Chapter 62:

Marian Lilley, District Two, 18

Victor of the 137th Hunger Games

Marian made a promise to the Gamemakers, a promise she has every intention of keeping, and now the time has come to go through on it. They've presented her with the perfect opportunity to eliminate the other careers with the feast announcement and she is so ready for it. By the time this is over, she'll be the last career standing and have a clear path to victory.

"It's almost time," Tiv says, glancing up at the blazing sun. Marian looks up, squinting her eyes, but yes, her ally is right. It's almost time for the feast to start and for Marian to make her move. When she looks back at Tiv, the girl from One is twirling a crystal arrow in her hand, bow resting on her lap, and an excitement in her eyes. "I'm so ready to take down the boys."

"It's a great plan," Marian comments, keeping to herself the rest of the plan that Tiv doesn't know about. Part of her is almost a little sad that their time together in the arena is drawing to a close, but then she just reminds herself that Tiv is one of her biggest threats. She just can't be allowed to live past the feast if Marian is going to be victor. But she's going to use her one last time to make sure Two doesn't get upset at her killing her District partner. "You'll take out Kaz with your bow and I'll get Abel, then boom, no more career boys left."

Tiv picks up her bow, pretending to aim at a fictional Kaz. "He doesn't stand a chance," Tiv says, letting out a laugh as she sets her bow back on her lap. She turns back to Marian, a lazy grin on her face. "And then you and I will feast on whatever we want."

Marian just smiles back at that, knowing if things go to her plan, Tiv won't be feasting on anything. Tiv doesn't seem to notice as she turns back to the question they've been pondering all morning. "I'm still curious how they're going to get us there."

Marian gives a shrug in response, running a finger over the bone handle of her morningstar, just waiting to use it… "I'm sure Lisia has a plan."

Tiv keeps chatting away as Marian gives short remarks, seemingly not aware at all that Marian has an ulterior motive for the feast. Oh Tiv…so trusting. It will be her downfall. If she's really expecting Marian to be honorable and fight her in the finale, she has another thing coming. Who cares about honor when it's a matter of life or death?

Fanfare shuts Tiv up and they stand up, ready for the feast to begin. "You ready?" Marian asks her, aware that a lot of her plan hinges on Tiv doing her part.

Tiv nods her head and gives a sassy flip of her hair over her shoulder. "No need to worry about me, I'll take out your District partner while you get your easy kill," she says with a wink before they both jump at the sound of stone crashing around them.

They spin around, looking for the source, and very easily find there answer at the sight of eleven colorful dragons circling the air above them. "Well damn," Marian mutters to herself, not having expected this to be how the Gamemakers took them to the finale. The dragons start to fly towards specific targets, a gleaming red and white one and a green and black one heading their way. She turns to Tiv as they get buffeted by the air as the dragons slow above them, finding her ally looking excited at the prospect of flying. "See you there," she tells her as her dragon picks her up, talons carefully clutching her shoulders to not harm her as it begins flying to the cornucopia. Tiv lets out a cheer of excitement when her dragon picks her up, but Marian focuses ahead, clutching her weapon tightly in her hands. This is it, the moment she's been waiting for. She is going to establish herself as the best career and then head towards victory.

The dragons all set them down around the cornucopia and Marian's feet are frozen in place as soon as she's set down on the pedestal, stopping her or anyone else from getting a head start. She looks around as the others arrive, finding Kaz and Abel halfway around the circle of pedestals in either direction from her, and Tiv directly across from her. Alright, she has a bit of running to do. She adjusts her grip on her weapon and braces herself to start running, and when the gong starts, she springs off her plate.

She sprints past the plentiful food and water, seemingly in the direction of Abel. When he sees her coming, he gives a sloppy swing of a crystal mace that she so easily dodges. She doesn't stick around to see him questioning her actions, watching as Tiv lines up her arrow and releases it. Across the cornucopia, Kaz falls to the ground, arrow sticking out of him, and Marian hefts her morningstar, knowing she can make her move now.

Tiv reaches for another arrow, unaware of Marian until she slams the morningstar into her back, sending her forward to the ground. She rips the weapon out of her back, tearing up her skin and muscle, as Tiv looks up at her with eyes full of betrayal. Yet Marian doesn't feel any guilt for it. It's the Hunger Games. Kill or be killed. Tiv starts reaching for a knife to try and hurt her and Marian shakes her head. "Sorry love, but thanks for taking out Kaz," she tells the girl from One, giving her a shrug. "Did you really think I would let you win over me?"

"Fuck you," Tiv spits out at her as Marian hefts her morningstar for one more swing, feeling no regret as she brings it down on her head, swiftly ending her life.

Thanks for all the help.

Marian finds herself starting to smirk a little as she turns to face the other tributes, knowing she has one more career to take down to secure her victory, and finds him on the ground. A flash of anger goes through her at the thought of someone taking her kill from her, but a laugh nearby draws her focus over to the weird bird kid. When he notices her, he lets out a whistle that's followed by the shriek of the bird mutt. She flinches at the sound, narrowing her eyes in questioning of him, but when she sees the giant bird approaching, she quickly darts into the cornucopia. She knows better than to push her luck against that mutt after what it did to Rodrick. She's staying alive, no matter what. Let the others fight it out now while she stays alive. She eliminated the career pack. Why keep fighting when it's hardly even a fight? She can almost feel the victory in her grasp.

How about that for causing career drama?

Felt a little nostalgic thinking about my stories, then realized Marian was next and she needed to be uploaded asap. Love me my killer queen.

And once again have no idea when I'll post next, I just felt a little chaotic and wanted a random upload *shrugs*.
