Archie's p.o.v.
I'm heading to the Goullie's hideout to save Annabelle. I remember Jughead's reaction when I showed him the ransom note I got from Penny Peabody, saying that she kidnapped Annabelle and is holding her hostage at their hideout. The note also said that I had to come alone if I wanted her back alive.
"This is crazy, Arch!" I recall Jughead exclaiming while running a hand through his black hair. "let us come with you, please! You don't know Penny like I do. She'll kill Annie even if you do go alone."
I shook my head fiercely. I wouldn't allow my best friend to sacrifice himself again. I told him I could handle this myself and left without another word. Annabelle needed me.
As I near the Ghoullies' hideout, I see Annabelle sitting on a tree stump flanked by two Ghoullie members on either side, hands tied together in front of her. My heart leaps at the sight of her. She looks unharmed, except for a few cuts and bruises on her face and arms. Her royal purple dress is wrinkled and dirt-stained; her black hair is messy.
"Archie!" she calls out, relieved. Annabelle starts to stand, but a Ghoullie grabs her shoulder and pulls her back down.
"Not so fast, princess!" Penny's voice rings out in the air. She walks towards me and stands between me and the princess.
"You know the drill, Red," she begins. "Surrender yourself to our boss, and we'll let your precious Annabelle go."
"Not a chance," I say with resolve. "Now, let Annabelle go, Penny. She has nothing to do with this!"
Penny smirks wickedly. "If you want the princess back, then come get her." She signals for her army of Ghoullies to attack. I fought them off as best I could, but it wasn't long before they got the drop on me. Two of them hold my arms and a third one is punching me in the face.
I hear rustling in the trees and footsteps running towards us. Jughead soon arrives with a whole gang of Serpents. They help me fight off the Ghoullies.
"Go rescue your princess!" Jughead yells as he kicks at a Ghoullie. "We got this!"
I nod and run to Annabelle. Untying her hands, I help her up and embrace her.
"It's okay, Annie," I tell her as she cries into my shoulder. "You're safe now."
"My hero," Annabelle says, touching my cheek. We kiss.
