below Maya's impressive chest.

Said child possesses brownish, black hair and cerulean blue eyes. Said child has a round face, with a healthy amount of baby fat on his body.

Said child also wore an expression that showed one emotion.

Boredom, utter boredom.

Said child looked up and lock gazes with Maya.

Maya cooed at him and the child merely raise his arms at her, the expression in his eyes changing from boredom to demanding.

With a girlish squeal that most in the room would never associate with the infamous Queen of Night, Maya grabbed the hovering baby and took him into her arms. Maya began cuddling with the child, and said child adopted a fond exasperated expression on his face as he patted his apparent mother on the cheek affectionately.

Most would never associate a child, much less a baby, having such expression.

Most would not expect a child to be comfortable in the arms of one Yotsuba Maya.

Feeling the attention being directed at him, said child turned his gazed to the people in the room. His sapphire eyes leveling everyone in the room with a look that can be describe as predatory. A second later, a burst of silver flame surrounded his small frame. From said flames, a reptile-like tail with a bladed tip emerged, and said tail began to hover threateningly over him and Maya.

Maya, noticing this, giggled lovingly.

"Tat-chan, Darling, they are my colleagues. They are safe." Maya assured her son.

Her son looked at her directly in the eyes for a second before the construct over them disappeared with a flash of silver.

Tatsuya then busied himself in playing with his mother's overly long hair.

Maya smiled contently at this. "Good boy." Maya whispered as she lovingly and possessively held her son.

This image was difficult to comprehend by those around them.

Maya, as she held onto her child, looked almost normal.

(Scene Change)

Miya stared at the child her twin sister claimed as her son.

Said boy was staring back at her unblinkingly while being carried by a fully cloak spiritual construct that said boy summoned.

It was creepy in a way, but Miya reminded herself that said boy only had Maya for company for a full year, so weird social habits are to be expected.

Yes, Miya considered a single year to be too much for anyone to have Maya as company. She barely tolerated being in Maya's company for an hour.

That said, Miya was slowly believing that this child was her sister's.

The baby's resemblance to their late father was uncanny, almost unnerving.

Change the eyes from blue to red, and this child before her would be the exact image of her late father.

"I don't remember Maya-san consulting any of our people for an artificial baby." The former head of the Yotsuba Clan, Yotsuba Eisaku stated as he looked warily at the child that bore his late older brother's face to a terrifying degree.

Said child did not looked at his granduncle and merely continue looking at Miya.

"And he looks too much like Tou-sama for us to accuse Maya of kidnapping." Miya added, eyes not leaving the babe's.

A memory suddenly surfaces in Miya's head.

"A year ago, Maya requested to live away from the estate for a while, did she not?" Miya asked her uncle.

After her tragedy, Maya rarely leaves the Yotsuba's main estate. Even when she was attending high school and university, Maya, without fail, always returns to the estate. Even when she was an active agent in the family, Maya never stayed away from the Main Estate for long.

It surprised everyone in the family when Maya, out of the blue, requested a temporary relocation from the main residence, citing that she wanted to stretch her wings before she inherits the Clan Headship. Eisaku and Miya was suspicious of this request, as it deviated from this Maya's normal modus operandi, but he allowed it, as this would provide some relief to servants.

Maya is not a cruel master, but her bouts of psychosis made her an unpredictable and terrifying master, and Eisaku knew that a bit of space between her and the servant would do everyone some good.

Eisaku allowed it, and for a period of a year, Maya lived in one of their rural properties in Hokkaido.

Eisaku assumed that this experience was good for Maya. When she returned to the main estate after her year away, Maya mellowed considerably, her bouts of psychosis lessening greatly.

Looking at the child that Maya claimed to be hers, Eisaku assumed that having a son did wonders on her psyche.

"Do you recall Maya-san ever having a lover?" Eisaku inquired carefully.

"You mean aside from me in occasions?" There was no love between the Youstuba twins. Their love for each other died a death after Dahan. Still, they were both extremely beautiful women, and with Maya having previously shown disgust in ever having a partner again and her being cucked by her husband, there were some certain needs that they had to satisfy with each other.

It was an open secret that the Yotsuba twins fuck each other, but nobody in the family has the courage to speak of it.

The last one to mention did not survive Maya's ire.

Eisaku nodded in confirmation, not saying anything in the matter.

"After Kouichi, I can't recall Maya ever being interested in anyone." Miya answered, not comprehending the idea of Maya ever welcoming anyone in her bed.

Yes, she and Maya shares a bed in occasions, but whenever they copulate, there was no love or care, just instincts and pursuit of pleasure.

"If I take a sample of Tatsuya-kun's D.N.A…"

"Maya would kill you." Miya stated, a glare in the corner of her eyes that was directed at her uncle.

She did not know of the dynamic between Maya and her son, but Miya knew enough that her twin would not hesitate to kill anyone that would bring harm to him.

Eisaku frowned at that statement. "Considering what we saw this child is capable of, having access to Maya's donor would be prudent."

That is true.

A child, in his infancy, already capable of such potent magic, unrefined and crude it might be, is a prize that is impossible to deny.

Miya frowned as her stare on her nephew intensified.

Said child merely continue to stare at Miya with blanks eyes.

With a somewhat robotic gesture, the child raised both of his arms at Miya. The spiritual construct that was carrying him raise him to Miya's direction, as if offering him to her.

Without breaking eye contact with the child, Miya took her nephew and carried him in her arms.

Miya considers this a victory.

"I don't think this child's father is alive."

Maya is selfish, very selfish, and the fact that she did not announce that she was pregnant and had a son to the family was an indication that she had full intention of raising her son on her own, without anyone in the family knowing.

Considering what she had seen, Miya would make sure that her nephew would not be solely raise by her sister.

Considering what the child is already capable of and the vast potential that he possesses, that is a calamity waiting to happen.

(Scene Change)

"You have a son?"

After relocating the Ten Masters Conference to a new and more secure location, the most senior member of the Ten Master Clans, Kudou Makoto, ask the question that everyone in the room was desperately wanting to know the answer to.

Maya could only roll her eyes in annoyance at one of her most boring colleagues. In every parameter and metric, his father was better than him. "Yes, I do. His name is Tatsuya, Yotsuba Tatsuya. I had him a year ago, and before any of you ask, he is the only child that I could or would ever have." That was no longer a sour subject for Maya. Against all odds, against the cruelty of the world, she was able to have a son, and her son is quality.

She is satisfied.

"Your son is capable of doing magic at the age one?" One of her colleagues whose name Maya did not even bother recalling ask in wonderment.

"He was already capable of Spirit-Base Magic the moment I gave birth to him." Her son was capable of more, but she was not willing to divulge that information to her colleagues. They had seen enough. "I do not know how my Darling son would develop, but I am assuming that he is a Born Specialist Magician, with his magic leaning towards Spirit Base Magic."

Actually, her dear Tatsuya was capable of performing three kinds of magic, but she was not willing to give that information to her colleagues. Her telling them that her son was a Born Specialist Magician should be enough.

"You have quite a capable child." Maya's irritation grew tremendously at the sound of that aggravating voice. Looking at the boy that she once foolishly fancied, she was greeted by the sight of one Saegusa Kouichi giving her a questioning look.

Maya was tempted to put a hole between his eyes.

"Do we know who the father is?" Saegusa asked politely.

"I don't think that is any of your business." Maya answered with cold cordiality.

A tension arose from the brief exchange between the two former lovers. Everyone in the room were aware of the relations that this two shared, both past and present, and it was jarring to have the country's two best magicians hating each other.

Well, Maya hated the Saegusa head.

To his credit, Kouichi's private opinion of his former fiancée was a mystery, though those with sharp intuitions could guess well what his feelings for her are.

It was sad and pathetic really.

Still, the two are far from cordial.

"But, if any of you must know, my son has no father. He does not need one. He has me to raise him to a splendid young man, and that is enough." Maya then leveled everyone with a look. "And yes, I had a partner in conceiving him, and said partner was compensated handsomely for his great contribution in my life, but whoever I welcome in my bed is no one's business but my own." Maya stated strongly before sitting leisurely on her chair.

"That said, me having a son is not the topic that we should be discussing right now." Maya exclaimed, effectively ending the subject. "We need to discuss the lineup for the Ten Master Clans, as well as how such worms and barbarians were able to sneak into our country. I suggest that we pursue the reason why we are gathered here today."

A sly smirk grace Maya's lips.

"Is there anyone who would dispute the Yotsuba Clan maintaining its position in the Ten Master Clans?" Maya asked challengingly, although she already know the answer.

Tatsuya's mere existence alone would assure the Yotsuba Clan's position within the Ten Master Clans.

(Scene Change)

Tatsuya was a well behaved infant.

It was a strange sight considering her own daughter was far from being well behave.

Still, Tatsuya did not make a fuss and quietly remained in her grip.

In other news, he was no longer staring at her.

Miya would claim, in a moment of childishness, that his nephew was the first to look away, and thus, she was able to exert her superiority and dominance over him.

That was her sole moment of childishness for the month.

Still, the Yotsuba contingent stood patiently as they waited for Maya to emerge from the conference room.

This was Maya's first Master Clans Conference, and considering what happened earlier, they did not want any more surprises.

A few hours ago, the new line up for the 18 Assistant Houses vacated the conference room. From the those who exited, Miya could already tell that there was a significant change in the lineup.

Two clans were demoted, meaning that another two clans were promoted to the Ten Master Clans lineup.

Each head of the 18 Assistant Houses gave the Yotsuba Contingent a curious look, their eyes focus on Tatsuya.

Tatsuya, in Miya arms, returned those gazes with the flattest, most threateningly looked that Miya was pretty sure Maya taught him.

Tatsuya was arguably the scariest baby in the world.

Considering that he has an army of spiritual construct around him and considering that he could wipe out a fleet of ships at the mere age of one, that claim has merits.

Fortunately, due to Tatsuya's blatant hostility, no on approach them.

The Yotsuba Contingent waited for four hours after the 18 Assistant Houses vacated the Conference Room before their Clan Head emerged from the meeting room, a look of utter irritation upon her typical beautiful smile.

Maya was not hiding her displeasure.

The moment Maya stepped out of the conference room, she immediately walked towards where her son is, and to an extent, a very lesser extent, where her family is.

Without any words, Maya took Tatsuya from Miya's arms, not even giving her sister a look.

"You're welcome." Miya grumbled in exasperation, already use at how dismissive her twin is towards her.

Maya did not even give her twin a look as she peppered her son with kisses. "Okaachan is sorry that she left you with such a dull sitter!" Maya apologized to her son as she continued to shower Tatsuya with kisses.

Miya swore that she saw her nephew rolling his eyes in exasperation.

Miya didn't blame him. Maya can be such a vexing child at times.

It took a while for Maya to calm down but when she did, she gave her son a look.

"Shall we go home?" Maya asked her son lovingly.

Before anyone in the Yotsuba group could react, i.e. offering to escort Maya to their vehicle, Tatsuya was suddenly surrounded in silver flames.

From said flames, four cloak figures emerged, and those figures shimmered with silver light.

In seconds, a portal appeared behind Maya.

For a second, Miya caught a glimpsed of Maya's personal bedroom in the Yotsuba Main Residence before her sister, with a grin, took a massive step back into the portal.

The portal closed a second later, and in seconds of its closing, the construct around the Yotsuba Contingent disappeared in a silver mist.

Miya, and those who witness such a sight, could only stare on where the Yotsuba head disappeared to.

"Teleportation?" Eisaku asked, god smacked at what he had seen.

He had seen that magic earlier but seeing it in such close proximity was something else.

"Apparently so." Miya confirmed before noticing the looks that they were receiving.

She was not going to enjoy the next few hours.

(Scene Change)

A soft, exhausted moan escape Maya's lips as she submerged herself in her large bathtub.

The moment she returned home, Maya immediately prepared a hot bath before closing every communication terminal that she owns, both personal and business.

She was not in the mood to discuss anything.

She had enough of that with her colleagues.

Speaking of which…

"Next time Darling, if I am threatened, just teleport me away. No need to be so flashy." Maya lectured her son, who was currently floating on the surface of the tub.

From where he was floating, Tatsuya gave his mother a questioning look before a silver wisp of flame floated out of his person.

"[Those animals were going to hurt you. They deserve to die.]" A voice that Maya was pretty sure is going to be her son's once he matures escape the wisp that is now floating above him.

"Yes, they do deserve to die." Maya confirmed, not going to argue with her son about a subject that they both agree on. "But you reveal yourself to people that were not meant to know of your existence…" It was acceptable for Hayama to know that she had a son and it was an irksome compromise for every member of the senate to know of his existence. Aside from those people, Maya was fully committed to hide her son from the world.

The world would only meddle in his development.

It already started as her colleagues had subtly offered betrothals for her beloved son.

Not going to happen!

"[Would you like me to kill them?]" Her son offered casually as said child looked at her curiously.

Maya was flattered with the offer. Having someone willingly kill for you is such a lovely feeling!

And Maya was contemplating the offer. Between her and her son, killing everyone, except for a select few, who had seen him would be easy. She and her lovely boy could make a day of mother and son bonding out of it.

Sadly…

"Not right now…"

But, tempting offer it might be, Maya decline. She knew the senate would be in high alert considering the attack that happened earlier.

In fact, she already knew that there is already a missive from the senate on its way to her.

That will be a fun read.

Still, that is for tomorrow. Now, it is just her and her son, like it should be.

"What do you think of my twin?" Maya asked her darling son.

"[She's stiff, and mama is prettier.]" Tatsuya answered immediately.

Maya giggled before taking her son of the surface of the water and cuddling him lovingly to her bosom.

There would be changes regarding the development of her son, but that would be later. For now, she would just enjoy having the best son in the world in her arms.

Anything that comes after, they would tackle with ruthless efficiency.
