Chapter 13

(Patrick and Sabrina are on the front porch of his house. He looks at her with raised eyebrows)

Patrick: "Are you ready for the party?"

Sabrina: (chuckles) "I have no doubts you and Emma will entertain me well. Besides, I love that little girl." (smirks) "Her father isn't so bad, either."

Patrick: (cautiously) "Thanks." (narrows his eyes jokingly) "I think."

Sabrina: (rolls her eyes) "Very funny." (smiles) "Let's go see that beautiful daughter of yours."

(Patrick nods before unlocking the door. He opens the door enough so both he and Sabrina can go in at the same time. They face the living room where Maxie and Emma are at. They're both sitting on the couch watching TV. Maxie and Emma look towards the door and smile)

Emma: "Hi, daddy."

(Emma gets off the couch and walks to Sabrina, who lowers herself so the young girl can hug her)

Emma: "I missed you, Sabrina."

Sabrina: (chuckles) "Aw, I missed you, too."

(Sabrina and Emma break apart. Patrick feigns hurt)

Patrick: "Hey, what about me? Didn't you miss me?"

Emma: (giggles) "Yes, daddy. But I see you every day. I don't always see Sabrina every day."

(Maxie and Sabrina laugh while Patrick just smiles and shakes his head as he pats his five-year-olds head)

Maxie: "Did you two enjoy your night out or whatever it was?"

(Patrick and Sabrina smile at each other as he speaks)

Patrick: "We did." (looks at Maxie) "Thank you for staying. I can take it from here."

(Maxie walks towards Patrick and Sabrina and smiles)

Maxie: "For the record, I'm glad you two got everything straightened out. You two are cute together."

(Sabrina blushes while Patrick folds his arms and attempts to play dumb)

Patrick: "How did you know what we were planning? I never said anything."

Maxie: (rolls her eyes & scoffs) "Oh, please! Anyone with eyes can see it." (smiles) "It's obvious you two care for each other."

(Patrick and Sabrina smile at each other)

Patrick: "You're right. We do." (to Maxie) "What do I owe you for being such a great babysitter?"

Maxie: (smirks) "Are you sure you wanna know?"

Patrick: (wide eyed) "That much?" (shudders) "You definitely don't come cheap, do you, Miss Jones?"

Maxie: (smiles) "You love me as Emma's babysitter, though, don't you?"

(Patrick looks at Sabrina and Emma, who are finding it hard not to laugh. Patrick pouts)

Patrick: (to Emma & Sabrina) "You two are enjoying this, aren't you?"

Sabrina: (giggles) "You did say Maxie wouldn't mind staying later as she enjoys the extra cash."

Emma: (smiles) "I like Maxie. She's fun."

(Patrick shakes his head in defeat before paying Maxie what he owes her. He playfully complains that he broke the bank. Emma just laughs at her daddy. Maxie says her goodbyes before she leaves. Emma looks at Sabrina in confusion)

Emma: "I'm glad you're here, Sabrina, but I thought it was my bedtime?"

(Patrick goes to his daughter and bends down to her level)

Patrick: "I know that technically it is your bedtime, but I thought you may want to watch a movie with Sabrina and I. Being it's not a school night, you can stay up a little bit longer. Up to you, though."

Emma: (face lights up) "You, me, and Sabrina having a movie night?"

Sabrina: (nods & smiles) "If you want to. How does that sound?"

Emma: (nods happily) "Yeah!" (tilts her head) "What movie?"

(Patrick and Sabrina glance at each other and smile before facing the little girl)

Sabrina: "You choose. This is your night, my dear."

Patrick: (corrects Sabrina) "This is our night."

Emma: (nods & smiles) "Daddy's right."

Sabrina: (chuckles) "Okay."

(Emma takes Sabrina's hand and they go to Emma's room to pick out a movie together. Patrick decides to make himself useful and make the popcorn. For the drinks, Patrick decides on glasses of iced tea. He brings the bowl of popcorn and beverages out, setting them on the table. He looks in the direction of his daughter's bedroom and smiles tenderly)

Patrick: "This has been the perfect day followed by the perfect night." (looks up) "If this was your sign, Robin, that I asked you for awhile back in the locker room..." (looks forward & smiles) "Thank you. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect person to spend time with than Sabrina."

(He hears laughter coming from his daughter's room before Sabrina and Emma come out. He looks at them curiously)

Patrick: "Do I dare ask what's so funny?"

Sabrina: (chuckles) "Oh, she couldn't resist the movie 'Frozen' as she said that you sometimes act out the parts." (raises her eyebrows curiously) "Something I should know about?"

Patrick: (playfully to Emma) "Traitor."

Emma: (giggles) "I couldn't resist. Besides, Sabrina won't tell."

(The father and daughter look at the nurse in expectancy. Sabrina shakes her head and smiles)

Sabrina: "It's our little secret."

(They all settle on the couch. Emma is sitting between the happy new couple. Patrick and Sabrina smile at each other before focusing on the movie. Emma looks at the two adults and smiles. Emma looks up and thinks to herself)

Emma: (smiles) "Thank you, mommy, for bringing Sabrina into my life and making daddy happy again."
