Scream V (2022) My Version

Chapter Nineteen: Legacy To The Rescue

While Sam, Dewey and Richie are on their way to the hospital to help Tara who Sam believes is in danger, Chad is playing pool with Zeke at the pool hall. The two are having a nice conversation about everything. Even the incidents happening in town.

"Thanks for hanging with me bro." Chad said to him. He appreciated his brother being there for him.

"No problem bro. Besides, we needed to get a breather from all the crazy ass shit with this ghost face character." Zeke said.

"No doubt." Chad said watching as Zeke breaks sending all the cue balls into the pockets of the pool table.

"You're so called friends still giving you a hard time?" Zeke asked.

"Yeah. Not in so many words. Mike is the only who comes out and says it. Everyone else thinks it." Chad said as Zeke misses one and Chad takes over. "Mindy's love for horror movies isn't helping."

"Don't blame her loving horror movies. She's harmless." Zeke said defending his sister.

"I know it's just that she's constantly comparing life to a horror movie." Chad said to him. "It's crazy." Zeke listened. "And then she talks about people suddenly becoming homicidal after watching horror movies. It's ridiculous." Chad continued.

"Actually it's not. There are some stats that reveal too much exposure to horror movies can warp the brain. It's logical." Zeke said taking his turn again after Chad missed a shot. "Speaking of girls, what's going on in the pussy hunt?" Zeke asked.

"Liz still won't give me the time of the day so I don't know about her." Chad said.

"Is she the one with the red hair?" Zeke asked. Chad nods. "Ewwell." Zeke said as Chad laughed. "You want her?" He asked disgusted by the notion.

"Hey she's hot." Chad said defending her.

"She looks like a slut. You can do better." Zeke said to him. Chad looked away thinking. "Wait a minute, didn't you visit Sam's little sister in the hospital?"

"Yeah. Tara." Chad said smiling.

"Yeah Tara. What about her?" Zeke asked.

"We talked and she shares your opinion on Liv." Chad said.

"See she's a smart girl." Zeke said smirking.

"I also think she might like me." Chad said remembering his conversation with Tara. The two almost kissed.

"Ahh! See. Go for her." Zeke said. He liked Sam a lot and by extension thought highly of Tara.

"Maybe, I don't know." Chad said.

"Come on bro. Liv won't give you the time of the day so screw her. Move on." Zeke said to him.

"Yeah I guess." Chad said hitting the balls into the pockets of the pool table again. Zeke had a point. Why chase a woman who doesn't want you? It was crazy. Chad knew this but didn't want to give up his shot at Liv just yet. On the other hand, Tara was showing him interest and he knew it. If he stopped chasing Liv and began chasing Tara, he'd probably catch her.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Tara wheels herself out into the hall. Nobody.

An elevator bank sits at the end of the long corridor past the nurses's station. Feels like miles away. She begins to wheel herself towards it.

Blood on her hand gauze. Every exertion, painful. The chair creaks with each push. Her face, bathed in sweat. Blood seeps through her gown too, she's burst her stitches.

Passing a dark doorway. Anything could be in there. We wait for something to jump out...

But nothing does.

This is the slowest, scariest escape of all time.

Tara exhales. Keeps going. Coming up on the empty nurse's station. As she passes it she sees...

Something dark on the floor. Pool of blood. Gouting from the slashed throat of a security guard. He's still alive!

Tara's eyes go wide, and she jams her hand in her mouth to not scream!

His eyes still open, mouth working like a fish... she watches in horror as the last moments of his life leak out of him...

As Sam roars through a red light and takes a hard screeching right turn! Dewey, holding on for dear life:

"I'm beginning to see where the airbag came from!"

Sam doesn't give a fuck, pedal mashed to keeps going...

meanwhile back at the hospital, the private floor, Tara just found the security guard gurgling on his own blood. She sees the security guard's holster. Smart. She unbuckles it, checking it...Empty. No gun.

"Fuck." She curses not finding the gun. A crash from somewhere else on the floor! Movement. Tara straightens up. She's gotta move, she's gotta hide.

Looks back to the dark doorway. Gives her all, wheeling towards it. Hands slippery from the guard's blood...

Lights off, room empty. Tara closes the door so it's only open a sliver. Looks around for a weapon of some kind.

Metal bedpan by the sink. It'll have to do. She grabs it with her good hand and sits there, still.

Footsteps can be heard in the corridor outside. She hears a door creak. He's checking each room. Methodically. He's two rooms away.

On Tara. Shaking with pain and fear in the dark. Bathed in sweat. She hears the door next to her room creak. One room away now. She raises the bedpan...

Footsteps, close. He's outside the door. Pushing it open... With all her strength, Tara swings it at his head- WHANG!

"Ow- Goddammit!" Came the voice of Richie.

"Shit Richie. I'm sorry." Tara said having hit him with the bed pan. "What are you doing here?" She asked him.

"Sam called me and told me that you might be in trouble and asked me to come here." Richie said.

"Where is she? Come to think of it where are my parents?" She asked.

"Sam's on her way and I don't know where your parents are." Richie said. Tara looks around scared. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah." She said noticing movement behind Richie. It's ghost face sneaking up on Richie. Tara's eyes go wide.

"What? What is it?" Richie asked her.

"RICHIE WATCH OUT!!!" Tara screams.
