Qui-Gon jogged a couple of blocks, well more like ran, to where he'd parked his vehicle. He secretly did so in the event he needed to pick up the children without Ms. Huff knowing he hadn't been jogging the entire way to work. He was a fast runner even without super speed like his daughter, so it didn't take much time. Still, he was relieved to finally be heading home for dinner.

Getting to go home to his wife and their three children and provide for them was the only thing that made him decide to continue putting up with his mean boss.

Although, when he exited his vehicle, he didn't usually expect to trip on a ball. Luckily, he caught himself on the roof of his pod before he could hurt himself. Unluckily, due to his super strength, it left a mark. With a groan, Qui-Gon just went on to close the door, which didn't close due to the dent. He tried again, it didn't close, and then he closed it really hard, accidentally shattering the window in the process.

Qui-Gon began to lose his temper and was about to literally throw the car away, when he caught sight of a child seeing him lifting his pod. Luckily, it was just Ahsoka, walking into the house with her parents.

"Hi, Mr. Jinn." Ahsoka said awkwardly.

"Oh, hello, Ahsoka." Qui-Gon said awkwardly, placing the pod back down.

"Forgot your own strength again?" Plo Koon said.

"Apparently. Another rough day." Qui-Gon sighed. "Now, I have a family waiting for me."

"See you soon," said Ahsoka.

Qui-Gon felt relieved as he walked inside.

"Darling, I'm home." Qui-Gon called.

"Daddy!" exclaimed two little boys, who ran to greet their father.

"There are my boys." Qui-Gon hugged the twins, and was quickly greeted with slobber from a grey and blue Labrador. "Artoo!"

The kids laughed as their dog slobbered all over their dad.

"Alright! Alright. I missed you too."

Qui-Gon scratched behind the dog's ears before greeting his wife and daughter as they were setting the table for dinner.

But as the family sat for dinner, no one wanted to say much. Kara was still adjusting to her new high school, and boys were the last thing on her mind. After heroes were banned, she was devastated that she would never get to graduate to full hero like her father, and she hadn't seen her friend Obi-Wan, formerly known as Wild Whisperer, in years. She lost so many of her friends after the superhero ban, and making friends among the so-called 'normal' folks was far from easy. Even without colorful costumes or saving the day, some showed to have super snobiness, super annoyance, or super jerkiness as their super powers.

Carmine mostly was pushing his food around the plate while Anakin was trying to inhale his bantha steak as it was proving really hard to break.

"Ani, smaller bites. Qui-Gon, can you help the little carnivore cut his meat?"

"Anakin, stop playing with your food." Qui-Gon said, beginning to help Anakin cut his food into smaller pieces.

"Boys," said Shmi. "Is there something you wanted to tell your father about school today?"

The twins knew what their mother was talking about, but they tried to avoid it.

"We dissected a frog," said Anakin awkwardly.

"The twins got sent to the office again," said Shmi, annoyed.

But Qui-Gon wasn't fully paying attention.

"That's nice." he said.

"No, Qui-Gon. That's bad." Shmi scolded.

Qui-Gon quickly looked up.

"Huh?"

"Anakin and Carmine got sent to the office again."

"What happened this time?" Qui-Gon said.

"Nothing!" Anakin insisted.

"It was Greedo's fault!" Carmine exclaimed.

"Anakin got into a fight with this boy who was picking on Carmine," said Shmi. "And probably used his powers."

"No one noticed," said Anakin. "There are plenty of rose bushes in the flower bed."

"You grew a rose bush out in the open and still got away with it?" said Qui-Gon. "Sounds as though you're getting better with your powers."

"Qui-Gon! We are not encouraging this!" Shmi scolded.

"I'm not encouraging him. I'm just saying he is improving. But your mother is right, Anakin. You need to be more careful."

"I was only trying to protect Carmine." Anakin said.

"I have powers too!" Carmine defended. "I don't need a bodyguard!"

"Maybe if you weren't such a scaredy cat."

"Anakin, don't make fun of your brother!" Qui-Gon scolded.

"Honey!" Shmi exclaimed, but too late.

Qui-Gon accidentally cut right through the plate and broke it with his strength. He sighed in frustration.

"Great, first the pod, now I have to replace a plate."

"The pod?" said Shmi. "What happened to the pod?"

"I'm getting a new plate." Qui-Gon said, leaving the table as Artoo tried to sneak some food. "Don't even think about it, Artoo."

He didn't even look behind him.

"Are we sure his power isn't having eyes in the back of his head?" Carmine said.

As Qui-Gon was in the other room, Shmi noticed her stepdaughter seemed quiet today.

"Kara? Is everything okay, Sweetheart?" Shmi asked.

"Nothing to report." Kara said.

"You've hardly touched your food."

"I'm not hungry for meatloaf."

"Well, it is leftover night. We have stew, pasta. What are you hungry for?"

"Getting back at that punk, Casey, I guess." Anakin said.

"Shut up!" Kara said quietly, threatening with her eyes.

For at least the last month since school started, Kara had complaints about this Casey girl who'd been harassing her and threatening her, trying to make her do her homework for her, intentionally spilling food and drinks on her at lunch, and purposely mispronouncing her name to Karla, Carrie, Karen, or Carly. But, Kara secretly used her super speed to get back at Casey many times. Even when the school checked hidden cameras, Kara went way too fast for them to catch her.

"Come on, don't act like you don't wanna teach her a lesson." Anakin said.

"I said shut up, you little planter!" Kara said.

"She totally does."

"Uh... Anakin?" Carmine said, not liking the sight of his big sister angry.

"All of you, don't shout at the table!" Shmi said. "Qui-Gon?"

"Children, listen to your mother." Qui-Gon called from the other room.

Shmi sighed in annoyance. Qui-Gon was a good husband, but lately he seemed to be a little distracted.

"She'd probably eat if we were having Casey for dinner." Anakin mumbled into his cup.

"That's it!" Kara exclaimed, and she tackled her little brother, Carmine running from the table to hide behind his mother.

"Kara! Anakin! Stop it!" Shmi scolded.

Shmi tried to get the two children to stop fighting, but she was no match for two superhero kids when she had no powers of her own. Kara super sped around the table and whacked Anakin in the head until he tripped her with a vine he lassoed around her leg.

"Hey! No plants in the house!" Kara scolded.

"You started it!" Anakin said.

"You started it!" Kara corrected, only to start brawling with her brother again.

That was when Carmine took a big breath and sang loudly at a high note, which made everyone else cover their ears.

"Stop fighting!" said the youngest twin angrily.

"She started it!" Anakin pointed accusingly at his sister, but then started fighting with her again.

Carmine sighed. "Am I the only normal kid in this house?"

Meanwhile, Qui-Gon picked up a new plate, but stopped to look in the newspaper for some new jobs to apply to. He'd applied to at least ten different jobs a day for the last two weeks, and still hadn't heard back from many of them. He hadn't told Shmi about how his boss was picking on him because he didn't want her to worry. She was already busy enough with running her diner and taking care of the kids.

Qui-Gon would've been fine with being a stay-at-home dad; he loved spending time with his children. And anything was better than being under the control of that tyrant Ms. Huff. Frankly, he was surprised she wasn't a super villain in disguise, at least that he was aware of.

With a sigh, Qui-Gon got up and took out a locked box from the closet, and opened it, where inside lay his folded up super suit. He sat and held it against his chest.

Some days, Qui-Gon missed the days he was a great superhero, saving the day, risking his life for people he didn't even know. And no one knew who he was, which allowed him to help people without being judged, not to mention to set an example that one should do things not for credit, but simply because one act of heroism, no matter how small, could make a huge impact.

But, Qui-Gon was smart enough to know there was no going back to those days. Now, it was his job to be a hero to his three beautiful children. And in just a few moments, he would need to be a hero to his wife.

"QUI-GON! It's time to engage!" Shmi shouted from the other room.

Qui-Gon immediately rushed into the other room to see the children fighting and Shmi was helpless to stop them.

"Do something!" Shmi said as Kara and Anakin were brawling, and somehow Carmine fell in, and now Shmi was struggling to separate the lot of them. But Qui-Gon was just standing in disbelief. "Don't just stand there! I need you to... intervene!"

"You want me to intervene? Okay!"

Qui-Gon stomped one foot, and it shook the whole house, and made the kids stop fighting and hide under the table until the shaking stop.

"Well, that worked."

"Next time, Dear. Please don't use your powers." Shmi said.

That was when there was a knock at the door, and the family quickly fixed everything in case in was a civilian without powers.

Anakin went to answer the door, with Qui-Gon coming with him, of course. And it turned out to be their family friend Mace Windu, formerly the hero Weather Man.

"Hey, Mace." Anakin greeted.

"Anakin," said Mace, ruffling the boy's hair.

"How is the weather, old friend?" Qui-Gon chuckled.

"Ha, never heard that one before." Mace said sarcastically.

He wasn't alone either. Plo was there too.

"I'll see you all tonight," said Qui-Gon kissing his wife.

"Where are you going?" Shmi asked.

"It's Wednesday night." Qui-Gon said.

"Bowling with the guys," said Kara.

"Say high to Brenda and Shaak for me," said Shmi, waving goodbye to the guys.

"Will do, Shmi."

"Take care, Mrs. Jinn. You as well, children." Plo said before leaving.

POW!

"Eight pins!" Mace cheered. "Oh yeah. Let's see you beat that."

Qui-Gon picked up a bowling ball as his turn came up, and he got a strike.

"You were saying?" smirked the strongest of the bunch.

"Hey, you're cheating!" Mace said.

It probably helped that Qui-Gon didn't have to worry about any of the balls being too heavy for him to aim and throw them in just the right spot to score a strike. Of course, he threw in a few purposeful gutter balls and missed a few pins on purpose as well so people wouldn't ask questions. The last thing he needed was to become a bowling celebrity and draw attention to his family or his superhero friends. One thing all heroes in hiding needed to avoid at all costs was seeking fame. So jobs such as performing, internet influencing, or becoming famous athletes were off limits. If civilians learned the secret identities of heroes, they would have to erase a lot of memories, or lock the heroes in a government lab or something, hiding them from the rest of the world as though they never existed.

"I believe it is my turn to bowl." Plo said, getting his ball.

Adjusting to civilian life was difficult for all three guys in the beginning. But, they all joined together to avoid temptations. Even a peaceful city like theirs wasn't completely free of crime. Bank robberies, breaking and entering of houses, arson, holo-net scams, you name it. It didn't take giant robots, laser eyes, or mind control to make someone a villain; just a weak, badly influenced mind drawn to feed a greedy, angry soul. Qui-Gon and his friends often felt like they could do something about it; they were superheroes after all, but being so law abiding, they couldn't break the law of being superheroes either, as much as it hurt knowing that these criminals were dangerous, and the police or fire department didn't have superpowers to protect them as they ran towards the danger while others ran out.

Moving on was not easy, but the heroes formerly known as Captain Hardwear, Weather Man, and Resistor now had wives and children to take care of.

Plo Koon married fellow superhero Dr. Healix, and they were very happy with their adopted daughter Ahsoka. Plo was a great teacher at school; very wise, a good listener, and he was very patient too. Any time a student struggled, he was very patient and assisted them in any way he could to help them improve. His wife also got a job as a doctor in the hospital; at least she could continue to save lives and put her medical expertise to good use.

Similiar to Qui-Gon, Mace married a non-super woman named Brenda Monroe, the daughter of the very judge who'd overseen Captain Hardwear's lawsuit. Now, they had two beautiful children. Myra was found to have rock and roll guitar related powers, to her mother's shock. It wasn't easy when Mace worked up the nerve to tell Brenda he was a superhero. They had a son too, but Kade was adopted, and he didn't have any superpowers like his sister or father. But Myra was a bit of a rebel, and wanted to be a rock star, which her parents tried to convince her not to, but to no avail.

Still, deep down, the three heroes missed the old days, but the were more disappointed that the next generation of heroes wasn't allowed to become that. For years, the former heroes tried to figure out a way to convince the government that superheroes weren't a menace, and that the next generation of heroes should be allowed the choice to follow in their parents' footsteps. Their powers made all of them special, extraordinary even, but the fact that the law forbid them from using them, they might as well outlaw being born a particular species, having a disability, or being born a girl in a family of mostly males. Basically, outlawing characteristics beyond all living beings' control.

After a little bowling, naturally Qui-Gon and his friends needed a bite and a drink. And as he looked into his wallet for some cash, he also saw a very special photo he always kept in there. It was an old family photo he'd taken for Life Day when the twins were tiny babies; it'd been their very first Life Day, and Qui-Gon kept that picture to always remind him that Kara, Anakin, Carmine, and Shmi were the most important things in his life.

The law may have stopped these heroes from saving the day and fighting crime in colorful costumes, but there was one thing they could never outlaw them from doing: loving their families. But to fight crime, they would give almost anything if they could be superheroes just one more time, and that their children could fight even one crime with them just for one day instead of waiting for Halloween to dress up as heroes.

Later that night, Qui-Gon entered his home quietly after a long, fun night of bowling with the guys. It was nearly midnight when he got back, and the children were all asleep.

Qui-Gon quietly peered into the children's bedrooms as they were peacefully asleep. He quietly entered and gave Kara a kiss goodnight. Then he went to the twins' room. Anakin and Carmine shared a room, and Artoo slept on Anakin's bed, while Carmine cuddled up with his stuffed bunny rabbit. Of course, the boys' father would never neglect to give them each a kiss goodnight before joining his wife in bed.

"I was beginning to think you weren't going to be back," said Shmi tiredly.

"I would run through fire to be able to come home to you, my dear." Qui-Gon said, kissing his wife's lips.

"Did you have a good time?"

"Yes, we did. A very exciting night."

"I'm glad you're doing better living the civilian life, Dear. I can only imagine how difficult it was in the beginning."

"Of course. But I must confess, I do miss the glory days, and I feel sad the children won't have the choice to use their powers to be heroes."

"You come from a very different world than I, Qui-Gon. But many civilians do great things without using superpowers. And you and the children can do that too. You already do so well at the gym, helping make the galaxy a healthier place."

Qui-Gon sighed. Shmi was right that he made other people feel healthy, but he wasn't sure how much more of his own health could take the unhealthy treatment from his boss.
