Unknown Origins Chapter 1

Eggman just getting back from another humiliating defeat from Sonic. Eggman walked out of the egg mobile in a terrible mood. Heading back to his main work area to think up a new plan to destroy the annoying hedgehog. He slammed the door open startling his two lackeys Orbot and Cubot walking right past them. From the mood he is in both Orbot and Cubot know that Sonic the Hedgehog has defeated him once again both looking at each other and nodding in agreement they decide to stay out of his way by letting him vent out his frustration first before attempting to talk to him by both of them leaving the room.

"Ah! I can't believe that Sonic foiled my plans again! No matter how many steps ahead of him I am that blasted rodent always manages to get away in the end." said Eggman. "If only I could finally defeat Sonic my worries would be over."

It can get frustrating suffering defeat after defeat sure Dr. Ivo Robotnik aka Eggman always getting right back to coming up with a plan to defeat Sonic, but even though has his limits he is still a man after a very smart intelligent individual. Sometimes the things the hedgehog said hurt. For example, bonehead, that's the problem having no real friends, etc. He heard them all. Once in a while, he wonders why he even tries.

After a while, he cooled off that is when he heard both Orbot and Cubot enter the room. "Hello, boss." said Orbot "We have come to see if you needed assistance boss," said Cubot. Both floated where they were.

Eggman looked at both of them "Not right now." Walk over to his desk to make plans for a new Badnik. When he reached his desk about to draw up some plans, Eggman realized something and started laughing. Both Orbot and Cubot saw this wondering what was up with their boss. Cubot, said " Boss is there thing wrong?" "Why Cubot there is nothing wrong at all I just realized some things in all of my years in fighting Sonic!" said Eggman excitedly as he smiled.

"That you always lose to Sonic," said Orbot casually. Eggman smiled dropping saying "No you tin can! Sonic always had his friends to help him out in the end and always loved to insult me whenever I lost a battle against him and with his carefree attitude, he never took me seriously most of the time." Orbot was confused "But boss what does that have to do with defeating Sonic?" "You see it has every do with defeating Sonic, he has gotten cocky over his battles against me, and he thinks that his friends be there to save him," said Eggman. "And that will be his downfall."

With both Cubot and Orbot nodding in understanding. "Now if both of you will excuse me, I got a lot of work to do for my next plan and if I want this to be successful this time, I'll have to go look through old notes," said Eggman walking away to a different room where he keeps old plans, old notes, past failures, etc.

As soon as Eggman left the room Orbot said "I guess boss is motivated." Looking at Cubot as he started talking "Yeah he is." "Hey, I just realized." said Orbot looking to Cubot and saying, "What's that?" "He didn't threaten to melt us into scrap this time," said Orbot surprised. "You're right," said Cubot sounding surprised as well. Then both take the opportunity to get back to work before Eggman comes back to maybe consider doing it.

Back with Eggman getting frustrated after looking through all his old plans and old notes. "Ah! There's nothing useful here that I have considered before with past badniks and plans!" Yelling as boxes as he was looking through came falling all over the place.

"Great now I got to call those idiotic bots to clean all of this up!" said Eggman fuming about to walk away from the mess going to call the bots is when he spotted something that caught his attention. Walking over to see it closer look at it. He found an old flash drive that said Professor Gerald Robotnik's top secret Project X.

"Well, isn't this interesting grandfather was working on another project that even GUN didn't even know about," said Eggman having a sinister smile form on his face. "I'll have to see what this Project X is maybe this is finally the thing that will defeat that hedgehog."

Eggman went back to his main room where he did most of his work. He walked to his computer to plug in the flash drive to see what other secrets could be on the flash drive other than the secret Project X. Turns out there were a lot of files on Project X and no other secrets on the flash drive. Then one file stuck out to Eggman and proceeded to click on the file.

"I think I finally done it found a cure for Maria. Project X unlike Project Shadow was a great success in its own right but didn't have as fast a healing factor and taking account things that could be improved from Project Shadow. I must keep this project secret at all costs. Sadly, I was hoping Project Shadow would be Maria's cure for her rare disease, but I heard some talk about wanting to turn my work into a weapon. Project Shadow could cure Maria's disease but only about 60 to 70%.

When Shadow's blood made contact with Maria's blood for a test it healed most of the damaged cells but not all. Maria would be healthy enough to almost be like a normal child but would still need to watch herself. But I fear that Shadow maybe taken from Maria and me. At the same time, I wanted Maria to be healthy again and if Shadow were to be taken Maria would have no hope left of curing her disease. So, in case if that were to happen, I came up with Project X.

I feel like I'm betraying both Marias and Shadows trust by doing this but in the likely hood if it were to happen at least Maria would still be cured. It turns out I didn't nowhere to start with Project X. I had tons of help with Project Shadow, but with Project X I'm on my own. I don't know who to trust for all I know anyone could be a spy from Project Shadow and I didn't want to take the chance with Project X so I decided to do the work myself.

It was not easy with many hard nights it was hard to think of anything, but it hit me that I could use Project Shadow as a base for Project X. " Professor Gerald Robotnik signing out.

Eggman was finished reading that file and so far, nothing just about the creation of Project X. He decided to move on to the next file so clicked on the next one.

"So far work on Project X isn't proceeding smoothly. I have gotten a sample of Shadow's blood from his recent checkup, and I took a bit extra blood for Project X. I began to test the blood from Shadow with that of the Chaos emeralds energy to test for how much energy Shadow's blood can take, and it was too much for Shadow's blood to handle and it exploded.

When making Shadow was only made to hold so much energy before exploding so that is why Shadow was given limiters to hold back his power. So, if I want Project X to be successful, I going to have to do the opposite of what I did with Shadow instead of holding energy back. I'm going to have Project X consistently produce energy and have Project X burn off the energy of that of running.

So that way instead of storing energy with nowhere to go and an over buildup of energy with it resulting in it exploding. That way the energy can be constantly going instead of building up. That is when I started to get samples of Shadow's DNA and get started on Project X.

I did almost the same steps when making Project Shadow and applied that to Project X. Now I have a rough idea of how Project X will go." Professor Gerald Robotnik signing out.

Again, Eggman finished reading another file on the creation of Project X and proceeded to the next file.

"Project X is halfway through completion I just need to make sure no one else discovers the project's existence. Work on the project has been going pretty smoothly so far. Project X's vitals have been responding well and has a body structure similar to Project Shadow. Project X is starting to show signs of movement in his containment chamber.

Maria is starting to become a little bit more curious and wondering what I have been up to in what little time I have to myself. She is a very curious girl she might probably find out about Project X sooner than later, but as much as I want her to meet Project X and for her to have another friend like Shadow. This project must remain top secret even from Maria and Shadow." Professor Gerald Robotnik signing out.

Eggman finished reading another file on the creation of Project X. Thinking to himself that at least he found something useful like what his body structure might look similar to that of Shadow and proceeded to the next file.

"Project X is now officially complete. All these months of research and development have paid off. Project X has just awoken from his slumber in his containment chamber. From the looks of it, he appears to be looking at his surroundings and his eye color seems to be green. He appears to be blue. As I previously stated in one of my previous records his body structure is similar to Shadow.

I have just drained out the water from the containment chamber and have him explore round my secret lab. When I opened the containment chamber Project X just stared at me as if wondering who or what I was. Well, I told Project X my name and that he was in my lab. He seems to understand by slowly nodding in my direction. Over the months Project X has learned to walk, to talk, and to write. It turns out that Project X is that of a male similar to that of Shadow.

Project X has also developed an ability of super speed. In, fact he always wants to run. It could be possible he could move at supersonic speeds. Probably breaks the sound bearer. I should probably give him a name calling him Project X isn't a name of course I called I named Shadow after Project Shadow. With him having super speed I think the name Sonic will do.

I hope won't have to have to use Sonic as a backup plan because like with Shadow I have been growing fond of him. I can only be hopeful that it doesn't come to that. Maybe she can meet Sonic one day and Shadow as well he probably deserves to know after all he has a brother now." Professor Gerald Robotnik signing out.

Eggman was full of shock. It turns out that instead of finding a new plan or finding something on the flash drive that could defeat that hedgehog. It turns out the very same hedgehog he has been fighting all these years turns out to be a creation of his grandfather just like Shadow. Eggman got out of his seat to test the quills of Shadow's DNA and Sonic's DNA to see if they were similar. Also to see if the information on the flash drive was true. After conducting the tests, it showed they were similar. He didn't know what to think he was still in shock of finding out something so life-shattering.

But, then Eggman paused in his think about what he thought before about something life-shattering. Eggman got an evil smile formed on his face and spoke "I got it! With this information, Sonic will be so shocked and confused that this will finally break that hedgehog's fighting spirit. Then I can finally be rid of that hedgehog once and for all." Then letting out a big evil laugh.

Sonic and Tails just got back from their fight with Eggman. They both went to their house in Emerald Town. With Tails walking into his lab to work on some new inventions and come up with any ideas in case Eggman were to strike. While Sonic came rushing into the room from next door and plopping into a chair.

"Looks like we can chalk up another win against Eggman little buddy," said Sonic looking to Tail's direction and giving him a thumbs up. "You can say that again Sonic." Tails answered back while working on some of his inventions.

"You know Tails it doesn't seem like Eggman's badniks seem all that challenging lately we didn't even need to call Amy or Knuckles for backup. Maybe we are just that good," said Sonic cocky putting his arms around his head while leaning back in the chair.

"I don't know Sonic maybe Eggman is getting us to lower our guard waiting for the perfect time to strike us when we are most weakened." said Tails wondering if that is what Eggman is planning for them. "Come on Tails you have seen how fast the way that the badniks went down today. It's like egghead wasn't even trying this time," said Sonic trying to reassure Tails.

"You have a point Sonic about the badniks going down a lot faster than normal, but still maybe Eggman is planning for a stronger badnik to attack you. After the fight we just had." said Tails. "I don't know Tails egghead likes to go all out sending weaker bots first and then the big boss for the end. He wouldn't wait awhile just to send one badnik. He has a pattern he follows." said Sonic.

"But remember Sonic how Eggman only sent one badnik that being Metal Sonic. He doesn't always follow a pattern." said Tails pointing out his reasons. Sonic then wincing from the memory of having to fight Metal Sonic and not being an easy fight at all.

"Ok you have a point Tails but come on Tails maybe Eggman decided he needs a vacation that is why he's not putting up much of a fight lately and maybe we can take it easy for a bit you know before Eggman decides to attack who knows when," said Sonic getting up from his chair and walking up to Tails to put his arm around him in comfort.

"Maybe your right Sonic I'm probably overthinking again. I can sometimes do that." said Tails doubting himself a bit. "Hey, it's no problem with me little buddy and you and your big brain helped me get out of plenty of jams against Eggman," said Sonic with a smile putting his right hand on Tail's shoulder.

Tails smiles back saying " Thanks Sonic." Then hearing someone's stomach growling coming from Sonic. Looking a little embarrassed Sonic said, "Well looks like that fighting against Eggman's badniks worked up my appetite." Tails then laughing. "How about we get some lunch little buddy I'm starving it will be my treat?" said Sonic. "No thanks Sonic you go on without me I still got to repair the Tornado from are fight with Eggman." said Tails.

"Alright, guess I'll see you later Tails," said Sonic waving to Tails. "See you later Sonic." said Tails with a smile on his face doing the same. Sonic dashed away from the Fox until he was out of sight. Then Tail's smile faded away into a frown saying to himself " I hope your right Sonic." turning around to go work on making repairs to the Tornado.

As Sonic was running, he was thinking to himself 'I guess while I'm out getting lunch miles well see what Amy and Knuckles are up to and go for a run while I'm at it.' As he was looking for a food stand for chili dogs, he saw Amy by some flower shop he decided to take a little detour before getting some food to say hi to Amy quickly.

He stopped right behind her and said "Hey, Amy how are you doing?" Amy being a little surprised turned around seeing it was Sonic she smiled and answered "Hi, Sonic I'm great actually!" "So, Amy what are you doing at a flower shop?" said Sonic a little curious.

"I was planning on picking out some flowers for Cream, Cheese, and me to make flower crowns," said Amy showing some flowers in her hands. Then scratched his head and answered, "That is nice of you to do that for them but couldn't just pick some flowers in the woods for something."

"I could but I wanted to get some at the store instead because I wanted to have enough for all of us and besides it is better to let them be to look at them in the woods instead," said Amy. "Well, when you put it that way," said Sonic rubbing the back of his head.

"So, Sonic what brings you here?" said Amy wondering. "Oh, I was just on my way to get some lunch when I saw you and decided to drop by quickly. I asked Tails if he wanted to come but he said he had work to do." Sonic explains to Amy. "Oh, how sweet," said Amy with a smile on her face.

Sonic cleared up his throat and looked in the other direction for a second responding with "It was good seeing you but I'm starving, and I was planning to visit Knuckles next." "Oh, alright I guess I got to be going to if I want to make those flower crowns for Cream, Cheese, and me." said a little disappointed that they couldn't talk longer.

"Take care Amy," said Sonic about to go when Amy stopped him to say one last thing. "Hey Sonic give my regards to Tails and Knuckles, will you?" said Amy with a smile. Sonic grinning with his smile said, " Will do." speeding away.

After Sonic finally finds a food stand, he buys some chili dogs he decides to take a quick break from running to eat his chili dogs. Finding a bench Sonic sat down and ate his chili dogs. Looking up at the clear blue sky he began thinking to himself 'Man it's been a while since I last had a chili dog or a break from fighting Eggman's badniks. It feels like all I have been doing lately is just fighting Eggman's badniks. Well, no use dwelling on it, I guess.'

Finishing his meal, he got up from the bench throwing the wrapper from the chili dogs away and started to run making his way to visit Knuckles on Angel Island.

As Sonic was on his way to visit Knuckles had another visitor from that of a certain bat by the name of Rouge the Bat. Trying to steal the Master Emerald from him again. Knuckles being upset at Rogue "How many times must I tell you not to take the Master Emerald?!"

"You know I can't resist a fine piece of emeralds or jewels handsome," said Rouge in flirting way. Knuckles glaring at her "The Master Emerald is not one of your ordinary emeralds or jewels! It has an infinite amount of power even to cancel or control the chaos emeralds! Not to mention that the Master Emerald is the very thing holding up this entire island!"

"Oh, come now I can't even have a little look at it." said Rouge wearing a smirk. "No! Knowing you even one little look and you will be tempted even more to take the Master Emerald!" said Knuckles angrily. "Oh boo." said Rouge pretending to sulk. When in reality Rogue just came to tease the Echidna and wanted to come to see him.

As they were both talking another voice spoke "I'm not interrupting anything am I." Both stopped turning around at the voice behind them. "Heya." That voice coming from Sonic. "Well, what do you know it's Sonic," said Knuckle's sarcastic voice. "Aw come on Knuckles don't be like that especially when I came all this way to visit." said Sonic wearing a smile on his face.

"Because every time you so-called visited the world ended up in danger or you needed help battling Eggman," said Knuckles with a frown. "Ok fair when you put it like that," said Sonic rubbing the back of his head nervously. Knuckles crossed his arms not looking amused with a frown on his face.

"But this time no world-ending crisis or Eggman badniks. Just me visiting an old friend who he hasn't seen in a while," said Sonic being serious. Taking a few minutes thinking it over looking at Sonic and finally giving in with a small smile on his face "Oh, alright it has been a while has it."

"That's the spirit Knuxs," said Sonic with a smile. "I hope I'm not interrupting your chat," said Rouge. Then Sonic looked in Rogue's direction and said, "Hey Rouge it's been a while." "It has," said Rouge with a smile. "So, what have you been up to?" said Sonic being a little curious. "Other than the standard GUN mission nothing out of the ordinary," said Rogue with a shrug.

"How are Shadow and Omega?" said Sonic. "You know Shadow bruting as always and Omega is doing fine," spoke Rogue. "That is good. Tell Shadow and Omega I said hi," said Sonic. "Will do," said Rouge. "By the way not to be rude or anything, but what are you doing here anyway?"

Just as Rouge was about to answer Knuckles interrupted her. "That bat came here again to steal the Master Emerald again!" said Knuckles ticked again. Rouge saw how ticked that Knuckles thought it would be another chance to tease Knuckles in front of Sonic this time.

"Oh, come now a girl has her needs to," said Rouge giving him a sly smile. "Oh, don't give me that," said Knuckles frowning in her direction. Just as Rouge was going to say something else to Knuckles her work phone rang. A little annoyed that it interrupted her she answers because it might be important.

"Hello?" said Rogue answering her phone. After talking on time for a few minutes she ended her call. "Alright on my way." closing the phone. Then Rouge turned to both of them, and Sonic said, "What was that about?" "I have a new mission from GUN. So, I'll have to cut our visit short boys," said Rouge.

"Good that way you have something else you can focus on instead of stealing the Master Emerald," said Knuckles with a smirk. "Funny," said Rouge with a small frown. Sonic then spoke "Well it was great seeing you again Rouge." said Sonic with a smile. Then Rogue turned to Sonic's direct and said, "Same to you Sonic." with a smile returned.

Then Rouge to Knuckles and smiled with a sly smirk "See you later handsome." Then Knuckles gets red in the face a bit getting irrational. Seeing that reaction she left satisfied and then fell away. As soon as she was out a distance away Knuckles spoke to Sonic "That bat can sometimes get on my nerves."

"Well, hey look at it this way it's away good to see a friend," said Sonic. "In her case the Master Emerald," said Knuckles. "True I guess she does like emeralds and jewels," said Sonic. Knuckles looking in his direction giving him a look with an eyebrow raised.

"I guess now that Rouge is gone do you want to catch up a bit?" said Sonic with a smile. "Sure," said Knuckles returning said smile. Both Sonic and Knuckles walked a little bit until they both found a place to sit to catch up. "So, Knuckles what have you been up to?" said Sonic looking in his direction. "Other than a certain bat popping up unexpectedly. Nothing much but the usually guarding the Master Emerald," said Knuckles looking back in Sonic's direction.

"That's good," asked Sonic. "So, what about you? What have you been up to?" said Knuckles. "Me oh boy where do I even start? I have been fighting Eggman's badniks left and right for the past couple of weeks with Tail's help. Plus, not to mention this is my first break in weeks without Egghead throwing one of his badniks at me." said Sonic a little stressed.

"Sound like Eggman alright," said Knuckles. Then Sonic remembered something Amy told him "Oh by the way Amy says hi." "So, you ran into Amy Hu?" said Knuckles. "Just before meeting up with, you and before having lunch. She went to the flower shop to get some flowers to make flower crowns with Cream and Cheese," said Sonic.

"Is that so?" said Knuckles. But then Knuckles thought about something else and asked, "So how is Tails doing?" "Oh, Tails is doing great. Always using that big brain of his to make a new gadget. Also, right now he is repairing the Tornado from are last Eggman battle." said Sonic.

"Is Eggman planning something big?" said Knuckles. "I don't think so. I mean both Tails and I did both kick his butt into next week. " Said Sonic with his arms behind his head. "Cocky as always. Well, if, you're sure," said Knuckles with a smirk.

"I wouldn't say cocky just more confident that I'm going to kick egghead's butt," said Sonic with a cocky grin on his face. "That is being cocky," said Knuckles rolling his eyes. "Ya say what you like," said Sonic with his eye roll with his arms crossed. Knuckles laughing at the hedgehog's reaction.

They both continued to talk to each other for a while until Sonic asked a question kind of out of the blue "Hey, Knuckles I know that this is kind of an out-of-the-blue question, but I was wondering does it ever get lonely for you being the last of your kind and not having no family? You don't have to answer if you want to."

Knuckles was kind of put off by this question he didn't know what to say "The way I see it is that my whole clan spent their whole life entire life to guarding the Master Emerald and making sure that Chaos doesn't escape his prison in the Master Emerald and to make sure that no one with evil intents takes the Master Emerald.

You see my father before me was the guardian of the Master Emerald. Then my father passed down to guarding the Master Emerald to me. You see my clan was almost wiped out in the past by Chaos when the chief of his clan tried to steal the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emeralds.

When Chaos was out of control the chief's daughter sacrificed herself and sealed both herself and chaos within the Master Emerald. Then to make sure something that didn't happen again my clan vowed to protect the Master Emerald from the day forward from anyone who wanted to use it for evil. Then when my father just passed the duty of guarding the Master Emerald to me there was a war between my Echidna clan vs the Owl Clan.

I wanted to join the battle, but my father told me my duty now was to guard the Master Emerald. So, I obeyed my father and stayed to guard the Master Emerald as my father told me to. After my months the battle came to an end my clan won and destroyed the Owl Clan but at a cost, all my clan was destroyed as well. Then that is how I became the last of my kind.

But I got off track for a bit there but basically what I'm trying to say is that sure I get lonely, and I miss my family I still look at the bright side of everything." said Knuckles looking a little serious facing Sonic's direction. "And that would be?" said Sonic. Knuckles then smiles and tells Sonic "I have friends now that I see as a family that keep me going no matter what comes my way."

"So, who told you that?" said Sonic. "Well from a certain hedgehog I know." said Knuckles with a smile. Sonic being a little surprised then returned the said smile. "So, what caused you to ask a question like that out of the blue?" said Knuckles being a little curious.

"When I don't know exactly why I asked it's just that I feel I can talk to you more about these kinds of things. Don't get me wrong I love to talk to Tails about these things it's just that he is still just a kid and well with Amy, I rather not worry her about my problems you know. Also, I wanted your input on something I have been thinking about lately." said Sonic.

"And that would be?" said Knuckles. "Nothing too important," said Sonic. "It sounds important if you asked me a question like that. I just basically unloaded my whole life story to you so spill it!" said Knuckles kind of frustrated. "Alright well where do I start," said Sonic thinking about wanted he wanted to say.

"Have you ever wondered why I always travel around a lot? But now not as much as I used to but still travel enough," said Sonic looking to Knuckles. Knuckles then nodded to Sonic waiting for Sonic to continue. "Well, there is a reason for that. The truth is that I never had any parents I didn't have a home in the past I was a wanderer traveling from place to place never having a place to call home. Heck, I don't even know where I came from. I remember just waking up one day in a random forest in a pod." said Sonic starting to be a little sad talking about his past.

"Well now I kind of can see why you asked that question because I guess this was bothering you lately?" said Knuckles looking at Sonic with a look of understanding. Sonic nodded to the question. "What I do understand is why is this bothering you now I mean you got Tails who is like your brother basically and you have us as your friends? There is no need to dwell on something like that." said Knuckles wondering why Sonic was feeling this way.

"Ok look sure, I have Tails now and live with him and I see him as my little brother and have great friends that support and help me, but sometimes I feel like there is something different about me like there is something about myself I just don't know. I mean I have no memories before waking up next to that pod in the middle of a random forest for crying out loud," said Sonic getting a little frustrated.

Sonic continued "I mean come on can't I get a little upset too from time to time? It seems I need to be the brave, carefree, cocky hedgehog all the time and that can't show any weakness." "That's not what I'm saying at all," said Knuckles getting a little frustrated as well.

"Well, it seems to me that you don't want me to you about my problems," said Sonic in a little bit of an angry tone. "I'm just saying that you go messing with stuff you don't understand." said Knuckles in frustration. "What do you mean don't mess with stuff I don't understand!?" said Sonic in an angry tone.

"Every time you go on adventures the world always is somehow in danger and you have to save it. I'm saying somehow danger always finds you and if you go seeking the danger the more trouble you get into," said Knuckles frustrated tone but still trying to calm the situation.

"Well, this isn't about me going on another thrill-seeking adventure of the week for me this is about me asking a friend for some input on what I should do to find answers to my past," said Sonic in an angry calm tone. Both were then quiet for a bit.

"I'm sorry it's just that I don't want to see my friend end up hurt," said Knuckles in a sad tone. "Even if I end up hurt, I got to know," said Sonic in a serious calm tone. After a few minutes of more silence, Knuckles spoke with a smirk. "Well, I guess if that is how you feel I can't stop you."

"You bet," said Sonic with his smirk. "You said you wanted my input right well here it is just careful with what you learned because once you know something you wanted to know you wish you didn't find out in the first place," said Knuckles giving his input. "Will do and thanks Knuckles for the input," said Sonic with a smile.

Just as Knuckles was about to say something else Sonic's phone rang, and Sonic answered it "Hello?" "Sonic trouble Eggman is back!" said Tails on the other line. "On my way Tails," said Sonic in a serious tone hanging up the phone. "Sorry Knuckles but duty calls," said Sonic.

"I hear ya," said Knuckles with a smile. "It was nice talking with Knuckles," said Sonic returning the smile. "You as well," said Knuckles. "Gotta dash!" said Sonic running to get where Eggman is. Then Knuckles said one last thing as Sonic left "Good luck Sonic."

GUN Headquarters

Shadow and Omega were both waiting for Rouge to come back from Angel Island so they could start their mission from GUN. Then Rouge came and spoke, "Hello boys hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." "Come on we wasted enough time," said Shadow in an annoyed tone. "What not even a welcome back?" said Rouge in a sarcastic tone. Shadow just ignored her walking past her.

Just then Rouge said something else "Oh by the way Shadow Sonic says hi." with a teasing smile. Shadow turned around and looked at her annoyed saying "I could care less what that Sonic is up to right now." continuing on his way in the direction he was going. With Rouge's eye rolling in his direction following after him with Omega right behind.

"So, Omega do you happen to know what mission we're assigned to?" said Rouge curious. "Negative. Unclear of mission objective," said Omega continuing to walk ahead. "Should have figured you wouldn't know either," said Rouge a little bit annoyed.

"We'll know as soon as they assign us the mission," said Shadow. "Well, I hope whatever mission they give us I hope it doesn't have to do with Eggman this time as much fun I have messing with him from time to time it can get a little old. Plus, whenever it has to do with Eggman usually we find out that he uncovered an old secret project that he found. No offense Shadow." said Rouge looking to him up ahead.

"None taken," said Shadow not bothered because it is true to a point after all Eggman found him after all. "If the objective is Eggman will proceed to destroy all Eggman badniks," said Omega in a menacing tone. As they all continued to their destination, they finally arrived outside the lobby of the main office of the GUN headquarters.

Then Rogue saw a familiar face and decided to take a quick second to visit and spoke "Well if it isn't Topaz." The familiar face then turned around and the voice that spoke to her found the source and then smiled and said "Rouge it has been a while. Here for a new mission assigned mission?"

"You could say something like that," said Rouge. "I guess it must be important if he called all of you," said Topaz guessing. "The thing is we don't know what mission we are getting that would require all of us," said Rouge. "That is odd well I guess you just have to wait and find out for yourselves," said Topaz shrugging her shoulders. "Probably," said Rouge.

"Well, I'll let the Commander know you are here," said Topaz. "Thanks," said Rouge with a small smile. "No problem," said Topaz proceeding to the GUN Commander's office. The GUN Commander Abraham Towers was busy with paperwork at the moment in his office when he heard a knock on his door, and he said "Yes." the door opened showing one of his agents named Topaz then she spoke, "Sir agent Shadow and his team are here for their assigned mission."

"Oh yes bring them in." said the Commander with a nod. "Yes sir," said Topaz then walking out the door to Shadow's team in the lobby. "The Commander will see you now," said Topaz to team Shadow. "Thanks, Topaz," said Rouge waving to Topaz as Shadow, Omega, and she went to the Commander's office. "No problem," said Topaz as she walked out of the lobby to get back to work.

They all walked in and closed the door behind them and then the Commander spoke "Greets agent Shadow and team." "Commander," said Shadow in a neutral tone. "The reason why I called you all here is we have reason to believe that Eggman has in his possession a flash drive on a secret project that Professor Gerald Robotnik worked on in the past and your mission is to retrieve the said information." said the Commander in a serious voice.

"How did you find out this said information in the first place and was I not made aware of this?!" said Shadow in a little bit of an angry tone. "Shadow calm down I'm sure the Commander will explain himself," said Rouge trying to calm Shadow down. "Yes, I can explain we have recently come across some secret documents that Gerald Robotnik had hidden away in a secret compartment." said the Commander in a calm tone.

"And where did you find the secret compartment where the documents were?" said Shadow in a calmer neutral tone. "The documents were found in the bottom of a chest. Gerald Robotnik didn't have much information on the documents we found, but we found enough to know that Gerald Robotnik was working on something, and he put it on a flash drive and separated it from these documents." said the Commander.

As Shadow was taking a moment to think. The Commander continued "That is why we must get that information and why I assigned this mission to you and your team. We can't let this information fall into the hands of Eggman." said the GUN Commander in a serious voice.

"Let me make one thing clear with you I will do this mission, but I will do it alone." said Shadow in a serious tone and serious look on his face to GUN Commander's face Rouge whipped her head in Shadow's direction fast and said, "Like heck you are we are a team remember how many times I have to tell you this!?" Omega also agreed with Rouge as well saying "Affirmative."

Looking in the direction of Rouge and Omega in a serious tone spoke "I have my reasons." "And I'm saying that is not good enough!" said Rouge in a frustrated tone. "You wouldn't understand," said Shadow wearing a frown and turning away from her. "Oh, don't give me that we've been through this before, and we are definitionally not doing this again. Tell me what I don't understand." letting out her frustration at him and walking in the direction he turned away from her talking directly in his face.

After staring at her for a few minutes he let out a sigh and in a calm sad tone said "Professor Gerald Robotnik was like a father figure to me and to find that all this time when he said that he was busy and said that he was working with the other scientists on a project when in reality he was working on some project in his own time instead of spending that time with Maria. I have to know what was so important about that secret project he was working on that he had to spend that time away from Maria. I have to know."

Rouge was shocked she didn't know what to say Shadow hardly let his guard down in front of others and to express himself well she was speechless. After a few minutes of being shocked Rouge said, "Well if you are that determined who am I to stop you? Right Omega." Rouge looked towards Omega's direction "Affirmative. If the objective is important one must complete. One is willing just this once to put the destruction of Eggman badniks on hold for now." said Omega in a serious tone.

Shadow didn't know what to say both of them were willing to let him do the mission on his own and a small smile appeared on his face as he said something that he rarely says to anyone and that is "Thank you." "Well Shadow expressing graduate that's a first," said Rouge shocked in a teasing tone. "Affirmative," said Omega.

Shadow's face became neutral again and said, "Don't get used to it." "Ahem." a sound coming from the GUN Commander with Shadow and his team turning to his direction. "So, I take it that Agent Shadow would like to solo this mission?" said the Commander wondering. "That would be Affirmative," said Omega.

The Commander rubbed his head "Alright it was originally that all three of you were assigned to this mission, but I can make some adjustments to just have Agent Shadow assigned to this mission, but Agent Rouge and Omega you are on standby in case something were to go were which might not, but it is better to be on the safe side. Are we clear?" said the GUN Commander.

"Yes sir." said all three. "Good You're dismissed." said the GUN Commander. Then Shadow and his team exited the office. Rouge looked at Shadow and said, "Well good luck on your mission then." "Good luck with the completion of objective." said Omega in a neutral tone. Shadow nodded in both of their direction and took out a Chaos Emerald drawing power from it and then said, "Chaos control!" and teleported away.
