Stargate Atlantis Trading Grounds I: The Return To La Rochelle
Warnings: This story is going to match the dialog, in the flashback memories, of chapter 4, of the past meets the present series. As it also follows the complete mental breakdowns, of the human half of the team. And Robert Makepeace and Adam Johnson, so the story is going to follow the dialog to the letter exactly. Along with some new dialog that was not in the fast forwarded portion in the flashbacks.
With this chapter it's jumping over the mission to Ernest's research station, before returning to earth now, and ending up back on the base now. Said now looking exactly like the Enterprise D, in every way, shape or form. And just without the technical problems, as the tunneling between their base and White Rock Research Station. There is a set of jeffries tubes going horizontally that way, rather then vertically.
Basing this in real time, rather then the show, of 25 years ago, Antarctica was a neutral zone for research so military research was not allowed out there. And with it, as the chair is considered military technology, it was meant to be last resort. In case of another orbital attack, so the outpost is now trade and exploration. So with this chapter, is the colony/crew is now getting used to being a slightly underwater crew.
As he's getting to work in trading to bring in more improvement for the planet at large now, so a military attack. Just to bring him back to the states, is attempted, is an international. In incidents and enough to get them convicted for kidnapping now, with his clearance. So from here, is he's dropping in on Ry'ac and Drey'auc and before the press conference. And just before his first stop in planets is to Gaea, home of the Nox.
This chapter will finish off this portion of the story-line, as the next two chapters and forward, cover chapter 2, going by the name. And of The Glory Of Tantulus, which covers things, from his going to the races and Tok'ra creation of the treaty. And his return to Shyla, before the following Chapters cover the the breakdowns of the trio and Carter, who's lost her ability to function mentally, out of desperation now.
As the mission was sanctioned, and he was transferred to Landry and the Atlantis team at the time. As Rodney McKay, Cam Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, Hank Landry, Frank Simmons, Steven Caldwell, John Shepard. And Elizabeth Weir enter the picture here, the story will have Daniel and Teal'C joining their team. As the SGA is founded 5 years early, and moved into the outpost on earth….

Chapter 48: Missions Begin And Final Farewells III
"True, but two of us are the same as your father, and at the moment, you still look like a 16 year old cadet. So with that, don't push it right now, you need to be in bed for a while." he said and Daniel smiled. "And if I do?" he asked and Walker and Collins looked down as they started laughing. "Buddy, we have the serum on board this habitat, you forget already, he let you have it one too many times here." Walker said with a chuckle.
As he leaned in then gently to that. "Don't get smart with me now, you wiseacre, you remember the last few times you did right now. I know you are, and the serum makes you even more so right now, but after that reaction. Is you're once again 3 trapped in your adult body, little you is close now, so don't push me. You know how I still see you, since we met last year." Henderson said to him, smiling paternally then at him gently.
In keeping his arm wrapped across his waist, stroking the skin of his side and he tried to keep from laughing. "Still ticklish right here, baby hmm." He asked him stroking the skin of his side very slowly and his mental tone started shaking in laughter. 'Uh, uh, okay, okay point taken, Dave please, you made your point, I'll be good, I swear.' they heard, his mental tone shaking in laughter before feeling his fingers stroke the sole of his foot then slowly.
As his laughter started getting worse as they heard it then. 'Wait did they…, why is my leg feeling like it wrapped, unless…, oh no, I sprained my ankle out there. Alright, alright point taken, but just no paw torture, no paw, please, you win, Dave stop. Stop let me up, let me up, please let me up darn serum, I'm stuck here and…., oh no. No not again not again, no tickle cub, please no tickle cub.' they heard laughing and he chuckled then.
'Uh oh me in twouble, Dan no get playful, no get playful, or we be tickled again, no get playful.' they heard and Haden chuckled at that. 'Little boy trapped in an adult body, but even at this age, he still likes to get playful. And with the paternal psychiatrist right now, alright young man, you maybe an adult. But to me you're still a cadet, don't push me, or you're going to get it.' they heard with a chuckle as he answered that remark gently.
"Alright, alright you made your point Uncle Dave, I promise, I'll be good." he said smiling as he tried to hold his hand back. "Something wrong?" he said running his hand back to his side. "Uncle Dave really you made your point, I won't give you any trouble, I swear right now." He said, his voice shaking in laughter then. "Oh what's wrong baby, you ticklish, that what it is." he said smiling doing his stomach and he tried to keep laughing.
"Don't give me any trouble as you recover from this, or you're in big trouble, baby, so…., is baby still ticklish." Henderson said, wrapping his arms across his waist, paternally, before doing a fast spider run then by getting him in the stomach. And he started laughing as he started squirming, trying to turn on his side, and he turn him back as he kept it up. "Alright, alright, I take it back, I take it back, I'll be good, I swear, I swear, I swear, stop."
"Uncle Dave stop, you win, you win, I give up, I give up." he through his laughter then as he went back and forth on his side and stomach. 'Help, why did I say that, 10 months, he still acts like I'm 16, I can't take this, somebody get to him to stop.' they heard through a tone loaded with laughter and Landry chuckled. 'Yeah baby, best not get smart with your own psychiatrist right now, before he tickles you to death.' Carson thought with a chuckle then.
'My baby, yeah there's the him I know.' they heard with an affection, as he snuggled into his side, and he smiled then, in rubbing his back. And he laid there with his head nestled into his side, using his thigh as the pillow and he stroked his hand through his hair. "Yeah I think he grew too attached to you, though 35, when with you he's still a near cadet. And of going on 18 with you, Dave." Gordon said smiling and he nodded, as his eyes closed then.
And for a second time as he ran his fingers, in a soothing gesture through his hair. "Well at least the missions are slowing down right now finally as Egeria's back. We got enough done right now, that we're way ahead of schedule, and he can enjoy here. In being a Naval crewman right now, as he's not leaving earth all the time now." he said and Haden nodded in agreement as he fell asleep before, after 6 hours, and still no word on Sam.
And after another quick nap then, he changed back and into a set of long sleeve t-shirt, his sweater and sweat pants and as they waited till he was ready and he nodded sternly. "New psychiatrist and team, if anything, this is like my cub quartet traveling." he said and they chuckled. "Hey bro, you feeling better?"Warren asked and he nodded. "My suit and the hose were sabotaged, the duo's attempted to bring back me, by suggesting here."
"That deepsea diving, as a Naval crewman, is just not for me." he said, and he and Lou crossed their arms. "Why just you, why not all of us exactly, why not sabotage all of our suits and hoses, why just you?" Parker asked and Sam went pale then, realizing they knew she targeted him only as they went to check the camera to see where she went. 'Sam damn it, first Sha're and now this, you lied to me, again, you promised!' they heard sternly then.
"She tell you she was going out, because we never had a hatak crash in the Antarctic, before, so why start now, aside from Pelops, and he's too low to dive down too. So what's the point, where is she going exactly?" he asked, seeing her and they shook their heads. "No, but she's either hallucinating or better her mind finally snapped right now, then again knowing her mental state over you, she's desperate to protect herself."
"And between that and the fact here, she's been stuck down here, for the last 3 weeks, is she just finally cracked. And from the underwater dementia, we found your cord cut, when we got you back up here. But whatever reason she would have leave the habitat for right now, is enough to consider. That she's suffering space dementia now." Henderson said to him and he nodded as he said it. "Sam?" he said and she said it then.
"Daniel? I can't hear you." she said and they exchanged looks. "Nice lie." Collins said sternly and they nodded. "Captain, if you can't hear him, then why are you answering the summons, shouldn't you be pretending the com is busted, after the squid attack." Haden said sternly to that and the quartet crossed their arms. "Agreed here, if she can't hear you, why did she answer right now exactly?" Walker said sternly and he nodded then.
"Sam, what are you doing?" he asked her and she explained that. "I went out looking for food, we're out of food." she said and Walker, looking over his shoulder at Collins, who shook his head. "Cupboards are loaded, plenty of food in the fridge, she snapped." he said softly and Walker covered the mike with his hand at that remark. "There's plenty of food, I was just in up there, the pressures of being down here, she just cracked, Daniel."
"I think Hancock let her out prematurely here." he said sternly to that and he nodded firmly. "You went to look for food in the spacecraft? That seems a little odd, don't you think?" he asked her gently then. "Why, what's odd about it?" she asked and he explained that to her then. "If there was food? Sam, uh, wouldn't it be three hundred years old?" he said and she said it with a hopeful smile in her tone to that remark at the remark then.
"I was hoping our luck would change and I'd find a cryogenic freezer. Maybe a bottle of bordeaux." she said and Alexander nodded sternly then."She's lying." he said and Walker nodded. "Daniel, she's lying about everything, we been together so long, you said it yourself, after you joined us, why would I lie to you exactly, our friendship." he said and he nodded, knowing that cemented his decision, his ex team to his new friends, Teal'C.
He chose his new Navy quintet, and she said it carefully. "Is Eric there with you, Daniel?" she said and Redford pointed her thumb over her shoulder and he nodded. "Not at the moment right now, Eric's checking the system Sam, but why don't we just talk. When you get back? Meet me in the galley. I'll buy you a cup of coffee, we still have coffee, don't we?" he asked with a joking smile in the question, and they heard a bemused tone.
And to that, as Haden hid a chuckle to that remark. 'If this isn't Sphere, stargate style and nothing ever is right now, he's sounding like Goodman right now. In terms of handling this, and Dave is letting him do the talking for him, but there it is. The psyche report just landed on the table and put her in hotwater again right now. They just got caught out of their desperation and fears.' they heard gently to that and he nodded gently then.
"Very funny, I'll take mine black, like my mood." she said and he nodded. "All right. See you soon." he said and turns off the microphone. "So now what, she's clearly not able to handle this." he asked and he nodded. "Well there it is, she and Jack are determined to get me back over there, as Makepeace is behind bars. And Johnson and Maybourne with him right now, but I'm not going back, the last 10 to 11 months here."
"I never had a better time now, but here's the problem right now, and Uncle Dave you better contact Uncle Jake, but it's they see this. And as 10 to 11 months being an anthropologist and deepsea diver, as too much of a good thing. And time to return to full military again." he said and Henderson crossed his arms. "Well not going to happen, it took less time then ever for you to heal, that I'm not allowing them to push you."
"And back into a relapse, as episode 18 is non canon as is 20, but 19, 21 and 22 are canon." Barnes said sternly and Walker nodded in agreement. "That why should you go back, you're happier then ever, and never been stronger here now. Look at you, you changed, gotten stronger, you're happy with Sarah, the job was never more fun now. That why should we allow them to push you back into that, it's not going to happen."
"They're out of their minds, if they think we're going to allow this, to cause a relapse, besides I prefer you being here. As you share my tastes in undersea exploration, just putting our heads together. As we knock ideas back and forth, you're happy here, that why return this purgatory exactly. When this is paleontological paradise, you're an archeologist, so what got sunk is your forte." Parker said sternly and he smiled at her.
And Sam and Jack paled, realizing their attempt to bring him back backfired, and they were the enemy now at that. "It's also as you said, basing that on Goodman's report right now, 'Contact teams meeting a new grouping. In time frames, must be prepared, for severe psychological side effects. Of that culture, as not having studied in advance, and can not be entirely predicted in advance, but the most likely consequence of contact."
"Is absolute terror.'." Barnes said to him and he nodded. "Thanks for the help Michael, your movies are coming in handy severely here. And turning this one into a live action one, the story took precedence here. And to the level of quoting that report actually came in handy, the chosen members for the program. It's and they really should have listened to him sooner right now, when we can handle this, but they can't here."
"So now what exactly here." Walker asked and Daniel nodded. "Did you screw with her head right now, so we got a reason to put her away, after she sabotaged my cord. Because if that's not desperation turning dangerous and nothing ever is, she's out of her mind here, to protect herself at the moment now?" he asked and they nodded. "Yeah we did, we beamed everything up to the base, after she left, we brought it back."
"So there's Goodman's entire remark, I never said that I'd man the monitors, I heard you shouting over the radio and quickly got your attention." Walker said and Henderson said it sternly. "So with that in mind here right now, is she promised to watch your trip there now and she didn't. She thinks Eric said something he didn't, she thinks that the cupboards are empty when they're full here, so going over the evidence here."
"So clinically here right now, we'd call that a psychotic break, out of desperation now to protect themselves. But they did that to themselves, all you had to do was show up for it." he said and Barnes nodded sternly in agreement. "Uh huh, yeah what we have here are two ingredients: Sam and this underwater environment..., you put them together. And you've got one big ass bomb." Walker said sternly and he nodded to him in agreement.
As the 4 of them talking, as Sam enters, as they prepared for the final decision, if there was another close call attack, and the one causing was being arrested. And for reckless endangerment of the civilians on board the ship. "How'd it go with the mini-sub?" she said and he said it carefully to her then at that question. "It was a little disconcerting out there, actually." he said and she froze. "Oh?" she said and he nodded sternly then to her.
"Weren't you supposed to be watching me from the control room?" he said and she said it. "Eric said he'd take over for me, he sat down right…, in front of the monitors.., and…, Daniel, what happened?" she asked and he said it. "I was in trouble, where the hell were you?" he said, his tone stern and she said it shakily, realizing, again, this was based on another Sha're. "What's going on, Daniel?" she said and he said it, as the 4 of them.
Were sitting there and they were watching at her carefully. "What's going on, well what's going on here, is I considered a case of total mental breakdown. You been here two weeks, and suddenly the isolation, is getting to you, and now. We see it immediately right now, you remember the symptoms of a nervous breakdown. Well all I know is, going out to find 300 year old food in the spacecraft when there's plenty of food."
"Right here in the habitat, isn't exactly normal." he said and she looked at him in shock at that news. 'Oh boy, yeah there it is, she's never going to convince us now, in truth, knowing her desperation.' they heard sternly to that remark, and Jackson nodded, knowing that came from himself, as whoever between them arranged this. They made the point, she was not cut out for being in the space station, or traveling by ship, around the galaxy right now.
"What do you mean, plenty of food? I was just here. There's nothing in th…"she said, and checked and saw food, "Ta-da…, a veritable horn of plenty."Walker said and she turned around slowly. "He must've hidden it." she said, shaking and he scoffed then, as he answered that. "You think I hid all this food, how exactly, there is no chance of that, and not when we can't leave the habitat, and I'm not a Jedi, though I'm a Ancient descent."
"But that's beside the point, abusing the powers are a critical no no, to being lightside users, and frankly, knowing your state of mind. I'm not likely, now, to start screwing with your head any worse then it is already."he said sternly and Daniel crossed his arms, as Stone was looking at her intently then and she paled at that remark. Now realizing the entire team all knew her psychiatric profile and she said it, shaking, to him then quickly at that.
"I don't know what's going on here, but twenty minutes ago I was standing right here and there was no food in the cupboards and no food in the refrigerator." she said and he nodded. "Why, Sam? Why would Eric do that? Why would he set you up?" he said to her carefully then and she started shaking in fear. "I don't know what happened. All I know is this food wasn't here." she said shakily and Walker said it sternly to her at that remark.
"Uh huh, okay there's my version to Goodman's report, as he said here, 'Contact teams meeting an unknown life form. Or U.L.F., must be prepared for severe psychological impact, stress reaction. When confronted by unknown life has not been sufficiently studied and cannot be entirely predicted. In advance, but the most likely consequence, of contact is absolute terror.'." he quoted and she paled, realizing how bad this looked.
"But you promised to watch out for me and you didn't, you went to find food, that we already have, hello red flag here. And while you're looking for food, I'm close to a black out, from another medical emergency. And out of hypoxia, my cord blacked, out, and Teal'C had to come in after me, get me out. It's Goodman's incident with rapid cooling effect with the helium here." Hoffman said and Henderson crossed his arms then.
"Which is why I'm dressed like this, repeated hot drinks, wrapped in blankets, Uncle Dave said, that I'm very lucky, beyond lucky right now. As were it not for Eric's fast thinking, I would be dead right now, out of asphyxiation right now. So again why you leave the camera room, when my anchor blacked out right now?" he asked, and she started shaking violently in fear, realizing Henderson, too, was another psychiatrist then.
"I'm telling you, I was standing here, and this food was not here." she said, shaking in fear "Calling Captain Carter, calling Captain Sam Carter, please return to reality." Jackson said to her and that did it. "Shut up!" she said at him and then said it to Daniel. "Okay, you can see what he's doing to me." she said and he said it. "Can I Sam, after Sha're, the sarcophagus, and Machello, as you were supposed to be watching, Sam."
"You were supposed to be watching, but you were not there at all." he said and broke it down. "It's been what, 9 months, since your father, I been living here, and these guys are my best friends, they never lie to me, I been coming into the habitat. And 9x's out of 10, after Svetlana contacted us, saying she locked onto something. And Maybourne got arrested now?" he asked and she started shaking violently, realizing how bad now.
"No I been doing this off and on, and for 10 months, I been down here 79 times in 10 months, this makes my 80th time. To them, I'm a natural at this, but the one time we bring you on board. But my locker is next to their's, my underwater suit, to them, I'm part of their team, just like I'm Andy's next in command here." he said and she paled, realizing he did it so often the effects didn't get to him, this was her first time and she cracked.
"As Dave would later say, to Brandon, well what I understand here, a thousand feet underwater and with no link to the surface. Said is just about the most dangerous place on the planet, if there's a problem, I need to know, right now, Commander." he said and she started shaking violently, as she saw the stern looks at her, realizing as a flyboy. A gate traveler, she was not well equipped to handle, in being underwater for days on end.
"But we're 145 fathoms down, and currently there is a blizzard going on upstairs, in your department, and it got more dangerous. As, you're the resident schizophrenic on board, one we're all waiting to flip out and crack up. I decided to give you a chance and then told David about your mental history here. Just who the hell are you kidding, when are you going to get over that?!" he asked and she went white and they nodded.
'That's the facts, you promised to watch out for me and you didn't, you think Eric said something. He didn't, you think that the cupboards are empty, when they're full..., clinically, is we would classify that as a psychotic break, alright." he said and she said it quickly then to this. "I'm not crazy, Daniel. What're you gonna do? Write me a prescription? Just get rid of me, well, it's not that convenient down here, Daniel."
"Okay, I am not psychotic." she snapped at him then, feeling her frustration growing by the minute then, now realizing Daniel went back to the realization here. That he couldn't count on her for anything anymore now, couldn't trust her not to have his back, without thinking about herself then. "How about a mini-psychotic break." he said, walking around the table, while Alexander was standing, ready to catch him if necessary then, with his ankle healing.
"That's not fair." she said and he snapped it out. "Sam!" he said and she said it shakily and he read it out. "What?" she said and he nodded. "Sam, I'm down there, my cord blacked out here, I can't breathe, I'm hyperventilating, the man saved me!" he said and she said it quickly. "But I..." she started to say and Daniel snapped it off, as he exchanged looks with Walker, who nodded in agreement, as Barnes, Alexander and Parker crossed their arms.
And as he said it sternly then, as he read out his entire annoyance of this. 'Yeah little brother finally had enough of this crap, her holding on to this.' they heard with a stern tone, and knew that was Parker's mental voice thought to this. "Wait a minute, now you want me to believe that the man set me up, why, this isn't 'Alice in Wonderland'. Remember 'just you and me babe'?" he said, as he moved around table as he walked up to her then.
As he went further, having had enough of her insulting his friends, trying to claim everything as his fault, that he wasn't strong enough. And this sabotage attempt, to him, said the very last straw. "The only one strong enough right now here, is me, but think it over Captain, would I throw you to the wolves to keep going, would I lie right to your face. In saying I didn't know where your husband is but I do know, knowing I get caught?"
"And I'm facing being arrested and tried for obstruction of justice." he said and she started shaking in fear, realizing that was it then finally as he went further. "Would I try to throw you up in my place, to free myself from this connection, knowing damn well. When you find out what really happened I'm facing being arrested for attempted murder, that is it unrealistic to think here that at this point, you are a danger."
"To yourself, you are a danger to all of us..., that your misguided anger towards me. For something not my fault, but your own commander, who's still in that psychiatric hospital right now, for something. That I don't know, happened 3 years ago, because his incompetence is so distorted in his head, that your own. Is so distorted in your head, just because I never told you, when that trap was meant for him, not for you."
"When it was that happened 3.5 years ago, after I left to get that back pay off 2 years ago, it's all out of sight, out of mind here, in my instructions here. In watching out for the key sentence, and yet you think I'm just being overly cautious, but the truth is. Unlike you I did college frat parties repeatedly, preventing a date rape, I don't know now how many times, it's been 16 years at the moment, since I got out of college."
"That this is so distorted in your head, like a drug here, you just can't let it go, because I never was there, that why should you. In truth, be there for me, that's what it comes down, revenge, pure and simple, you blame me. I was out there, you almost got me killed, the man tried to save my life, you now want me to disbelieve Eric?!" he said and she said it in frustration, finally admitting it then to him, wishing she listened to him.
And sooner, and yet her own pride just destroyed her life. 'There we go, he latched onto me, since we met and to him, why believe anything she says, after she lied to him. And one too many times, Aramis was never his fault, she should have the common sense. Just to know better, then to be drinking on duty, and the key sentence too.' they heard sternly in Jackson's mental voice to that and Hoffman nodded sternly to that response.
"Yes!, yes I want you to disbelieve Eric, I want you to look at me and believe me here, for one time, Daniel, don't you...? Just look at me, Daniel! Am I telling you the truth?" she said and he said it firmly, knowing everything Daniel and the quintet had gone through together. Nothing would ever be the same again, her or them and Teal'C, it would always be them. "You weren't there, Sam." he said in response firmly and she nodded firmly then.
In knowing she lost him to them, as the quartet crossed their arms. 'Here it comes, the tone that sounds like a threat to us, but she's not a deepsea diver, she has no idea what. In truth, she's doing and this next attempt, out of crazed jealousy, it could be me, Ted or Karen and it's enough to put her behind bars, if she attacks one of us now. Just to break him, if she had gone in there.' they heard then, as they heard a jealous tone then.
"You want to believe Eric, Daniel, then that's fine, because he's done everything but part the sea for you. Since we've been down here, but I'm telling you that he is not telling you the truth." she said and Henderson crossed his arms. "You realize that sounds like a threat, you don't care about anything but yourself, to protect yourselves. You try to have me killed, and put the blame on them, and they catch it, before it kills me."
"Now here, this is not about Eric, okay, it never was, this is about you and me, it always was isn't it, you lied to me. And because you followed that bastard, you ignored the rules, that it, you never listen to me anyway. Continue to follow him, all the while treating me like crap, why should I put up with it. That I have a life here now, my place is with the team, Sarah, her parents, this is where I belong now."
"As Frank said, I'm not putting up with your crap forever, just because you can't admit your way is not the only way here now. But I'm not going anywhere, and you just committed a felony here." Daniel said and she looked at him then carefully. "You hate the fact that I'm getting us more then ever, all without stealing, by following their rules. But the cloning machines, the fleet, it's close to being ready now, more naquada now."
"To create it, in your version of the fleet, medicine to keep us strong and healthy, that why should I go back, we're bringing in everything but weapons right now. Technology to make the world a better place, shouldn't you be happy about that exactly. Or is it only your own safety that matters, instead of the safety of the entire planet." He said and she said it slowly, realizing Daniel had changed completely now then.
And into a completely different person at that. "He didn't tell you what's inside The Sphere, did he." she said and turned to Jackson. "You didn't tell him, did you? You didn't tell him what's inside the Sphere, did you?" she said and Walker repeated the remark as he said it sternly then. "And how would you know that, Sam?" he asked her then and Daniel froze and looked at her. "Sam, did you go inside The Sphere?" he asked and ended it then.
"Even if we did, we had the right mind, not to abuse the power, the way the NID did, Carter, as such right now, is this is not about us, it's about you. In fact it's always been about you, claim you're stronger then a civilian, and yet you ignore it. In the most basic guidelines, and get slapped with the penalty, all because. It's you never exercise, in common sense, you know the brass said no drinking on duty right now."
"But you're just not equipped to handle being underwater, or out in space, a spaceship for days on end, you need to be strong, both physically and mentally. He spent the last year training in the rigors of being in both, both physically. And mentally and mastered it, but look at you, 2 weeks, and you crack right now." Parker said sternly to her then and she swallowed hard at that remark, realizing they all mastered the power already.
"Did you go in there or not, as with your frame of mind, you're dangerous to yourself, and to us?!" Walker said and she swallowed hard, as Henderson stepped forward and injected the sternest tone possible. With a patient that was beyond the point of desperation, acting like a beyond violent and dangerous person, in military officers. "You expect me to not take that earlier tone seriously, that attack one of us to break him, so he goes back."
"That what we have here, after that stunt, and the squid attack is the actions of a violent, driven to the brink of desperation, act.
