I opened my eyes at the sight of bright lights which prompted me to squint to get my sight adjusted. I was greeted by a smiling woman who seemed...bigger than me, like she was a giant holding me. It didn't take too long for me to realize that I had become a baby.

Watching too many isekai animes has its uses, I guess. And what do you know? I got isekai'd, for some reason. What was the cause of my death anyway?

I try to remember, but all I could remember was dreading and exhausting myself to sleep after seeing the bills I had to pay surrounded by a small and dirty apartment. Wait...did I got reincarnated because I was depressed?

"Dear, I do not care." The woman, seemingly my mother, replied. "After two times we've failed to conceive a child, I do not care if he doesn't cry." He brought me closer to her face and planted a kiss on my forehead. "All I care is that he's here, alive and healthy."

"Well, other than the lack of tantrum, your baby is physically healthy." That's the doctor alright. "But it seems..."

"What is it, doctor?" My father asked, concern began to lace on his expression.

"Hm, I have received reports that you're formerly a magician, yes?" The doctor asked for clarifications.

"Yes, not the best one but good enough." My father replied, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Well, it seems your child is, for the lack of a better term, magicless."

My father frowned in confusion. "Magicless? Are you saying my son bares no mana whatsoever? No spirit energy?"

"Well, yes." The doctor came into my view and he began to take out a magnifying glass, I can guess that it isn't a normal one. "I wasn't sure of it earlier since he just came out but now, even with this Magic Item, I can't see any trace of mana."

"That's impossible, all living beings needs mana to live." My father was in disbelief, but strangely, my mother only kept smiling at me as if she didn't care I had magic or not.

"Hm...it is strange indeed." The doctor places back his "Magic Item". "Well, he might be a late bloomer so the mana traces are too small to be detected using my Magic Item. That's the only conclusion I have."

"I...hope that's the case." My father then with his index finger, caress my cheeks softly. "I don't want my son to be vulnerable to the Mamono."

Mamono? Where have I heard of that term before...?

"Dear." My mother called. "It's okay, we're going to raise him. Slowly, slowly and gently." Her smile was so...kind, gentle, loving...

It was unlike anything I had ever seen.

My father smiled as he softly rustles my hair. "Of course, Sera."

I could only stare at the ceiling, unblinking. The only thought that occupies my mind is a question.

Why am I here?

Let's just say...this story's going to be quite tragic.
