JC silently took notes on the science lesson they were having that day, Jack, whom JC was designated to sit next to due to alphabetical name order, corrected him on one of the notes he had written
'wow, 3 days ago, I would've thought that he was annoying and off-putting, but he's really helpful with the subject topics I didn't learn at my previous schools'
he smiled at Jack after nodding in thanks before resuming taking notes, during a short period of a break in topic, JC pulled out out a wide notebook and looked over the details within, the notes were for the "Powered Warrior Beetron" idea he had the first night he spent with Jack and Legoshi, he glanced over towards Legoshi, who was sitting next to a female chicken who looked like she had an air of pride to her, he turned back the notes he made, just before the last bell of the day rang, Jack stretched a bit
"well, that was the last lesson of the day" he said, looking at JC, who watched Legoshi pack up his gear and leave "bet your wondering where he goes after class?"
"yeah, I do" JC replied, looking back at jack as he packed up his gear "I'm guessing he goes to be with a female friend" this was met by a chuckle from Jack
"nah, Legoshi? He's too awkward around girls, in fact, for 17 years, he's never had a girlfriend" Jack replied "he actually participates in drama club"
"drama club? Like in theatre and that?"
"yup, he works with the props and lighting for the performances" Jack said, standing "he's been in that club 4 years this year"
"wow, quite the history" JC replied as the 2 of them exited the lecture hall, JC spying a poster for a performance "Adler, right?"
"yeah, every year, the drama club puts on a performance of this very story" Jack explained "in fact, it's quite famous, you should go see it"
"maybe I will" JC said "but for now, I'll go for a walk"
"that's fine, I need to head to the library anyway" Jack said as he headed one way, and JC headed in another direction, heading towards the club buildings.
'it's funny how I stumbled upon the buildings by accident, I was heading to see how the reconstruction of the cabin was going, getting curious about one of the warehouses there, and then seeing that they're club rooms, I'm glad that curiosity is part of my base nature'
Meanwhile, Jack had pulled off a book entitled "Species of our World and their Traits" he took it over to a study table and flicked through it, looking for a particular species
"hmm, not under carnivore" he muttered as he flicked through more pages "not under herbivore either, but then again, he does fit under both categories if his diet is to be believed" he flicked into the omnivore section and turned a few pages, coming to the information he was looking for, he gave a look of shock, the more he read, the more his heart raced and the more sweat appeared on his head, he closed the book quickly and panted 'all that information, and we have one of them living in our dorm right now' he thought with worry, checking the book out and rushing out to get back to the dorm.
JC watched as an anteater, a peafowl and a zebra entered building 3, he slowly approached the building and looked at the signs on and around the door, "Drama Club" read the text on the door, the text on the sign to the left of it read "No Video Recording Without Permission" JC quietly pushed the door open and headed in, finding himself in a corridor with 3 doors and a set of double doors, he noticed signs over the 2 closest doors "boys changing rooms" and "girls changing rooms" JC walked past them and paused near the double doors, hearing some activity behind them, he carefully pushed the door open, spying several more animals within, including a large brown bear speaking with an alpaca, a leopard, or was it a cheetah, leading a dance troupe including a goat, a flamingo and a lemur, he spotted a tiger, a panther, an eagle and a mongoose conversing near the stage, and on the stage he spotted a red dear practising some swordplay, JC stepped inside to watch the display,
"can I help you" came a voice to his right that caused JC to jump a bit from the shock, the speaker was an older looking pelican "oh, I'm sorry to startle you young man, just curious about why you're here"
"w-well, I was curious about the drama club I heard Legoshi mentioning" JC said, trying to reduce his heart-rate after the scare "so I came here to see what was up" he added with an awkward chuckle before a defeated sigh "was I not meant to come in here"
"so, your the new creature that I've heard about" came a voice that oozed personality with a hint of pride, JC looked to the speaker, seeing that it was the red deer he was watching, he glanced around and noticed that everyone in the room was eyeing him, making him a bit uncomfortable, the deer noticed and glanced back "everyone, your making him feel unwelcome with your stares, I can tell he's not used to this, so please, back to your routines" the others starting doing so "sorry about that, name's Louis" he added, holding out his hand to shake, JC took it and slowly shook "I'm guessing that your JC"
"er yeah…..h-how did-"
"Legoshi talks about you often, and I can tell from what he said, he wasn't exaggerating, you both are alike, personality-wise" Louis said, sounding like he was analysing him with a hint of condescension,
"does he?" JC questioned as he looked around, spotting Legoshi up on a raised section, working on the spotlights
"yes, nothing negative, I assure you" Louis replied, also looking up at Legoshi "but he does praise your sketching ability"
'dammit Legoshi, what haven't you told everyone here about me? but then, he might've told one of them and someone overheard and asked him about it, giving him a full reason to tell others'
"thanks I guess" JC said
"so this is the new guy everyone is talking about" said the tiger as he approached "doesn't look like much"
"leave him alone Bill" Louis said calmly "just because he's different, doesn't mean you get to look down on him"
"ha, please" said the mongoose "from what I've heard, his kind needs weapons to cause any sort of damage, so we have a right to look down on him"
"but with your simple minds, the only one who can effectively down on me is that brown bear in the back, only because I'm not tall enough to see over him, which is a plus in my book"
JC's comment caused the whole room to go quiet,
"care repeating that" Bill demanded, grabbing JC's shoulders roughly, JC stared him back in the eye, showing no fear or aggression, the 2 of them stared off with Bill soon faltering and stepping back "how…..how'd you do that?"
"I've dealt with bullies before" JC replied grabbing one of his shoulders "so I know how to resolve a direct confrontation before it gets physical" he winced a bit, feeling over his shoulder, finding a small sliver of blood "and I think you need to get your claws dulled a bit, your strong enough and they're sharp enough for them to cut through armadillo plating, which I hope you wont do by the way" he quickly added before leaving the room, everyone stunned, a second after leaving, the pelican came out, causing JC to look back at them
"I'm so sorry about that, but that's just how bill is" he said
"don't worry about it, I've suffered worse then this" JC turned back to the main door and walked out

Some time passed before Legoshi walked out, finding JC waiting for him
"JC? Man, I'm sorry, I should've stepped in and done something but-"
"no Legoshi" JC said, interrupting him "it's fine, if you did, then you'd probably be in as much trouble" he sighed gently "i shouldn't have come" he silently looked away, but looked back at Legoshi as he felt his hand on his shoulder
"shall we get back to the dorm, I bet the guys are waiting for us" he said with a smile that JC returned,
"OK, lets get going then" JC replied as the 2 of them left, not seeing a shadowy figure watching them leave, a little while later, they returned to the dorm, but stopped dead in the door when they saw Jack and the others looking up at them, looking a bit defensive,
"whats going on in here?" Legoshi asked
"why don't you ask JC?" said Durham "his kind is more dangerous then any of us carnivores"
JC looked stunned at this accusation "wait a second" Legoshi interjected "how do you know what his species is capable of?"
"i found this book in the library and inside is all the info about his kind" Jack said, tossing the book over to Legoshi, Legoshi opened the book to the page marked and his eyes widened a bit, JC stared at the information as well as the 5 other stared at them, Legoshi stared at JC with wide eyes, JC looked back before taking the book and opening it to one of the front pages before frowning, closing the book and tossing at Jack in anger who just managed to catch is
"so, your stereotyping me after what happened back then" JC said with venom in his voice, causing Jack and the other guys to bundle to each other "your basing your facts on potentially outdated facts, thanks, thanks a lot, jerks" JC stormed out and slammed the door behind him, the 6 carnivores stared at the door before Legoshi, curious as well, approached and took the book again, opening it up to the page where publication information was listed
"Jack, this book was published back in 1958" Legoshi said, causing Jack to stare, looking a bit guilty, Voss quickly pulled out his phone and checked something
"yup, the information is out of date, according to this, his species hasn't had a record of that form of violence since 1970, and that they're extremely rare, almost to the point of extinction" Jack now looked extra guilty, putting his face into his hands with a groan,
"oh man, I ruined it all, now JC will think I'm speciesist" he said
"and maybe one of you should've checked if the information is up to date before agreeing with it, then that might not have happened" Legoshi added.
JC sat in the common room located on the top floor of the dorm tower, he silently finished sketching one of the characters he came up with for his Beetron concept, he paused as he remembered what Jack had said before sighing
'i guess they were right, they told me that the world would react negatively towards me and my kind, but I guess I should've gotten used to it, although, this is the first time that it's happened for as long as I remember, I guess that it's the first time anyone even looked into that book in years'
JC looked back onto the story notes as Legoshi and Jack silently came up, neither said a word as JC flipped over the pages of the notebook looking for some details, he frowned as he reached the last page of notes,
"i need to think" JC said to himself "i need a word for the feral "enhanced" state of the wolves, I know that there is one, but I can't think what it is"
"lycan" Jack said, causing JC to look at him "the word you're looking for is lycan, or lycanthropy" JC stared at Jack for a bit, causing him to panic slightly before JC turned to a sketch of one of the wolf-like creatures and wrote "lycan basic form"
"thanks Jack" he said with a small smile "this is the way I see you naturally, eager to help your friends, despite the circumstances"
"uh….yeah, about what I said" Jack started to say before JC interrupted him,
"forget it, I overreacted, I guess we're both kinda at fault on that"
"yeah, guess so" Jack chuckled as he approached, seeing the various character vectors "wow, whats all this for?"
"a little project I'm doing in order to make an income" JC said "Legoshi inspired me" Legoshi blinked in confusion
"m-me?" he stuttered "uh, h-how did I inspire you?"
"3 things" JC explained "1 and 3, the beetle you were fascinated with when we met, and the one you're caring for, and 2, the way others react to what you look like rather than who you are" Legoshi blinked at this
"thanks, I guess" he said as JC and Jack chuckled "uh, we should get back to the dorm room, the other guys want to offer their apologies to you as well"
"that wont be necessary" JC said as he gathered his things into his satchel "just as long as none of you jump to any conclusions, then we'll be fine"
"i think I can accept that" Jack replied as the 3 of them returned to room 701 for the night.
The following morning, JC silently ate along with the boys of 701 as they heard female exclamations of joy and admiration, they looked up and saw Louis approaching them,
"JC" he said smoothly as JC stood in response and respect "i wish to personally apologise for the behaviour of the drama club members yesterday, and wish to extend an invitation to come by the club whenever you wish too" JC gently frowned,
"and the catch?" he asked as other students watched on in silence
"no catch" Louis replied "but the drama club might call on you for certain tasks fitted to your skills"
"i understand" JC replied "and thank you for this" Louis gave a small smile
"don't thank me too quickly" he said as he walked away, a few of the girls watching him, JC sat down,
"now don't worry about him too much" Legoshi told him "Louis is like that often" JC nodded gently and returned to his breakfast
'so, Louis wants me to perform tasks for the drama club huh? Very well it'll give me a chance to expand my circle of friends here, but still, why do I get the nagging feeling that things are going to go downhill from here, eh, maybe I'm thinking about that old "downhill from here" quote'
he shrugged gently as he drank the juice he had, preferring it over the milk they served here
'i guess it's just my human nature'
