That Day Will Come

"Trip, look out!" I called out, as we both ducked under the swinging blade pendulum. "There are all sorts of dangerous traps down here so be careful!" As my wife and I ran along through the tunnels and passageways of the ruins beneath flicky island, we rush ducked and dodged to avoid all of the death traps and deadly obstacles the original builders of the temple had put here. It seemed like around every corner there was a new peril, and through every passageway new danger was awaiting us.

"Try to stay ahead of the blades, honey, I don't want them taking your head off."

Trip gave me an incredulous look shaking her head.

"Yes, I know I am in just as much Danger from getting my head cut off as you are getting yours chopped." I sigh, responding to her thoughts. " I just worry about you a lot that's all." She frowned it me, as we both spin dashed past several swinging spiked balls on chains that nearly crushed us.

"Yes, I know that you worry about me too, honey." I agree with her unspoken statement, as we both leap over a pit filled with spikes. "But I have been doing this a lot longer than you have, and I think I might just be a little more experienced trap dodging than you are." My wife gave me a knowing look, as we both performed a drop Dash to avoid a bunch of poison darts being shot out of the wall on either side.

"Okay, now you're just teasing and making fun of me. You know very well I'm not trying to imply that I'm better than you at this in any way." I groan, as we both race past a set of walls better beginning to close in in a really long corridor. "Hey, I think that we are almost at the end of this maze. That means that the Deep Power Stone piece is probably just ahead!" My wife and I come into a large chamber, with carvings and decorations of owls fighting echidnas depicted in battle scenes covering every wall. In the very center of the room, we found the Deep Power Stone we were looking for resting on a pedestal. It was fairly obvious to both of us that it was a trap, and there was no getting around removing the stone and setting it off. Both of us let out a sigh, as I reached out and took the Stone from its pedestal. Right on cue, the pedestal began to sink into the floor after I had grabbed the prize.

But then something really amazing started to happen. the carvings of the owls in the kidneys on the wall, suddenly burst forth from their murals, coming to life. The stone warriors brandish their spears, slowly closing in on us, as my wife gave me a surprised and terrified look.

"Yes, they came to life, I noticed." I replied, as the living stack is the living stone statues closed in on the two of us. "I sense chaos magic at work here, the kind used by both the owls and thier echidna foes."

The stone carvings come to life Rushed at us, and we soon found ourselves fighting ancient warriors made of far sterner stuff then the usual badniks we had to fight. Our usual spin dash attacks didn't seem to be doing much damage, but my super strong punches and kicks, along along with powerful attacks from my wife's spiked armored tail, managed to crack and shatter are rock hard foes into tiny pieces. but are silent stony foes managed to land several blows on us, even as we shattered many of their number. slowly but surely, we fought our way back up the tunnel, the only saving grace being all the traps had already been set at set off on our way down.

As we made our way back towards the surface, weakening every step of the way from our rock hard battle with endless waves of mural carvings brought to life, we both saw the light that led the way out of the tunnel .

"Okay this is it the service is just ahead!" I told my lifemate in relief. "We just keep up the fight for a little farther, and we're home free!" But at that moment we saw the gizords come charging down the tunnel, and we both knew the mad doctor had betrayed us. The two of us braced ourselves getting ready for the fight of our Lives. With the Enemy pouring in from both sides, we- -huh, what's that? Yes dear I'm sorry dear I didn't realize you had company coming over . of course I'll help you clean up the living room , as well as taking the trash out. just let me finish telling our guests about ... huh? Yes dear, right away dear. all right darling I'll see our guests out.

I'm sorry everyone but I'm going to have to continue this story at a different time. Trip is invited some of her own friends over and I promised I would help clean the house up when that happened. But don't worry, I promise you I will continue this story as soon as we are able. Hey, why are you giving me that amused look? why are you laughing at what I just said?

Hey, I'll have you know Trip is one of the kindest sweetest spouses that I know of, so no need to make fun of her like that. Well if you fellas are going to insult my wife, and perhaps you don't need to come back here at all. I mean, why the heck would you go to the house of someone that you spend your time making fun of? that totally does not make any sense, have you more than happy to invite to someone else over to hear my tails .

Heh, that's okay, apology accepted. we all make mistakes, am l right? well talk to you all next time, where we will finish up this little part of the tale...
