Over the last week or so you'd not been feeling right. It had started off with just a niggling sore throat and a cough, you were never ill and had never taken a sick day so you weren't about to start now. You had come in that very first day, coughing all over the place and sitting down at your desk. You just remember everyone giving you a wide birth when they heard your raspy cough and pathetic sniffles.
"Y/N go home!" Fin had said leaping back as you let out another harsh cough, cringing as he heard the crackling in your throat and chest when you finally manage to get your coughing and breathing under control.
"You're gonna infect the entire squad! I love you and all, but I'm taking Zara camping this weekend and the last thing that I need is you getting me sick!" Nick said softly, getting up and making you a hot sweet tea and bringing it over to your desk. He then completely contradicts himself by rubbing your back sympathetically, a protective almost brotherly instinct flowing through him.
"I'm not going home over a cold... we are short staffed and need all hands on deck! Mom... I mean Liv said so!" You say stubbornly and the two guys frowned; whilst there was a running joke about Olivia being the squad 'Mom' they knew that you'd never actually verbalise it if you were in your right mind.
"Hmm I don't know, Y/N. It seems a bit more than a cold, you're as pale as this sheet of paper and you sound like you're coughing up a lung! I'm sure Liv wouldn't mind!" Amanda said suddenly, making you levitate from your seat in surprise as she suddenly appears out of nowhere.
"Sorry, honey!" She apologises and places a huge chocolate chip muffin in front of you and some pastries in front of Nick and Fin, you'd all been working a lot this week and hadn't eaten much so it was a welcomed surprise.
"Thanks Manda..." You eat the muffin, grimacing at how sore your throat is. The three stare at you with sympathy and concern, grimacing themselves when you cough and whimper again.
"Liv is just going to..." Fin trailed off, seeing your boss and the entire squad's 'Mom' appear from the bathroom, you see her raise her eyebrows and make her way over to you all.
"What are you four up to?" She raises an eyebrow and you cough again, she figures it out pretty quickly and immediately delegates jobs to the other three. She bends down in front of you and places a hand to your forehead which you lean into.
"You're sick, sweetheart. You should be at home resting and getting well, not here working!" She soothed and rummaged through the bottom draw, taking out some cough medicine from the first aid box and making you take it. You grimace at the awful taste and she coos at you, comforting you like you're a small child.
"Really you should go home... Y/N!" She whispers and you don't know what's come over you; you're always a little clingy with Olivia anyway as you've never had a good mom but this was on another level. You fall into her arms and she lets out a small oomph sound as you both sit on the floor, your head tucked under her chin and resting against her beating heart.
"Not well..." You croaked pitifully and she rocks you back and forth in her lap, pressing a kiss to your head and nuzzling your nose as though you're her own baby.
"But I'm not going home... you need everyone here to help!" You close your eyes and breathe in the smell of her flowery perfume, snuggling even closer to your safe place! The person who had always been there to look after you.
"Y/N... look you're exhausted, sick and you're almost asleep on me... maybe..." She soothes softly, having to bite back a laugh when you glance up and petulantly shake your head as though you're a kid having a tantrum.
"Noooo..." you whine and she stands up, still hugging you tight and begins to sway back and forth providing you so much love and comfort.
"Ok... let's compromise. You're on desk duty until you're better and if you get any sicker then I'm taking you home, baby. Is that understood?" She says and you nod, again you don't know what comes over you when you blurt out.
"Yes, Mama..." You blush and she places you back in your chair, pretending not to have heard what you said but secretly loving it.
Unfortunately over a week after that incident and you'd gotten worse now. You were so dizzy, feverish and bordering on delirious. Luckily you had managed to dodge Olivia for most of the week and had kept out of the others way for the most part, until today. You crawl into work and sit at your desk, allowing your head to rest gently against the cool wood. You miss Fin and Nick getting up and heading straight for Olivia's office to tell on you and to tell her just how sick you were now and how you weren't getting any better.
"Y/N..." You hear a faint, soft voice from up above you and you know you're safe! It envelopes you like a warm hug and makes you feel so secure... something you'd not felt very often in your life.
"Mommy?" You mumble pitifully, your voice distorted and slurred due to how sick you were but there was no mistaking what you'd said. You miss Fin, Nick and Amanda's incessant whispering and Olivia angrily hissing at them to be quiet and stop gossiping; can't they see how sick you are?! You feel her pick you up in her arms as though you weigh nothing and hold you tight, pressing comforting kisses against your fevered brow.
"Mommy's here, sweetheart. Mommy's here..." She soothed, holding your head against her neck whilst you whimper and bury even closer to her. You're so cold one minute but then boiling hot the next, you just want 'Mommy'. You hear the other three still incessantly gossiping and you whimper again; even in your fevered state you're absolutely horrified.
"You three stop that now! Y/N is really sick and she doesn't need you gossiping about this! Behave or else!" She threatens and the other three shut up immediately, it was obvious to Olivia that they felt bad.
"I'm taking Y/N back to mine, Fin you're in charge until Elliot gets back from court. Nick and Amanda, behave yourselves!" She called over her shoulder, carrying you out to the car as though you weigh nothing. She puts you down in the car and grimaces sympathetically as you rub your boiling hot face against the cold leather seats.
"I'm sorry..." You croak anxiously and Olivia immediately knows that you're not just apologising for being sick. She climbs in beside you and runs her fingers through your hair in a way you've always liked.
"Don't you ever apologise... we all need to be vulnerable and have someone to look after us sometimes!" She spoke soothingly, reaching into her bag and pulling out a cold bottle of water which she helps you to drink a few sips of.
"But... I called you Mommy!" You croaked again, absolutely mortified and you find yourself encased in her arms and sobbing anxiously. No one had ever taken care of you when you were sick before and it was filling a hole that you didn't know you had.
"I don't mind... really, I don't! I love and care about you Y/N..." Olivia cooed and pulled away, promising you another cuddle once you were back at her apartment. It felt like ages had passed until you were gently lifted out of the car and back into the warm arms that made you feel safe.
"Mommy's here..." She soothed, reinforcing to you that she doesn't mind being your 'Mom' and that secretly she loves it. She carries you up to the apartment and locks the door behind you both, hushing you when you cry out so unused to being sick and having someone looking after you.
"You're burning up, Y/N. I'm going to run you a cool bath and get you changed into some pyjamas, then I'll make you some homemade soup and after that it's straight to bed..." Olivia cooed and you nodded, you just want to be with her and no one else.
"Come on..." She cooed and took you into the bathroom, sitting you on the toilet whilst she fills you up a cool bath. She begins to undress you, only doing so after obtaining your consent which you give so readily; you trust her implicitly and you know even though you're delirious that she's your safe place. She picks you up and plonks you gently into the bath, smiling softly when you gasp and shiver.
"I know, sweetie. You're being so brave!" She cooed and grabbed a flannel, soaking it in cold water and holding it to your head. It felt so nice that you almost doze off and bury your face into her neck.
"Not well..." You croak softly and she presses soothing kisses to your boiling hot face which she quickly cools down with the cold flannel.
"I know, Y/N but we will get you feeling better really soon! I promise... that's it sweetheart!" Olivia whispered, stroking your hair and washing your body. You felt clean and a little better by the time she gets you out, brushes your teeth and lifts you through to her bedroom and gets you dressed in some comfy clothes. She pulls her duvet down and places you in bed, wrapping you up to stop the shivering.
"Would you like tomato soup or chicken noodle?" She said softly, brushing her knuckles up and down against your flushed face. You look up at her and lean into her, all you wanted was to stay close to her.
"Tomato please..." you whisper and she smiles lovingly at you and tells you that she will be right back and to rest. You lay against the pillows and even though you're so I'll you just smile; you had a Mom who loved and gave a damn about you.
Olivia came back in whilst you were dozing off with a big bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese, sitting in front of you she gently spoons it into your mouth as though you're a baby. She takes her time, making sure that you're ok between every bite until you finish the entire bowl and the sandwich. She goes to put the bowl back into the kitchen but you pull on her wrist, not wanting her to leave you again.
"Mommy..." You whimper and she leaves the plate on the side and climbs into bed with you, taking you into her arms and kissing your forehead.
"Shh... it's ok, I'm here. You're safe... you're in bed with Mommy and nothing bad is going to happen!" She coos and you hiccup, moving yourself closer to her whilst she hugs you tight.
"Tired... so tired!" You glance up and blink owlishly at her, allowing her to soothingly rub your back and press kisses to your head.
"Get some sleep, Y/N. You're safe... you're ok sweetheart and tomorrow you should be feeling so much better!" Olivia said soothingly, gently rubbing your back whilst you drift off to sleep encased by so much love that you feel better already. You know that you can just relax and sleep the illness off, you know that everything will be alright because 'Mommy' said that it would be.
