Edited to fix typos and add/remove some lines
This chapter is structured a bit differently, a bit of a 'Slice of Life' story that has a focus on reactions or glossed over points, all sprinkled with clues as to what was touched upon at the end of the last chapter.
Drama Club Drama and Revelations 1
Sanu stepped back into the drama club, seeing that everyone's eyes were on Bill who was looking around, intimidated,
"Bill, you do realise that as a member of the drama club, you represent us" Louis said calmly as Bill stood there, looking a bit spooked "and acts of aggression like that are not welcome here"
"i know that, but" he sighed hard "what is he? Those eyes freaked me out"
"he's a human" Sanu said "and how would his eyes freak you out like this?"
"they seemed to stare deep into my soul" Bill explained "and then, maybe I was mistaking, but they seemed to start changing colour" Louis frowned gently
"really, what colour were they?"
"eh…...uh, yellow, I think" Bill said, Louis slowly nodded
"Legoshi" he called up "go find JC and see how he is, and take extra note with his eyes" Legoshi silently nodded, climbed down and left the room, Louis looked back at Bill,
"we cannot, however, overlook the fact that you "attacked" another student" Sanu said
"agreed" Louis added "for that, you'll have to help out the backstage crews for the week"
"yeah, I understand" Bill said, heading over to Riz and Tem as Sanu and Louis entered the office,
"you know, it's funny that he'd come here on this day" Sanu said, picking up a clipboard "the adviser scouted JC recently"
"yes, quite the coincidence" Louis said, sitting on one of the chairs "I'll seek him out at breakfast to apologise for Bill's behaviour, and invite him into the club officially, maybe to do minor tasks for us" he held up a picture of the Adler character that JC did for Legoshi to give to Louis "maybe he has potential that not even he can see within himself"
Drama Club Drama and Revelations 2
Legoshi and Jack left the dorm room to go after JC after he stormed out, the other guys looking at each other,
"man, never thought that JC could have a temper like that" Durham said, looking a bit shaken
"i know" Voss said "but then again, wouldn't you act the same way if you were confronted by similar facts without double-checking them first?"
"that's true" Collot admitted "but, did you guys see what appeared next to him?" the others looked at him,
"come on, Collot, you don't expect us to believe that something appeared near him" Durham said,
"no" Miguno said calmly, but scared, the others looked at him "something did appear, a phantom or something, looked like a canine, i-i think"
"wearing some sort of red cloth as makeshift pants, with body art" Voss added
"and a strip of similar cloth around their forehead" finished Durham, sounding terrified now
"but was it real? Or were we having the same fear induced hallucination?" asked Collot
"i don't know, but what I do know is that it only appeared when JC went off at us" Voss said "so, maybe it's like a spiritual guardian?"
"either way, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight because of it" Durham said as Miguno yawned
"i will be, no matter what, I was going all out today" he said, the other guys stared at him "but I think that we should keep all this to ourselves for now, agreed?"
"agreed"
Performance of Hard Drama
Dom silently walked back to the costume storage with JC's outfit, hearing the applause from the curtain call and not catching JC sneaking out as he went, he approached Kibi
"sounds like today was another success, despite the brawl" Kibi said as Dom handed him the costume to hang up,
"i know" Dom replied "if it weren't for Louis, then Bill and Legoshi would've killed each other"
seconds later, the rest of the drama club left the stage, Kibi and Dom taking their costumes as they removed them, Kibi stared at Legoshi who seemed to be haunted by something
"where is JC?" Louis asked as he hobbled in on his crutch "i would've thought that he were to wait at the side stage for us to finish"
"come to think about it" Ellen quickly said "he wasn't there for the curtain call either"
"i know where he is, I'll go get him" Dom said, turning to go,
"no, leave him be" Louis said, causing Dom to look back "JC is having a few issues currently, he'll tell us when the time is right"
"well, whatever the issue, I'll help him out" Kibi declared, a few of the others voicing up in agreement, Louis gave a small smile,
"in the meantime, Bill, Legoshi, meet me at the back entrance, we need to talk about your…..performance" Louis left the room without another word.
Encounters and Outings
Juno just stared at the door,
"did….did I do something wrong?" she questioned
"no, you didn't" Louis said, approaching her "I'm guessing that this is the first time he has these feelings"
"what feelings?" Juno asked, Louis looked at her
"just keep an eye on him, and the answer will come to you" he said "but if you'll excuse me, I'll need to go check on him" he casually walked out the door, Juno thought for a moment,
'it's as if he wanted to get away from me, but why would he want to do that? it's not like we've met before, I don't think, wait, I have'
Juno walked down the corridor, glancing at the various doors, looking for her next class, as she rounded a corner, she ran into someone and fell back,
"hey, watch where you're going" she snapped,
"s-sorry miss" JC said awkwardly as he held a hand out to help her up, she stared at it before standing on her on,
"next time, just watch it, your not the only one here" she declared and walked off
'oh, dammit, I must've blown it, he was trying to be nice and I went off at him, and maybe this is his way of being polite to someone who went off at him for an accident, by keeping his distance'
Juno snapped out of her thoughts as Sheila handed her the club uniform,
"you alright there freshie? You zoned out for a bit"
"uh, I-I'm fine, just a few things on my mind"
"OK" Sheila returned to the dance group to resume practice, Juno stared at the uniform, then at the door again
'i need to make it up to him somehow, but how?'
Juno gently shook her head and left the room to change.
Confessions and Comforts
Harmony silently read a book in the library, brushing up her knowledge of various beast anatomy, her tufted ears twitching as she heard various conversations around her, all about the same subject
"i see that you haven't changed your lifestyle" Harmony lowered her book and looked up at Sheila as she took a seat next to her "i thought you would've after being here a while"
"i guess the pleasure that the guys have when we do it is, honestly, all I need to be happy" Harmony replied "so whats all this gossip I've been hearing all morning?"
"apparently, a male grey wolf and a female dwarf rabbit from here spent the night together away from the school" Sheila replied, Harmony stared for a moment, thinking about last night,
"any other details then that?" she questioned
"well, the wolf was that Legoshi from the drama club, and the dwarf rabbit is the promiscuous one from the gardening club" Harmony stared silently, remembering the encounter with JC the previous night "oh yeah, apparently, that human, JC, left to find them, and came back with them, but that part isn't as spicy"
"i see" Harmony said, closing the book and putting it back on the shelf "i saw him last night, I helped him to find them, I thought he was a potential client, I didn't think he was a student here"
"you think he'd recognise you if he saw you here?" Sheila questioned
"I'm not sure" Harmony said "but it's possible" she then winced a bit and yawned "i should go have a quick nap back at the dorm, I was up all night"
"OK, but don't sleep all day, it'll screw up your schedule" Sheila called out as Harmony walked away, descending the stairs to head back to the dorms, pausing when she saw JC walking in the corridor ahead, she ran over to catch up with him, but then paused as she rounded the corner, seeing him in front of lecture room 2, she lent against the wall out of sight as he heard him talking with Els a short moment later
'he sounds so vulnerable, nothing like the way he sounded last night, it's as if he's a completely different being, the way he cries, it sounds like he had a lot of emotional suppression when it comes to what happened'
Harmony peeked back around, seeing JC approaching where she was, she stepped back a bit and casually walked past him as if she was just getting there, her ears twitched as he paused and looked at her as they passed before he resumed walking, hearing him muttering to himself
"was that, nah, it couldn't be, could it?"
Haunting of Cherryton
Six-Eyes gently chuckled to herself as she slithered around within Lecture room 2, approaching the vent leading to the corridor outside
'it's amusing how easy it is to scare students while I seek out the killer, but I have to confess, I do need help in my investigation, that fascinating grey wolf from the drama club, with his demon-possessed aggression, and focus on that promiscuous dwarf rabbit, he might be just what I need to locate the killer'
her tongue flickered a bit,
'however, there is another student who fascinates me just as much, that human, his unique look hides something deeper, so deep that I doubt that even he knows it, his body might have the base structure of a primate, but his scent and hidden aggression, they're something else, the aggression is close to that of the grey wolf, but he holds back with getting physical, and then there's the scent'
her tongue flickered again
'yes, the scent is a mix of something distant, and familiar, something like a marsupial, although I cannot place which, mm, maybe if I taste his scent again I can pin it properly, mm, it's almost like I'm able to taste it now, hm?'
she slithered over to the door and peeked out, seeing JC outside them, his eyes closed, but looking as though he was expecting her
'oh, he is here, mm, the scent, it overwhelms my senses, but still, I cannot tell which marsupial scent he has on him'
she slithered out, the two talking, JC correctly deducting that she was a rattlesnake, but she grinned gently and slithered away,
'he is quite the logical one, maybe he can help me find the killer, but first, I need to find that grey wolf, and see if he'll help me out with my investigation, if I'm right, he'll be in his dorm by now, but still, that scent he has, I confess, has made me more curious about him, I might need to keep my eye on him for a while longer'
A New Problem
JC silently sketched in his cabin with the windows open and wearing his summer wear, that night had gotten unseasonably warm for autumn as the day went on, he looked up as there was a knock on the door,
"come in" he said, Juno entering, she, also in summer wear
"hey JC" she said "quite warm, isn't it?"
"yeah, I know, and my body has just started getting ready for winter" JC said, causing Juno to giggle a bit "I'm guessing that you wish to stay the night?"
"yeah, if it's no trouble"
"no trouble at all" JC said "i was about to turn in anyway" Juno gave him a warm smile
"maybe, we can sleep in just our underwear" she suggested with a blush "i-it's a bit too warm for s-sleepwear"
"i don't mind Juno" JC said, removing his top to expose his average-built body "just as long as your comfortable" he added before turning to remove his pants
"i am, thanks" Juno replied, slightly turning to start removing her clothing, before doing a double take, seeing a stripe-like pattern going down his back, he glanced back and noticed her staring
"are my birthmarks making you uncomfortable?" JC asked
"n-no, they…..they make you look…...unique" Juno said, trying to come up with a way to compliment them, she smiled a bit before stripping down to her bra and panties, the 2 laid down on the bed and held each other for a while, Juno gently running a finger over the marks on his back, as if trying to figure out how birthmarks could turn out like these stripes.
Gon, a tiger and headmaster for Cherryton silently looked over the candidates for the next Beastar, he sighed as he looked at Louis' profile, before scrolling down to Juno's, before he could scroll down any more, the nurse came in,
"sorry to interrupt you sir" she said, carrying a folder "but I think you should see this"
"what is it?" Gon questioned as she handed him a folder with JC's name on it,
"the day before, JC came in and asked for his blood to be sent away to be examined" the nurse explained "the DNA centre contacted me this morning with the results" she handed him the folder which he opened and stared at the contents,
"impossible, these creatures have been extinct for nearly 90 years" Gon said "and he has 12.5% of their DNA? Are you sure the centre hasn't made a mistake?"
"i questioned them about it as well" the nurse explained "but they told me that they did the test 5 times with different equipment and still had the same results, still saying that JC had 87.5% human DNA, and the remaining 12.5% is…..well" Gon stared at her,
"but how, they were one of the few species that condoned inter-species relationships and hybrids"
"maybe his great-grandparent was desperate and decided to mate with a human, just to preserve a shred of their DNA"
Gon stared at the paper more as Kawa came in,
"sorry if I'm intruding, but JC's foster parents are requesting to see you about pulling JC out of Cherryton" she said, Gon staring silently,
"did they say why?" he asked,
"no sir, they said that they'll only discuss why face-to-face" Kawa explained, Gon frowned and looked down at the folder, then back at the computer screen, seeing JC's name as a candidate for Beastar,
"acknowledge the appointment, then "accidentally" schedule an appointment with JC in regards to this" Gon said, tapping the now closed folder, Kawa nodded and left the room "i smell something fishy going on with JC's foster parents, maybe I'm over thinking it, I just hope I'm wrong"
