Thank you to everyone who has reviewed/followed/favorited this story so far. I'm glad you are enjoying the story. The last time I looked at my poll, only 1 person participated in wanting the Britch out of my story. But in my reviews, a few people expressed interest in having her in the story. Being the most popular vote so far is for Britt to be in this story, she will be in it. Like I said, I already have a storyline in mind for the Britch and it may or may not shock you. I am going to progress our future couples relationship a little bit more before bringing our love to hate character (Britt) into the mix. I hope you like what I come up with. I left a hint in the previous chapters what the Britch would be coming on as. Feel free to PM me anytime and as always, thank you to everyone who review/follow/favorite!
Chapter 8
(After getting ready for work, Patrick walks into the living room to see Emma already dressed and watching her favorite cartoons. He chuckles softly as he approaches her)
Patrick: "Hey, sweetie. How long have you been up? I didn't hear you in your room."
Emma: "I've been up for awhile." (smiles) "I enjoyed having Sabrina over the other night. It was fun."
Patrick: (chuckles) "Yeah, it was, wasn't it?"
(Emma walks to her little table to grab something before going to her daddy. He briefly looks at the drawing before facing his daughter)
Patrick: "What's this, baby?"
Emma: "This is for Sabrina. I wanted to make something for her. What do you think?"
(Patrick looks at the drawing and admires it. It puts a smile on his face when he reads what she wrote)
Patrick: "'To Sabrina, From Emma. Thank you for hanging out with daddy and me. You're so much fun. Please come over again. Love, Emma'."
(Patrick smiles tenderly as he rereads what his daughter wrote. He wasn't sure how she felt about Sabrina, but judging from the drawing, she adored her. Patrick looks up from the drawing to face his daughter)
Patrick: "This is a very beautiful drawing you made, Emma."
Emma: (hopeful look) "Do you think she'll like it, daddy?"
(Patrick looks at the pictures of the people that are also on there, which shows Emma standing between Patrick and Sabrina as they are holding hands and smiling. Patrick can't help but chuckle softly as he looks at his daughter)
Patrick: "Yes, baby, I think she'll love it. As a matter of fact, I know she will. You know why? Because it's coming from you."
Emma: (giggles) "I'm glad." (smiles) "Can I give it to her before school starts? Please, daddy?"
(Patrick smiles as he looks at his daughter. He hasn't seen her this happy in a long time. Sure, he has seen her smile, but never this happy, not since Robin was alive. The thought of telling Emma not to get overly excited to see Sabrina never crossed his mind as he privately admitted to himself that he was also looking forward to seeing the lovely young nurse)
(Patrick studies the drawing that his five year old made and smiles at the holding of hands. He never thought he would feel like this again for someone else. That he would have feelings for another woman after the death of his wife. He didn't know if it was normal for him to have strong feelings for Sabrina, but to him, he was happy about it. He looks up at Emma and happily nods)
Patrick: "Yes, sweetheart, we can see Sabrina before I drop you off at school."
Emma: (happily) "Yay!"
Patrick: (laughs) "I'll make sure you have some breakfast and then we'll get our things ready before we stop at the hospital."
Emma: "Do you think she'll like it?"
Patrick: (smiles & nods) "Yes, baby, I think she will."
(After breakfast and finishing getting ready, Patrick and Emma Drake head to the hospital. When they get off the elevator, they see Felix, Elizabeth, and Epiphany at the Nurse's Station. The nurses look up at the sound of footsteps approaching and greet the father and daughter)
Epiphany: "Hello, Drake Jr. Miss Emma."
Liz: "Hey, you guys."
Felix: "Well, if it isn't our favorite little Drake...and you of course." (snickering at Patrick)
Patrick: (sarcastically) "Ha-ha, funny. Nice to see you, too."
Liz: "What brings you by? You're not on for another hour."
Patrick: (looking at Emma) "Someone wanted to come by and bring a picture they drew for a certain nurse with glasses."
Felix/Liz: "Awww."
Emma: "Do you want to see it?"
Felix: "Of course, girl! You know I love to see your creations!"
(Emma shows Felix the picture while Elizabeth steals a glance at it)
Felix: "I don't know, Dr. Drake. You may have a future Leonardo Da Vinci like artist on your hands."
(Emma looks at her dad with a confused look, causing Patrick to explain what Felix meant)
Patrick: "Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous painter. Felix was just complimenting you on your drawing, saying he loves it."
Emma: "Oh." (to Felix) "Thank, you, Felix." (smiling)
Felix: (smiles) "You bet, girl. And I can't wait to see the look on Sabrina's face when she sees it."
Sabrina: "Can't wait to see the look on my face when I see what?"
(Everyone looks as they see Sabrina walking up to them. She sees them all smiling at her, causing her to look at them curiously)
Sabrina: "Okay, what'd I miss?"
Felix: (smiles) "Our little girl here has something for you."
Liz: "And we all thought it was very beautiful."
(Sabrina looks at Emma, who gives her the drawing she drew)
Emma: "I drew this last night. I hope you like it."
(As Sabrina is admiring the picture of her, Patrick, and Emma holding hands and smiling, she can't help but get tears in her eyes. Emma notices this and tilts her head)
Emma: "Sabrina, what's wrong? Don't you like it?"
(Sabrina sniffles as she wipes a few tears from her cheeks and kneels down, looking up at the little girl)
Sabrina: "It's the best drawing I've ever gotten." (smiles) "I love it, Emma. You did wonderful."
Emma: (smiles) "I'm glad you liked it."
Sabrina: (smiles) "Come here, sweetie."
(Patrick watches happily as Emma goes into Sabrina's waiting arms. Sabrina smiles as she holds the little girl while Emma rests her head on the nurse's shoulder. Patrick couldn't help but get teary eyed as well watching his daughter and the woman he was starting to fall for in a warm, loving embrace. Felix, Elizabeth, and Epiphany admire the moment that the doctor, the nurse, and the little girl was sharing. They knew it was only a matter of time before there was a change in that relationship. One they hoped happened very soon)
