Unknown Origins Chapter 2
As Sonic was on his way to the place Eggman was attacking. He got a call from Tails again, so he picked up the phone and answered, "Hey Tails what's up?" "Hey, Sonic bad news it seems the Tornado was more damaged than I thought from our last fight with Eggman. So, it would seem that you are on your own this time when fighting Eggman unless you want me to call Amy or Knuckles to help you out?" said Tails on the other line.
"Nah, I got this Tails no need to call in Amy or Knuckles for backup," said Sonic in a confident tone. "Well, if you say so Sonic. Good luck." said Tails. "Thanks, Tails," said Sonic. The phone call then ended, and Sonic continued on his way.
As Sonic was getting closer to the place that Eggman attacked that is when he saw a familiar face in the distance he hadn't seen in a while and that mobian was Shadow. Shadow seemed to be heading in the same direction that he was heading to. Usually with Shadow it could be either a good or bad thing when he shows up.
Having a few rough encounters with the other hedgehog or once in a great while putting aside old grudges to work with him just for the fights against Eggman though when the world is in danger. He isn't sure how this interaction with Shadow will go this time around.
'Guess I'll see what Shadow is doing here.' thought Sonic running to Shadow's location. Sonic was running to Shadow while he was thinking to himself about the mission that he had been assigned to while at the same time gliding on his airshoes to Eggman's location.
'The mission is to get the flash drive that Eggman has, but knowing GUN even though they aren't what they were in the past I don't think I should give them the flash drive. Enough of the Professor's findings and research has been used for their selfish purposes in the past I'm not going to take the chance that someone in GUN will. The best thing to do is to destroy the flash drive that way no one can get their hands on it.'
As Shadow was thinking he suddenly paused his thinking and stopped gliding on his air shoes and sensed chaos energy coming from behind him, and it was moving towards him, so he reacted and was about to punch his target when he heard a voice that sounded familiar. "WAIT!" Now recognizing the voice and seeing who he was about to hit, he paused his attack a few inches from his face.
"Hey Shadow, long time no see," said Sonic in a kind of nervous tone with Shadow's fist a few inches away from his face. Shadow not looking amused spoke, "Tell me why I shouldn't continue my attack right here right now." "Oh, come on Shadow is that any way to talk to an old friend who you haven't seen in a while?" Sonic speaking in a cocky tone a bit with a cocky smile.
"Losing my patients," said Shadow in an angry tone. "Oh, alright I was on my way to stop one of the egghead's latest schemes when I saw you were heading in the same direction towards Eggman and I was curious. I wanted to see what you are doing here. Are you happy now?" said Sonic in a sarcastic tone with a frown on his face and with his arms crossed with Shadow's fist still close to his face while he did this.
Shadow then gave glared at Sonic took his fist away from Sonic's face and spoke "That is none of your business." "It seems to me that you wouldn't be here unless it was for something important right?" said Sonic. Shadow didn't answer at first and still glaring in his direction saying, "I don't have time to deal with you so stay out of my way faker." walking away getting ready to make his way to Eggman he then speeded away, but not without another certain hedgehog following and dashing right beside him.
As soon as Sonic was beside Shadow Sonic said" Hey, who are you calling faker? Also don't think I'm going to let you hog all the badniks for yourself." in his usual cocky tone. Shadow gets irritated he knows how fast Sonic goes and as much as he hates to admit it Sonic is faster than him, but he isn't going to admit that to anyone else. If he were to try to dash away from Sonic he would just end up following him anyway.
So, he decided and said, "Fine just don't slow me down." "Shadow you know me by now do I ever do any slow?" said Sonic with a cocky grin and in a cocky tone while running by Shadow. Shadow just eye-rolled at what Sonic said and just continued gliding with his air shoes. Thinking to himself "I guess with Sonic along he could make for a good distraction for Eggman while I get to the flash drive to see what it is on it then destroy it."
Both then make their way to the village that Eggman is attacking.
Eggman was causing destruction everywhere from homes to businesses you name it. Mobians were running for their lives trying to avoid getting hurt by flying debris from the badniks destroying buildings. Eggman lets out an evil laugh "Ho Ho HA HA!" "That hedgehog won't know what's coming to him. With all this destruction this will surely bring out Sonic," said Eggman with an evil grin on his face.
"Badniks keep it up until Sonic shows up and focus your attacks on him!" said Eggman ordering his badniks. However, after waiting 5 minutes for Sonic to show up Eggman was getting impatient and said, "Where is that blasted hedgehog?!"
"Doesn't that hedgehog not know that I'm destroying this village?!" said Eggman in an angry tone. Then Eggman thought of something that might lure Sonic out in the open. "If that Sonic won't show up, I'll make him show himself."
"Badniks burn the rest of this village to the ground leaving nothing standing," said Eggman. Just as the badniks were about to follow their orders a fast blur came and destroyed their weapons. "What the!?" said Eggman in a surprised shocked tone. He realized that only one thing can run that fast and that would be Sonic.
"What's up egghead?" said Sonic in a cocky tone with a cocky grin appearing on his face. What Eggman said next surprised him a bit "It is about time you showed up!" "Wait what?" said Sonic sounding a little confused. Not knowing what to do or say. I mean he was late before to one of his fights with Eggman and he never complained before so why now?
Eggman regained his composure "Well not that it matters anyway." with an evil grin on his face. Sonic not knowing what that was all about also regained his composure with a serious look on his face and spoke "You're going down Eggman and you're not going to get away with hurting all those innocent mobians and destroying their homes."
"We'll see about that hedgehog," said Eggman in an evil tone with an evil grin. Eggman then gave commands to his badniks "Destroy that hedgehog." The badniks obeyed Eggman's orders and started attacking Sonic. Sonic then dodged all the badniks attacks and then destroyed some of the badniks with a spin dash.
As Sonic was dodging an attack from one of Eggman's badniks Sonic went to thinking 'Wonder where Shadow is? Knowing him he'll show himself half through the fight all well no use trying to overthink it.'
As Sonic was fighting Eggman Shadow used that as the perfect opportunity to see what was on the flash drive and then destroy it in the Egg Fleet ship. Shadow boarded the Egg Fleet ship and started to look in a couple of rooms to try to find the research room. After looking in many rooms throughout the ship and still not finding the research room Shadow was getting frustrated "Where can that room be?"
Just as he was saying this, he found the research room. "Here it is. Now where could that flash drive be." As Shadow was looking around Shadow thought of something that might not be good. 'What if Eggman saved the information from the flash drive into his main computer? If that is the case, I better check to make sure. I guess I could search for the information on his main computer I just have to hack into it. Then look to see if the flash is in this room.'
Shadow spotted the main computer and made his way over to it and started to hack into it. He would have to make sure he hacked it right so Eggman wouldn't be alerted to his anticity. As Shadow was looking through the files, he didn't spot anything that seemed important so far and he spotted some files that stood out from the rest. They said Project X.
So, he decided to start looking through them. What he found shocked him to his core he didn't know what to think. He started to look through the files he found again to make sure he didn't misread anything. As soon as he did it turns out he did read it correctly. He was speechless he didn't move from the spot where he read the files for a few minutes.
Thinking to himself. 'Professor this is what you been working on this entire time. The Professor must have had a good reason for doing this. But why didn't he tell me? Especially finding out that Sonic is my brother. I would have never thought that faker of all mobians would be my brother. Sure, we share a few similar characteristics but does mean that I ever thought he was my brother. From what I saw from Maria I don't think she knew of Sonic's existence. Even I didn't know.'
'What I do know is that GUN mustn't find out about this. It's one thing with me being in GUN, but with Sonic if they find out that he's my brother they would want him to join GUN as well. Knowing Sonic he'll say no he doesn't like being stuck in one spot for too long. Whatever information Eggman had on that flash drive he must have decided to put on his main computer while he decided to have the flash drive as a backup just in case. Meaning Eggman must have read the information already.'
Done thinking to himself he started looking for the flash drive to see if it was in the research room, but no luck. Shadow thought to himself again. 'That means this whole attack is just one big trap for Sonic. I better hurry and get to Sonic. But first I should wipe anything related to the Project X files and delete them for good. I had no luck finding the flash drive Eggman must have it. He probably decided to keep it on him in case someone came looking for it.'
Shadow started deleting the files he found from Eggman's main computer and after waiting a few minutes he successfully deleted all the files on Project X. Shadow then made his way out of the research room to get to Sonic. "I may have lost many things in the past but finding out I have a brother I'll not lose him to," said Shadow in a serious tone. Making his way back to the battle.
As Shadow was gone for a while on Eggman's Egg Fleet Sonic was busy battling many of Eggman's Badniks. He was starting to get a little tired. Sonic sweating a bit and panting spoke "Is that all you got Eggman?" "Oh, I got a lot more planned hedgehog," said Eggman with an evil look.
"Say hello to E-103 Gamma Mark 2 a more proven version and make him a lot stronger than Omega," said Eggman with an evil smirk. Sonic saw the robot and then got a cocky smile and said, "Really egghead I down this badnik before and I doubt that this Badnik is stronger than Omega."
"Oh, looks like someone is cocky that will be your downfall hedgehog," said Eggman with a cocky tone of his own. "We'll see about that egghead," said Sonic sticking his tongue at Eggman. When Eggman saw this, he got mad "Destroy him!"
The Gamma Mark 2 obeyed Eggman's orders and blasted missiles towards him, but he dodged them like they were nothing. "You got to do better than that," spoke Sonic as he kept dodging each missile getting blasted at him.
Sonic was preparing to do a spin dash to land an attack on Gamma Mark 2. He ran to Gamma and did his spin dash, but to Sonic's surprise, his attack did hardly anything just noticing of little bit a damage he did to it and grunting in pain a bit.
"What gives Eggman what is that badnik made of?" said Sonic looking in Eggman's direction. "That is my secret hedgehog," said Eggman. "Well, whatever it is made of it is going down," said Sonic in a serious tone. Sonic went running around the Gamma Mark 2 and sent a homing attack at it and it did some damage to it, but not enough.
Sonic then got slammed to the ground by Gamma M2 with his badnik hand holding Sonic in place. Sonic was trying his best to escape from Gamma M2's grip on him trying to move fast to get out of his grasp, but the badnik just put more pressure on Sonic the more he moved. Sonic felt like he could barely breathe each time the badnik squeezed him harder.
Just when Sonic was trying to think of another way to escape Eggman shouted "Gamma M2 stop your attack, keep the hedgehog in place." Sonic was confused 'Why did he order his badnik to stop attacking him?'
"Hey Eggman, afraid I might wreck your badnik and so you ordered it to stop so I wouldn't do more damage to it," said Sonic in a cocky tone with a cocky grin on his face. But on the inside, he was kind of grateful that Eggman ordered his badnik to stop because he couldn't think of any way to escape.
"Oh, far from it Sonic. I just wanted to show you something that I think you'll find most interesting," said Eggman with a sly evil grin. Not liking the look on Eggman's face Sonic countered with a cocky grin and tone "It can't be that interesting."
"I beg to differ Sonic. I would say I found something that even you would probably want to know," said Eggman. "Oh yeah like what?" said Sonic in an arrogant tone. "Something that you don't even know about yourself," said Eggman with an evil grin. "I know plenty about myself egghead," said Sonic with a cocky grin. But in reality, he was bluffing sure he knows who is today, but he doesn't know about his past. In truth, he didn't think about all that much that is until a few weeks ago and he decided to talk about his problems to Knuckles.
Eggman laughed "HO! HO! HA! HA!" "Oh, really I say the files I found on this flash drive tell a different story," said Eggman sounding cocky. Sonic's cocky smile faded from his face and instead, a serious look appeared on it, and he said, "What are you talking about Eggman what files on a flash drive?"
"Ha! Now you sound interested," said Eggman. "I'm not interested egghead it's just that you with an unknown flash drive with unknown information on it could cause trouble for everyone else," said Sonic. "You see Sonic there is nothing very useful to me on that flash drive. I just thought I would share some information with you. That is why I attacked this village to lure you out in the open." said Eggman.
A scowl formed on Sonic's face, and in a serious voice he said, "So that is why you attacked this village just to show me a stupid flash drive!" "Well, when you put it that way yes that is exactly what I did," said Eggman laughing. Sonic didn't get mad often but when he did you would wish that you didn't. "You're not going to get away with this Eggman! If you think that I'm going to look at that flash drive, you got another thing coming!"
Eggman was getting a little mad because he wanted Sonic to lose the will to fight finding out about the information. But Sonic wouldn't even look at files on it. He'll just have to tell Sonic directly. Sonic probably won't believe him, but he would want proof and that will get him to see the information on the files. "Oh, really not even when it says on it that you're a creation of my grandfather Gerald Robotnik and that you are Shadow's younger brother?" said Eggman with an evil grin on his face.
Sonic was shocked when Eggman said that, but regaining his composer thinking it is just a trick he said "Ha very funny egghead. I didn't know you were a comedian." "So, you don't believe me," said Eggman. "What do you think Eggman?" said Sonic in a sarcastic tone. "I don't blame you for not believing me after all I didn't believe it either when I first read it. I even did a DNA test with both your quill and Shadow's, and it turns out it was almost complete but with some differences between the both of you," said Eggman in a sarcastic pity tone.
"I even have proof on paper about the DNA results," said Eggman. Then moving his Eggmobile with the paper hands to show Sonic while the Gamma M2 held Sonic in place. Having no choice Sonic was forced to look at the results on the paper and from looking at the paper as Sonic looked at it more the more, he started to doubt that if this was a trick from Eggman.
Then Sonic finally gave in and said "Alright Eggman you win I'll see what is on those files." Eggman having a cocky smile on his face said, "I knew that you would." "Just to see if you are telling the truth or not," said Sonic in an irritated tone. "Then I'll pull up the files on the drive and show you on my egg mobile," said Eggman as he was pulling up all the files that have to do with Project X. As Eggman got done pulling them up he started to show Sonic.
As Sonic was reading the files about Project X the more, he read the more was starting to realize that Eggman was telling him the truth. When he wanted to know where he came from this isn't what he met by finding out that he was artificially created not to mention being Shadow's younger brother. He was shocked for sure and speechless. He had a look of shock as well.
When Eggman saw, that Sonic was done looking he dismissed the files on the screen. Eggman had a big evil smile on his face. Looking at the way Sonic is right now. Eggman loves the look of devastation on Sonic's face. As much as he would like to witness this a little longer Eggman wasn't going to let this opportunity to destroy slip by.
Just as Eggman was going to order Gamma M2 to finish off Sonic while he was still distracted all of a sudden Gamma M2 was attacked and that caused the badnik to lose his grip on Sonic freeing him. With Eggman saying "What the?!" With smoke dust from the attack, it was hard to see who it was that attacked and freed Sonic. When the dust cleared it turned out that the attacker was Shadow.
"Shadow?!" said Eggman with a look of shock. Shadow looked around and saw the way Sonic looked and it looked like he was too late, and Sonic found out. Well, his mission is still the same to destroy the information that Eggman has. He looked in the direction of the badnik and it seemed that his attack did only a little bit of damage.
As much as he hates to admit it he was going to need Sonic's help if he wanted to destroy the flash drive and that meant destroying the badnik first and by how he was built he would guess that he would probably be as strong as Omega. Shadow turned to Sonic he then walked over to Sonic and it didn't look like Sonic even noticed him there. Shadow frowning then thinking that the only way to snap him out of it is to knock some sense into him.
So, Shadow punched Sonic in the face and that seemed to do it. Because as soon as he did Sonic snapped out of it and reacted "Ow! What gives Shads that hurt!" Shadow smirked that it worked then spoke "Glad to see you snapped out of it." "Snapped out of what..." said Sonic then pausing mid-sentence remembering what Eggman showed him. "Oh..." said Sonic in a quiet tone.
Looking at Sonic Shadow, said "Whatever Eggman told you or showed you we will talk about it later, but first..." Shadow pausing a bit continued in a grunt "I need your help." Sonic was surprised at Shadow admitting to needing help on something. Sonic then developed a bit of a cocky grin "What was that Shads?"
Grunting again "You heard what I said, Faker." "Just checking," said Sonic in a cocky tone. "Listen close Sonic I just need your assistance with destroying the badnik that is it. So, I can fulfill my mission for GUN. Got it." said Shadow making his way to the badnik. "You got it Shads. Also, look I won't ask what your mission is, but what I mean is you did save me after all, so I guess I owe you one," said Sonic putting his arms to his head following Shadow and appearing beside him.
Shadow looking at Sonic responded, "Look you just happened to be there and that badnik was in the way, so you don't owe me nothing." Shadow then looks to the badnik. Sonic looked at Shadow for a second and said," Sure Shadow." As Sonic turned to the badnik as well.
Eggman not looking pleased thought to himself mad 'That Shadow ruined everything! I was so close to defeating Sonic when Shadow showed up out of nowhere! Fine, I guess I get to destroy to hedgehogs.' Eggman then ordered his Gamma M2 "Destroy Sonic and Shadow!"
Sonic and Shadow looked at each other with Sonic responding first "You ready faker?" "I'm always ready." Shadow responding. Then both hedgehogs looked back in the direction of the badnik and both leaped up to attack the badnik.
Both Sonic and Shadow sent out their fists at the badniks center in which they both successfully landed their attack on the Gamma M2. But unlike last time a little more damage was done thanks to Shadow's help, but still not enough to break through the badnik.
Gamma M2 sent missiles out at Shadow and Sonic both of them successfully dodged the missiles they prepared to attack again well the missiles were coming back to them when it turned out that they were not original missiles they were heat-seeking missiles.
Both unprepared to dodge Sonic and Shadow got hit by the heat missiles. Eggman laughed evilly and responded with "Yes keep it up destroy those hedgehogs!" Shadow and Sonic survived the attack and weren't too hurt, but they sure weren't fine either. If they got hit by another one of those attacks they were done for.
Sonic getting up first from the attack made his way over to Shadow and said, "Shads are you alright?" Shadow seeing Sonic in his face with the worried look responded with "I'm fine let's focus on taking that badnik out once and for all."
"But how I barely made a dent on that thing and even with your help it still doesn't look like our attacks are piercing through the metal on it," said Sonic in an upset tone. Shadow looking at Sonic hearing what he said is when Shadow got an idea.
"Sonic I think I know of a way to defeat the badnik." said Shadow in a calm tone. "Well, I'm all ears, because I can't think of anything. Guess your plan is all we got," said Sonic. Shadow started to explain "Remember the dents that you and I put in it already?" "Yeah, what does that have to do with anything?" said Sonic.
"Well, I was thinking what if we hit the same spots over and over again that way the metal will end up weakening. Then we use the heat missiles to our advantage and use them against the badnik and we run in different directions. Then we both get the heat missiles to follow us, and we both run at the badnik at the same time and run quickly to get out of the way and hit it with its missiles and that should destroy it."
After listening to Shadow's plan Sonic thought it sounded good "I think that could work." Shadow nodded and responded with "Ready?" "Ready," said Sonic with a cocky grin. Both hedgehogs begin attacking in the same spots they attacked before, and Shadow's plan seems to be working because the metal on the badnik seems to be getting weaker.
But then the badnik fired regular missiles this time, but they both dodged them in time. Now they just needed to wait until the heat missiles to come and their chance was now so they both proceeded with the plan. Sonic ran in one direction while Shadow ran in the other with both heat missiles falling them. With both of them in their opposite directions both of them did one big loop and Sonic and Shadow ran at the badnik at high speeds with the heat missiles right on their tails.
At the last moment, they both pulled back from the heat missiles and the badnik got hit by both of the heat missiles. Then there was a big explosion with smoke and dust in the air. Both Sonic and Shadow looked back to see if they destroyed the badnik but it was filled with smoke and dust that they couldn't see. However, after a while, the smoke and dust cleared. They got a better look and seeing something they both entered a fighting stance in case they had to fight, but it turns out getting a closer look there were parts of the badnik everywhere which meant that they destroyed the badnik.
When Eggman saw this, he was furious "You blasted hedgehogs! That badnik took me weeks to complete!" "Well too bad egghead looks like we win," said Sonic in a cocky tone with Shadow behind Sonic giving Eggman a serious look. "Don't be so sure hedgehog I still have more badniks..." said Eggman as he looked back at him then pausing noticing that he had no more badniks. He looked all around and found out that before Shadow arrived Sonic destroyed all the other ones.
Shadow and Sonic noticed this Sonic responded with "Well look at that looks like you are all out of badniks Eggman." Eggman having a furious frown on his face responded with "You may have won this one hedgehog, but I'll be back." Just as Eggman was about to leave Shadow stopped him in his Eggmobile and said, "I believe that you have something I need."
"What are you talking about?" said Eggman. "You know exactly what I'm talking about Eggman." said Shadow with a serious look on his face. Thinking a few minutes he finally realized what Shadow was talking about. Getting mad he brought out the flash drive and threw it to Shadow. "There take it take the blasted thing," said Eggman about to leave when Shadow stopped him again. "What now?" said Eggman annoyed. "Just to make sure that you don't have the information backed up..." said Shadow pausing took his fist and slammed it down on Eggman's Eggmobile.
Eggman shocked and furious with the control panel in his Eggmobile fried all the information he got from the flash was destroyed. "Curse you Shadow!" responded Eggman with him retreating slowly thanks to Shadow recking his Eggmobile back to his lair. After Eggman was far away from view Shadow looked in his hand and saw the flash drive and crushed it.
Sonic saw this and responded, "Shadow don't you need that?" "No, I just needed to destroy it." Shadow responding. Though in truth he didn't want GUN to get the information. He'll just explain to GUN that the files held no important information in his report. "Well ok. Oh, by the way, Shadow I think now would be a good time for that talk you promised me," said Sonic with a little bit of a serious look.
Remembering what he said to Sonic he responded, "Yes I suppose I did. Very well follow me." Shadow glides fast away from Sonic on his air shoes. Sonic soon followed behind him.
Random Forest
After a while of running Shadow and Sonic found a quiet place to talk in a forest. Sonic found some tree trunks for them to sit on while they talked about what they both found out from the flash drive. Both walked over to the stumps and sat down.
For a few minutes, Sonic and Shadow just sat there awkwardly without either of them saying a word to each other. Sonic being the first to speak "So from what Eggman told me we are brothers. I thought at first that Eggman was trying to trick me as he always does, but then he showed me a DNA test with both of us with almost matching DNA.
Well, that is when I looked at the information on the flash drive to see if Eggman was telling the truth or not well after reading through all the files it turns out that Eggman was telling the truth. Then well you know the rest." said Sonic sighing appearing with a sad frown on his face.
Shadow got done listening to Sonic decided to talk next and responded "To be honest I was shocked finding out that you were my brother from the information I read. I had to make sure I was reading it right to see I got the information correct, but it turned out to be true."
"By the way how did you find out that you were my brother anyway?" said Sonic curiously. Shadow debated if he should tell Sonic how he got the information. He decided to tell him. "I got it by hacking into Eggman's terminal on his Egg Fleet ship," said Shadow.
"So that's where you were. While I was fighting for my life," said Sonic in a sarcastically dramatic. Shadow just rolled his eyes at Sonic's antics. Shadow then thought of something but was not sure if he should ask, he wanted to know so he spoke "Sonic I was wondering do you have any memories of the ARK?"
Sonic was surprised at that question, but it wasn't really surprising "Well to be honest I'm not sure. Before I thought I didn't because all I remembered was just waking up one day in a random forest in a pod. But now I think those strange dreams I had might have happened to me."
"Could you tell me what happened in these dreams of yours? They could maybe be a part of your memories," said Shadow determined. "I guess I could, but I don't remember much from them..." Sonic paused quickly to a random thought he had "Boy doesn't this seem kind of familiar Shadow where you had trouble remembering your past? I'm trying to remember certain stuff as well." Sonic laughing a bit.
Shadow just gives a deadpan stare at Sonic. Sonic looking at Shadow's reaction "Ok I get it not the same thing. Alright, where was I oh yes trying to remember something." As Sonic was trying to remember something he finally remembered one thing that stuck out to him.
"Ok I think I remember something?" said Sonic a little unsure. "What is it?" said Shadow determined to know. "I remember a bald man kind of like Eggman." said Sonic. Shadow interrupted Sonic "That would be Professor Gerald Robotnik." "Oh, so that is who that was. Anyway, I saw him, and I was in some sort of tank thing or something. He was talking about something I didn't get too much." said Sonic.
"Well, what do you remember mostly from that conversation?" said Shadow. Trying to think he said, "Well I think I remember his saying something about 'I hope that someday that you could meet...' and him mentioning something about a young girl and hedgehog or something?"
"That girl the professor was talking about was Maria," said Shadow with emotion in his voice. The Sonic realized something "That means the hedgehog he was talking about was you." "Do you remember anything else?" said Shadow wanting to know more.
"Sorry Shads not really," said Sonic. Shadow sighs saying "Alright." with disappointment in his voice. Sonic noticing the disappointment in his voice said, "I am sorry Shadow I just can't remember any more than that." "I said that it was fine!" said Shadow a little more furious. Sonic flung a little back at Shadow's sudden outburst then said, "Shadow what's your deal?"
"It's nothing," said Shadow looking away from Sonic. "Well, it's something given your outburst at me," said Sonic in a calm tone while being a little upset. Shadow getting mad turned around and looked at Sonic "You want to know why I'm upset?! Well, here is the reason I wanted to know I wanted to see if the Doctor said anything that might explain to me, Why the Doctor didn't tell me about you? Why did have to hide that from Maria and me!? Did he think that I couldn't be trusted with your secret creation?! Did he create you to replace me?! Why didn't he tell me I had a brother?!"
Shadow breaks down into tears looking at Sonic. Sonic looked at Shadow in shock not knowing what to do or say. He had never seen Shadow break down in front of anyone before he always kept his cool and the tough guy act. Finally getting the courage to say something he responded with "Look Shadow I know you are upset, and I wish I had the answers, but I don't. You see I'm just as lost as you are. I mean finding out that I was created instead of being born is life-changing.
Also, finding out I never had any parents to begin with. Ever since I woke up in that random forest, I wandered from place to place trying to know where I came from after a couple of years I stopped trying. I just started to run feeling the wind in my quills, the feeling of adventure traveling from place to place and that is when I met Tails saving him from some bullies and ever since then we have been close. Then Tails and I came across a village being attacked, and it turns out that was our first run-in with Eggman. Well, you get the rest of the story.
What I'm trying to say is even if we our both don't have the answers to are questions, we want to be answered. What we can do is try to be satisfied with the questions we have answered. We are not going to know everything and that is ok. What we can do is try to work it out together as brothers." said Sonic giving his speech to Shadow.
Shadow was shocked by what Sonic said. Since he found out about the flash drive, he wanted to know what the Professor was working on, and he found his answers but that left him wanting to know more. And he thought that Sonic might have known something, but it turns out he didn't know much. He got angry at Sonic when he didn't have the answers he was looking for. But it turns out that Sonic was just as in the dark as he was. He got angry at him for no reason when he shouldn't have, he just wanted answers so bad he took it out on Sonic. Sonic brought up a good point that he got some of his questions answered but he didn't get his other questions answered, but he guessed sometimes some things are best left unanswered.
Shadow slowly got up walked to Sonic and said "Thank you Sonic. Who would've thought you were good at speeches?" "It comes with having to save the world or battling Eggman all the time," said Sonic in a cocky tone. Shadow just rolled his eyes at that remark smiling and responding, "I guess that we will get through this together as brothers." "You got that right Shadow," said Sonic with a confident tone in his voice and with a smile on his face.
"Does that mean that you will stop calling me a faker all the time?" said Sonic. "Oh no I'll keep calling you that," said Shadow with a smile on his face. "Oh, come on!" said Sonic. "After all I did come first and that makes me superior to you," said Shadow with an amused smile on his face.
"Oh no, you're not going to be starting that! Just because you're the oldest doesn't make you the superior one!" said Sonic with an irritated look and frown on his face. Then Shadow did something he hadn't done for a long time he let out a laugh at a Sonic pouting. Sonic stopped pouting and a look of shock appeared on his face being surprised at Shadow again at him laughing. When a smirk appeared on Sonic's face "Well look at you looks like someone can laugh after all."
Shadow stopped laughing and looked at Sonic his face turning red from embarrassment responding with "Mind your own business." Then it was Sonic's turn to laugh. It went on for a little while then he stopped laughing. "Alright, I'm done." "Happy now," said Shadow not amused. "Yep," said Sonic.
Sonic and Shadow then sat in silence for a little while and then Sonic thought of something but hesitated to ask Shadow notice and said, "What is it?" "Well, I was wondering something, but I wasn't sure if I should ask you this or not because it's a sensitive topic for you," said Sonic uncertain. "It's about Maria isn't," said Shadow. "How did you..." said Sonic then answering Sonic's question before Sonic finished his sentence. "Because you talked about it being a sensitive topic for me."
"Well, I know Maria is a touchy subject to bring up to you and I just didn't want to bring up any painful memories," said Sonic. Then Shadow said "I get it you wanted to know and it's alright. If you want to know, just ask." Shadow then responded with "So, what was your question you wanted to ask about Maria?" Sonic being a little surprised at first then asked his question "Can you tell me what Maria was like?"
Shadow paused at Sonic's question for a bit and responded with "Maria was a kind soul. She cared about everyone and everything. She loved to play. She awhile somehow always knew when you were upset and knew just how to cheer you up. You would have liked her Sonic."
"She sounded like a good person Shadow," said Sonic. "Yes, she was," said Shadow with a smile. After talking for a little bit longer Sonic responded with "Oh looks like the sun is setting. Man, time sure flies when you are talking with someone." "Sure does," Shadow replied. "I feel a lot better getting that all off my chest. How about you brother?" said Sonic in amusement. Shadow just rolled his eyes responding with "Yes it sure does brother."
Sonic said, "Well I better get back to Tails he is probably wondering where I could be." "I better report back to GUN about my mission," said Shadow. "So, when you get back to GUN Shadow are you going to tell Rouge and Omega, we're brothers?" said Sonic. Shadow thought about it for a little bit and responded, "I think I will wait a little bit before I tell them."
"How about you Sonic? Are you going to tell your friends that you're my younger brother?" said Shadow. Sonic thought about it as well and said, "I think I'll wait a bit to before I'm ready to tell everyone." "Well, I better get going and Shadow?" said Sonic about to head back home to Tails but wanted to say one last this to Shadow before he left. "Yes Sonic?" said Shadow. "Thanks. Also, if you ever need someone to talk to, I be there if you need to talk," said Sonic. "Thanks. The same to you," said Shadow.
Then Sonic took off and Shadow stood there until he could no longer see Sonic. Shadow then took off as well to report back to GUN.
Both Sonic and Shadow arrived at their destination Sonic at Tails and Shadow at GUN Headquarters.
Sonic first told Tails that he was sorry that he had been so long but told him that he defeated Eggman with the help of Shadow close to the end of the battle. Tails was a little surprised at this but shrugged it off. Tails then asked Sonic if he wanted to get something to eat, he agreed and told Sonic that Amy and Knuckles were coming, and Sonic couldn't help but smile that he was going to see all his friends together again after a long time. He happily follows after Tails.
Shadow first reported to the GUN Commander about his mission and reported that the information that Eggman held about Project X was no more than fake information Eggman planted to fake information fool GUN. The GUN Commander nodded at Shadow's report accepting the information and dismissing Shadow. Shadow leaves the room Rouge and Omega go up to him asking how the mission went.
Telling them that it went fine and that it was just fake information Eggman planted to trick GUN. Rouge looked at him not believing him but knew Shadow would tell them eventually. So, she decided to invite Shadow to lunch, and he surprisingly agreed. Since Omega couldn't eat, he would just be charging at that time while he was by them while they were eaten.
Both Sonic and Shadow stared at the sky know wherever either one was they both knew that they would have each other's backs as brothers.

Thank you for making it to the end I hope you enjoyed it. I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to Sonic lore. The only lore I know about Sonic is from the Sonic X anime, the Sonic Prime cartoon, and the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. Even so, I hope you still enjoyed it. Leafeon12 signing out.
