Ill
Part 2
Author Notes: We're back my friends. Holidays are right around the corner and with it cold season-which works perfectly for this little two shot. Anyways let's get this going. I do not own Pokemon.
Last Time...
At least one of the members was able to quickly recover from the shock. His mouth firm as he gives out orders. "What about you sir?" The elder man, turns his attention away from his allies. Narrowing as a steady stream of smoke goes towards the sky.
Time was of the essence. "I'll speak to Iscan and see if he can help us with acquiring the proper medical care for her. It's too far a trek to the village." He could only hope the Diamond clan would be willing to assist them.
3rd P.O.V
The first thing she heard when she finally came to, was the sound of pages turning, and the crackling of a roaring fire. For a moment she lays there, trying to will away the pounding in her head and aches overtaking her body.
However...as soon as the typical 'what happened to me?' question pops up, it hits her. Like a ton of rocks, she remembers what DID happen and rather what she was dealing with before she collapsed. With energy she didn't even realize she had, she rises to a sitting position, shaky and breathless.
She had to get up. Her crew was still dealing with a swarm of bug pokemon. She needed to- "Hey hey, easy." A cold hand found its way to her shoulder, making her flinch. Her vision clears as the owner of that hand goes to their knees, meeting her gaze.
"Adaman?" She sounded absolutely awful. Like she swallowed chunks of rocks. His brows furrow in concern as he moves strands of hair out of her face. "Relax. You've got a fever." This wasn't the time to be resting, no matter how tempting it sounded to her.
Work needed to get done. So she tries to plant her hands to the opposite sides of her, as if she was going to push herself out of bed. But all too soon, before she could even try, black spots started to form.
Making it hard to focus. "B-but the others. The pokemon." He purses his lips as he moves his hand. From her shoulder to her forehead. It takes everything within her to not lean into the touch. Shishi didn't need a doctor to know she felt far worse than before.
But that didn't stop her from making the attempt. Much to Adaman's worry. "What you need to do is rest. Your ninetales came out to help your flareon take care of the swarm, and your fellow members grabbed me and Iscan."
All too soon his hand leaves her, his bandaged fingers soaked. Guilt immediately fills her. "Sorry..." Why was it so hard to breathe? Why couldn't she get her shit together? "For what?" For everything...that was what she wanted to say.
But something told her that it wasn't going to make the situation any better. "Being gross...?" A snort escapes him as he shifts to the side, allowing his warden to check her condition. "Your temperature keeps fluctuating. Right now, your priority should be to rest." Immediately she tries to shake her head.
Her already struggling sight was worse, her nausea getting worse. "I-I can't." Sympathy could be seen through both male's eyes. Already able to predict whatever half-baked retorts or arguments forming in her mind.
Iscan offers her a small smile. "I've already gotten word to Captain Cyllene and Professor Laventon that you will be staying here. Paulina said she would be more than happy to stay with you while Adaman and I stay at the Survey Corps base camp."
The guilt was spreading faster, and stronger. "I don't..." She wasn't trying to be rude, she really wasn't. But this was exactly why she didn't like being sick. She felt weak and helpless, people were worried and forced themselves to take care of her.
And even worse, her emotions were off balance. "!?" What was already a sensitive trainer became a blubbering mess. Making the timid Iscan panic and rush out. "I-I'm getting Paulina!" Leaving the Diamond clan leader with his own anxiety and unsure what to do with a crying, sick girl.
"I'm sorry...s-rry." Shishi was coughing, choking on her own tears as she covers her eyes. Adaman stayed there, biting his lip as he desperately tried to wrack his brain for something-anything to calm her down.
He thought he had a good idea as to the kind of person she was. Them being friends since first meeting, he thought he knew her, yet he felt unsure in the face of this new side of her. Her so vulnerable and upset over her own weakness.
Revealing regret and guilt over him dealing with her in this condition. Being unable to properly handle what was essentially an easy mission. Being incapable of properly speak to him. It was baffling. It was ridiculous.
There was nothing to be ashamed of getting sick-everyone reaches their limits. As much as he goes on to being productive and not wasting time, he never would say such things when it risks one's health. And illness, as terrifying as it could be was a strong sign of overdoing it. Of the body saying 'enough.'
She didn't need to feel so upset over all this. And in any case, overwhelming herself further would only make her condition worse. "Shishi..." But it seemed he didn't need to come up with some sort of idea after all, as his leafeon and Shishi's ninetales was more than up to the task of be ridding her tears.
The two tag team and nuzzle her. Licking her tears while giving soft, comforting purrs. Her soft sobs shift subtly into sniffles. Shaking hands hesitatingly reach for her partners' soft fur. Causing leafon to gently nudge her side, as if encouraging for more pets his way.
Adaman watches in relief as the tears begin to fade, leaving behind puffy eyes and angry red streaks on her cheeks. "Sorry..." Once more his fingers reach, removing the hair that hid away her face.
"There's no reason to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong. Are you hungry?" Her expression scrunches at the idea. "Not really." She really didn't think she could eat. Not with the way her stomach was rumbling in discontent.
Still, when the clan leader offers her a small serving of soup, she at least attempts a few bites. But all too soon she gently pushes the bowl away. Her body bends, folding into a ball with a soft whimper. The last thing she wants is to throw up. A thing that her stomach was all too willing to disagree with.
Counting quietly, she stills, desperate to keep her meal down. Startled slightly when that same, damn hand rubs soothing circles on her back. "I don't know what I can do to help. But I remember Mai doing this to me when I was younger."
He would do whatever he could. "That...feels nice." How long has it been since she's had someone that wasn't her pokemon offer her such a kind hand? Someone to be in her personal space to provide comfort.
Several minutes tick away, and the nausea though is still there, lessens enough to where it doesn't seem like she's going to upchuck her latest meal. "Why don't you lay down? Get some more rest." It was more of a gentle demand instead of a request.
The young man, guiding her to lay on her side. "W-will you stay?" He gives her a soft smile as their pokemon cuddles up close to the sick trainer. "Of course. Iscan should be here with Paulina soon. And when they get here, we can give you some medicine to help you feel better."
Satisfied with his answer, her eyes flutter shut. Despite her hesitance, she quickly submits to her exhaustion. "Thank Almighty Sinnoh...sleep well Shishi." Sitting down next to her, he picks up Shishi's pokedex, returning to the page he left off on.
Once more marveling at the incredible detailed drawings and summaries of the pokemon she's come across. "If anyone's deserved a break, it's you." Seeing all of her observations and efforts shown in these entries, only further confirmed his thoughts on the matter.
And he intended to make sure she gets what she needs to recover.
to be continued
Author Notes: Can we talk about how awkward I make this man? We don't really see it, but I can imagine him not really being able to handle girls crying...then again...there are some drama kings in his clan so who knows.
Either way I'm happy. Next set of chapters is going to be a completely off the rails story. Fun times await~ But that is it for now. Guys thank you all so much for reading. If you like this story please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me.
