Veronica's p.o.v.
I'm standing outside my cousin Annabelle's house. It's small and quaint. It's been three days since I confronted my dad about Archie's false imprisonment. Since the court date, I haven't seen her. According to Jughead and Betty, she hasn't been at Pop's. It's like she vanished.
I knock on her door hesitantly. After a few minutes, she opens it. The princess looks like a wreck; her long, dark hair is messy. She's wearing a simple royal blue day dress and carrying an empty duffle bag.
My heart breaks; my poor cousin doesn't deserve this. She should be with her true love.
"Veronica, what are you doing here?" Annabelle whispers.
"I came to see how you're holding up and apologize for my dad," I say, shuffling.
"Oh, okay. Would you like to come in?" Annabelle steps to the side and lets me in. The inside of the house is spacious compared to the outside. There's a living room, dining room, and a small kitchen. From where I'm standing, I can see a bedroom and bathroom tucked in one corner of the house.
"So, how have you been?" I ask.
"I've been okay," she answers, walking.
Annabelle goes to her bedroom, and I follow her. She starts packing her clothes into the bag.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"Home."
"What? You're leaving Riverdale?" I exclaim. Annabelle whirls around to face me, tears brimming in her eyes.
"I screwed up, Ronnie! Archie is going to rot in that jail, maybe even die in there, all because I didn't listen to your dad and left when I had the chance or join his side. Face it, I don't get the guy!"
I fold my arms across my chest, "I can't believe what I'm hearing, Annie; you're a Lodge, for crying out loud! Lodges don't quit. Also, can't you see that you're letting my dad win by letting him tear you two apart? You can't just abandon Archie in his time of need."
The princess sighs sadly, "I don't know what that name means anymore. It doesn't matter anyway, as I'm never going to see him again; your dad-my uncle made it clear that if I ever go near Archie again, he'll have him executed on the spot."
I curse my dad under my breath and soften my gaze at Annabelle as she plops down on her bed and buries her face in her hands, sobbing.
"Annabelle, stop; you're the bravest person I know; don't let my dad ruin that."
"But what about Archie?" she asks, "I'd give anything to see him again."
I cross my arms and smirk, "What if I told you there was a way to do just that?"
She shakes her head nervously, "Ronnie, no, I don't want to get in any more trouble."
I put my arm around her and said, "Archie loves you, Annie, you know that. I admit when you and him first started dating, I was jealous, even though I broke up with him two months earlier, but now, I've seen how he looks at you. I've never seen him look at any girl that way, including me." I say.
"I know, and I love him, too. I want to marry him one day when I return to my kingdom. I don't know what to do now," she sighs.
"I know, I know. But Archiekiens is strong. Believe me." I say.
She looks up at me. "So, you said you found a way that I could see Archie again?"
All I do is smile.
