As Midoriya arrived the next day for class, he noticed a large crowd of reporters lingering outside the walls of U.A.
"Young boy, are you a student here?" One of the reporters, a woman inquired, shoving a microphone into his face as he saw the swarm of curious eyes turn on him.
"Oh umm, me, I'm... yes?" Izuku stuttered, not used to being the center of attention as the female reporter pushed in closer.
"You are, aren't you, I can tell because you have on the U.A. school uniform!" The reporter 'revealed'; Izuku noticed the cameraman filming her rolling his eyes.
"In that case, can you tell me what it's like having All Might for a teacher?" Her tone turned sharp as she pressed the microphone close enough to the verdette's mouth that he was sure they could hear the slightest shift in his breathing as the rest of the reporters thronged closer as well, interrogating the poor youth about his idol and hero.
"All Might, he's well, really cool, and All Mighty, and his smile is so bright, oh and he's really funny, and super powerful of course, and even-" Midoriya started rambling, heedless of the sudden disinterest from the reporters as his word vomit ran over, only to be cut short by an ashen blonde shoving his way past.
"Out of my way Deku!" Bakugo ordered as he stomped by, shoving Izuku to the side rather than walk around him and the crowd of questioning reporters.
"Oh, maybe you can tell us... hey, I recognize you, you're that middle schooler that got caught by that Sludge villain a year ago." The same female reporter tried to stick her microphone into Bakugo's face, only for the explosive blonde to whirl on her, a series of soft pops emitting from his hand as he roared at her and the following crowd.
Seeing they weren't going to get their soundbites from either of the two boys present, the reporter turned to the third person present, a sleepy looking man with mussy black hair who looked supremely annoyed by all the commotion. But if annoyance was all it took to stop a reporter, this one would've been out of a job in a week.
"Sir, can you tell us about... wait, are you a teacher here?" She needled as Mr. Aizawa sighed, turning his back on the newspeople, ushering Izuku and Bakugo through the gates. Undeterred, the reporter attempted to follow the trio.
"Hey wait!" A fellow reporter shouted, just short of catching her as she crossed the boundary line, a red flashing light going off as metallic walls shot up, preventing her from crossing the threshold.
"What the-" She shrieked, tripping over her feet as she stumbled backwards away from the sudden blockage.
"The U.A. Barrier, it keeps anyone without a pass from getting on to the grounds." A male voice said, catching the woman as she fell.
"Huh, who are? Wait, you're Tomura, the up-and-coming video game developer! Are you here to discuss an arrangement with U.A. about your flagship game..." She paused, a reddish blush spreading across her cheeks as she noticed he had yet to let her go.
"Now that would be giving away for free what I can charge for a price. If you're really that curious, schedule a meeting with my office, and we'll try to arrange something, in the meantime, might I suggest you give the same courtesy to U.A., ... just as I have." Tomura suggested, pulling a card from his jacket pocket that he swiped across an exposed screen that flashed green.
The walls still didn't fall however, probably due to cameras in the vicinity revealing the crowding news folk now attempting to throng Tomura as he grit his teeth, his face twitching as he awaited an escort to his meeting.
"Okay class, I'll quickly cover the results of your Combat Training with All Might yesterday, and then we'll cover something important." Mr. Aizawa said, pulling out a stack of papers from under his podium.
"You all did well from what All Might put down, minus a few hiccups here and there. Midoriya... you managed to not break your arms... good work, keep it up. Shinso, All Might says you started to panic when Uraraka took your partner hostage, expect the unexpected. Similarly, Uraraka, good work improvising when your team's initial plan failed. Finally, Jiro, Shoji, Sero, and Sato, All Might said your match had a few technical hiccups, so expect some further clarification in the future. Now then, I've handed out your individual results, study them, learn them, fix them, and improve on them, this wasn't a test, it was an assessment." Mr. Aizawa said, already wrapping himself in his sleeping bag.
"Now then, I'll need you to come together to elect a class representative and vice class representative." The teacher said before vanishing into his sleeping bag, somehow sleeping despite the sudden eruption of noise from the class.
'This is just like in my dream... not that means anything, electing a class rep is a perfectly normal school thing. But if I remember correctly, Uraraka and Iida voted for me for some reason, and then I recommended Iida be our class rep.' Deku thought, scribbling in his notebook, a brand new one he'd gotten as a dream journal (not a diary).
True to form, Iida rocketed into a stand, hand raised to the ceiling, "I believe it should be done democratically, it's the only fair way to do it!" He announced, several students snickering at how his hand was still raised.
"Can that really work? We've only just gotten to know each other; how can we make a good choice like that?" Tsu queried.
"Well, I guess anyone who earns more than one vote proved themselves already. Men should rely on their guts in such a situation!" Kirishima argued as Tsu stared blankly at him.
"I'm not a man, I'm a frog, ribbit." Tsu stated simply as Hagakure hugged the frog girl.
"Why are you so cute Tsu?" The invisible girl asked, squeezing Tsu tightly.
After slips of paper were handed out, the class elected Iida to count the votes since it was his idea in the first place. It probably said something that the class already picked out his earnest nature as he pulled out the slips of paper, tallying the results on the board.
"Okay," Iida announced, a firm chop gathering attention instantly, "With four votes, Yaoyorozu is our class rep, and with a close three votes we have Shinso as vice class rep!" Iida announced as a small series of cheers and 'aww man's went through the class as voters celebrated or lamented as the duo took their place in front of the class.
"Thank for this honor, I'll do my best not to let you down." Momo assured the class brightly.
In contrast was Shinso, who rubbed the back of his head, "Try not to give us much work, okay guys?"
"Excellent, now then, I'll need Yaoyorozu and Shinso will meet with the Class 1-B council over lunch to establish contact points as well as work together to decide on a Council Secretary, who will be responsible for recording everything discussed in meeting during lunch and afterschool sometimes." Mr. Aizawa's voice echoed out of his sleeping bag as the bell rang from lunch, the other 18 students rushing out of the room as Shinso and Momo slowly followed, discussing their choices for the open position.
Izuku was lost in thought as he took his lunch, sitting at the now familiar round table.
'I need to figure out this dream thing. Does it mean something, or is my mind just going crazy jumping to conclusions?' Izuku thought aloud as the other 2/3 of his trio arrived, falling into the chairs next to him.
"Hmm, were you saying something Midoriya?" Iida inquired as Izuku started, noticing his friends.
"Oh, nothing, I was just lost in thought. I feel like I've been forgetting something lately, but I can't remember." He explained, as Uraraka stroked an invisible beard.
"I'm sure you'll figure it out Deku! You take lots of notes, so I'm sure you'll work it out eventually." Ochako cheerily stated, shoving three mochi into her mouth.
"Ahh, Uraraka, eat slowly to avoid choking, and also, did you only get mochi? That's horribly unhealthy for an aspiring hero!" Iida shouted, his hand chopping rapidly as the pink-cheeked girl laughed.
"Thanks for looking out for me, Iida, you would've made a great Class Rep, you even have the glasses and everything. I had to vote for Momo though, she did so much work during our battle, I felt like I had to repay her somehow, and besides... girls gotta stick together!" Uraraka cheered, fist pumping the air as a few passing girls also pumped their own fists in solidarity.
"That's okay, although I question what glasses have to do with being a good Class Rep, I glad you thought of me. I myself voted for Midoriya for similar reasons." Iida explained heartily as Izuku popped up, paying attention as the bespeckled boy turned to him.
"You reminded me of my older brother with how you took charge and came up with a plan. Had you gotten the position; I would've happily followed your lead." Iida said as Izuku blushed, feeling guilty once more about tricking his friends.
"Oh, thanks Iida, but I-... well... you mentioned an older brother that I reminded you of, is he a hero also?" The verdette changed the subject as Iida beamed, Uraraka leaning in as she filled her mouth with several more mochi, resembling a chipmunk with her puffed out cheeks.
"Yes, I am the proud younger brother of a most excellent hero, The Turbo Hero: Ingenium!" Iida stated proudly, his glasses catching the light as he stood up, posing.
Unfortunately, good things never last as an alarm sounded, familiar to Izuku as he shot up, not even hesitating as he made a beeline for the exit, ignoring as Iida called after him. He had to know for sure, once and for all whether it was all in his head, or an omen of things to come.
As he rounded a corner, somehow ahead of the coming tidal wave of students, he spotted them, the newspeople from earlier thronging into the schoolgrounds. That sealed the deal for the young hero-in-training, no way his brain could've predicted the media would swarm the school, on the same day as the Class Rep voting.
Midoriya had his phone partway out as another memory filled his mind, a dangerous one, but possibly necessary. He remembered in his dream the black, misty villain bragging how they'd stolen the class schedule during the chaos, they could be on the schoolgrounds right now, and if they were, he had to stop them!
He replaced his phone in his pocket as he sprinted down the halls, eyes filled with determination as he searched for him: Tomura Shigaraki!
Tomura was eventually led to a room where a small... creature was sitting behind a desk, a cup of steaming liquid as large as the creature's head was sitting on the desk.
"Principal Nezu, thank you for agreeing to meet with me." Tomura said, bowing slightly as he took a seat across from the principal.
"Oh, it's no problem Mr... Tomura, any excuse to avoid fiddling with paperwork." Principal Nezu stated, a hollow laugh following shortly as Tomura sheepishly sighed.
"Well, the reason I wanted to meet with you will probably only add to that pile of perilous paperwork. I wanted to ask for your support in my request to contact some of your new batch of students, the first years about a possible representation with my company... more specifically my game- " Tomura request was cut short as the small mouselike animal looked over the desk at him, his beady eyes feeling like they were piercing him, as if he could see the truth behind Tomura request.
"Such a request, regardless of my opinions on the matter, holds no weight legally you understand?" Nezu exclaimed simply, as if Tomura were a child who'd made a mistake on a test. Of course, given their respective maturities, that may be an accurate description.
"I'm aware that they are merely your students, not truly wards. Even through the lens that parents may expect in terms of U.A. preparing them for future jobs as heroes, and hero-adjacent positions... I would find myself in lawsuits everyday if I only had your permission. Perhaps I should clarify, I'm asking for your support only on paper so when I make a more legally binding contract with the various students' parents, I could do so with your support, which would most likely hold more weight than my own. Afterall, I'm only the CEO of a video game company, whereas you are the principal of one of the most prestigious hero schools in all of Japan!" Tomura rambled, nervously scratching at his cheek as he tried to keep his face from betraying him.
Seeing that Nezu wasn't replying, Tomura took it as a sign for him to continue (digging his own grave that is).
"If nothing else, I plan to involve the students as well, they won't have to help me regardless of your support or their parents' permission, I've built a reputation through cooperative heroes, not by forcing people to give me what I want. It can serve as a first introduction for young and aspiring heroes to marketing, creative licenses, and even function as a soft debut with the public. They are just starting out on the kind of heroes they want to become, knowing how the public might respond to them can help them along that path. I mean, several of your third years have agreed recently to such 'representation' in terms of my company, including your Big 3 who had a very positive response with the public." Tomura continued to ramble, not noticing that Nezu was sipping his tea and silently wondering if the young man would ever stop talking so he could answer.
Finally, Tomura had to take a breath as Nezu placed his cup down, taking the rare opportunity to answer, "If that is all, I see no reason I cannot lend my personal support behind to your request, however, the reputation of U.A. can't be given so easily." Nezu acquiesced.
"That's fine, honestly just your support alone will do wonders for convincing the parents. Now, I was wondering... pursuant to my request, if I could have two seats during your upcoming Sports Festival for scouting purposes. I know I should file for an actual box seat, but those are typically reserved for support companies, whereas I would prefer something closer to the stage." Tomura wheedled as Nezu sighed.
"I suppose I can grant that request, given it isn't really a difficult one to begin with, but you and your companion would have to pass a background check to be granted entrance, regardless of my approval, it's standard procedure. I assume a press pass is what you're angling for?" Nezu asked, not fooled by the young man's nervous style.
"Yes, you would be accurate. And a background check should be fine. Honestly, if she failed U.A.'s background check, I think she'd have bigger problems than getting in." Tomura joked.
While Nezu didn't laugh, he at least deigned the joke worth a smile as he hopped out of his chair, walking around the desk to shake Tomura's hand.
"As I said, my feelings on your business are irrelevant, but I will say your games have proven useful for inspiring our Entrance Exams, so-" Whatever he had been about to say was cut short as a sharp alarm went off, garnering his attention in an instant as he raced back behind his desk, checking something on the computer before running towards the door.
"Please remain here! An intruder has entered the grounds, and it wouldn't do for an associate of the school to be harmed on school grounds!" Nezu exclaimed, racing out of the room as Tomura looked after him, a sedate smile crossing his face as he rose.
"Let's get to work." He said simply, his quick stride taking him through the abandoned halls as he followed the path in his head, his destination only a few turns away as he turned a corner coming face-to-face with a charging green-haired boy who passed him with only a glance, something akin to fear visible in his eyes.
"Hmm, wonder where he was going? Oh well, it matters not a jot, oh God, I sound like a Victorian gentleman, I've got to stop talking to Kurogiri." 'Tomura' stated under his breath as he reached his destination, a few seconds early it seemed as a man strode down the hall towards him, long dark coat with a hood pulled up, mostly obscuring his face as he approached Tomura, he grinned widely as he rolled his neck.
...
...
...
I mirrored his expression as his skin warped, bones shifting silently as I held out a phone, Glitch shifting into digital form as he vanished into the device. I smiled softly as I turned away, heading for the Support Department, making sure my hood was covering my face as I passed yet another camera.
The plan had gone off without a hitch, Glitch masquerading as me, arrived this morning for my meeting with Nezu, making sure to be spotted by the newspeople. Then I arrived hours later, dusting the security door, allowing the press onto the school grounds, which covered my entrance as I met up with Glitch, retrieving the pass card, and UA none the wiser.
Was it a complicated plan, sure, but a necessary one. While I could've came myself earlier, it would've stood out more once the Support Course was hacked and robbed. I needed to be spotted inside the school much earlier, then I needed to let the press in to cause a distraction. I'd considered reversing our roles, letting Glitch override the security system, but it left too many chances.
Namely, evidence left behind would most likely reveal the intruder had hacked their way in, prompting U.A. to beef up their security in the future. Was there a chance that my current plan could lead such an intelligent opponent as Nezu to the same conclusion; I couldn't tell, but I'd have to take the risk... for some reason. I couldn't actually remember the reason I'd went through with this plan in the first place.
I mean, small meddling thoughts floated through my mind from how not infiltrating the school might help them narrow down my mole based on who had access to a class schedule, which would be worthless since I didn't need one what with my foreknowledge to robbing the Support Course of designs for various pieces of gear would help the League in the future, not to mention making a little side change from selling them off.
Honestly, part of me worried I'd simply done it because that was how the story had progressed, and so I'd naturally followed the course without thinking.
'Oh look, I spent so long talking to myself, I found the Development Studio.' I commented in my head, opening the door as I heard somebody sprinting past, not paying attention to the person as I entered the Design Studio.
"Get to work Glitch, grab as many files as you can and send them back to Zee at Base. I'm heading back to Nezu's office to keep up this charade. If someone walks in, just run, them not becoming aware of you is worth so much more to me than any of these 'babies'." I smirked, closing the door silently behind me as he headed back.
I considered breaking into the Teachers' Lounge to get a copy of the class arrangement for tomorrow, if for no other reason than to hide my true motive for this invasion, but it was risky, and had no true reward. After all, I had to assume they would notice some of the files missing once they returned, Glitch wasn't so kind as to make copies, he'd just grab the originals and abscond, leaving Powerloader, Mei, and any other equipment designer to rebuild from scratch and memory. The idea that such a hacker would take a copy of the class schedule was a logical leap, at least compared to the idea I was a dimension-hopping person.
In the end, it didn't really matter, for whatever reason I'd broken into U.A., I'd succeeded in industrial espionage, and would walk out at the end of the day without anyone the wiser. Which put me in an uncertain, but ultimately good mood.
A good mood that extended into my dinner plans.
"Hey Zee, how's things going back at base? Did Glitch get back safely?" I asked jovially, tapping away at my laptop as I set up some work to be expounded upon next time I was in the office, or I could just e-mail them over to Sasuke... provided tonight's dinner went well.
"Yes, approximately 87% of the files were obtained from the Support Department. I've already started working on a few interesting items. Our little mole also came by, apparently UA cancelled classes after your stunt, so they took advantage of the chaos to swipe a copy of the lesson plan tomorrow." Zee answered simply.
"Hmm, and the Commanders, are they ready for tomorrow?" I continued as I heard a soft sigh.
"Yes, the pervert has been slacking, but he should hold up. Your sister on the other hand is an excellent fighter, but I'm still worried about her opponents you selected." Zee stated as I smiled, not that she could see it.
"A Rogue's Sneak Attack can wreck a Barberian if they get high initiative." Was my only explanation as Zee acquiesced.
"And you're sure this attack is going to work, I'm not fond of trying to fight All Might." She added softly as I closed my laptop.
"I don't know if it's going to work, I know that it has to work. This is our debut, our first strike, if we can't leave a lasting impression then the war is going to be hell." I said, looking before crossing the street towards the restaurant. "Look, I gotta go, I have a meeting. I'll call Kuro when I'm done and we can go over the attack in more depth." I added.
"Kay, say hi to Rumi for me! Love you." She tacked on quickly as she cut the connection. Even after all these years, she still got nervous about affection. I fiddled with my ring before entering the restaurant, spotting my companion within seconds.
Rumi Usagiyama stood out in public spaces without trying, such was the cost of being the #5 hero Mirko.
"Sorry, did I keep you waiting long?" I inquired as the Rabbit Hero growled.
"You're the one who wanted to meet with me, and then you show up 20 minutes late! Remind me why I'm putting up with you Tomura?" Mirko asked sharply.
"You just had your birthday last month, thanks for the invite by the way. I wonder what the public would think about what I walked in on that night?" I smirked at the hero's wide eyes.
"I was drunk!" She hissed as I took a sip of a glass of water in front of me, which had appeared without me ordering, but I wasn't complaining.
"I should hope so, I would hope the #5 hero wouldn't conduct herself in such a manner while sober." I threatened with a smirk as Rumi cursed under her breath.
"Come on man, please keep that to yourself! If that got out, my image would be ruined, and that's not even considering how Ryuko would react." It was amusing seeing the rough-and-tumble heroine nervously plead.
"There's no need to worry, I personally think people wouldn't care that you cuddle a Ryuku bodypillow when you sleep, but that's not my business. I mean, really, no one cares if you have a crush on your friend/ colleague." I commented offhand, barely suppressing my laughter at her red face.
"It's not like that and you know it!" She hissed, looking around to see if anyone was listening. "We're just friends!" She assured me.
"Sure, and so are we." I replied simply, finding a steak with a side of mashed potatoes and a house salad. Rumi, likewise, had a plate piled up with just carrots.
"What?" She asked confusedly, although whether she meant her food or my off-hand comment I didn't know.
"Did you order for us?" I inquired.
"I think the waitress has a mind-reading Quirk. I'd worry if this place didn't serve only hero clientele." Mirko said as if it were obvious. I decided not to press any further. "And don't change the subject! What do you mean we're friends?"
"Oh, I just meant, we're friends as well right, so you shouldn't have any problems if I had a Mirko bodypillow that I slept with, right?" I said, cutting my steak with care as I bit into the succulent meat.
"Do you?" The white-haired hero questioned.
"No! That would be weird! We have a great working relationship, something resembling a friendship, I'm not about to even touch anything more than that. Besides the fact that I'm pretty sure my girlfriend wouldn't appreciate me fantasizing about the top ranked female hero." I exclaimed.
"What, you don't have a hero hallpass?" Rumi pressed with a needling smirk.
"No, but since you brought it up, how exactly am I supposed to know whether you'd have a crush on Ryukyu. When's the last time you went on a date with a guy?" I turned it around as Mirko backpedaled, innocently whistling.
"I know, you don't have time with all your heroing. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure I can guess what most guys would ask between A) Are carrots the only thing rabbit-like about you and B) What's the strongest thing you've ever crushed between your legs." I meandered as Rumi devoured carrots happily.
"True." She answered quickly, chomping yet another carrot.
"I'll rambling again, sorry." I apologized as I placed my utensils down. "Easter is in 2-and-a-half weeks, just after the U.A. Sports Festival. I want to run an event on the game featuring you." I revealed, unsurprisingly.
"Is this because I'm a rabbit?" Mirko asked without any fanfare.
"Yes, and unless you can provide me a better hero for a rabbit-themed holiday, I'm going to continue talking. Rather than something actually related to easter, it's more of just a celebration of Mirko. So on that point, do you remember our agreement when I first signed you on to my crazy train?" I asked the silent heroine.
"I assume you mean, about me being a representative for female empowerment or some rabbitshit?" She replied with a thinly concealed eyeroll.
"Yes, exactly, I thought you would make a great role model for the next generation of heroines, so following that thought, I wanted to know if their was a hero you looked up to when you were first starting out, or in middle school that made you want to be a hero?" I asked, all business now that our fun was over.
"Well, not when I was first starting out, I mean obviously Uwabami certainly helped me, and all the other girls at the Heroine groups, but I don't think that's what you're asking for." Rumi replied, although I didn't answer as she though over her answer.
"When I was a little bunny, yes, I was cute at one point, not the 'snu-snu bun-bun' as I've recently learned a select group of my more interesting fans call me online. Anyways, when I was a little girl, there was this heroine I saw on TV one time, and she had this crazy workout routine, but I followed it, every day." Rumi revealed as she stared me in the eye, seriously oozing from her tone.
"Perfect, that's exactly the kind of material I was looking for. Do you remember her name?" I asked, making a mental note as I got to work.
"Have you ever heard of Nana Shimura?" I grinned.
Midoriya nervously bounced his leg as the scenery rolled by.
During the attack yesterday, he never found Shigaraki for all his effort. But he knew he'd been there, as soon as the press invasion was over, the students were sent home. Izuku had overheard one of the teachers, Present Mic, mention that the system had been compromised. Deciding that enough was enough, Izuku had hoped to talk to All Might about his dreams, hoping his idol could provide answers.
But being rushed off put a damper on that plan, leaving Midoriya to consider his options.
He called All Might several times, only getting a voicemail notification that All Might's voicemail box was full. Even All Might, it seemed, fell victim to technologies issues. Then he'd sent the #1 hero a test.
Hey All Might, it's me. I have something important to talk to you about! It concerns... you-know-what.
After a night of anticipation, Midoriya had fallen asleep clutching his phone, worried about the coming attack.
Immediately upon awakening, he'd checked his phone, seeing a reply from the blonde hero.
Young Midoriya, meet me before class at the school. This is a talk better had in person.
He'd scarfed down his breakfast of katsudon, not even capable of enjoying it in the wake of his coming talk. After rushing to the school, the train mostly empty at this early hour, the roads empty of work-goers for at least another half-hour, and his racing footsteps echoing inside the halls of UA.
Surprisingly, he wasn't the first one to the school, not even the second. He encountered several older students, including one with a blonde with a large cowlick similar to All Might's laughing as another boy with black hair smiled kindly, idly sipping something from a thermos. He didn't spare them a second thought as he hurried to the teacher's lounge, eager to see All Might.
He waited there until school started and Mr. Aizawa retrieved him. The sleepy-eyed Homeroom teacher didn't press him on the details of why he was waiting to see All Might, but he did tell him All Might was going to meet them at the USJ for today's lesson.
Which was how Deku found himself on the bus to the USJ, clad in his costume, which wasn't destroyed this time.
He'd considered mentioning to Mr. Aizawa about the possible attack, but he was worried about how he'd even convince the pragmatic teacher. He doubted claiming to have developed precognition would work, his Quirk was listed as a muscle-based one. Super Strength, believable, Super Speed, added musculature in his legs, Enhanced Durability, his muscle density increased. He could explain away a lot of physical abilities, but mental powers spontaneously showing up would raise a lot of questions. And it wasn't as if Deku could tell him about One-for-All. All he could do was be ready on the 90% chance this did go bad.
"You okay Deku, you look really nervous right now?" Uraraka asked from a few inches away, scaring the green-haired boy as he yelped, earning a laugh from a couple of the other students. "I don't blame you, I can barely sit still. I didn't do much during the battle training, so I have to go all-out today!" The pink cheeked girl yelled.
"Right, I didn't get much sleep last night, so I'm a little jumpy today." Midoriya mumbled.
"You should be fine Midoriya, your Quirk is pretty similar to All Might's so you should do great today." Asui stated as Midoriya jumped.
"Oh wow, thanks Asui, All Might's my idol, that means a lot; I still have a long way to go before I'm close to All Might." Deku cheered.
"Yeah, but at least you have a flashy Quirk. That practically guarantees you for Pro-level hero work. Mine is a simple Augment-type that makes me a little harder." Kirishima added, showing off his Hardening as his arm turned rock-like.
"No way, you have a whole bunch of potential. How strong can you block, bullets, knives, cannons?" Midoriya came alive as he started interrogating Kirishima.
"Well, I've never really checked, but I trained myself by punching myself in the face a bunch, and when that didn't work anymore, hit myself with a steel pipe. But I mean, Bakugo was capable of throwing me down a hallway in the battle training the other day." Kirishima explained.
The aforementioned blonde grunted.
"Even with his flashy Quirk, with his absolutely garbage personality, Bakugo hasn't got a chance as a hero!" Mina shouted as the explosive blonde turned on her, palms crackling with explosions.
"What did you say you alien?!" Bakugo roared as Aizawa turned around, his eyes glowing red as the class quieted down without a word.
"Forget hero work, he needs to focus on being a decent human being first." Hagakure teased as the blonde turned to see... nothing.
"Where'd you go, you invisible extra. Show yourself so I can blow you up!" Bakugo ordered, as if the girl would obey with a threat like that.
"Yeah, so about that trashfire personality?" Kaminari teased, earning several laughs as he turned to his partner, Shinso.
"So, did you try the game out? I got a notification this morning that they're running a Easter event featuring Mirko." The electrical blonde inquired.
"So tired, let me sleep." Shinso mumbled, wobbling as he fell to the side, caught from cracking his head on the floor by Mina, who softly laid his head down on her lap.
"Come on man, not even a week and Shinso's already getting a lap pillow? Damn it!" Kaminari bemoaned as Jiro jabbed him with her jacks.
"Maybe if you weren't a pervert, some girl would've offered when you fry your brain." The rocker snapped; her other jack lugged into her phone as she tapped her foot to the beat.
"Oh, do you play The Game Kaminari?" Izuku asked, an eager look on his face.
"Yeah, do you play Midoriya?" The blonde asked, already pulling out his phone as the verdette nodded.
"The Game? What is that?" Momo leaned in, glancing at the two boys comparing something on their phones.
"Oh, it's what called a MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. It's like the Battle Trials we did! You select a hero to play as part of a team of 5, and you fight another team of 5 in a simulated arena!" Kaminari answered.
"Wow, you have a level 72 Hawks? My highest is All Might, but he's only level 50. I've been trying out the Pussy Cats lately after they were added." Izuku eagerly conversed.
"Mirko supremacy!" Bakugo yelled from the other side, angrily crossing his arms.
"Wow, you main Mirko Bakugo, I've pegged you as more of an Endevour player. Mirko does have crazy burst damage though, and she's the best at solo'ing a lane so I guess it makes sense for you." Kaminari said.
"Solo'ing?" Momo asked again, head titled to the side in confusion.
"Oh yeah, how to explain. Solo'ing is when you cover an entire lane by yourself, with no backup or help. Kinda like Bakugo during the fights, or Todoroki." Kaminari explained as simply as possible, without going into what lanes were, or why that was good for the team.
"But then, wouldn't that just make her best if she can do alone what other teams use multiple players for?" Mina asked, apparently only getting half of the conversation.
"Well yeah, but I read an article that the lead developer and CEO of the company that produced it has a really close relationship with Mirko. Apparently, she was one of the first hires he managed to snag, so he tends to favor her pretty well, like with the event coming up that is focused on her, she even got a new skin that they're going to reveal later this evening." Kaminari explained astutely, only to receive blank stares from several of the other students.
"What, do I have something on my face?" The blonde questioned, patting his face.
"No, it's just, I never knew you could sound smart or explain anything." Jiro drawled as the electric hero-in-training pouted.
"Oh, I also wanted to ask, are you okay Shinso?" Izuku asked, only for the soft snores to dissuade him of that notion.
"Don't worry about him," Momo interrupted. "Our meeting yesterday was canceled due to the press incident, so we had to come in super early this morning to finish it up. And on that note, would you be amenable to the idea of helping out as Secretary, Midoriya?" The ravenette creationist asked, catching the green bean off-guard.
"Huh, you want me?" He was confused, why would they be that interested in him?
"Yeah, Kendo was voted Class Rep for 1-B so she's already familiar with you, and you seem to get along with most everyone on the Council, and I've seen your notes, you would've had a bright future as a stenographer." The young heiress assured him.
"Oh, uhmm, sure, I guess, if you're sure about it..." He trailed off, his thoughts shifting as Mr. Aizawa cleared his throat.
"Wake up Shinso, we're almost there, and if I'm not allowed to sleep, neither is he." The drowsy teacher commented.
Despite the tone used, most of the class still smiled and chuckled at their homeroom teacher's petulance.
Five minutes later, the class unloaded from the bus, several spotting the approaching hero Thirteen in her puffy space suit.
"Welcome everyone, to the Unforeseen Situation Joint, or USJ! The USJ was built from simulated accident sites, such as floods, wildfires, earthquakes, and city ruins, to help heroes-in-training practice for the real thing." Thirteen greeted everyone, most of the class smiling as her cheery tone.
"Oh God, she's so cute, I just want to give her a big hug!" Mina squealed in the back, Uraraka mirroring her with an enthusiastic nod.
"I know, she's like lowkey one of my favorite heroes!" The fellow space-themed heroine cheered.
"Hehe, 'lowkey' you sound like Mina, Uraraka." Jiro teased as the pink cheeks went red and purple respectively.
"Now then, before we begin, I have one thing to say, or two or maybe three... or four or five..." Thirteen wheedled.
"Hey, where's he at?" Aizawa cut in, as the two teachers turned away, but a few of the students, such as Jiro and Shoji could still hear her answer.
"He's running late, apparently there was a situation or two or three this morning that he had to resolve, but Nezu called and said he should be able to come in after lunch." The spacey hero explained as Mr. Aizawa nodded.
Deku, on the other hand, was barely listening to them, only noticing as Thirteen held up three fingers as his blood went cold. It was happening, how could he forget when he'd just seen it happen last night in his dreams!
"Now then, where was I? Oh yes, as you may or may not know, my Quirk is called Blackhole, and I can use it to suck up matter and reduce it down to dust." Thirteen explained.
"Yeah, you've used it to save lots of people!" Uraraka cheered.
"Yes, but it's also a Quirk that can be easily to kill." Thirteen's tone caught everybody on the backfoot.
"I'm sure some of you even have Quirks like that. Through Aizawa's Quirk Apprehension Test, you tested your current limits and applications in the field. Then with All Might, you used those same Quirks on people. Today, you'll use them to help others, to save people." Thirteen explained as several of the students nodded. But internally, Izuku was panicking.
And rightfully so, as the lights flickered, Midoriya looking around with wide eyes. Knowing exactly what to look for, he spotted the first wisps of black smoke appear in the courtyard as a swirling portal appeared.
"Oh, is this part of the training?" Kirishima asked, punching his palm with a toothy smirk.
"No, get back! Thirteen, tend to the children! Kaminari, can you contact the main campus?" Mr. Aizawa switched into hero mode in a moment, his eyes glowing crimson ominously, and shifting his goggles over his face in a smooth movement, careful not to obstruct his Quirk's effect.
"No, I'm cut off!" The elctric blonde answered instantly, while a bit of a slacker, he could tell their teacher was being serious.
'No no no no! What do I do? The villains aren't ttacking yet, and I'm at the back thanks to my warning. Mr. Aizawa has go the portal villain locked down for the moemnt, I could probably make it to the door, but then what? Run back to campus for help?!' Dku thoguht, going over his few options in a moment before steeling himself, turning to leave, the fear rooted in his heart spurning him forwards.
Only to stop short as more memories flooded in. If he ran, Asui would be stuck in the Flood Zone, without him, she would only have... Mineta didn't exist, so possibly Shinso, but the purple-haired hero-in-training was exhausted, he'd be a sitting duck out there! Not to mention, Midoriya ranked low on the fifty-meter run, and the endurance tests, maybe he could channel One for All into a single toe, and blast himself as far as possible, and keep doing that, but it would be reckless and wouldn't work. They'd taken a bus to get here, a thirty-minute ride in a freaking bus, there was no way he was going to cover that much distance with a cobbled together plan. Iida had done it before, the boy's Quirk was perfect for this situation, built for speed and long-distance running, Izuku knew his friend wouldn't let them down!
Any further thoughts were cut short as the swirling, amorphous form of Kurogiri appeared before the class 1-A, Mr. Aizawa gone to confront Shigaraki in the courtyard.
The deep baritone spilled from somewhere within the body of black smoke, "Hello fellow hero aspirants, we are the League, and we have gathered here today to witness the death of All Might!" and before anyone could react, darkness consumed them.
