A/N: This is a missing scene/fill in the gap sort of thing for 4x05. It takes place the night after Andy asks Sharon to dinner on a date at Serve. This is what I think happens that night.
Chapter 14: Change of Pace
Sharon was so nervous that she'd changed her outfit three times before finally settling on a sleeveless emerald green lace dress that came to just above the knee.
She knew Andy loved her legs and what better way to show them off than in this gorgeous dress.
Plus, it's not one that Andy had seen her in before.
So, it was a win-win.
Sharon then sat down at her bathroom vanity to apply her makeup and do her hair.
As she was applying her makeup, her phone rang. When she saw it was Andy, she immediately picked it up.
"Hey," said Sharon nonchalantly.
"Hey. I promise I'm on my way. I might be a little late, but we'll still be able to make our reservation," Andy told her.
"Alright. I just put my dress on and am doing my hair and makeup now. So, I should be ready in about twenty minutes. Is that okay?" asked Sharon.
"That should work out perfectly because I'm about twenty minutes away right now," said Andy.
"Okay. See you then. Drive safe," Sharon told him.
"I will. See you in twenty," replied Andy before he hung up to concentrate on his driving.
As Sharon put the finishing touches on her makeup, she decided to loosely curl the ends of her hair to give it a wavy effect.
Sure enough, about twenty minutes later, there was a knock at Sharon's condo door.
"Rusty, can you get that. It's probably Andy," Sharon yelled from her closet as she chose a pair of black heels and quickly selected a black leather clutch to complete her outfit.
As she made her way down the hall a couple minutes later after checking her appearance in the mirror one last time, she said, "I'm coming. I'm coming."
"No rush. The kid can keep me company," said Andy before Sharon came into view.
As she came into view, Andy did a double take.
Sharon always looked amazing, but she'd truly outdone herself this time.
"I'm gonna go finish studying, now," said Rusty as he began walking down the hallway.
"If I don't get to see you before you go to sleep, goodnight," Sharon told Rusty as he stopped midway down the hallway.
"Goodnight, Mom," said Rusty as he made his way down the hall.
As Sharon turned her attention back towards Andy, she asked, "Ready?"
"I am if you are. You look magnificent by the way," Andy complimented her as they exited the condo and she quickly locked the door behind them.
"I hope so. I changed three times," commented Sharon as they headed for the elevator and down to the parking garage.
"I would've loved to be a part of that fashion show," Andy flirted with her.
"I'm sure you would have," said Sharon as she took Andy's hand in both of hers as they walked into the parking garage.
"Well, at least we color coordinated," Andy pointed from his emerald green tie he wore with a white dress shirt and black suit to Sharon's emerald green dress.
"Oh my goodness! How did that happen?" asked Sharon as she rubbed her hand along Andy's forearm.
"Great minds think alike, I guess," suggested Andy as he opened the passenger door for Sharon.
"I guess. You look very sharp in your suit tonight, Mr. Flynn, if I do say so myself, said Sharon as she climbed into Andy's Charger.
"Thanks," replied Andy as he smiled at Sharon as he closed the door and made his way over to the driver's seat.
After the car got going, Andy grabbed Sharon's hand and she intertwined their fingers together as their hands settled on the console.
"I'm excited for tonight," Sharon told him.
"Truth be told, I'm a little intimidated by it," admitted Andy.
"Why?" Sharon asked as she squeezed his hand and he drove towards the restaurant.
"I don't know. There's just something about first dates and having to impress each other in some way that has me feeling a bit intimidated. I mean, I'm just a normal guy. There's nothing special about me to differentiate me from the other guys out there. Hell, you could have anyone you want," explained Andy.
"Well, first of all, there's no need to impress me. I'm already impressed by you. Why do you think I said yes to this date?" asked Sharon.
"Honestly, I don't know," said Andy.
"Second of all, there are plenty of special things about you. You're strong willed in your sobriety, you're great with kids, and you respect women, namely me," replied Sharon.
"I haven't always been that way," Andy told her.
"All I care about is the Andy sitting in front of me right now and going forward, okay?" asked Sharon.
"Okay," agreed Andy as he pulled into a parking space at the restaurant.
"Let's just have a good time tonight, okay? No pressure," said Sharon.
"No pressure," Andy repeated, mostly to himself, as he let go of Sharon's hand and got out of the car at the same time she did.
"I could've gotten that door for you," Andy told her as he grabbed her hand again.
"I can open my own door, Andy. Sometimes is okay. Always is a little overkill, you know?" explained Sharon.
"I can see that," replied Andy as they walked into the restaurant with their fingers intertwined.
"Good," replied Sharon as she smiled at Andy's understanding of her boundaries.
Throughout dinner, Sharon and Andy talked and laughed and enjoyed great food for hours.
Sharon even indulged in a glass of red wine.
After Andy paid the check, Sharon told him, "You can pay this time, but next time is my treat. I'm a modern woman."
"I guess I can live with that," replied Andy as they got up and headed out of the restaurant.
After they got in the car and Andy got it started and backed out of the parking space, Sharon immediately grabbed his hand over the console and intertwined their fingers for the drive back to Los Feliz.
Once they arrived in the parking garage of Sharon's condo building, Andy pulled into a guest parking space and they each got out and met up at the back of the car.
"Tonight was amazing, Andy. Truly," said Sharon.
"I'm glad you had a good time. The company wasn't bad either, was it?" asked Andy.
"That was the best part. Being there with you," Sharon told Andy as she grabbed his hands in hers.
"I enjoyed being there with you, too," replied Andy as he squeezed Sharon's hands.
"I should go, but I don't want to yet," admitted Sharon.
"Me either," said Andy as he swung their arms back and forth slightly, probably a nervous habit.
"Well, we could stand out here and talk for a while," suggested Sharon.
"We could. Or we could do this first," replied Andy as he leaned in and kissed Sharon's lips.
Sharon unexpectedly deepened the kiss as her hands pulled Andy's to settle on her hips.
"Mmm," hummed Sharon after they broke the kiss.
Andy laughed at Sharon's little hum before he said, "That's really cute."
"What?" asked Sharon.
"Your little hum after we broke the kiss. I've never noticed that before," commented Andy.
"Well, I guess it was a good kiss then," Sharon told Andy as she smiled at him before grabbing his hands again.
"Wanna do it again?" asked Andy hopefully.
"Mmhmm" hummed Sharon before realizing it and letting out a laugh of her own.
Andy laughed a little too at her cute habit before he let go of Sharon's hand to prop her chin up until they were eye level with one another.
Sharon looked from Andy's eyes to his mouth and then went in for the kiss this time.
Andy quickly deepened the kiss and slightly pushed Sharon against the back of his car as his hands settled on her hips once again.
This kiss was longer than the others and when they broke for air, Sharon said, "Whoa. We'll have to do that again sometime."
"I'd like that," replied Andy with a goofy grin on his face.
"How does next Saturday sound?" Sharon asked him.
"Sure. What are we doing?" asked Andy.
"I don't quite know yet. Let's let it be a surprise. At least for you," said Sharon.
"Okay, but how will I know what to wear?" asked Andy.
"I'll let you know once I figure things out. I definitely wanna do something casual though. So, plan on that," Sharon told him.
"Okay. Casual it is. Well, I guess this is goodnight, then?" asked Andy.
"Unfortunately, yes," replied Sharon.
Sharon responded by kissing Andy's cheek and he reacted by kissing her cheek as well.
After they broke apart, Andy said, "Well, goodnight, Sharon."
"Goodnight, Andy. Drive safe," Sharon told Andy as he climbed into the driver's seat of his Charger.
"I will. Have a good rest of your evening," Andy told her.
"I will," replied Sharon with a huge smile on her face as Andy pulled out of the parking space and headed towards his house.
Meanwhile, as Sharon headed towards the elevator, her huge smile didn't dissipate.
It really had been a fantastic evening and dating Andy wasn't as challenging as she thought it might be.
In fact, it was downright fun, which was certainly a nice change of pace.
