Chapter 22
The Return of the Portashrinker
Time was ticking by and Valerie could sense a whole different atmosphere acurring around her. Normally, Aflea would be buzzing with happy chatter & laughter but right now that wasn't the case. It was amazing to experience the worlds mood around her suddenly change just like that! Like a chick of two fingers something she knew far too well.
As she walked the corridors to the courtyard, everyone seemed to look shaken and nervous particularly the younger fairies who might be experiencing their first encourter with the Trix. For Valerie, she really wasn't into battling and was rather hoping to make peace with the evil witches but could see there was a 99% chance of that not happening.
"Why does everything have to end up in a battle against those evil witches?" Valeries asks Daphne who was walking beside her, "They do not understand the world of "nice" or "peace". They have always desired power and have a great joy of battling to get what they want and to show off how strong they think they are!" Daphne answered strongly.
They both stopped to pause and looked up towards the sky. The clouds were thick and black hiding the days sun. "This would have been a great opportunity for a field trip to study how clouds are formed!" Valerie said whispering under her breath "What's that?" Daphne asked, "Oh...i was just thinking about my next topic for when classes start again!" Valerie happily answered with a giggle. Daphne looked at her with one eye brow raised "You never stop thinking about learning do you?" she asked her friend, "Nope never!" Valerie answered with a smile.
"Daphne?" Valerie says "Yes Valerie?" Daphne responds quickly, "Have you ever battled the Trix?". Daphne breathed out and explained that she only has battled them once but her sister Bloom has battled them many times "They just do not give up Valerie! Pest's they are! Just promise me what ever you do, you be careful!" she firmly tells Valerie. Valerie reassured her that she will be fine and that nothing scared her while patting her toobox that she was carrying.
They parted ways as Daphne had just received a message that her sister Bloom was trying to reach her. Valerie thought it would be a great opportunity to go and retrieve Bike. She had an idea up her sleeve. As she walked to the shelter in a mechanics jumpsuit, she smiled towards the toolbox she was carrying. Inside was something that will assist her during the encounter with the Trix "A real blast from the past!" she thought to herself.
As she opened the door to the shelter, Valerie smiled as she spotted Bike "Good Afternoon Bike!" she said on approach. Bike seemed to appreciate being greeted by her as it did a short beep to her. She placed her toolbox on the ground and began to open it,"Ok Bike, are you in for what's going to unfold today?" she quietly whispered to the motorbike "I'm going to let you in on an idea that will help teach those witches a lesson!". Valerie then pulls out of her toolbox her old Portashrinker!
Suddenly, Keesha, DA, Wanda and Phoebe came flying (minus wings they were in their normal human forms) through the doors. "Professor Frizzle?", "Professor Frizzle where are you?", "Hmmmm Professor Daphne said she would be in here!" the voices shouted, Valerie turned around to see the four girls in here presents. Valerie was pleased that they had come looking for her as she couldn't wait to tell them her plan.
"So glad we found you here Professor Frizzle!" Phoebe tells Valerie, "Oh...well...i hadn't gone far! Just spending some time with Bike!" Valerie happily answered while placing the Portshrinker behind her back, it didn't take long for Wanda to cry out "What's that your hiding?". "You don't miss a beat do you Wanda?" Valerie said with a smile, "Do i see what i think i see?" DA asked, "It's the Portashrinker!" Keesha yelled. Valerie's earring lit up as she pulled the Portshrinker out from behind her back.
"Right you are DA and Keesha!" Valerie said while congratulating them on their correct answer. "That brings back memories!" Phoebe sweetly said with a big smile on her face "but what are you going to do with it Professor Frizzle?", "Thought you never ask Phoebe!" Valerie said to the brown haired girl. All five of them gathered around as Valerie explained to them what she was going to do with it.
"So you mean you want us to shrink you down and you will be asborbed inside Bike who will be disguised in its pendant mode?" Keesha asked worriedly, "Yes that's it Keesha!" Valerie giggled, "If they ask for me to hand Bike over, i'll simply give what they want. Then when they least expect it! Boom i'll appear before them and hopefully teach them a lesson for calling be a puny human!".
The four girls looked at each other "Are you sure that's going to work Professor Frizzle, plus with Bike not nearby we will no longer have powers right?" DA asked nervously, Valerie went up towards DA and placed a hand on one of her shoulders "Trust me DA and ah yes but i guarantee you'll get them back!" she answered to her. The girls knew that their new powers were temporary and would only have them when Bike was nearby. It's going to be odd returning to Earth and live as normal humans again.
Then there was a noise coming from outside that sounded like a clap of thunder. Everyone jumped except for Valerie, "Do you think that was just thunder or are they here?" Phoebe asked nervously "Don't know Phoebe! Let's find out!" Valerie then placed the Portshrinker on the ground and grabbed the zip of her plain olive green jumpsuit and pulled it down to reveal a dress covered in eyes. "Guess all eyes are on you Professor Frizzle!" DA said endearment, "DA!" Keesha, Wanda and Phoebe shouted while Valerie just laughed as it reminded her of Carlos Ramon another ex-student of hers who use to make all kinds of puns.
Valerie them turned to face Bike who was still happily glaring towards her. She then command it to become a pendant again "Bike do your stuff!" she shouted and in seconds Bike shank and changed its form to be around Valerie's neck. As they were leaving the shelter, Valerie then handed the Portshrinker to Wanda who was more then willing to help out on her plan to trick the witches. Keesha, Phoebe, Wanda and DA were still worried what if Valerie's plan was going to backfire, will their old teacher survive and return safely?
The weather had become stormy and the wind began to pick up, the five of them got to the courtyard to find the three witches present floating in the sky. Stormy was seen waving her arms up towards the sky "I think she is the one causing the storm!" Keesha pointed out, "According to my research, Stormy's the witch of storms!" DA answered her. Valerie could sense that this weather pattern was not normal.
