Late Valentines Special Monster Battle: Godzilla vs. Mothra -Alternate Canon-

Keep reading for a sneakpeak of the War!

Sorry it was so short, I had school.

Goji stomped down the halls of Hogwarts.

It was his seventh and final year in the school, and that fact was making him increasingly agitated. Students all around him were changing, and everything happens so fast. He just couldn't cope, not after the pain of his transformation and the emotional scar of hearing the Harrow Screech.

Space's last words by the lake haunt him to this day.

No, the war is over. And how could he forget his brother by blood? There are just too many things in his mind now.

He hastily ducked his head as he passed a Hufflepuff couple snogging beside the window, and as he lifted his head he had to cover his ears to prevent hearing what Hok was saying to Ferrah. It was probably something particularly morally negative, for the small Ravenclaw was answered quite immediately by a sound slap across the face.

As he reached the end of the hall, Goji wanted nothing more than to hide in a broom closet to escape all the love in Hogwarts.

It was Valentines Day, for goodness sake! He should be finding love, not running away from it!

That thought only made his feelings worse, and an all-too-familiar clap on his back did not help matters much.

"Mothra! The hell are you doing here?!" He bit his tongue to resist the urge to hit the girl with his fist.

"Call me Mosura. Also," She responded, glaring at the taller male. "You still haven't found a girl for your date to Hogsmeade! Most students have left already."

"What do you care? We've been at each other's throats since we first met." Goji snorted, turning on his heel and letting his robes flow dramatically behind him.

"I care for everyone who has a good heart! And you, I saw you, ready to risk your life for everybody on Earth." Mosura's voice decreased with every word. "Your brother. I understand."

Goji turned his head and stared at her for such a long time his eyes watered.

"Battra didn't die."

"Yes, but he can't bridge dimensions!" Mosura cried earnestly. "Space was the key to making defeating Void Ghidorah possible, and that's something we should remember him for!"

Goji felt hatred bubbling up his throat, and atomic power threatened to spew. Sure, it was nothing compared to what he could do in his kaiju form, and what he could produce from his wand, but it could still burn a hole through the floor if he was feeling particularly aggravated.

"You saw the shards! You felt the energy!"

Mosura turned pale, and opened her mouth to speak, but was cut off instantly.

"And don't go telling me Dumbledore this, Dumbledore that, because pheonix or not, guess what, he died to Avada Kedavra. I don't see him coming back or do anything."

Goji stormed the rest of the way around the corner, and upon turning right, he risked a glance at Mosura.

The girl was still standing with her mouth agape, clearly shocked by what she had just heard.

Yes, she was one of the six kaiju who were present at Space's death, and yes, she kept silent throughout the explosion, but it was her and her alone who truly felt the impact of Space's energy in the Spiritual Realm. The rest of them were stunned, immobilized, and until the shining cosmic dust cleared the gigantic form of their enemy, now grounded in the third dimension, reappeared. Destoroyah let out a cry of pure hatred and spread his wings, taking to the sky and charging his Micro Oxygen Beam. Rodan followed suite, flying headfirst at Void Ghidorah while his body gathered Inferno Heat. Biollante, Mosura, and Kiyru went next, without hesitation, each preparing their own arsenal. But he…

Goji stopped in the middle of his tracks.

He was right in front of the broom storage for Flying lessons.

Rage boiled inside of him, surpassing his numbing grief.

He yanked open the doors to the cabinet and glared at the two Slytherins inside, who stopped in the middle of their tracks.

"G-G-Godzilla, sir! W-what a strange time to check on us!" Manda faked cowardice.

"I assumed you were more intelligent than this. I guess I was wrong." Goji sneered and reached under his robes for his wand.

"Hey! We're only jinxing brooms!" Tiamat shouted, hotly. "It's not like we thought hiding in a broom cupboard is an ideal date for Valentines!"

Goji raised an eyebrow, bemused in spite of himself.

"Did you really think that?" Manda half-whispered, nervously glancing between his second friend and the King of the Monsters.

"Well, maybe it'll be less confusing if you stop hanging around her so much!"

"At least we're better than you and Featherdew." It was Tiamat's turn to shift the conversation to her favor.

"What?!" Confusion and raw anger swirled like a wave inside Goji's chest. What was she talking about?

"You guys fight all the time, how are we supposed to know if it's 'cause you had a relationship or not?"

Tiamat was annoyingly correct. They do get into a lot of unneeded conflict. But Goji always thought that was because they were born to be adversaries.

"Well, if you don't think of her as a girlfriend, why don't you prove it to all of us? Like, prove with a duel somewhere outside the school grounds?" Manda offered nonchalantly.

Both Tiamat and Goji turned to look at him.

"What?" He asked, thoroughly confused. Then realization dawned on him. The horror must be written on his face because the other two started smirking, then laughing before he could muster, "Oh no."

"Manda, that's brilliant! Forget I blasted you in your face two months ago, I owe you one." Goji clapped the horror-stricken Slytherin on the back.

"Welp, what are you waiting for, let's go find a place. Forget about Manda, he's just traumatized after he saw what Ghidorah did." Tiamat was already pelting ahead towards the school gates, looking over her shoulder once in a while.

Yes, Goji thought, a fight. To settle my status once and for all, and rub it in that stupid girl's face. I need to get used to Space not reading my mind.

He set off after Tiamat, feeling very good about himself.

Later that day

The sun was setting low as the small gathering of Hogwarts seventh-years trekked towards their destination, a sandy area full of rocky ridges, built near a wide body of water, perfect for a titan rematch.

Goji was in the lead, followed by Rodey and Tiamat. After a lot of debate Manda decided not to come, but only grudgingly agreed to stay in the library after Caesar pointed out he was taking care of Ritoru (writer's note: for those of you who don't know, LittleGodzilla; in this story he's Goji's adoptive little brother).

After that was Zilla Jr., who came for a dramatic face-off, and Batora, who showed up just to be annoying. Funnily though, no-one else found Batora's constant snarky comments about Goji infuriating.

Finally, at the back was Mosura, who by the look on her face, suggested someone dropped a hint about what the others were up to.

They talked all the way, laughs and chuckles sometimes intermixed within.

Strange thing, time. Before they knew it they were at their destination.

Rodey stretched and yawned as the last rays of daylight slunk off into the horizon. He just told Mosura what is going to happen and she yelped, streaking off towards a leering cave behind them.

Every time she magnamorphasizes, she has to spin a cocoon, unlike most others.

"Welp, might as well rest here." He said.

Goji squinted at the far body of water.

It was a dark, sprawling mass encircled by a ring of jagged rocks.

He had been anticipating and plotting for this match, but something was off: why was he suddenly so reluctant? So melancholy? So unwilling to move? Was it the silky night air that glued him to the spot?

"Well, if you want to kick moth butt, you'd better get started." Zilla Jr. pat Goji on the back, almost startling him.

As is driven by a motor, he nodded numbly and set off towards the lake, picking up speed as he went closer. Mosura left minutes ago; he might still get a head start.

As he scaled the tallest ridge overlooking the lake Goji ran over his thoughts.

He hated being human.

The reason was most likely that his emotions are so hard to control. When he was a kaiju all he felt mostly was anger, or frustration.

And when he was human he needed to deal with other humans.

He was jealous of how doing so seemed confusingly easy for others of his kind. Mosura was prefect, Zilla Jr. was Head Boy, Rodey was the most popular Quidditch captain of ten years.

Everyone else seemed to be perfect in both kaiju and human.

Why couldn't he, a pureblood even, be so, too?

Several rocks chipped off from under Goji's feet and plummeted towards the dark expanse below. He found himself stared at the lake again, courage evaporated.

But he new, soon, things will all be easier.

He will not lose control, he promised himself with grim satisfaction, and even if he did, he had friends this time, friends to take on him and make sure he doesn't Unleash himself too much.

Goji leaned forwards.

In a few moments, everything will be so much easier.

He jumped.

Or rather, fell.

He tumbled around spectacularly for a few seconds and landed with a splash into the crutches of icy depths.

The effect was almost immediate, having done this countless times before, twice in absolute desperation.

Goji felt air travel out of his lungs in bubbles, his chest being compressed, his back tearing open as spines tore out. His neck pierced as he grew gills. This was even worse pain than using Gillyweed, but more useful underwater. He felt his canines grow sharper; his claws emerging…

Any second now…

With a mournful howl of pain as the final stage of Goji's magnamorphosis occurred, the King of the Monsters rose from the water, dark against the sky which stars had started to appear.

He had barely opened his eyes when a loud screech filled the air.

Mosura, now literally shining with golden embers, was soaring towards him. Her eyes were like glowing blue lamps, blazing with the power of a true Gaurdian.

She blasted Goji in the face with sticky silk and veered off just in time to avoid his claws, which scratched blindly around before meeting solid rock.

Finally getting rid of the white mess on on his snout, Goji roared and charged his atomic breath.

His spines flashed blue for a brief second before he released a powerful jet of luminescent energy, and hit Mosura square of her underside.

The Queen of the Monsters screeched in shock as she was blasted backwards, and crashed onto all the jagged rocks behind her.

Seeing his opportunity, Godzilla swung his head left and right, dislodging and reducing boulders around Mosura. It worked; before she had time to react, she was buried under a massive pile of rubble.

Her enemy advanced, swimming towards her at full speed and forming a bow wave with his dorsals as he cut through the once-still water.

Msoura was free now, but too late.

With a triumphant sneer, Goji yanked the moth kaiju out of her rock prison and proceeded to smash her onto the flat ground.

Somewhere far away Rodey yelled, "BRILLIANT!" and Battra swore.

This added to Goji's adrenaline and he was scratching and punching Mosura as hard as ever.

Suddenly, a force yanked him off of his opponent. As he registered the golden, sparkling aura around his body, realization hit him just as quick as his face contorted instinctively into a snarl.

A quick motion sent him flying backwards, hitting rock, tree, and boulder as he went.

Mosura's Gravity Display which had been stolen from Space was now being used to tow Godzilla around where there was most sharp objects.

As she dragged her enemy around to induce the most McGonagall-triggering injuries possible, Mosura was also distinctly aware of her energy running low.

Unlike Space (who had a plan for everything and always manages to stow his crystals somewhere illegal that nobody could find and confisticate), Mosura doesn't have an energy farm nor a suitable place to hide while she recharges.

The death of SpaceGodzilla had sent her a world of new abilities and insights she had never even heard of, not even from the Ancient Scrolls. But to these items there bore a cost, and that cost became a burden: the worst possible burden in a battle.

If Mosura hadn't found a way to stock energy, she would eventually become weak enough for Godzilla to defeat. After all, Space had the entire universe and all its dimensions for his disposal, she had only the Earth.

The moth kaiju flew away, heading as high as she could possibly manage. If she recharges in the sky before flying down, Godzilla would have fully regenerated already and would be waiting for her, even stronger than before.

So, no.

She needed a better plan.

Suddenly charging backwards, she pulled into a dive.

Streaks of blue and gold flew from her wings as she took on a new form.

Godzilla pushed himself up, now on his hands and knees. He was panting from exhaustion.

Distantly aware of Mosura coming towards him, he growled and prepared to release his atomic breath again. However, once he registered the stark blue being charging towards him, his eyes widened in shock.

The impact was devastating, Goji felt all the breath being knocked from his chest once again.

An invisible force was pulling at him, blood rushing to one side of his body, and for a brief second he went blind and deaf.

A million knives pierced at the skin of his snout and arms as Mosura accelerated further, and pulled upwards at the last moment.

Sparks and fire erupted from the trail of friction as Godzilla's spines and dorsals were cut. He slid along for a solid ten seconds before coming to a stop at the mercy of a gigantic cliff.

Shaking as he stood up, Goji began charging up his atomic breath. He growled in bliss as he felt the familiar tingling of power it gave.

It started at his tail, and began rising upwards.

High in the sky, Mosura was circling him, apparently unable to decide what move to do next...

The atomic power was reaching his back…

He could feel it climbing…

And then…

Crack!

Wha-what? Where did it go?!

The atomic energy was gone.

To his absolute rage Mosura was now diving toward him, victoriously screeching. Her wings had changed into the four prominent, lightning-shaped alternatives that Goji hatefully remembered as her Lightspeed form.

So that was it all along, huh? You could have traveled back in time to kill me, but instead you didn't. D'you think I wouldn't see that as an insult to my existence?

Unfortunately, before he could raise his claws up to defend himself, a searing pain tore through his body, causing him to emit a shameful blend of a whine and a roar. A blinding flash quickly followed, and a thundering boom echoed after.

It was a thrilling sensation, like being the culprit of a raging thunderstorm that destroyed a town.

He saw Mosura on the ground, wings shattered and burning. There was a fleeting look in her eyes, pleading loss.

Taking no notice and radiating quite literally with power, Goji walked towards her, a blast of nuclear pulse ringing through the air with every step.

The more blasts, the more frail Mosura looked.

This is it, Goji thought. This is when you end and I finally claim myself as the sole ruler of the kaiju!

He was getting closer, four steps…

Three…

Who would be here to stop him…

Two…

Wait.

Doesn't that mean he is destroying an innocent life to establish a position?

The act that defines a destroyer?

Isn't that what he vows to fight, even with the cost of his life?

As much as he hated Mosura, he hated Void Ghidorah and Destoroyah even more, and SpaceGodzilla much more at the peak of their disagreement.

Godzilla huffed at the weak, fragmented figure of Mosura in front of him.

This was a duel, a kaiju duel, not a full-blown one-on-one. He'll have to spare the titan.

He curled his lip in a would-be smirk and growl, and grimaced. It was a long time he stretched them to that extent. He turned to leave, stoping the ground as hard as he could allow, and threw in a prideful tail swing just for extra measure.

He swam back into the lake, reverting back to human form.

His hair slick and wet, he started toward the place where his friends are all waiting (and Batora was cursing, many words Goji never heard of in his entire life) without giving Mosura so much of a second glance.

"Let's go get Cygnus and Deneb." Was all Rodey said after giving Goji a good shake.

"Wha-who?" Tired, that was all he could muster.

"They're probably in the Astronomy tower now, watching the fight without permission. Let's go before the teachers find us!"

"Yeah, let's." Hitching up his shoulders, Goji followed Rodey back towards the school.

He was sure Mosura would forgive him after this.

After all, when has she not?

Maybe, it's not such a bad thing to have a kaiju like that on your side.

But just maybe.
