Prince of The Yotsuba: Alternative

Disclaimer I don't own Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

"You must be celebrating down in hell, Ayame-san." Kudou Retsu said as he watched a video recording of the young Prince of the Yotsuba.

Three days had passed since the Ten Master Clans conference was concluded, and the world, especially Japan, was still trying to comprehend what happened and the revelation that came with it.

The Great Asian Union attack the Conference with the intent of crippling Japan's Magical Society.

The death or even the kidnapping of the clan heads of the Ten Master Clans would unquestioningly humiliate Japan's Magical Society and would cripple the military might of the country.

It was fortunate that said travesty did not happen.

And it was all thanks to a toddler that appeared out of nowhere.

For what seems like a hundred times that day, Retsu watched as the hostile soldiers of the GAU leveled their weapons at his former student, one Yotsuba Maya.

Maya, to her credit, did not show an ounce of fear. An impressive display of courage considering the room that she and the rest of the clan heads were saturated with Psion Noise, courtesy of the Antinite that the enemy soldiers were deploying.

Even for them, casting a spell through that quantity of Psion Noise was difficult.

Even Maya, with all her skill and prowess, would be hard press to invoke her Meteor Stream.

Fortunately, she did not have to.

In a flash of Silver Flame, a young babe appeared in front of the newly minted Yotsuba Matriarch.

Said child was covered with Silver Flames as he floated protectively in front of the mildly startled Maya.

As the young child appeared, an army of knights followed in seconds. Said knights were made of the densest pusion particles that Retsu had ever seen.

At their creation, the knights began slaughtering all GAU soldiers with prejudice, with speed and precision that most soldiers would envy. The enemy soldiers anti-magic countermeasures and weapons were trivial against such Pusion density. Antinite ineffective against such magical constructs.

Psion Noise is very effective against Psion-base magic. Not so much against Pusion-based magic, especially against Familiars.

Some GAU soldiers attempted to fire at Maya.

They suffered the worst as, quicker than lightning, a head of a Dragon burst out from the child and savagely bit off the bodies of those soldiers.

A brutal retaliation, but understandable considering the relationship between the child and Maya.

With the slaughter of the enemy soldiers finished, the young child turned his attention towards Maya.

At first, Maya had a look of surprised, and then anger as shown by the narrowing of her eyes. Said anger disappeared quickly as Maya sigh in acceptance before speaking.

"[Darling, that was not necessary.]" Maya stated as she extended her hand and ruffled the young child's head affectionately.

Even through a recording, Retsu could see the startled and disbelief expression on the faces of everyone in the room, especially Maya's twin sister, Miya.

This brief respite was interrupted when a massive wave of silver flames, flames made entirely of Pushion, erupted from the young child.

Retsu pause the video to stare inquisitively at the child and the flames that the child was seemingly producing.

It took an embarrassingly long time for Retsu to decipher that the child was not producing the silver flames.

No, the boy was doing something much more impressive. He was drawing in spirit particles en mass around him, and was manipulating them with such precision and speed it was terrifying.

Retsu did not know how, but Yotusba Maya bore a child that every Ancient Magician Family would kill for just to have.

The Kudou Family included.

With a casual press from his terminal, the video shifted from inside the conference room to an overhead view of the building where the conference was being held.

Retsu frowned at the sight of a military payload flying towards the building but his attention refocused at the sight of a dense and thick pusion barrier encompassing the entire building.

This sight relieved Retsu somewhat.

Not just because this barrier successfully defended the lives of his son and their colleagues but because it showed that the boy, though impressive, still lack the necessary skill, finesse, and technique to wield his power.

That does not detract from what the toddler is currently capable of.

What a terrifying thought.

Retsu watched as the massive Pusion barrier successfully block the bombardment from the GAU ships. As the bombardment ended, Retsu watched as Maya's child teleported outside of the building before the massive Pusion Barrier surrounded the child and reshaped itself to take the form of a Dragon.

What followed next was scene straight out of a Kaiju movie.

The dragon descended and the ships that the GAU deployed to attack the Clans Heads were reduced to scrap.

What pique Retsu's interest was how the boy commanded the elements. Fire, wind, water, ice, lightning was use to decimate the fleet of ships.

Sure, a competent magician could use elemental magic with ease. The use of basic elements were trivial for modern magicians.

That said, the sheer intensity and quantity of which the elements were used was mind boggling and quite impressive, especially considering the one wielding said elements was a child who only has a year of existence in his belt.

As the last ship was sunk, the Dragon flew towards the building, dissipating before it could crash through the building.

Again, Retsu pressed a button in his terminal to show what was happening inside the conference room.

Retsu smiled at the sight of Maya happily embracing her son.

Retsu was honestly happy for his former student. Considering what happened to her, motherhood should not have been possible for her.

Whether she truly carried and birthed the boy in her arms, or she created him from a tube, Retsu was happy that Maya was experiencing the joys of motherhood.

That said, a balance must be maintain, and that boy staying with the Yotsuba is out of the question.

Giving the Yotsuba a Strategic-Class Magician is asking for trouble.

With a sigh, Retsu turned off the recording of the debacle of this year's Ten Master Clans Conference and brought out a new file that contained the names and profiles of young girls affiliated to and with the Kudou Clan. The girls were within the age bracket of Maya's son, ranging from few months younger to at least three years older than the boy.

All the girls in the file would be submitted to the Yotsuba and the senate in hopes of compelling Maya to betroth her son outside of her clan.

Retsu finds this practice distasteful, especially considering that he was trying to pair toddlers to be married, but the need of the many outranks even his morals.

The Yotsuba Clan was already a dangerous entity.

To add a Strategic-Type Magician to their ranks, especially someone who is already capable of this type of destruction at the age of one would greatly disturb the balance within the Numbered Families..

The balance within Japan's Magic Community must be maintain at all cost.

(Scene Change)

Saegusa Naoto is the black sheep among the Saegusa siblings.

The fourth child and the third son of the previous Saegusa head, he was not burdened by the weight of the entire clan.

He was the spare of the spare, and this status allowed him a degree of freedom within the Saegusa Clan.

The freedom included choosing a career of his liking.

Among his siblings, Naoto was not the most talented magician. In fact, compare to his siblings, he was mediocre.

He was called the shame of the Saegusa in his youth.

The only reason he had not lost his number is due to his father's love.

Saegusa Ichika was many things; a cunt, a bastard, shrewd, and conniving, but he loved his wife, children, and clan, and he would do everything for them.

Overlooking his most mediocre child and keeping him within the aegis of the family is nothing for the previous Saegusa clan head.

Regardless of his mediocrity in magic, Naoto pursue a degree in magical education.

What Naoto lacked in talent, he made up for with determination, creativity, and the willingness to learn everything and anything he could about magic and its numerous applications.

With persistence and hard work, Naoto made himself one of the best Magical Instructors in Japan, and he was even the youngest Professor admitted in the National Magic University.

In fact, he was the highest paid Professor currently employed in the National Magic University.

Who would have thought that a person who is considered talentless in magic would be perfect in teaching the subject.

The irony.

Saegusa Naoto was proud of his achievement and the career that he made for himself.

That said, for the first time in a while, Naoto was regretting the career path that he had taken for himself.

"This is too light." His elder brother and clan head, Saegusa Kouichi stated as he threw the folders that contained the curriculum for the magic training of his sons at Naoto.

Catching the folders, Naoto sighed in frustration.

He knew, after the debacle that was this years Ten Master Clans Conference that his brother would be in a foul mood.

Things that involve his brother's former flame, one Yotsuba Maya, always resulted in a headache for the Saegusa and Kouichi's best operatives, most of which were his immediate family..

"The only reason that I am not slapping the taste out of your mouth is because you are my brother." For family, Naoto could and would ignore a professional insult.

He doesn't like it though.

Kouichi snorted at his brother's indignant tone. "You think you can take me?" Kouichi challenged.

"In a magic fight, nope." Naoto said without shame. "In a fist fight, I would probably orphan your children."

Naoto is the weakest magician among his siblings. That is true. That is fact.

He was not even the strongest Magic Combatant in the family.

Kouichi might not look like it, but in a straight battle of magic, nobody in the Saegusa could beat Kouichi.

But in a straight fist fight, well, Naoto was the only one in the family who pursue Martial Arts, and he has multiple black belts to show for it.

It also helps that Naoto was the tallest and most physically built in his immediate family.

With the height of six feet, seven inches, and with the body of a professional fighter, Naoto cut a very intimidating figure.

"You are aware that regardless of how much I push Tomokazu-san and Koujirou-kun, they are not going to catch up to Maya-san's monster, not in terms of power at least." Naoto stated, remembering what the Yotsuba spawn was capable of, at least power wise.

A child, barely a year old, and already a strategic-class magician, Naoto shuddered at the implication. Even if the Strategic-Class Magic was base from Ancient Magic, it was still a dangerous weapon for that psychopath to have.

Worse even considering the Ancient Magic has more hitting power than Modern Magic.

Naoto had met Yotsuba Maya once in the field.

It was the worse experience that he ever had as a field operative of the Saegusa.

He still had the scar from that meeting,

"Do not call that child a monster!" Kouichi scolded his brother, and that harsh tone made Naoto narrow his eyes at his brother.

Naoto focused to the remaining eye of his brother, and he resisted to sigh in irritation.

16 years since their engagement was null, and his elder brother was still in love with the Yotsuba's premiere Demon.

Obsesses might be the better word to describe what his brother was feeling towards Yotsuba Maya.

"I will rework the curriculum, but I will not make it harsher." Naoto grumbled angrily. "I will not compromise the growth and health of my nephews in order to keep pace with those Demons."

As much as Naoto would want to surpass the Yotsuba, at least in the quality of Magicians, to do so, to pursue such path, would lead the Saegusa to an inhumane path.

Kouichi rolled his eyes but nodded nonetheless.

Naoto would take this victory.

"How would you develop Maya's son?" Kouichi asked, and it took Naoto every bit of his self-control not to reached across the table and put his elder brother into a choke hold.

"Shelving that question for a moment, please tell me you are not trying to make a play to engage the Yotsuba's newest toy to my niece." Naoto all but begged.

He hoped that his brother could see how disastrous conducting business with the Yotsuba is.

That artificial eye in his brother's left eye-socket should be a constant reminder how much trouble the Yotsuba is.

"It is a good match…" Naoto groaned at that. "Our princess and the youngest Strategic-Class Magician in the history of the world, what could be a better match than that?"

"My sixteen inch boot up your ass, or my fist down your throat, that would be a better match than what you are proposing." Naoto did not care that he was disrespecting his clan head. He was speaking to him as his brother, and an uncle that did not wish for his favorite niece to be entangled with the fucking Yotsuba.

Taking a deep breath, Naoto speak. "Okay, lets ignore the fact that us and the Yotsuba are an insult, a minor slight away from tearing each other apart…" That is not a fight that Naoto wanted to have, especially considering that new weapon that the Yotsuba currently possesses. "…what reason would Yotsuba Maya have to engage her one and only child to Mayumi-chan? And, I would also remind you, Yotsuba Maya hates you."

The correct word was loathed, but Naoto would rather avoid sprinkling too much salt to his brother's festering wound.

"I would assume that Maya would want the best match for her child." Kouichi exclaimed strongly. "And our Mayumi is the best possible match for any Magician within her age bracket."

Naoto agreed to that sentiment wholeheartedly, but the fact remains that it was a Yotsuba spawn that his brother wanted to ensnare, with the use of his own daughter no less.

Naoto needs a stiff drink.

"Do you have a plan to get the brat?" Naoto would rather avoid this debacle entirely. He wanted to maintain the status quo between the Saegusa and the Yotsuba. The entire clan wanted to maintain the status quo. The relationship with the Yotsuba is tense at best, volatile at its worst, but the Two Pillars of Japan's magical community was able to coexist, even if barely.

But the moment Yotsuba Maya was revealed to have born a child, Naoto should have known that the peace between the Yotsuba and Saegusa are numbered.

"I have a plan." Kouichi assured.

Naoto could only look at his brother in resigned despair.

The last time his brother had that look in his eyes, Naoto was force to fight his way in and out of Europe

Fuck.

Family….

Family can be identified as a noun or an adjective.

Family as a noun means a group of one or more parents and their children living together as a unit, or all the descendants of a common ancestor, or a group of related things.

As an adjective, family means designed to be suitable for children as well as adults.

In the current context, Tatsuya was leaning towards the noun definition of family.

Tatsuya, unlike most babies, remember the day he was born.

For some reason that he could not fathom, his mind began functioning at levels a baby's mind should not be capable of ten seconds after he was out of the womb of his mother.

The first thing that came to his mind was that the lights were too bright.

The second thing that he remembered was after his initial thoughts came to mind, the lights dimmed to an acceptable level.

Strange, but he was thankful.

The third thing that came to his mind was that he liked the feeling of this strange woman holding him.

Said strange woman was his mother.

Tatsuya remembered looking at his mother's eyes. Three months into his life, Tatsuya was able to name the emotions in Yotsuba Maya's eyes as she looked at her one and only son for the first time. The affection, the love, the pride, the possessiveness, Yotsuba Maya looked at him as if he was the most precious treasure in the world.

Considering that Maya considered bearing him into the world as her greatest accomplishment, those thoughts were quite accurate.

At the moment of his birth, Tatsuya regarded his mother with two simple emotions.

Love and curiosity.

The other people in the room with them though, Tatsuya regarded them a nuisance and he willed them to go away.

As he willed it, it was done. In a flash of silver, everyone in the room, aside from him and his mother disappeared into dust.

Tatsuya realized two things after he committed his first murder.

First and foremost, his magic came to him as easy as breathing.

Second, his mother has a very pleasant laugh.

Since his birth, Yotsuba Maya is the only family that Tatsuya had ever known.

Yotsuba Maya is a good mother, a very good mother.

Realizing that her son is a remarkable being, Maya treated him with care and love, spoiling him rotten, while also strictly teaching and training him to reach his full potential.

Maya was very particular in emphasizing the need for him to be powerful.

The first lesson that Maya taught her son was that everything could be achieve with skill, power, and strength.

The second lesson that she taught him was that he should kill everyone that bothers him.

The third lesson is that he should love his family above all else, and considering that Maya is the only family that Tatsuya knows, he should love her above all else.

Yotsuba Maya is a unique mother.

Tatsuya has no problem with that.

Tatsuya, like all children, loves his mother and would do everything in his power to protect her, regardless of how aggravating she is at times.

That being said; Tatsuya was quite ill-prepared when dealing with his other family.

The twin of his mother, the less pretty version of his mother, is pleasant enough. She has the seriousness that he often wishes that his mother would display.

His granduncle is acceptable, though the baffled looked that he was giving him is annoying if he was being honest.

His other aunt is also pleasant, even if they do not share a drop of blood with each other.

Miyuki, his cousin, is lovely and delightful, and he already decided that the girl is his.

He is powerful, and mother had taught him that he can have everything that he wants if he has the power to take, have, and protect it.

His mother is his. Aunt Miya is his. Aunt Aya is his. Miyuki is his.

He was still up in the air if he would accept Granduncle Eisaku as his, but he was tolerable enough so he was at least below the hierarchy of the people that he loves, just below Hayama.

Aside from those four, possibly five, Tatsuya was not impress with his family.

Currently, Maya was carrying Tatsuya in her arms as she formally introduced him to the upper echelons of the family.

12 set of eyes stared at him.

Tatsuya looked at every single one of them.

With the exceptions of three, Miya, Aya and Eisaku, all of them were looking at him with a certain degree of fear and doubt.

Tatsuya does not like the look that he was getting from the majority of his 'family'.

In fact, with one look alone, Tatsuya was quite disappointed with his 'family'.

Tilting his head, Tatsuya gave his mother a look and telepathically communicated one word.

'Kill?' Tatsuya requested, already summoning a dragon's tail with a bladed.

The tension in the room spiked at the casually invocation of magic.

Without a CAD no less.

Maya chuckled at that inquiry.

It was within her expectations.

They were related to some pretty dull people.

Nonetheless, Maya shook her head.

Family is family regardless of how dull they are.

Tatsuya tilted his head to the side.

That was a first.

But Tatsuya figured that his mother would be against the slaughter of their immediate family.

They are blood after all.
