Scream V (2022) My Version

Chapter Twenty-Two: School's Tribute To David & Wes

The Carpenters had gotten back home, Sam had helped Tara up to her bedroom. Richie had decided to head to the hotel and grab Sam's bag along with his. Christine gave him permission to stay with them until this case was solved and he and Sam could return to school. Besides there were strength in numbers. He arrived at their house about one am. Christine told him he could sleep in the guess room.

With her daughters back home, Christine was happy they were back in the house. The house had cleared the house for them to return. She checked in on both Sam and Tara who were fast asleep on Tara's bed. Sam's arms wrapped around Tara's small frame as the two sisters slept together. She smiles and goes over to them placing a blanket over them before turning the lights off, closing the door and heading back downstairs.

She had spent the night cleaning up the blood left by Tara's attack. She didn't want Tara to be reminded of this incident. Christine had a lot on her mind, this ghost face thing was part of it but there was something else..guilt. She felt guilty because she was hiding a secret from her family and if she told them then her family would be destroyed. Seeing Billy and Sidney brought those memories back for her.

It was no secret that she had wanted Billy Loomis and didn't know what he saw in Sidney. If Billy had chosen her, she would've left Ben for him. That certainly would've been the case back in the day. Nowadays, she would be with Ben. Besides too much time has passed and she loves her family. Now because of a secret her family could torn apart. What was she to do.

Ben had gone to his office to look over some paper work. He despite having so much paperwork to do, he could not concentrate on it. He was too worried for his daughters safety. Not mention the arrivals of his former classmates Billy and Sidney. He hadn't like Billy back when they were in school. All the girls wanted him and the boys wanted to be him. The handsome boy next door sexy as hell type, Ben was not that. He was the complete opposite. A nerdy dork who loved Star Wars movies and comic books. He was just hot enough to get a girl like Christine. In fact the only reason he gotten her to go out with him was because she was a lot like him but wanted to be popular. Then this whole thing with ghost face happened. Five classmates met their demises. He thanked god he wasn't part of it but wondered why now? Why had his girls been targeted? He couldn't answer that question. One thing was for sure, he was going to protect his daughters. With the sheriff and her son dead, who was left to help him and Christine?

The principal decided to closed the school for awhile until the killer is either caught or is dead. With two of their students dead and another having been attacked, the principal wanted to hold a tribute to David and Wes. All of the students gathered in the auditorium. The principal had asked a few students to help decorate the auditorium with flowers, and pictures of David and Wes.

In attendance were Mike, Liv, Nate, Stacy and Amber. The football team sat in the middle rows with other students. The auditorium filled up with the rest of the student body including the faculty.

Several rows in the back were Chad, Mindy and Zeke. All paying their respects to both Wes and David. All three listened as the principal gave a speech about both Wes and David. The coach gave a speech about David. Nate and Stacy spoke about Wes. The school marching band played a music in salute to their fallen classmates. Zeke, Chad and Mindy left before the tribute was over fearing they'd be accused of committing the crimes.

Gale wanted to see Dewey's body. She headed back to the hospital to do so. Sidney was with her. The deputy led them down to the autopsy room where the coroner is waiting for her.

"Gale you sure you wanna do this?" Sidney asked.

"I have to. I need to." Gale said as they moved towards the window of the autopsy room. Gale had to brace herself. Sidney places a hand on her shoulder.

"You ready?" The deputy asked. Gale nods. The deputy nods. The coroner pulled the white sheet down revealing Dewey Riley's dead body. Gale immediately cries seeing Dewey's dead body. The realization that he's dead hits her so hard. She sobs. The deputy nods and the coroner pulls the sheet back over Dewey's corpse. Sidney does her best to hold Gale as she cries. Tears fall down her face as well.

"He's really gone Sid." Gale said sobbing.

"I know." She said as she held Gale. Both exited the autopsy room.

At the cafe, Nate, Stacy, Mike, Liv and Amber are all sitting at a booth eating food and talking. They were discussing the current state of the events that have plagued the town for the past two decades.

"This shit feels weird." Liv said.

"Yeah Wes and David are dead." Nate said.

"Not to mention the fact that Mindy and Chad are not here with us." Stacy said.

"Good fuckin riddance." Mike said taking a bite of his fries.

"They're still our friends." Nate said.

"Not after we accused them of being murders in their own home no less." Stacy said.

"Speaking of disappearing, where the hell where you?" Liv asked Mike. He looked up at her menacingly.

"I told y'all I'm not stepping foot in casa-de-addam's family home." Mike said. Nate laughed. Liv and Stacy groaned. "Come on. That house screams murderville."

"They're house is just as normal as yours." Amber said attempting to defend the Meeks'Martin residence. Despite everything that's happened, she still considers them her friends. She was texting Tara who hasn't responded to her calls or text messages.

"Seriously doubt that." Mike said. He noticed Amber was distracted. "Who are you texting?"

"Tara. She hasn't responded back to my messages or phone calls." Amber said.

"The tribute was a nice touch though. I liked it." Liv said.

"Yeah. Speaking about Wes and David was awesome man." Mike said as Nate nods.

"How come no one mentioned Vince or the sheriff?" Liv asked.

"And Dewey Riley." Mike said.

"Probably because the school wanted to focus on the students. Maybe the town hall will have a tribute to Sheriff Hicks and Dewey Riley. I don't think they give a shit about Vince." Nate said.

"We should do something to celebrate the lives of Wes and David." Stacy said. Amber looked up getting an idea.

"I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna throw a party." Amber said excitedly.

"You thinking of inviting Tara?" Liv asked smirking.

"I would but she's still in the hospital." Amber said.

"No she's not." Stacy said. Amber looked over at her shocked.

"What do you mean?" Amber asked her.

"Her parents took her home last night." Stacy said.

"How the hell do you know this?" Amber asked.

"Chad told me. He said he spoke with Tara briefly she let him know she was back home." Stacy said. Amber looked away a little hurt that Tara hadn't told her this. Tara hadn't responded to her messages either and this bothered her. She knew Tara was still hurt from her betrayal but had apologized and was doing everything she could to make it up to her.

"Do you think her parents will let her come to the party?" Nate asked.

"It's not her parents I'm worried about. It's that bitch sister of hers." Amber said.

"Sam?" Mike asked amused.

"Yes her." Amber said.

"She may come if you invite Sam." Mike said. Amber looked on annoyed that she'd have to have Sam in her house.

"Yeah maybe. I don't know." Amber said.

"We should invite Chad and Mindy." Stacy said as Mike looked at her.

"They're still our friends dude." Nate said.

"Whatever." Mike said continuing to eat his food.

The group continued eating their food and chatting about the party what to beverages and foods to serve at the party.

At the hotel where Sidney and Billy are staying, Sidney and Gale had gotten something to eat before making their way back to the room. Billy had been asleep when she left. Now he's awake. Both walk into the room. Billy is talking to Jill over the phone.

"How's Gale?" Jill asks.

"She's going through it." Billy said.

"Gale's a tough woman. She'll get through it." Jill said. "Dewey wouldn't want her to wallow."

"I agree. Sid and I are here for her." Billy said.

"Any news on who killed him?" Jill asked.

"Not yet." Billy said. He hears the key turning in the lock to open the door. It's Sid and Gale. "I'll call later with more info."

"Ok." Jill said. "Give Gale my condolences." She said.

"I will." Billy said as they both hung up their phones. "Hey you two."

"Hey." Gale said somberly.

"Who was that on the phone?" Sidney asked.

"Jill. She wanted to know what was happening. She sends her condolences to you Gale." Billy said.

"Thank her for me." Gale said. Billy nods. Sidney hands him a large coffee black two sugars. Just how he likes it. Hers is large black coffee no sugar. Gale has cream in hers no sugar. All three are having breakfast. "I saw his body Bill." Gale said sadly. "He's really gone."

"I'm sorry Gale." Billy said. "We'll find out who did this and finish this."

"We know it's a person wearing that fucking ghost face costume." Gale said anger replacing her sadness.

"The question is who's under that mask." Sidney said.

"I talked to Dewey before his death." Gale said thinking aloud.

"Did he say anything about the case?" Sidney asked

"No but he did leave a crime scene with a girl name Sam Carpenter." Gale said.

"Carpenter? Is she Christine's daughter?" Sidney asked.

"Yeah and her sister Tara was attacked a few days ago." Gale said.

"Does she have a group of friends?" Sidney asks.

"I think Tara does." Gale said as all three look at each other.

"One of her friends could be the killer." Billy said.

"We have to talk to Sam and Tara." Billy said.

"Which means talking to Ben and Christine." Gale said. Billy looks down at his coffee. Gale catches this. Sidney looks away thinking. "Who's gonna call them?" She asked. Neither Sidney or Billy answered.

"We Don't have their numbers." Sidney said.

"Fine, I'll call the directory." Gale said as she took out her cellphone.

Sam and Tara are watching tv in the living room. Christine made them breakfast. Richie had joined them. Ben had left for work early and planned on coming back home early. The door bell rings.

"I got it." Sam said as she ran to the door. She opens it and standing there is Zeke. "Zeke hey." She said greeting him.

"Hey. I was just in the neighborhood and thought I'd stop by and check on you and Tara." Zeke said. Tara turned around hearing her name. "Is it ok if I come in?" He asked.

"Uh yeah. Sure." Sam said as Zeke steps inside of the house.

"Who is it honey?" Christine asked.

"It's Zeke mom." Sam said.

"Hey Mrs. Carpenter. It's me." He said. Christine stared at him trying to remember who he was. "Little Zachary." He said jogging her memory.

"Wait you're little Zeke?" She asked finally remembering him. He smiles nodding. She smiled to. "My god look at you. You're so tall now. And handsome."

"Thank you. How have you been?" Zeke asked.

"We've been good thank you for asking." Christine said. "Are you here to see my girls?" She asked.

"Yes ma'am. If it's ok with you." Zeke said.

"Of course honey." Christine said smiling. She remembered Zeke was a bit of a troubled kid but he was a good kid. His father left his mother and he really didn't get along with his step father who are Chad and Mindy's father. Then his mother sent him away to live with her parents. Zeke sure liked Sam. If she didn't know better, she'd assume that Zeke had a crush on Sam.

"Hey Tara look who's here." Sam said as Tara turns around to see Zeke. Richie sees him and is not happy to see him.

"Hey T." Zeke said to her.

"Hey Zeke. How's it going?" Tara asked.

"I was going to ask you the same question." Zeke said moving towards her. "How are you doing?" He asks.

"I'm doing a little better. It would be nice if I felt safer and the killer is caught." Tara said.

"I hear you." Zeke said. "Don't worry the killer will be found and taken out." He said trying to reassure her. Tara smiles a little. "Can I talk to you a moment?" He asks Sam. He completely ignored Richie and Richie noticed this.

"Sure." Sam said as the two step outside of house in the back porch. Richie watched them wondering why he wanted to talk to his girlfriend. "What's up?" She asked sitting down on the chair with him.

"I was thinking about our group conversation back at my place." Zeke said.

"And?" Sam asked.

"How long have you and what's his name been dating?" Zeke asked. Sam smirked.

"First off his name is Richie and we been together for about six months now." Sam said to him.

"Do you trust him?" Zeke asked.

"Yes. Why?" Sam asked. She had to admit that after her first initial conversation with Dewey she began to trust Richie less and less.

"I just have this bad feeling when I'm around him." Zeke said. Grant it this is only the second time he's been in the same vacinity with Richie. Still, can't deny the creepy feeling he gets around him.

"This is your second time around him. That's not fair Zeke. He's not from here so I trust him. Shit he's the only one who may be safe from ghost face." Sam said.

"Maybe. Look I'm sorry. I shouldn't come here casting suspicion on your boyfriend. It's not my intention to cause problems but I just want to protect your family." Zeke said to her leaning close to Sam.

"I appreciate that Z. I know you're not here to cause trouble." Sam said to him. Zeke smiles at this.

"How about this." Zeke said reaching over and taking her phone. He goes into the contacts and adds his number. "If you need me, call and I'll come." He handed her phone back to her. Sam smiles. "I mean it if you or Tara need me I'm here for you."

"Thank you. I will." Sam said smiling. The two continued talking for a bit longer before heading back inside. Neither noticed that Richie was watching them. He didn't like that Sam was so friendly with Zeke but knew this was not the right time to bring it up. He'd talk to her about it later.
