Chapter Twenty-Six: Panic

Christine sat in the kitchen watching th clock and the door hoping that Ben would come home. She had called him several times and also texted him but no response. It was getting late. She called his office and they haven't seen him. She called the cafe where they frequent and he wasn't there. She was starting to worry. With a killer on the loose targeting her family and the residents of the town, she was scared that something would happen to him. Meanwhile every time she is in the same room with Sam the latter moves out the room. Right now Christine can see Sam outside on the back porch talking on her phone. She wondered if it was Billy but it was Zeke. She sighed heavily wondering if her daughter would ever give her a chance to explain. Only time would tell. That is if they survived.

Billy's car pulls back up into the parking lot of the hotel. He gets out and heads towards the room he shared with Sidney. Sidney was in the bathroom but Gale was there. She was seated on the bed using her computer.

"Hey." Gale said.

"Hey." Billy said. "How is she?" Billy asked referring to Sidney.

"She's ok." Gale said to him.

"She told you?" Billy asked.

"Yes. You owe me cause I defended you." Gale said jokingly. Billy smirked. The toilet can be heard flushing. Then the water in the sink is running. Sidney was clearly washing her hands. Once done she comes out the bathroom and spots Billy.

"Hey." Sidney said.

"Hi." Billy said walking over to her. "Sid, baby I'm so sorry. I never met to hurt you. I truly love you."

"I know. I love you to." She said as Billy wraps his arms around Sidney's waste pulling her close to him and kissing her passionately. Sidney returns the gesture. She missed him and overreacted. Despite being mad that he cheated on her all those years ago, one thing Sidney had to admit and that was the fact that Billy had indeed gave his life and love to her. Sidney's arms are wrapped around his shoulders. "I'm sorry I overreacted. It happened two decades ago and it shouldn't bother me this much. But it did." Sidney continued.

"I know and for that I'm sorry. I will always be yours and you'll always be mines." Billy said. They two kissed. She pulls away leaning her forehead onto his. "I will never hurt you ever again."

"You better not. Stud-bucket." Sidney said calling Billy by the knick name she gave him. Billy smiled as the two kissed again.

Gale looked on happy that the two have reconciled. She only wished she and Dewey could have done the same. Her heart ached at the thought of this. She missed him deeply.

Back at the Carpenter house, Richie and Sam had talked for a bit and while they were talking, Tara's phone kept going off. She kept looking at it and receives an invitation from from Amber to attend her party. She doesn't answer. Richie wonders if she will go to the party.

"Who keeps texting you?" Sam asked.

"Amber." Tara responds. "So what happened with your meeting with Mr. Loomis?"

"We talked. He asked me about your friends." Sam said.

"Why?" Richie asked.

"Because he thinks one of them is the killer." Sam said. Both Richie and Tara looked at each other before looking back over at Sam. "We also talked about mom."

"What about mom?" Tara asked.

"He said that he and mom attended woodsboro high together but that mom was a grade under him. He explained that though he liked mom, he loved Sidney. Mom was just a friend with benefits." Sam said paraphrasing Billy's comments.

"Wow." Richie said.

"So what you're friends with him now?" Tara asked. "Seems like an asshole to me." Sam looks at him taking offense to that comment. A strange feeling to her.

"He's not an asshole. He's actually a pretty nice guy. A family man. I can see how much he cares about his family and friends. I mean he and his wife came all this way to see Gale after Dewey's death."

"Sounds like you care more about him than our father." Tara said. Sam shakes her head no. "Yeah, yeah. You're turning your back on the man who raised you in favor of the sperm donor."

"No. It's not like that Tara. I just found out that he's my biological father. All he wanted to do was talk to me. I'm not choosing Billy over our papi." Sam said. "I promise you I'm not ok?"

"Ok." Tara said. She can see the sincerity in Sam's face. She could also see how conflicted Sam was. On one hand, she was raised by Ben who is a good man. He's been there for her and Tara making sure to take care of his girls. On the other hand, she just learned that he was not her biological father and this hurt her. She didn't hate Billy cause she didn't know him well enough. All she and Billy did was talk. What came from their talk was the start of a relationship. Sam couldn't determine whether they relationship would be a father & daughter relationship or something else entirely. One thing was for sure, this was the least of their problems. They had to protect each other all the while finding out the killer's identity.
