Chapter 72
***Metro Court***
Carly: "Well, this is certainly a surprise. Haven't see you in a while."
(Jason scratches his face as he spoke)
Jason: "Yeah, sorry. Between the trial and Danny's custody stuff, and other things…"
(They both sit at the bar)
Carly: (smiles) "No worries. What's up?"
Jason: "I have a favor to ask you."
Carly: (happily smiles) "Anything for my best friend."
Jason: "Here's the thing. I am planning on asking Elizabeth to marry me soon. I was kind of hoping to have it here at the Metro Court so we can invite friends and family. The only thing is, I know you and Elizabeth haven't always been friends. Do I need to be concerned about that on your end?"
(Carly waves her hands away and shakes her head)
Carly: "That is completely a thing of the past. I support you and Elizabeth 100%. I would do anything for her and the family that she now shares with you, Jayse. In fact…" (smiles happily) "…Just let me know the date you want to have the proposal on and I'll close the floor for a private party."
Jason: "I'm thinking in a week so I can get it all squared away."
Carly: (nods) "Sounds good."
(Carly slaps her hands and squeals for her best friend)
Carly: "Ooh, I can't wait, Jayse!"
Jason: (chuckles) "Trust me. I can't, either. I'm going to Sonny's office next as he knows a jeweler."
Carly: "Do you know what kind of ring you're going to get?"
Jason: "Yes. I did ask the boys for their opinion. They wanted a heart shaped engagement ring. I am just adding a bit to it."
Carly: (tilts her head) "What were you thinking?"
Jason: "A 3 3/8 heart shaped diamond ring with little diamonds around the heart. There are also diamonds on the band. I described it to Sonny and he said he'd get it done. He loved the description."
(Carly got tears in her eyes that she attempted to wipe)
Jason: "What? You hate it. don't you?"
Carly: "What? No! I'm crying because I'm so happy for you and Elizabeth. You are finally getting your happily ever after."
(Carly and Jason hug)
Jason: "I'll get back to you by tomorrow with the details."
Carly: "Sounds good."
***Sonny's Office***
(Jason goes to his friend as well as boss)
Jason: "Hey, Sonny."
Sonny: "Hey, buddy."
Jason: "Do you still have that jeweler?"
Sonny: (smiles) "You know it."
(Sonny brings out Brick from the back)
Jason: "Hey, Brick."
Brick: (nods) "Hey, what's up, Jason?"
Jason: "Planning a proposal. I need a ring."
Brick: (shakes his head) "Say nothing more. Sonny described the ring that you had in mind. My friend, I believe I have the perfect ring for Elizabeth."
(Brick took out the box from his pocket and opened it for Jason, so he could see the ring for himself)
Brick: "What do you think, Jason?"
(Jason was wide-eyed and mouth parted as he blinked a few times. He nods and smiles at both Sonny and Brick)
Jason: "You are good, Brick. You are very good. That is exactly the ring I wanted. How did you get it so fast?"
(Brick casually shrugs and moves his head around)
Brick: "I have my ways. Don't worry. It wasn't illegal. I'll just say that."
Jason: "I know it wasn't illegal and I'm not worried. Thank you. I just need to get it resized so it fits her."
Brick: (nods) "Done. Just tell me her wedding ring finger size and I'll have it done in time for the party."
Jason: "I appreciate it."
(Brick and Jason shake hands before Jason leaves)
Brick: "Jason is finally going to be happy. I don't know Elizabeth well, but she sounds like a fine young woman."
Sonny: (smiles) "Awe, she's awesome, Brick. You will get along great with her. It's about time he's finally happy. It took long enough. Elizabeth treats him well."
***GH***
(Elizabeth goes to Monica's office)
Monica: "Although this is unexpected, I'm always happy to see you, honey."
Liz: (chuckles) "I enjoy visiting you, too. I will always love Audrey, but being she's no longer with us, her spirit lives on in me and my kids."
Monica: "You are very right. I could never take her place, but please know that I am here for you."
Liz: "I know, Monica. I appreciate it more than you know. The reason I am here…Jason hasn't officially proposed yet, but it's only a matter of time. I want the perfect wedding ring for Jason."
(Monica smiles wide as she speaks)
Monica: "I have a suggestion, if that's okay?"
Liz: (nods) "I'm all ears."
(Monica grins at her soon to-be-daughter-in-law as she takes a ring box out of her purse and shows it to Elizabeth, opening the box)
Monica: "This was my husband Alan's wedding ring. If you want, you can get it resized and give it to Jason on your wedding day."
(Elizabeth gets a bit teary-eyed as she looks between the ring and Monica)
Liz: "Are you sure? I don't want to impose."
Monica: "Alan would want Jason to have his ring. I insist. I know that Jason will want to pick out his own wedding ring for you."
Liz: (chuckles) "Probably. But I will gladly accept Alan's ring for Jason. Thank you so much, Monica."
(The soon-to-be-in laws embrace)
***Still at GH***
(Jason sees Terry at the Nurse's Station)
Jason: "Hey, Terry."
Terry: "Hey, Jason. What can I do for you?"
Jason: "Can we talk in private, please?"
Terry: (jokingly) "Do I need to be concerned?"
Jason: (chuckles) "No."
Terry: (smiles) "Let's go to the bench by the elevators over there. Not many people go there."
(After they sit down, they face each other)
Terry: "Okay, what's going on?"
Jason: "I have a question for you."
Terry: (nods) "Go for it."
Jason: "Elizabeth considers you her best friend as well as a sister."
Terry: (nods) "For as long as we can remember."
Jason: "It wouldn't feel right not asking you this."
Terry: "Go on."
Jason: "Being Elizabeth's parents are not in her life, she looks up to you, Terry. Do I have your blessing to ask Elizabeth to marry me?"
(Terry just stares at Jason, causing him to wonder if he made a mistake. She catches him off-guard by sliding against him and rushing into his arms)
Terry: "Thank you so much, Jason, for loving Elizabeth. My bestie deserves the world and has not received it."
(Terry lets go and tears up, nodding)
Terry: "Sorry about the embrace. You just made me so happy with your question on Elizabeth. You definitely have my blessing, Jason. I cannot wait to be at the engagement party and wedding when it comes."
(Terry looks serious and points, as if she's pointing at her bestie even though she's not present)
Terry: "If Biz doesn't say yes, she's a damn idiot. I'll tell her that myself."
Jason: (chuckles) "Thank you, Terry."
(They walk away from each other and she goes back to work. Jason then goes to see his mother. Monica is happy to see her son)
Monica: "Well, hello there. To what do I owe the visit?"
(As Jason speaks, he gestures)
Jason: "I visited Terry about the subject and got her approval. I spoke to the boys and got their approval. Elizabeth also considers you another mother. It wouldn't feel right if I didn't have your blessing, as well, to propose to my girl."
(Monica smiles happily, placing her hands on both sides of his cheek and lightly kissing it and then nods)
Monica: "You definitely have my blessing, sweetie. I'm so happy for you two." (sighs) "I will admit for a long time I thought Sam made you happy. I know now that was not the case. You better keep Elizabeth, Jason."
Jason: (nods) "I plan to."
(They hug and he leaves)
***Later***
(Danny is having the time of his life with his family. He is enjoying school and hanging out with his brothers. Jason and Elizabeth take turns helping Danny with his homework. Alexis and Kristina stop by to visit Danny and was greeted by Jason and Elizabeth as well as the boys)
Alexis: "Danny, how are things going here?"
Danny: (smiles) "I like it here! I'm having so much fun."
Kristina: "Hope you don't mind us coming to visit."
Danny: "Not at all, Auntie Kristina."
(Danny hugs both his aunt and grandma. Alexis checks out Danny's new room and is very satisfied with it. Franco stops by shortly afterwards to see how his son is doing. He was genuinely happy that Danny loved his new life)
Franco: "Danny, would you like to get some ice cream sometime?"
Danny: (nods) "Sure. Okay."
(Franco couldn't help but be happy that Danny is slowly warming up to him)
