Summary: Fairy Tail was a wonderful guild. Naruto never knew how Makarov Dreyar could accept him even after he told him about himself. But still, he would do anything to protect them, even when it was out of the shadows. But why could he not get her out of his mind? "I will protect them. That was my promise, and I would rather die than let them get killed."

"So now, with Erza, Mystogan, and me, the top three from Fairy Tail are gathered. Very good," Laxus said as he looked at the rune display. There was a countdown. This countdown indicated when the Thunder Palace would be activated, and Magnolia would be completely grounded.

He stood in the huge cathedral in the center of Magnolia, wearing his coat with fur roots, a purple shirt, and black pants as always. White shoes completed the outfit, and he had his headphones on.

He closed his eyes and waited a bit. He knew full well that someone would show up here soon—someone only he and his grandfather had ever seen. It was a man considered the strongest male mage in Fairy Tail—even stronger than himself, and that gets on his nerves! He was the strongest in the guild and would prove that to everyone. He opened his eyes when he heard the huge gates. They moved, and he could hear footsteps in the cathedral, which had just been quiet.

He looked at his new guest and grinned, "Hey, Mystogan. You came," Laxus said, laughing slightly afterward. He turned to Mystogan and said, "I never thought you'd be playing my little game."

Mystogan was, as the name suggests, a Mysterious Person. You couldn't see anything but the eyes of him. Otherwise, everything was masked or covered. He wore a dark blue cape and a dark blue cap with a metallic protector on his forehead. A green cloth covered the lower half of the face. His legs and arms were mostly wrapped in bandages. Like most, you could see dark blue gloves on his hands and not normal shoes on his feet. He wore sandals, so you could see that his feet were lightly wrapped in bandages. He wore short, wide trousers with blue and white stripes, and a dark blue top with white sides completed the outfit.

Laxus immediately noticed that Mystogan's staffs were missing. Usually, Mystogan always carried at least one staff with him, with a blue fan at the top. However, he didn't carry one of the five staff that Laxus once saw on Mystogan. Something seemed different about Mystogan than it was two months ago, the last time he saw him. He'd only ever seen him from the upper floor of the guild hall, but he thought he remembered that Mystogan used to have darker eyes and not those blue ones. His hair was blue and not blonde; that's what Laxus thought.

"If you dissolve the Thunder Palace now, we might be able to sell it as entertainment for the festival," said a calm and collected voice. That voice was exactly what you'd expect from a guy like Mystogan—calm and collected, not excited or childish, as with Natsu, for example.

"Stop playing the hero. I don't buy that. In truth, you want to compete with me. You want to prove that you're the strongest mage in Fairy Tail," Laxus said.

"You shouldn't ignore Erza," Mystogan said.

"She doesn't stand a chance. She's on the right track but still weak," Laxus grinned.

Mystogan seemed amused by this statement and even laughed lightly for a moment. "Heh, weak, you say? Either you're blind or more ignorant than I thought," Mystogan said.

"Let's not kid ourselves. No one in the guild can even begin to stand up to us. One of us is the strongest mage in Fairy Tail, and I want to know who deserves this title," said Laxus.

"You don't seem to want to understand. Just as you like, Laxus," Mystogan said, raising his arm. Laxus fired a continuous yellow bolt from his hand while Mystogan fired a blue magic ray. Both magics rubbed against each other a little bit, and shortly afterward, there was a small blast wave. As a result, all the glasses were destroyed, and the glass shards were catapulted outwards by the blast wave.

Mystogan and Laxus looked at each other with a serious expression. Mystogan raised his arm and held his palm open. A large purple magic circle appeared in front of him.

Laxus suddenly realized that he could no longer move. A bright light suddenly surrounded him, and five different magic circles appeared above each other. "Get ready," Mystogan said. His hand began to glow slightly blue. "Sacred Song," Mystogan said, and immediately afterward, he noticed a yellow magic circle beneath him.

"You're good, Mystogan, but..." Laxus said with a grin. The magic of Mystogan suddenly struck Laxus, and Mystogan himself was struck by lightning that originated over him. The other's magic hit both opponents; shortly afterward, there were two explosions. And every magic provided one. Still, with a grin, Laxus stopped at the spot where the magic struck him. He didn't seem to have a scratch on him, and Mystogan was still in the same place.

Mystogan raised both arms and brought his hands together. After moving both hands, he pointed his two index fingers at Laxus, creating a purple magic circle in front of his fingers.

Under Laxus, several purple waves of energy came and moved towards him. Laxus had to watch as they rose briefly and then moved towards him. He wrapped his body in yellow lightning just in time and slipped out of the magic.

Mystogan leaped up as Laxus flew in his direction in his lightning form. Laxus hit Mystogan, but he dissolved into mist. Laxus reappeared on the ground, leaving his lightning form, and shortly after, Mystogan appeared on the ground but in a mist.

Laxus grinned, "Not too bad for a start," he said, raising both hands over his body. Above his body, a yellow magic circle appeared, producing yellow lightning. The flashes were getting more and more, and Mystogan was ready.

"Try this!" said Laxus, moving downward with both hands. The magic circle disappeared, and a large yellow flash of lightning shaped like a predator appeared over Laxus. The predator of lightning flew towards Mystogan.

"Mirror Water!" Mystogan said. He first held both his hands in a special formation for a short time and then held out his arm and grabbed the arm with the other hand. In front of his body, a magic circle with several layers appeared. The outer edge was purple, the part between the center and the edge was red, and the center was light blue. It was as if three magic circles had merged into one.

The predator of yellow lightning struck the multi-level magic circle and seemed to be reflected. The predator now flew back towards Laxus, and he raised both eyebrows in surprise. He crossed his arms in front of him and was hit by his spell, and immediately afterward, a cloud of bright smoke appeared around Laxus after a small lightning explosion.

Mystogan waited and found that Laxus was still completely unscathed. He was still standing there with his arms crossed and a grin. "Very impressive, Mystogan. I didn't know you could do such a spell. Very convenient, I have to say," Laxus said with a grin.

"So here you are!" said two people simultaneously. Laxus and Mystogan looked at the door of the cathedral and could see Erza Scarlet and Natsu Dragneel.

"Ezra!" Natsu said in surprise. "Natsu! So you made it out?" she asked, a little surprised.

Natsu pointed at Mystogan, "Who is that?" Natsu asked, a little confused. "That's Mystogan," Ezra said.

Mystogan glanced briefly at both members of Fairy Tail and then looked back at Laxus. "So what now, Laxus? The odds are not very good for you," Mystogan said calmly and composedly.

"Heh, it doesn't make any difference. No one can conquer me, whether it's you alone or the whole guild!" said Laxus. His whole body was shrouded in yellow lightning, and his cloak flew away a little.

"As you wish, Laxus. Then you leave me no other choice," Mystogan said, and right after that, his entire body was surrounded by an grey aura. His magical power shot through the ceiling, and he disappeared shortly after. Everyone looked around in confusion until Erza saw the impossible.

Laxus' eyes widened as he felt a sharp pain in his back. Mystogan popped up from behind Laxus, holding some blue rotating sphere over his right palm. He had rammed that sphere into Laxus' back, and right after that, Laxus began to spiral through the cathedral, crashing into a wall.

Mystogan looked at the pile of rubble that Laxus was burying and could feel the quake. The pile of rubble was destroyed, and Laxus stood up. His whole body was shrouded in yellow lightning.

"YOU BASTARD!" yelled Laxus. His shirt was no longer visible, and a spiral wound on his back was visible. Laxus' upper body had become even more massive, and the pattern of scales could be seen on his arms. Not only did the yellow lightning bolts stick to his body, but they also partially traveled across the ground, destroying some stone slabs on their way.

Erza used her magic and changed armor. She now wore the armor of the Thunder Empress, which allowed her to weaken Lightning-type magic. Natsu jumped away and held on to a wall with a small ledge.

Mystogan held out his hand, and a purple magic circle appeared. "Sacred Song!" he said, and already like before, Laxus was shrouded in a bright light; above him, five different magic circles appeared on top of each other, and right after that, Laxus was hit by a strong magic attack. The lighting on the ground disappeared, and no new ones were generated. Mystogan's magic attack seems to have stopped the production of new lightning bolts for the time being, and when the cloud of smoke cleared, Laxus could be seen clearly. Flashes of yellow no longer surrounded him, but he just stood there and took a deep breath.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" Natsu yelled, getting ready. That magic and smell was that of a dragon. Laxus was a Dragon Slayer, just like himself! He really couldn't believe it.

"Get ready!" screamed Erza, holding her pole in front of her, causing a red magic seal to appear in front of her. Shortly after, a kind of light blue barrier appeared in front of her.

"LIGHTNING DRAGON ROAR!" Laxus shouted. A yellow magic circle briefly appeared in front of his face, and immediately afterward, he disappeared again; just in front of Laxus' mouth, a magic beam of lightning magic was created, fired directly at the 3.

There was a massive magical explosion when Laxus' magic hit something. A bright cloud of smoke arose, enveloping half of the cathedral. Laxus heard something behind him and turned around. He shrouded his right arm in yellow lightning bolts and used it to hit Natsu, who was completely engulfed in flames. "So you're still alive, Natsu. Can't you die?" said Laxus in an angry voice. The voice almost sounded like a growl.

"You're going to regret it, Laxus!" Natsu yelled and exchanged blows with him briefly before a fist hit him, shrouded in lightning, and flew into a wall. He crashed into it and fell to the ground. He was a bit paralyzed at the time and couldn't move properly.

"DIE NATSU," Laxus yelled, firing a yellow bolt at him. Mystogan suddenly appeared crouching before Natsu, touched him, and disappeared immediately. Laxus was used to fast movements so that he could see that moment. A normal mage wouldn't have seen Mystogan appear.

"T-thank you, Mystogan," Natsu said, looking up at him. He had just felt sick. Dragon Slayers just weren't made to be transported like that.

"No cause," Mystogan said, straightening up. He held up his hand and said, "Mirror Water!". In front of him appeared the multi-layered magic circle, and directly on it bounced a large fist entirely of lightning magic. The big fist was reflected and now flew back towards Laxus. Laxus could easily eat lightning bolts in his current form, but his magic wasn't one of them, even if it was reflected and directed at him. He enveloped his entire body in lightning magic and dashed away. The large fist slammed into the ground, creating a lightning explosion. Dust was kicked up but disappeared pretty quickly.

Erza repelled an attack from Laxus and countered with her lance, which fired bright green lightning. Laxus just grinned, wrapping his right hand in lightning bolts and letting Erza's lightning bounce off his hand. The lighting was negated, and right after that, Laxus rushed off and started fighting with Erza. Thanks to the Lightning Empress's armor, Erza could keep up with Laxus.

She swung her lance, and Laxus fended off the lance by shrouding the body part in lightning, blocking the lance. He couldn't do much damage to Erza with her armor either. He shrouded himself completely in lightning and immediately appeared behind her. He lashed out, said, "Lightning Dragon Breakdown Fist!" and beat the air. A large fist of lightning magic appeared from a yellow magic circle when his arm was fully extended. Erza was hit and flew through the cathedral for a while. Natsu intercepted her in flight and landed safely with her in his arms.

Mystogan appeared right before Laxus, holding the blue rotating sphere of pure magic over his hand again. Laxus was prepared for this time, filled his fist with yellow lightning bolts, and struck against the magic of Mystogan. He was shocked when Mystogan's attack suddenly doubled and was now the size of a basketball. It pierced through Laxus' counterattack and hit his body. Laxus was hurled through the cathedral again, spinning like a spiral. He hit his back against a wall and fell to the ground.

Natsu jumped into the air, holding a large red flame in both hands above him. "FIRE DRAGON BRILLIANT FLAME!" he shouted, throwing the flame at Laxus. Laxus was hit, engulfing Laxus in an explosion of fire. Natsu landed and looked closely to watch Laxus.

"I'll take care of the Thunder Palace!" Ezra yelled, running past Natsu. "Promise me you'll come back alive!" Natsu said after her. Ezra smiled and nodded.

'I won't end my life—not after you opened my eyes, Natsu. Thank you,' Erza thought to herself, smiling.

The smoke in the cathedral vanished, revealing Laxus with a few scratches, the scratches coming from the magic of Mystogan. Natsu's spell had done almost no damage to the S-rank mage. Natsu suddenly felt tremendous pressure hitting him. He could feel Laxus' murderous lust and powerful magical power. He couldn't believe how strong Laxus was!

Laxus' magical power shot through the ceiling, and once again, he was shrouded in yellow lightning bolts that destroyed parts of the ground beneath him. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL! DIE AT LAST, YOU LITTLE MAGGOTS!" cried Laxus in anger.

"LIGHTNING DRAGON ROAR!" he screamed, firing the beam of pure lightning magic at Natsu. The attack hit Natsu, and a huge lightning explosion was on impact. Mystogan held up his arm to protect his eyes. He didn't notice the moment in time so that he couldn't get Natsu out of harm's way.

He just hoped that Natsu's sturdy body could withstand the attack. Natsu was quickly revealed to be lying on the ground and unable to move properly. Lightning flashes appeared around him from time to time, showing that Natsu was paralyzed and, therefore, unable to move properly.

Mystogan got down on one knee and touched Natsu. "Get some rest, Natsu. If you can move again, come back." Mystogan said and disappeared briefly with Natsu and then reappeared at the cathedral's entrance.

"Finally, these weaklings are gone! Let's finish it, Mystogan!" said Laxus with a grin. All the anger from just now seems to have vanished, and he was back to how he was at the beginning of the fight, where he just wanted to know who exactly was the strongest in Fairy Tail.

"I agree with you, Laxus. Let's end this tragedy," Mystogan said calmly and collectedly. The grey aura began to pulsate around his body, and, as so often, Laxus was shrouded in lightning. Both opponents rushed toward each other and collided. The two of them engaged in a fierce hand-to-hand fight, exchanging fists, legs, feet, elbows, and other parts of their bodies. After several back and forths, the fists of the two clashed, and a trial of strength began.

Mystogan suddenly turned to the side and released the tension on his arm. Laxus fell forward, slightly surprised, because he no longer had that counter-pressure. Mystogan slammed his elbow into his jaw and struck him again with a fist. He spun once and hit Laxus' chest with his right verses. He doesn't have the massive physique like Laxus, so those three hits didn't do as much as you might thought. He jumped away and stretched out his arm. A purple magic circle appeared before his hand, and a blue ray of magic came out. Laxus fired a Lightning Dragon Roar, countering Mystogan's blue magic beam.

Both attacks rubbed against each other briefly, and shortly afterward, a magic explosion knocked both opponents back slightly. Mystogan disappeared into the air and emerged in a low position. He used the resulting cloud of smoke to hide. This didn't help because, as a Dragon Slayer, Laxus had a very fine nose and could smell Mystogan. Through the smoke, Laxus charged and attacked Mystogan with small orbs of lightning magic.

'Energy Make: Dual Rasengan.' Mystogan thought to himself, creating a rotating sphere of raw magic above each hand. He jumped into the air, dodging some of Laxus' bullets and ramming his two Rasengan into the bullets he couldn't dodge.

Laxus appeared above Mystogan. He raised both arms and held both hands together. "Lightning Dragon Jaw!" Laxus said. His hands were shrouded in lightning magic, and he struck down at Mystogan with them. Mystogan turned around and barely lifted one arm before the powerful attack hit him.

Mystogan crashed into the ground and was enveloped in a lightning explosion. A crater was formed under Mystogan. Mystogan filled as the pain shot through his body. He raised his arm and created a purple magic circle. 'Skyscraper.' Mystogan thought to himself, and immediately afterward, he jumped away. He could see how Laxus broke out of this illusion after only a few moments. He only cast this spell to give him some time.

Mystogan heard several explosions outside the cathedral. He smiled from behind the green cloth and looked at Laxus. "The Thunder Palace is no longer Laxus. You lost," Mystogan said.

"What?" yelled Laxus. He looked at the ad and saw that it was gone—every Lacrima was destroyed! He really couldn't believe it. "You've lost, Laxus," Mystogan said behind him. Laxus' eyes widened, and his pupils shrunk considerably. The veins in his eye became visible, clearly a sign of pain.

Mystogan had rammed a Rasengan into Laxus' back, and Laxus began to fly through the cathedral again. He spun like a spiral in flight and had no control over his body in flight.

He crashed through the wall of the cathedral and was buried by several pieces of rubble. Mystogan held both hands together and pointed to the pile of rubble with both fingers. A purple magic circle appeared in front of his fingers, and right after that, purple energy began to appear around the pile of rubble. The purple energy rose briefly from the ground and then began to envelop the pile of rubble. Just before the pile of debris was completely enveloped in this purple energy, the pile of debris exploded, and lightning flashed around the person standing up.

"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU ALL!" Laxus yelled, and immediately after that, the yellow flashes disappeared. Instead, a bright light began to shine from the ground. Mystogan could only watch as a bright light appeared between Lasu's hands, and he began to laugh.

"FAIRY LAW!" he shouted, clapping his hands together. In front of him, a magic circle appeared with the Fairy Tail crest in the middle, and right after that, the whole city was lit up in a bright light. Everyone could only watch helplessly as this spell spread without any problems, capturing and hitting everyone.

A few seconds later, Laxus looked in disbelief. Mystogan stood there completely unharmed. "How can that be? I used Fairy Law correctly!" said Laxus incredulously. How could Mystogan still be alive?

"The guild members and residents of Magnolia are all still alive," said Freed, standing at the entrance.

"Freed?" asked Laxus. He could see exactly how hurt Freed was.

"No one was killed; everyone is fine," Freed said.

"What? How can that be? My Fairy Law was perfect!" said Laxus, shocked.

"The cause of this is your heart, Laxus!" said Freed. Laxus looked completely shocked. "You have inherited not only the magical power but also the heart from Master—a big heart that thinks of its comrades. Ultimately, the spell Fairy Law only works on others that the mage sees as enemies. I'm sure you know what that means."

Laxus was furious and gritted his teeth. "You can try to hide it, but your magic reveals your true feelings," Freed said.

"Oh no. Never! Anyone who stands in my way is my enemy. AN ENEMY!" said Laxus angrily.

"Listen, Laxus, go to the Master; he is dying!" said Freed.

Laxus' eyes turned completely white, and his upper body became massive again. He had returned to his normal physique after Fairy Law, and now he was transforming again and getting those scales on his arms. "WHAT DO I CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE OLD BAG? I AM LAXUS AND NOT ANYONE'S GRANDSON!" he screamed angrily, creating lightning bolts around him that easily destroyed even a large portion of the ground.

"Get your act together," Mystogan said in a calm voice. Laxus turned and looked at Mystogan with displeasure. "What do you want now, Mystogan?" asked Laxus.

"You should know that the guild is one big family, and it doesn't matter if you're related to the master. Stop acting like a little kid," Mystogan said.

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW, HUH? YOU'RE ALWAYS ABSENT, HIDING BEHIND YOUR SLEEP SPELL! DON'T TALK HERE, YOU HYPOCRITE!" yelled Laxus, charging at Mystogan. Mystogan remained calm and stormed off as well.

The two collided and exchanged several blows. They then crashed through the ceiling. Mystogan and Laxus collided several times in the air and then moved away from each other again.

Just as Laxus was about to hit Mystogan with a Lightning Dragon Jaw towards the ground, Mystogan suddenly disappeared and appeared above him. Laxus turned his body to the side and could dodge Mystogan's swirling downward kick again.

Both ended up on the roof of the cathedral. "You want it that way, Laxus," Mystogan said. His eyes suddenly turned blood-red, and his pupils turned into a slit. His entire body was surrounded by a red aura instead of the grey one.

Laxus' infinite anger was forgotten when he felt this crushing magical power. Mystogan's cloak squirmed and moved uncontrollably despite no wind. He raised his hand, and above his palm, blue and red magic particles began to gather at one point. A ball of purple magic formed, with a white ring slightly visible around it.

Laxus had only blinked once, and at that time, Mystogan suddenly appeared in front of Laxus. "DEVIL SLAYER SECRET ART: TAILED BEAST BOMB!" Mystogan screamed, ramming the small purple orb with the white glow around her into Laxus' torso. A massive explosion shook the entire cathedral. The cathedral's roof was destroyed, and a large cloud of black smoke was created when the explosion occurred. Laxus fell to the ground unconscious with severe burns all over his torso and crashed to the floor of the cathedral after a brief moment. Mystogan didn't seem to be there anymore because he didn't emerge from the black cloud of smoke, and even when the cloud of smoke disappeared, he was nowhere to be seen.

Freed ran to Laxus and looked to see if his life was in danger. This explosion was very powerful, and it could well have been that Laxus could have died in it. He sighed with relief when he noticed a steady pulse and regular breathing. 'Laxus lost,' Freed thought a little incredulously. He thought that no one could defeat Laxus. Mystogan was truly the strongest male mage in the guild. This last magical power was out of this world. He could barely breathe under the pressure of her. His normal magical power was on par with Laxus, but it shot through the roof when his aura turned red. He had never felt such a strong magical power before.

Makarov Dreyer turned around and tried to hold back his tears. The fight for Fairy Tail was over, and he just said something he had to, even when he never wanted it. Laxus looked at the back of his grandfather and smiled. He knew he would be banished from the guild. There was no other way this could have been solved otherwise. He did something unforgivable, and even when the guild may forgive him, he couldn't be a part of this fantastic guild any longer.

"It seems I came just at the right time," said a male voice. Makarov and Laxus turned around and saw how Mystogan appeared in a swirling vortex of air. His blue cloak moved a bit when he appeared before calming down.

"Mystogan…," said Laxus.

"I would rethink of banishing your grandson, master. He was not in the right state of mind," said Mystogan while he walked beside Laxus.

"What do you mean by that, Mystogan?" asked Makarov.

"He was cursed. I don't know how it was possible, but dark and sinister magic was inside Laxus' mind, corrupting his thoughts," said Mystogan while raising his hand. A dark purple-black flame flickered into existence above his hand. Makarov and Laxus could immediately feel the dark magic power it radiated.

"This is a fragment of a demon. This magic power had corrupted Laxus. It must have been inside Laxus for a long time since this little demonic magic energy normally couldn't influence the thoughts of a powerful mage like Laxus," said Mystogan. He closed his fist and deleted the remaining part of the demonic energy Laxus had inside his body.

"What?" Laxus asked, confused. "You want to tell me I wasn't myself because of this demonic magic?"

"Yes. I removed it during our fight with my last attack. When I hit you with my Devil Slayer Magic, I removed the demonic particles from your body. You should be good to go from now on," said Mystogan and turned around. He began to walk toward the door before Makarov said his name.

"Mystogan, wait," said Makarov.

Mystogan stopped and looked over his shoulder. "Thank you, Mystogan. You saved not only Fairy Tail but also Laxus," said Makarov.

"You don't need to thank me, master. This is the least I could do to repay you for your kindness in letting me into the guild. I will come back," said Mystogan before he looked forth and dissolved into mist.

Mystogan appeared out of nowhere on a roof near the guild hall and looked through the window. He saw Makarov and Laxus speaking with each other before they hugged. He smiled lightly behind his covered face and turned again before vanishing into thin air.

"So that's it?" asked a young man with spiky blond hair, ocean blue eyes, and six whisker marks. He wore a long-sleeved orange shirt, black pants, and black sandals. He held a black book in his hand while he leaned against a tree on a cliff. The sky clouds were grey and spiraling around a certain spot. It was like a hurricane was about to appear every second, but the young man didn't seem concerned. He looked up from his book and saw Mystogan standing with his five staff in hand.

"Yes… thank you, Naruto. Thanks to you, I could finally deal with the anima and return home," said Mystogan while looking at his friend. Naruto had impersonated Mystogan more than one time. Makarov knew of Naruto and that he was disguised as Mystogan more than once. Someone could easily see this when "Mystogan" didn't wear his staffs, and because of the blond hair and blue eyes, someone could see behind the green peace of clothes.

"I will miss you, old friend," said Naruto. He looked at the only friend he made since he came into this world. He was always in the shadows even before he came to earthland. There was constant warfare in his world, and he was trained to be a powerful mage from a young age. He was made into a Devil Slayer before he turned two years old. He was always alone because of his Devil Slayer powers. When he was eight years old, he had his first kill.

The world he came from was much more dangerous than earthland, and because of constant warfare, Naruto had to become stronger to survive. Even when he was "only" 20 years old, he was stronger than most mages in earthland. He had to become stronger daily; otherwise, he wouldn't have survived. Many people were after his Devil Slayer Magic, and a group of S-Rank Mages targeted him. Naruto encountered one or two mages from his old world while living in Earthland. He had to kill them because they had nothing good in mind and were after Naruto.

A light emerged from the clouds and hit Mystogan, standing on the cliff's edge. "This is goodbye, Naruto. I am sure we will see each other again," said Mystogan. Naruto closed his book and pushed himself away from the tree.

"I will protect Fairy Tail, don't worry," said Naruto.

"I know. I hope you can also step over your shadow in the future, Naruto. You have shown Makarov and me time after time again you aren't the monster you described yourself as," said Mystogan before he was sucked into the swirling vortex of clouds in the sky.

Naruto looked after Mystogan and stayed silent. When Mystogan and the light vanished, the clouds began to normalize again. Naruto closed his eyes, and the book vanished in a golden light. He turned around and thought, 'I have no right to leave the shadows. Not after everything I did in the elemental nations. Fairy Tail is too good for me.'

He began to walk away and opened his eyes. 'But don't worry, I will protect them. This is the least I can do to repay everything you and Makarov Dreyer did for me,' thought Naruto before the wind began to swirl around him, and he vanished into the wind.

"I see… so he returned to Edolas," said Makarov. He stood outside of Magnolia in a forest. Before him stood Mystogan… or rather Naruto disguised as Mystogan.

"Yes. Mystogan returned to his world because he had managed to get it under control. He still has a lot to deal with, but I am sure he will succeed," said Naruto.

"What will you do now, Naruto?" asked Makarov. He looked into the young man he encountered eight years ago when he appeared through a portal full of blood and with heavy injuries.

"Don't worry, master. I will play my role as Mystogan and work in the background like always. This is the least I could do to pay you back for letting me join your wonderful guild," said Naruto before he turned around and walked away.

Makarov sighed and looked after the young man who saved more than just one of his children. It was always like this. Even when Naruto had just joined Fairy Tail, he wouldn't show himself and stay hidden. No one knew he was part of the guild. He only met Makarov outside Magnolia, mostly at night when everyone was sleeping. Makarov gave Naruto a new quest and a report about what he had done, and after that, Naruto would vanish again for a few months.

Makarov wished he could help this broken young man. He had proven countless times that he wasn't the monster he described himself as. Naruto was a broken young man who had to go through things in his life that no child should have. He experienced things no one should experience.

To name one of his children, he saved: Lisanna, Mirajane, and Elfman. If Naruto hadn't been in earthland, Elfman would have killed Lisanna when he lost control over his Take-Over Magic. Mirajane knew that someone had saved her little sister, but to this day, only Makarov knew of this. Naruto saved many members of Fairy Tail when they couldn't handle the situation themselves. But he always did it in a way so no one could either see him or not recognize him.

"Wait a moment, Naruto," said Makarov.

Naruto stopped and looked over his shoulder. "Would you be willing to stay in Magnolia for the next three days?" Makarov asked.

"Why?" asked Naruto.

"You should know why," said Makarov and had a severe look. "My children will also participate in this alliance."

Naruto sighed and thought, 'Requip.' He was bathed in a golden light before he wore the same clothes he wore when he said goodbye to Mystogan. He turned around and said, "As you wish, master. I will obey your command."

Makarov sighed when Naruto said this. He never denied Makarov a wish, no matter how ridiculous the wish was. Naruto was raised and trained to follow commands. It was hammered deep into his soul and his character. Since Naruto thought he had a debt to repay, he always said it like he would have to carry out an order.

Makarov hoped that Naruto would relax a bit in the next three days. He knew Naruto would follow his children on their way to deal with one of the dark guilds of the Balam Alliance. Naruto would only interfere when his children couldn't handle the situation anymore. It was always like this, and because of that, Makarov didn't have any concerns. As long as Naruto watched over his children while they gained new experiences, they could go all out. Naruto would save them if they couldn't handle the situation.

"Shall we return? I let your house clean while you were away," Makarov said with a smile. Naruto nodded and followed Makarov back to Magnolia. "Why don't you continue writing your book, my boy? You have talent, and you should use the next three days. Who knows? You may even meet a nice and sweet girl," Makarov said.

Naruto chuckled when he heard those words: "I will think about continuing to write my book, but you should know I will never have a girlfriend, master. No one would want me if they knew what I have done in the elemental nations."

"You never know if you wouldn't try, my boy," said Makarov.

"I am sure, master. I also don't deserve the love of a woman. This love is better directed toward someone else who deserves the love of a woman," said Naruto.
