Chapter 4
"Alright let's go get beers" JJ says and Kiara follows into the chateau leaving Pope and John B on the dock.
"Hey how are you?" He asks Kiara who jumped on the counter and is sitting on it legs swinging.
"I'm worried about Sarah" she says and he nods, "I mean I get that he did a lot of horrible things but he was her dad"
he looks down "I definitely understand" he says. He walks towards her and goes in between her legs and puts a strand of hair behind her ear. She runs her hands through his hair. He smiles and rests his forehead against hers. "I love you"
"I love you more" he chuckles
"we are not starting this" he says looking up at her,
"ok" she leans down and kisses him,
he reluctantly pulls away after a moment "alright as much as I want to make out with you we should go back to the single ones" he says making her giggle.
Pope wakes up JJ and John B "we got to go to school guys. We have geometry test in 30 minutes"
Kiara looks over at them and shakes her head. She is not driving with them today, "hey I think I'm gonna meet you guys there" she goes over to JJ and kisses him "I love you" she says walking away
"luv yu to" he slurs out of sleepiness.
At the bonfire.
"Hey JJ let's dance" Kiara says dragging JJ away from Pope. She puts her arms around his neck and the sway to the music,
"I love you" JJ says and she smiles
"I love you too" he kisses her,
"get a room" one of their sorta friends yells. JJ gives them the middle finger and kisses her more passionately. His tongue swipes across her lips asking for entrance which she happily grants, she runs her hands through his hair when they hear "come on John B kick his ass" shit.
After the bow and arrow scene.
Kiara lets out a shaky breath once the guy leaves, "Kie" JJ goes and wraps his arms around her steadying her,
"he could have killed you" she whispers just for him to hear, he knows how close that arrow was to his head,
"I know" he whispers back,
"alright let's put this out and go inside"
Once the other two fell asleep Kiara went over to JJ, "hey Jayj?"
He opens his eyes and asks "what's wrong" panic seeping into his voice
"everything's fine. I just can't sleep" Kiara says and JJ nods and moves the blanket so she can climb in,
"I got you" he says wrapping his arms around her "I love you so much" he says and she smiles
"I love you too" she falls asleep in minutes. the safety of his arms lulling her to sleep.
Time jump.
After they rebury.
"Like we missed something?" JJ walks up to the tree "guys. Come here" he starts climbing the tree and Kiara follows he helps her up the final part and says "that looks like"
"the picture in the island room" Kiara says
"it's worth a shot right"
"yeah"
"go for it" JJ says
"no chance" Kiara says
"you do it" Sarah says
"I went in the storm drain"
"that's true" Pope says
"yeah no I'm gonna do it it's just…"
Kiara whispers "he's scared"
"I'm not scared dude"
"you seem scared" JJ is not looking at her but can hear the smile in her voice.
He sticks his hand into the dark and unknown hole (not stupid at all) he then starts screaming, everyone jumps to help him but he starts laughing "oh you asshole" Pope says
"your gonna regret that" Kiara says and he understands what that means. He ain't getting laid for a few days.
"What the frick? No absolutely not" Kiara says to JJ walking with Luke, she gets out of the car, "what is this?"
"Just get in the truck" JJ puts the bag in the bed of the truck,
"I'm sorry! The Twinkie's drowning right now Jayj" They walk towards the front of the car, "what is this"
he grabs her shoulders, "listen to me. I need to get into the marina at the island club. There's a boat there that can he can take. You got the sticker on your truck, 20 minutes that's all I need" he walks towards the other side of the car,
the Twinkie is gonna be a submarine in 20 minutes Jayj"
"I know Kie"
"Leave him and we can come back later"
he slams the car hood "the cops are after him. If I do this now I may never have to do this again" she sighs, she sees the panic in his face, and the hurt.
She walks to the drivers door and opens it telling luke "don't look at me"
JJ is in the store and Luke is drumming on the seats when Kiara says "you're a terrible father you know"
"yeah preach it to me. Set me straight." Kiara shakes her head in disgust,
"do you have any idea how special your son is? Like even a clue?"
"He's a thief is what he is" Kiara silently scoffs
"then what are you? You're just a wasted local salt who never did shit but get messed up and hustle people. Not exactly impressive"
Luke starts chuckling in the back, "you know, you sound just like your mama. She was just like that in high school. Always thought she was better than everyone else. Kook princess" he pauses for a moment before leaning up closer towards Kiara "you know I bet you're a lot like your mama. Slumming it with the bad boys. Are you a you grateful shit like she was?" Kiara begins to get angrier and angrier, "I bet you are, miss figure eight, hopping up their on your high horse, riding around in daddy's car-" she elbows him straight in the face. Hard.
(That moment was so badass)
"don't talk about my family" she won't mention how they have practically disowned her and seem very happy about it.
They drive up to the island club, "alright I'll be back" JJ says leaning over and kissing her,
"oh you two are dating." JJ gets out of the car and Luke says
"so you are like your mama" Kiara is very close to killing him but JJ drags him out of the car,
as they walk away Kiara says "hey Luke" he looks at her and gives him the middle finger.
Kiara walks up the dock as Luke drives away, "hey you good?" She asks JJ touching his back,
"I will be" he says and slings his arm around her and she does the same, they walk back to the truck like that.
"Jayj it's ok to miss him. I mean you've seen Sarah"
he nods "I know. But Sarah had good memories I had none"
Kiara nods "he's still your father. A horrible one but still. It's ok to be sad" she says grabbing his hand and he nods a tear streaming down his face, she begins to drive still holding his hand and just letting him cry.
(Time jump again)
"Hey Kie, drop your weed pen back there?" Shoupe asks shining the light at her,
"found it" she says
"sir this is all my fault I take 100 percent responsibility" Pope says
"oh really? Your parents reported the truck missing four hours ago. I'm taking you home or I'm arresting all of you for leaving the site of an accident" Shoupe says and Kiara sighs, "plumb" Shoupe says,
Kiara gets out goes to the passenger Window kisses JJ "I love you"
"love you too" she sighs "wish me luck" then walks towards the cop car.
On the way
"You know they kicked me out so I'm not sure how happy they are gonna be about this"
Plumb sighs "well now I'm wishing you good luck"
"But sorry is not gonna cut it anymore" her mom says
"I'm gonna tell you what's gonna happen. No more sneaking out of the house. No more treasure hunts. And no more Pogues"
"not even JJ?" Kiara asks beginning to cry
"especially JJ" her dad says
"well Mike" her mom begins to protest
"great so I can't see the man I love or else I'll be sent away" Kiara says heading towards the break room so she can ironically break.
"Kiara" her mom calls after her,
"just give me a minute" Kiara says her voice breaking.
JJ gets a text from Kiara as they are driving, ~kie: parents said I can't see you anymore or else I'm going to wilderness camp~~Jayj: and you choose to tell me this through text?~~kie: I didn't want to hear your voice. I'm sorry JJ. I will always love you• He texts her back but she doesn't answer, he throws his phone at the dashboard,
"whoa!" John B says
"dude" Pope
"Jeez" Sarah.
"Kie is not allowed to see us. Me. Or else she will be sent away" JJ says
"oh JJ" Sarah says touching his shoulder
"through text?"
John B asks
"John B!" Sarah says
"I mean I don't know if she has phone privileges and I know she can't sneak out." JJ says running a hand through his hair,
"they let me see her. I'll talk to her ok" Sarah says
"thanks sare" JJ says holding back tears.
"So uh. After this when I go home. I'm gonna be sent away." Pope sighs "I just want to make sure we are ok"
"huh"
"I know me and JJ really hurt and I just"
"We are fine" he says
"it just feels like-"
"Look kie. Yeah it sucked for a while but I saw how you guys were together. You two are meant for each other" he pauses then adds
"which is why you need to talk to him"
she begins to cry "I can't see his face. I can't kiss him knowing it's gonna be the last time for a long time. I can't hear him tell me her loves me. It's too hard" she says full on crying now
"imagine how this feels for him" she nods and takes a deep breath
"I Know"
They hug when they see each other but it's so small I didn't want to write it…
Anyways that's not the end… it's a long chapter but it just would have been to short and odd ending point if I did a fifth chapter.
"Just me and you" Kiara says and JJ smiles. She walks over and sits between his legs resting her back against his chest and he wraps his arms around her and rests his head on her shoulder.
"I've been thinking, when all this is over and we are just rolling in the dough. I'm gonna get a new board, deck it out and I'm gonna go on a surf trip" she smiles "I don't know where but like the world is calling. I don't know name a place"
"Spain" she says
"then after Spain south America or south Africa"
"your gonna go to South Africa?"
"One of the south places. The Micronesia maybe and then… just ride. Wherever the wave takes you. You know"
she smiles "got room for one more" he smiles
"always." He kisses her head "you got a passport" he asks
"you don't have a passport"
"hell no!" Before they could say anything else they hear Pope.
JJ flies overboard. "JJ" Kiara yells, she kicks the bad guy away and Jumps in after him. She turns him and holds him up, "JJ please wake up" she tries shaking him but decides against it. She needs to conserve energy, "JJ please" he can't die. He can't. She can't live without him. She won't live without him.
5 minutes later.
"John B help!" She screams "I'm sorry JJ I'm so sorry" she begins to go underwater, her legs are shaking, she comes back up using all her strength,
"JJ!" She hears John B yell, relief floods through her but it only lasts a second when she realizes JJ is still unresponsive.
"No no no" John B says, Kiara goes under when They grab JJ and her out of the water. When they are on the boat she spits out a little water and goes to JJ, they get farther from the boat (the big one) then the engine goes out. "We gotta go" everyone says but she's focused on JJ "JJ please wake up. I love you! Please!" She's shaking him. Nothing. *cough cough* he jolts up spitting water out. "Oh my god" he looks around and sees Kiara touching his arm and crying so being JJ he lightens the mood "sup" he says in a seductive voice, she pushes his head away and the others make comments. She grabs his face and kisses him.
"Wow" he says when she pulls away. "what happened" he asks.
After they explain it Kiara whispers "I thought you were dead" he grabs her hand.
"I love you Jayj" Kiara whispers to JJ as they fall asleep
"I love you too Kie" they may be stranded on an island with no escape, but neither of them felt more free. If only they knew this was just the start…
End of book.
