Happy Valentine's Day~ From a reading and writing perspective, aesthetically Valentine's Day is a holiday I like! It's last minute, but tradition to write for this holiday, and to see what I can write in one day!

The prompt: your otp Writing a letter to each other. What they love about one another. etc…

A short drabble for the holiday. I will have longer chapters and continue the Kitten *past life* Kamui/Puppy Love AU next!

Everything.

Colorful paper strips, pens, and decorations filled the long dining room table. The dinging of the oven signaled the young man to rise up and turn to the kitchen.

Shirou Kamui had returned home from classes, placing a soft purple apron over his CLAMP university uniform. Traces of flour from earlier attempts at baking sprinkled on his dark black and blue hair with a strong contrast.

"Okay, this time for sure," Kamui braced himself for seeing the result of his effort. Many many trials and errors came about to get this homemade chocolate to look and taste exactly as Kamui knew his boyfriend liked.

Boyfriend…That's right this would be less than two months since they had professed their feelings and gotten together. Kamui was still processing it, and Sumeragi Subaru felt the same as he did. Subaru was his boyfriend. Subaru loved him….

His lips curled up towards a dreamy smile. He opened the small oven to inspect the chocolates, seeing them keep their pristine form, he sighed in relief.

Though he never once complained, he wanted his boyfriend to have the best. Kamui noticed he preferred dark chocolate to milk and enjoyed an overall milder taste to sweets. An opposite of Kamui's own tastes.

They would both see each other, at the end of their school and work days, and exchange their presents, candies, flowers, and cards. Kamui had his card ready.

"What I love about you…" are words neatly signed on the front of the card.

On the recommendation of Kamui's over-eager friends and Subaru's twin sister, they got wrapped up in the holiday traditions. Including an idea for them to write a meaningful card being their first Valentine's Day together.

They exchanged "I love you's", but often stumbled expressing all they felt inside. Inexperience and Kamui's shy/reserved nature made things difficult.

'Since finding the words to say can be difficult it might help writing them out!'~Hokuto had mischievously planned and told both Kamui and her brother on separate occasions.

Subaru and Kamui got swept up in this project. Their first Valentine's Day together, and hopefully the first of many to come. 'I want to be with Subaru always…' Kamui thought fondly, biting his lip, since he had been with Subaru, he knew he'd never be the same. He wasn't, he gave his heart completely and in return somehow won over Subaru's heart.

Subaru had worried, that he, of all people, wasn't enough his heart was shattered, and Kamui deserved more. For Kamui, he never saw a more beautiful heart in his world. They'd had their own past heartaches but they'd work together on piecing things together, one day at a time.

Now, Kamui busies his hands folding a cardboard, heart-shaped box. He placed the heart and star-shaped candies into the box. His nimble fingers tied the beautiful silky green ribbon around it. Perhaps, the red heart and green seemed more themed for Christmas, but…the ribbon made him think of Subaru and his gentle green eyes.

Kamui held his hands to his hips, scrutinizing every single candy once more before sealing the box tightly. Everything had to be perfect, it had to be the very best he could do, and nothing less. This was for his Subaru after all!

The homemade chocolates were finally complete. "Now, for the tough part…" He anxiously mumbled to himself, cleaning up the kitchen, making it seem it didn't take as many tries as it did.

Heart-shaped and floral decorations were sealed all over the envelope, in their violet and emerald colors. Kamui decorated the handmade card with similar colored hearts and decorations. They were all in place, now came the message, the 'heart' of the card.

But…how was he supposed to put all of this into words? What did he love about Subaru? There were so many things, would a card, or even a collection of books be enough to capture everything?

"What I love about you…" had been the idea he hoped to convey. It made Kamui's cheeks burn up writing out the words, but he told himself he'd complete this project, and wouldn't stop now.

Kamui hummed, tapping the tip of the pen under his chin. 'Subaru's so kind…' His kind heart was the first thing that came to mind whenever he thought of Subaru. Kindness, compassion, empathy…nearly every word that aligned fit Subaru perfectly.

'Subaru's…really beautiful…' The word itself had been used on Kamui, making his cheeks stain a near-constant red, the first day Subaru told him. But still, it made Kamui feel happy…and he wanted to give Subaru all the happiness in the world. He reflected on their first meeting, being saved by Subaru when his heart was in disarray.

'Inside and out…' Kamui again paused, fumbling with the pen, twisting it around as he searched for words. 'How did I get so lucky?' Subaru's outer beauty was incredible, but even that was just icing on the cake, compared to the person he was. That was saying something!

The soft dark green and black, hair, those deep emerald orbs that Kamui could get lost in, there were countless attributes he adored. He loved the rare times he could make Subaru blush, or say something that would make his boyfriend go speechless, and quickly pull him into an embrace.

He touched his lips softly. 'Kissing…' Kamui flushed a vivid cherry red. 'His lips are so soft and gentle and….' He squeaked, dropping his pen to cover his burning cheeks. All those sweet kisses, embraces, and touches came to mind. It was enough to melt him, and the more they did, the more he knew he'd love every moment. 'His smile, his lips, his eyes, of course his heart is like nothing else…'

There were so many things, it might not be possible to list every single aspect of Subaru that Kamui loved. It was the whole of him. Still, Kamui would give it his all to write as much as he could think of, all the wonderful and important things that made Subaru, his Subaru.

Heart fluttering- Kamui finally finished his card, mere moments before he heard the door unlock. He hurried to throw away the drafts, and excess paper, and put away the rest of the stationary. Much like the candies on his card, it never felt quite good enough for Subaru. As a result, Kamui kept trying again and again until reaching what he felt was complete.

Such a card turned into a lengthy love letter. There was no way Kamui could fit all he wanted to convey in a small amount of space. This led to the envelope becoming quite bloated.

"I'm home," Subaru called out, with a gentle albeit sleepy tone. His eyes narrowed down on Kamui immediately. His expression shifted immediately, eyes lighting up, and lips curving almost foolishly so.

"Welcome back," Kamui returned, nervously playing with the ribbon on his chocolate gift for Subaru. He stood up and quickly rushed over to see his boyfriend. His incredibly kind boyfriend, let him move in from the noisy dorms before they even officially came together. The change was a welcome one that came out naturally, especially at moments like this.

Kamui beamed, watching his beloved slip off his shoes, and gaze over at him. "Subaru," he greeted tenderly, lips pressing together. He stepped over the threshold, Kamui wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's neck. Subaru leaned down the rest of the way, his arm slinking around the younger man's waist. Their lips met and melded for a series of soft, sweet kisses.

They smiled, taking their time to come apart. Mainly because Kamui saw his boyfriend had his arms full, and felt something pressing between them. Subaru flushed a little pink, clearing his throat, before holding the beautiful bouquet of red roses, violets, and purple lilies up. "These are for you."

Kamui's eyes glimmered, taking the lavish-looking bouquet, and hugging it to his chest. He leaned down smelling the sweet flowers, lips curling up, cheeks blushing a darker red than his beloved. "Thank you…Subaru." He noted the small gift bag hanging off Subaru's wrist. He recognized the fancy letters from a well-known, and expensive bakery or 'chocolaterie' shop. "You didn't have to get so much."

Subaru shook his head at this, lips curled up in a fond smile. "I wanted to," He leaned down to press a soft kiss to Kamui's forehead, making his cheeks burn brighter, and eyelashes flutter. As the older male took off his long coat and stepped into the house, a sense of pressure came. His boyfriend generously gave him the gift bag. "These are for you as well, I know you prefer very sweet-tasting treats, so I picked out the best one I could find.

Kamui nodded and smiled, whispering another thank you. He felt his heart fluttering. He opened the gift bag, to see a large red heart-box, decorated in ribbons and filled with top-of-the-line chocolates made fresh from the expensive bakery. His own homemade box felt pitiful in comparison.

Subaru was of the opposite way of thinking, bowing his head a little. "I know it's not the same as homemade…but the few times I tried to make something with Hokuto it worked well…" He flushed briefly, fake coughing into his hand. "It didn't go so well…"

Kamui laughed, fighting the urge to pat his boyfriend's shoulder to comfort him. His boyfriend was already incredible, powerful, kind, and gorgeous, he couldn't be good at everything. "These are wonderful, I was actually feeling I should have done more for your gift…"

Subaru's eyes widened, clutching Kamui close to his chest in a sudden embrace. "Kamui, it's from you, of course, I'll love it." He whispered, close to his ear, making the younger male shiver a little.

"I'll find a vase to put the flowers in…" Kamui murmured, feeling himself growing far too warm for a single embrace. Subaru's embraces, however, were insanely addicting, so warm, and comfortable. It always took a few moments for them to part once it began. The closeness is a natural occurrence whenever they are together.

Kamui took a few moments to get up, put the flowers away, and grasp his gift for Subaru. The handmade chocolate box still felt inferior to the younger man's eyes but he knew his boyfriend would accept it so grateful and lovingly all the same. He placed the beautiful bouquet on the table beside their couch.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Kamui handed the box of chocolates to his boyfriend, placing the card that went along with it on the table. Subaru leaned in and pecked his beloved's lips, brushing their noses together.

"Thank you, Kamui," Subaru just had to say that in the most adoring tone, making Kamui squirm a little.

"Y-You're welcome," Kamui returned with a genuine smile, and a sheen of affection glossing his violet-blue eyes. The look made Subaru pause, throat growing dry, admiring, and falling into those beautiful eyes. Kamui had been too focused on his nerves, gazing down. He looked up hearing Subaru as he carefully untied the ribbon.

Emerald eyes shivered, turning glossy, seeing the handiwork in every single chocolate. The sweet smell and sheer knowledge Kamui made for him, was enough to make him pause.

"If it's not the kind you like I can go to the store tomorrow and-" Kamui's worrying speech was cut off shortly, Subaru wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tight, sealing his lips over with his. Their kiss was much more languid, Subaru licking Kamui's lips, making him cry out. Very gradually softening, to stop long enough for Subaru to express, "I love them."

Kamui went breathless, clutching at his chest. He watched his beloved try the first chocolate, pressing them to his lips, closing his eyes as though savoring the finest delicacy. He took his time tasting and indulging in every bit of flavor, the smoothness melting on his tongue.

His eyes shot wide open, pupils blown up. "They're incredible Kamui," Subaru beamed, indulging in the bittersweetness that came from the dark chocolate flavor.

Kamui looked a little unsure, seeming to part his lips in protest when he felt a hand cradle his head.

"Try one," Subaru offered, but before Kamui could say he had tasted them prior or gave any response, he felt his lips captured. The kiss is a bit more passionate than the last few, feeling Subaru's tongue slip between his lips and engage his own, letting Kamui feel and taste the remaining flavor from his lover directly. Their lips, met again and again, from new angles, before they gave a break for air. Kamui panted uncertain he'd make it until it came time for Subaru to read his card/love letter.

"Was that too much?" Subaru asked, eyes lowering with worry.

Kamui shook his head. "N-no, not at all…I just..didn't expect it…" he murmured, breathing softly, and adding on. "But I liked it."

Subaru smiled, seeming satisfied with the answer. "You can open yours as well," he gestured to the box on Kamui's lap. "I hope you'll like them."

Kamui nodded at this, certain, "I will," after all Subaru picked this out just for him. Even after his long tiring day of work, he still went out to get something for Kamui. He undid the ribbon of the chocolate box Subaru got him, taking a small piece. His eyes closed, savoring the sweet and delicate flavor of the candy. "I love it," he returned, violet orbs sparkling from the sweet blend of flavors. He clutches Subaru's hand on his own. Subaru squeezes his hand in turn, peppering his forehead with many kisses.

They remained in a comfortable silence, trying a few more of the chocolates. Indulging on every moment they could, this being their first holiday together.

"I should get your card," Subaru noted, remembering seeing the envelope neglected on the table before him. Even though he wanted to give more and more to Kamui, he seemed reluctant to leave the warmth, feeling Kamui cuddled up so close to him. "I'll be right back." He assured him, quickly disappearing into the bedroom.

Kamui watched, gripping his own card anxiously. Of course, Subaru had his done ahead of time. He took ages to get his own complete and still, he worried, would it be too much? Should he have just stayed writing a few things or…?

"I'm back," Subaru came back quickly, wrapping his arm around Kamui's waist and pulling him in. He kissed the side of his beloved's head before handing him the card.

Kamui shakily handed over his card…his overly long love letter. He flushed pink, seeing Subaru look at the expanded envelope stuffed with several extra pages. He opened his card, seeing Hokuto influence them both. The front of the beautiful card, adorned with purple flowers read, "Happy Valentine's Day, my Kamui, there's much I want to say, and what I truly love about you…"

Subaru opened his card, smitten as he saw the custom writing, drawings, and crafts on the card. The fact it was stuffed with several extra pages of content, only made his heart that more full. Every page is written with words from Kamui's heart. "Subaru, What I love about you most…" is displayed first. He savors the sight of every word, the beautiful themed hearts and paper flowers on the front, all handcrafted all that work for him. The weight of the many papers, folded within, continued Subaru's heart until it was full to bursting.

Kamui took a moment, holding the card tightly, as a treasure. Wondering what someone as amazing as Subaru could see in him. Neither rushed, opening the card, savoring this moment. Kamui followed Subaru's lead, wanting to see his expressions first. His nimble fingers carefully open the card.

Subaru's card didn't have pages upon pages of extra letters. Nor the countless words, and sentences Kamui poured his heart into. Despite it, he found his eyes shaking, heart clenched, feeling the emotion Subaru put into this.

It had just one word…

"…Everything."

"I…can explain this if you'd like…" Subaru looked red, one of the few times Kamui saw his boyfriend quite this red. He fumbled for words and swallowed hard. His hand was nervous, shaking a little, Kamui clutched it instantly. His thumb brushed on the back of Subaru's hand, a gesture they knew well. "I…I have…many…many things I love about you Kamui."

"Subaru?" Kamui felt his stomach flip, eyes widening and cheeks painting a beautiful sunset pink.

"Countless parts of you I love," Subaru coos, cupping Kamui's cheek, holding him tenderly. The younger male leaned into his touch. "All of these things, and things I'm maybe not even aware of that I love about you…felt near impossible to list every one of them or even a small part…"

"So…e-everything?" Kamui squeezed his boyfriend's hand, processing the words, and emotions of how deep this feeling ran between them.

"Everything," Subaru confirmed, kissing his temples again. "There are countless parts of you I love. And really when I think of it, what first came to mind…was…everything…" he pursed his lips together, flushing a little more, his words coming out shaky, breaks between, but they were so sincere.

Kamui felt his whole body shiver, hearing Subaru profess everything so raw, so genuine, and right from the heart.

"I…ah…" Subaru paused again, taking a breath. He felt his stomach doing acrobatics and his heart thundering in his chest. "I love all of you, Shirou Kamui. Everything. Including the parts you may not favor about yourself, I love all of it. I love everything that makes up the whole of you."

"I…understand the feeling…ah f-f-for you too," Kamui, clutched at his chest, his other hand squeezing Subaru's in reassurance. He knew this feeling all too well, this intense emotion that left his heart. He hadn't considered this option to simply state that it was everything he loved and adored. "I love you too…all of you Sumeragi Subaru." He professed with an equal sense of passion and vulnerability. "So much so…I ended up writing page after page trying to grasp…everything."

All that work, all those words, pages, practically essays on his love for Subaru, and he felt outshined by a card with a single word. That was the power of his Subaru.

"I see that," Subaru smiles at that, a private, tender curl to his lips reserved only for Kamui. The 'Kamui' smile, as his sister dubbed it, saw that smile only when he was around or talking about his beloved Kamui. He brushed his hand over Kamui's cheek and cradled the letters from Kamui in his hand. Emerald orbs glazed over, shaking and quivering seeing every word put in with such love, and devotion, written beautifully. "And I love them. I'll always cherish this, my Kamui."

Subaru just had to call his name in that loving, possessive tone. His lips stole Kamui's once more before taking in the contents of Kamui's card for him.

"I guess…I didn't need to go so overboard…I do love everything about you too," Kamui emphasized the one word, feeling a bit insecure at his work.

"Not at all," Subaru refuted immediately, dispelling all sense of doubt. "It's beautiful…and well this isn't what I started on..."

"What do you mean?" Kamui tilted his head to the side looking kittenish. Subaru pressed his lips together to keep from laughing.

"I started out trying to write everything I could think of…before I made this…" He admits, turning that tender shade of pink, that made Kamui's toes curl.

"You…did?" Kamui lost his breath, eyes widened, before settling to a pleased shimmer. His heart couldn't help but leap, Subaru...had been doing the same? or at least similar?

"You can see the rough drafts…if you'd like," Subaru trails off, pressing his lips together, a bit abashed.

"Rough drafts?" Kamui's eyes widened looking curiously at his boyfriend. Subaru grasped his wrist, holding his card, and leading him to the bedroom. Sure enough, opening the desk drawer, there were countless papers, folded up or, crossed out in some ways, filled to the brim with words of emotion, and an everlasting story of affection.

Kamui only caught a glimpse at a few writings pulling the papers out. "Happy Valentine's Day..." Subaru murmured, watching for Kamui's every move and expression. There were dozens upon dozens of papers.

'Kamui, I love the color of your eyes, the way they capture so much emotion takes my breath away.'

'I love you as you are and how you've saved me from what I assumed to be a life of heartache and solitude…'

and…

'I love your tender and caring heart, that makes me feel welcome every day I return to our home'

It went on and on. Kamui was right after all, knowing Subaru would always go above and beyond. His card was not the same as Subaru's, combining every rough draft, Subaru's card was at least 3 times as long! Just how long has his boyfriend spent on this? All this time thinking about what to express, what to say…the many things he loved about Kamui….

"You don't have to read them all…I just wanted to show you," Subaru asks nervously from the silence, even attempting to close the drawer. His hand is quickly stopped.

"No, they're mine so I'm keeping them!" Kamui protested, one of the few times he'd ever done so in their relationship. He wouldn't trade these for the world, hugging every single letter and card to his chest. Treasuring them for an eternity.

Subaru laughed, taking a seat on the bed, and reading through Kamui's beautifully written love note. He motioned for his beloved to come over.

Kamui came close to him, embracing every bit of work and love put into what Subaru wrote about him. He kissed Subaru gratefully, slow, sweet, and with every emotion he couldn't quite put into words.

All he felt for Subaru. All he loved about him… His…

Everything…
