"Kakarot, they lied to you." Said the artificial voice surrounding Goku., "They lied to you and used you."
"They... did… not..." slurred Goku, barely able to form the words, "They're... my… friends…"
"They cut off your tail. They used you. You are a Saiyan Warrior and they kept you as a pet." Continued the voice, talking over Goku, seemingly uncaring, "A Saiyan warrior is the greatest in the universe, you should have exterminated them. You can do better. You need to punish them. Punish the entire race."
"Nooo." Groaned Goku, "They… cared.. for me."
"You are a descent of the great ape, the Oozaru. Your tail is your greatest strength and also your weakness. You need to look into the full moon then devour all earthlings." As the voice talked, images supporting its statement of the superiority of the Saiyan race flashed on the screen in front of Goku.
"No…" Suddenly a horrible thought occurred to Goku, triggered by a picture on the screen, "Wait... that's how… Gohan… died… I was… the... monster… I murdered… my... grandpa…"
"A Saiyan shows no mercy, Kakarot. Empathy is a weakness. The strong survive, the weak deserve death." The screen in front of Goku continued to show images to the great Oozaru form causing rampant destruction, tearing alien lifeforms limb from limb and smashing buildings, "You need to kill all earthlings, they lied to you and used you."
Goku's mind raced: the destruction of Pilaf's castle, the tournament, and how his friends had been asking about Gohan's tail and sleep schedule. He was the monster his grandfather had warned him about and they knew. Raditz and the machine were right, they knew and had lied to him. Just like Roshi had lied to him about being an alien. But they were his friends! They did it to protect him, they didn't want to feel bad about his grandfather, that was it!
"They crippled you. The made you believe that you needed them and then used you for their own gain, Karkarot. They though you their tamed pet but you are not, you are a Saiyan Warrior."
And the hit to his head that triggered all this, was it actually an accident? Of course it was, his grandfather loved him, he would never have intentionally hurt him, right? Right!?
"You are a Saiyan, you show no mercy. The weak do not deserve to live." The voice droned on, "Kill all earthlings, Kakarot. Fulfill your Saiyan duties."
"Never…" Goku chocked out, "I am… Son Goku… from earth!"

While Krillin and Master Roshi had no luck locating Goku or his evil brother, they did manage to get ahold of Yamcha and Puar. Yamcha had joined the West City Taitans at the begging of their coach as he was the only one who stood a chance against their rivals in the upcoming game. At the time, he had figured it was a good way to apply some of his amazing athletic abilities in a scenario where he was not completely outclassed. And as a bonus, it was a good and, more importantly, legal way to make some money after losing access to Bulma's fortune after their most recent break-up, but he found himself bored by the whole ordeal. Baseball may have been a huge pastime for civilians, but Yamcha found it incredibly dull compared to the adrenaline rush of martial arts. Puar had gone to the baseball field in order to support their friend, but even they found it rather grating. As such, when Krillin and Roshi showed up, the two former bandits were more than happy to leave practice early.
"So what's this emergency you needed to talk about?" Yamcha asked, stretching out his back after getting out of his practice gear, "I'm a busy man, you know!"
"Goku's an alien and his evil brother showed up and kidnapped his son (oh yeah Goku has a son now) so Goku went off to fight him and it's been too long so we aren't sure what's happening there but probably not good. Also his brother is planning on destroying the earth. Oh and Piccolo's been killed so there are no more dragon balls but apparently Piccolo and Kami were also aliens and their home planet might have dragon balls so Bulma is trying to figure out how to fly there and get those to restore them." Explained Krillin, not pausing to breathe at any point in his somewhat frantic explanation.
"…what?" Puar bobbed up and down midair, unsure on how to process the information overload.
"…that is an emergency." Yamcha agreed, "What do you need us to do?"
"We haven't been able to find either Goku nor his brother." Roshi answered, "If we could kill his brother, then at least the more pressing issue would be dealt with and we can save earth from devastation for a while. But he's quite strong so we'll need all the help we can get."
"Oh yeah," Krillin added, "Apparently there are some more super strong beings who are like Goku but evil who will come even and wipe out earth even if we kill that Raditz guy."
"One problem at time." Roshi shook his head, "We need to be smart about this and handle the first issue then can work on the other ones."
"We'll as many strong people as we can get to take on this guy. We've got to get a hold of Tein Shinhan and Chiaotzu!" Yamaha declared.
"I think they decided to open a new dojo based off of the old Crane school techniques." Offered Puar thoughtfully, "Chiaotzu said something about it being located at the base of Pleasant Mountain and the Ox King giving them a good deal in exchange for protecting his people."
"Oh, that's great!" Krillin was thrilled that someone else had a plan, as much as he trusted his old Master, sometimes the man could be impulsive and without dragon balls, he didn't want to risk his life if it could be avoided. "But wait, if the ox king's there what about the ox princess…"
The three men and shapeshifting cat all paused for a second in contemplation about Goku's wife and mother of his child. On one hand, Chi-Chi had full rights to know what was happening to her family. On the other, she was not known for her reasonability and probably would be the type to shoot the messenger.
"You know, I don't think it'd be a good idea to stress her out." Suggested Yamcha awkwardly.
"Yeah, we don't know all the information yet." Agreed Krillin, "Why upset her if things will turn out fine?"
"Makes sense to me." Agreed Roshi, "But we still don't know where Goku and his brother are."
"Tien is amazing at sensing energy, I bet he'll be able to find them." Puar pointed out, floating happily above the group.
"Well, only one way to find out!" Krillin decided, "Let's get to Pleasant Mountain!"

"Kakarot, you are a proud Saiyan Warrior. Your mission is to destroy all earthlings. The Weak do not deserve life."
"…is it all true?" murmured Goku, staring blankly ahead at the flashing images in front of him. "…was my life all just a lie?"
"You are from the planet Vegeta, son of the warrior Bardock. You were tasked to purge and were manipulated. Kakarot, you must kill all earthlings."
"…they… lied… to me… My entire life. First… my grandpa… Then… my 'friends'… They wanted… to control me… To use me… for themselves."
Goku continued to stare ahead at what he was being shown, half listening to the voice droning on in the background. But killing was wrong, right? His grandpa had taught him that. But his grandpa had lied about so much… had he just taught him that to better control him? Everyone was always telling him what to do and he had never questioned it. Maybe that was the problem. He was stronger than them, and they had wanted to control him. He had never killed before but he loved fighting maybe he had been denying his true self this entire time by forcing himself to hold back.
"You are member of the greatest race of warriors in the Galaxy, Kakarot. You will live up to your Saiyan lineage and exterminate all earthlings. Weaklings do not deserve life, only the strong have that right. You are a powerful Saiyan warrior, fulfill your duties and take your place among your people."
But it still seemed wrong in his heart of hearts. His grandfather had loved him, he had raised him and taught him martial arts. Was it really just a lie so he could manipulate him better? He remembered seeing his grandpa when he fought him for Fortuneteller Baba, he had been so proud of him and gave him the best hug! Of course, Grandpa Gohan had torn off his tail during the fight. Thinking about it, Gohan wasn't above crippling him if he thought it would make him safer. Which brings up his head injury…
"Kill all earthlings, Kakarot. You are a Saiyan Warrior, a descent of the great ape, the Oozaru. You carry the blood of your forefather in your veins. Weakness has no place in this universe."
But Bulma hadn't known any of that when she found him! Of course, she had wanted to steal his dragon ball… then had brought him along to help 'acquire' the rest of the balls as an unpaid bodyguard. She had definitely lied by omission about him getting to keep the four star ball after making the wish, even after he had told her about how much it meant to him! Thinking hard about that night in Pilaf's castle he could distinctly remember a suspicious line of questioning right before he looked at the moon lead by none other than Bulma herself. Then he had woken up missing a tail. Had she truly been manipulating him all this time? She was definitely smarter than him and had no issues using the trust he had in her to direct him at her enemies.
"You are from the planet Vegeta, son of the warrior Bardock. You were tasked to purge and were manipulated. Kakarot, you are a Saiyan, destruction is what you crave more than anything. Destroy all lifeforms on earth. Complete your mission and rejoin your people."
But Krillin was his best friend! Wait, Krillin had actively used him to get training from Roshi. And Roshi had known the entire time about him being an alien and had never mentioned it. And both of them had defiantly been at the World Martial Art tournament where he had transformed into a giant ape but had never told him…
"A Saiyan Warrior acts with pride at all time as they know their place in the hierarchy of the universe. Anyone who dares harm a Saiyan's pride is deserving of a gruesome death, they need to be punished. Kill the entire race, prove yourself a Saiyan, and rejoin your people Kakarot."
"No…" Goku mumbled, "It's all lies…"

Outside the pod, Raditz was munching thoughtfully on an unfortunate t-rex that had wandered a bit too close. Upon seeing each other, both Raditz and the dinosaur had come upon the same thought: 'what a convenient and tasty meal', only the Sayina had been right. And even then, he was only half right, the dinosaur was remarkably rubbery with a metallic aftertaste. However, due to the animal's stupidity in not recognizing a new apex predator, Raditz was able to enjoy a meal without having to leave his brother unguarded during his 're-education.'
Raditz wished he could check on the status of his brother as it had been almost 18 hours at this point. Unfortunately, that would involve shutting down the program and taking his brother completely out of his fugue state. As long as the drugs kept working, Kakarot would remain in a state of higher susceptibility then he normally would while being unable to sleep. This, combined with repeated exposure to trigger phrases said to him as an infant traveling to earth, the inability to move, and other comments undermining his current standing beliefs would hopefully reawaken his Saiyan tendencies that Ratiz would be able to shape from there on out.
Still, it was a rough process and Kakarot was probably going absolutely stir crazy. Saiyans, by nature, did not handle downtime very well, much less forced confinement. Saiyans loved being active even when they weren't fighting. It was part of the reason the Saiyans had initially lived and worked well with the Tuffles. The Saiyans would do all the fighting and labor stuff while the Tuffles did all the science and bureaucracy crap; the two groups worked together and managed to live in harmony by both doing the jobs the other group hated. It was a pity the Tuffles got all uppity, especially given that the ensuing war attracted the attention of the Planet Trade Organization.
Raditz had been a child when the Saiyans entered the treaty with King Cold but he could remember many a time when his father came home cursing the entire frieza lineage after Cold had retired and passed command of the Saiyans to his younger son. His father had been absolutely convinced that Freeza would kill them the second he decided they were too much of a threat. After all, the reason the Saiyans had attracted attention in the first place was due to their hatred of an oppressor, it was hardly a stretch to assume that they'd repeat history. Of course, Bardock was not taken seriously and why would he be: a disgraced field commander who lost his sanity after his entire squad died in a mission was hardly anybody's choice of advisor.
Then an asteroid wiped out planet Vegeta right after Lord Freeza happened to recall all Saiyan forces to their home world. You know, one of those famously easy to detect asteroids had somehow slipped past all radars and hit a place that just happened to have a full army on it. The Saiyan survivors in the Frieza Force were all intelligent enough to pretend to have bought that excuse while grieving and plotting revenge. With another Sayina warrior on their side, perhaps they were one step closer to avenging their people.
Raditz hated that his child-self believed the other adults in his life and agreed that his father was a crazy fool. The fact that almost the entire Sayina race had been wiped out and yet somehow both he and his brother survived it, made him sorely regret his uncharitable attitude towards Bardock. He didn't know how his father had done it, but he would honor his parents' legacy by bringing Kakarot back into the fold one way or another.
