Once the song was over, Logan politely kissed Rory on the cheek and said, "Thank you for the dance, Ace."
They walked over to their friends who immediately scattered like shrapnel. Rory commented to Logan, "Wow, that was subtle," with an eyeroll and a chuckle. "I think they want us to be alone."
Logan nodded, "Uh, huh. I think so too.
Rory picked up her drink that had been replaced with a fresh drink while they were dancing. She sipped it mostly out of nervousness and so that she would have something to do with her hands. Rory smirked at Logan and said, "When I woke up this morning, I never dreamed I would spend almost the entire day with you. Its so good to see you again."
Logan gave her a soft smile and said, "Hey, are you staying here at the hotel?"
She smirked at him and raised one eyebrow. "Yeah... why?"
He furrowed his brow and said, "Okay, feel free to say no, but... I have this idea. What do you say we get in comfortable clothes, order junk food and watch Saturday Night Live like we used to? Its been forever since we did that and it was one of my favorite things." He pursed his lips and waited to be shot down. Before she said anything else, he continued, "I know its Saturday Night in New York and you could be doing anything with anyone but..."
She placed her hand on his knee to get him to stop talking, "Logan, yes. That sounds great. Really."
"Really?" he asked her.
"Yeah, really, I've missed SNL nights with you," she looked up shyly at him.
Logan took a deep breath and said, "Okay, your room or mine?"
Rory grinned, "Mine. I already have a tote bag of junk food in my room."
He nodded, "Of course you do."
She smacked him in the arm with a smirk and said, "Room 1248. Give me 15 minutes to change."
Logan nodded and said, "Okay. See you in 15, Ace."
After Rory thanked Finn for the evening, she snuck upstairs and went to her room. After using the restroom, she decided to wash her face and take off all her makeup. Then she changed into her pajamas. Men's-style pajamas from Victoria Secret, long pants, long sleeve, black with tiny pink flowers and a sheer stripe on the side seams. Sexy but subtle, cozy but slightly suggestive. Perfect. Besides, they were the only pajamas she had with her so other than wearing the hotel-provided bathrobe, it was her only option. She added a pair of fuzzy pink socks and put her hair in a messy bun. She looked exactly like she used to look in college when they used to do this.
She went over to the living room side of her room. She turned the TV on to a low volume and turned on some lamps so that the room would be well-lit. She aimed for friendly entertainment and not romance. Well, not much romance. Well... she wouldn't mind some romance, but still. She didn't want him to think that she was trying to seduce him.
She sat on the weird hotel couch trying to find a good seat. It was hard and not comfortable. She glanced over at the bed and immediately said, "No." She sighed, still looking for a good place for them to watch television when she heard a soft knock at the door.
She went to the door and found Logan wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie and Nikes. "Hey," she breathed as she opened the door.
"Hello," he said with his signature smirk. "No feetsie pajamas?"
"They're in the hamper, sorry..." she returned his smirk. "Come on in," she said as she held the door open for him.
"Why are you so nervous, Ace?" he asked as he glanced at her as he walked past.
She followed him to the couch and flopped down. "Because its you - well, us. You know. The last time we spent time together, it went to hell. I don't want to mess it up again."
Logan nodded, "I know. I don't want to either." He sat down gingerly on the edge of the couch. "This couch really sucks, doesn't it?" he asked with a chuckle.
Rory burst out laughing. "Yes! Before you got here, I was trying to find a comfortable place to sit."
Logan found the room service menus on the desk and handed them to her. "What do you think you want to order?"
"Ice cream? Do you feel like ice cream? Or cake? Or pizza? Anything really," she shrugged.
Logan chuckled and said, "Ok, I'm glad to see you haven't changed much. I'll order a few things. Coffee? Nevermind... who am I asking?"
He picked up the desk phone and placed an order for room service. Once he hung up, Rory said, "Hey, would you ask them to send up a few more pillows? Maybe we can make the couch more comfortable?"
"Good call," Logan said while picking up the phone again.
After his call they stared at each other awkwardly and Logan finally asked, "So...I know you went through something big today. You okay?"
She blinked a few times and said, "Yep."
The bellman knocked at the door and dropped off a stack of 4 pillows. They tried to position the pillows to make the couch more comfortable, but it just didn't work. Rory finally sighed and asked him, "Would it sound like a proposition if I asked if you wanted to sit on the bed?"
Logan gave her a wry smile and said, "No... it would be kinder than asking me to sit on that horrible couch with you."
They added the pillows to the original pile of pillows on the king size bed until the room service was delivered. Logan opened the door and a server appeared with a huge tray of junk food. They placed it on the bed and leaned against the pillows, while settling in for Saturday Night Live. Logan kicked off his shoes and sat on the edge of the bed while trying to figure out a respectable distance to stay from Rory.
Rory ate a hot fudge sundae with French fries on the side while Logan had a root beer float and a huge cookie. Half way through the opening monologue, Rory glanced at him and smiled, "Hey, thanks for this. This is fun."
Logan finished his bite of cookie and said, "It really is."
They snacked until the beginning of Weekend Update. They decided they were both done with the snacks so Logan left the tray outside the door and came back to the bed. He found Rory leaned back against the pillows so he did too, making sure to not touch her. They were both on top of the blankets and all the lamps were still on. No one was 'setting the mood' or whatever you want to call it, but it was familiar to both of them and comfortable. He decided to just relax and enjoy being with her. They watched the show in earnest and laughed like children. They mocked the musical act mercilessly and talked during the commercials. As they watched curtain call, Rory made sure to grab the remote so that she could find the next thing for them to watch. It was her way of asking him not to leave yet without asking.
They found a rerun of Seinfeld playing on Nick at Night. At some point, Rory fell asleep and her head slipped onto his shoulder. Logan froze because he desperately didn't want things to be misconstrued. He stayed there and eventually fell asleep too. An hour later, Rory woke up and was horrified to notice that her head was resting on his shoulder. She didn't want to wake him so she tiptoed around the room, turning off lamps and brushed her teeth. When she came back to a sleeping Logan in her bed, she felt there was a decision to make. Should she wake him and send him to his room? Or should she let him sleep and try her hardest not to attack him since he was irresistible and already in her bed.
She settled on sliding her legs under the covers and laying back on the pillows. She muted the TV and tried not to disturb him - even though he was just so beautiful - laying there 4 inches away from her. Once she settled back on her pillows and closed her eyes, Logan surprised her by pulling her against his chest. She was still under the covers and he was over the covers, but her head landed on his shoulder, her arm was across his stomach and his arm tucked her securely against him. She realized Logan was dead asleep and she sighed. It felt like home. She exhaled and snuggled into his body. In his sleep, he kissed the top of her head and wrapped his other arm around her too. This was how they slept every single night when they lived together, other than him being fully dressed and on top of the blankets. She fell asleep instantly.
