Chapter Twenty-Eight: Christine & Sidney Talk

It's night time. Sidney, Billy and Gale had gotten a little hungry. Sidney was the designated go-for. She had driven to the cafe to get some dinner for the three of them. She had ordered Billy a burger with cheese, fries and a coke. She ordered a veggie plate with a vitamin water while Gale wanted a grilled cheese sandwich with a coke. She wasn't all that hungry considering the fact that she was still grieving over losing Dewey. Sidney and Billy insisted urging to keep up her strength. Sidney is at the counter waiting for the food.

Christine comes into the cafe having spent several hours looking for Ben. They had a bad argument right after learning he was not Sam's father. She felt guilty for dropping this bomb on him now but could not tell him back then. She had wanted desperately to tell both men the truth about Sam but couldn't bring herself to do it. She spots Sidney standing at the counter and knew that the two would have to talk at some point. Might as well get it over with now. She walked up to Sidney.

"Hey Sidney." Christine said as Sidney turned to her and frowned.

"What is it Christine?" Sidney asked not bothering to hide her anger towards her. Christine knew she was angry with her and expected it.

"I was hoping we could talk." Christine said.

"I don't have anything to talk to you about." Sidney said.

"Ok. I get it. Billy told you the truth. I just want to explain myself. Please can you let me talk to you?" Christine asked almost begging. Sidney sighed not really caring what she wanted to say.

"Fine." Sidney said as the two moved away from the counter the side so they could talk privately. "What is it?" She asked.

"I wanted to apologize for my part with Billy." Christine said. Sidney just looked away. "I'm not gonna lie to you, I did have a crush on him. I even thought of him leaving you for me but I ultimately realized that he loves you. He didn't want me. I was merely a distraction. I know how he feels about you because he chose you. I just wanted you to know that." She said to her.

You slept with my man. As mad as I am with both of you, I forgive you. Just as I forgave my husband." Sidney said as Christine nods. The silence was deafening. Then Christine thought about the whole ghost face situation and decided to ask Sidney some questions about it.

"Can I ask you something?" Christine asked. Sidney nods. "Was a person behind the ghost face mask someone you knew?"

"Yeah." Sidney said. Christine looks away worried and Sidney noticed this. "Do you trust Tara's friends?" She asked.

"Wes. He was the one friend I trusted the most because he was the sheriff's son and a good kid. I don't like Mike because he's an asshole." She said as Sidney chuckled. "Stacy is a bit loose in the caboose. If you get my drift." She continued as Sidney nods. "Nathan is a wanna be musician. David although he was a decent footballer wasn't the sharpest knife in the box. I hate Amber. She was Tara's ex. Then there's the Meeks'Martin twins."

"Twins? Martha had twins?" Sidney asked.

"Yes. Chad is a footballer and Mindy is a little lesbian and doesn't bother to hide it." Christine said. Sidney listened.

"So who do you think could be a killer?" Sidney asked.

"Personally, I think Amber could be one of the killers. I don't see Nathan being a killer because he's too into his music to kill anyone. Stacy sleeps around so I don't see her killing anyone. On the other hand Mike could be a killer cause he just creeps me the fuck out." Christine said.

"What about Chad and Mindy?" Sidney asked.

"No, I don't think so. Both of them are good kids. Never had a problem with them. It's sad because everyone treats them like they're just as guilty as their uncle was. Not to mention their older brother Zeke was also treated badly as well." Christine said as Sidney looked at her puzzled.

"Martha had a child before the twins?

"Yes. Zachary Meeks. Two different fathers. Martha must've had him while she was still in high school." Christine said. Sidney looked on.

"What about Sam's boyfriend?" Sidney asked.

"Richie. I don't know about him. He seems nice and has been very helpful but he could be acting this way to stay close to Sam." Christine said.

"ORDER FOR LOOMIS!" Yelled the cashier while holding Sidney's order. Both women turned around to see the cashier holding up the bags with the food Sidney had ordered. Both women stood up from the table.

"Thanks for talking to me Sidney. And again I'm sorry for everything." Christine said.

"No problem. Thanks for the information about possible ghost face suspects." Sidney said as Christine nods before turning to leave the cafe. Sidney paid the food and then left the cafe.

Gale and Billy are still in the hotel room going through the social media presence of Tara and her friends. Billy was looking at photos of Sam. He thought she was beautiful. He and Sidney weren't fortunate enough to birth a daughter and Sam is the closest he'd come. He was glad to have made up with Sidney because he loved her more than anything and couldn't imagine his life without her in it. He was glancing at photos of Sam with Richie and already his fatherly instincts were taking over. He didn't know Richie but didn't trust him. Something inside of him said to check his page. So he does.

Gale is getting increasingly frustrated. Since Dewey's death, she was completely off her game. She was trying to help solve these murders to honor him but she really didn't know who was under that god forsaken costume. She looked into each of Tara's friends' profiles but saw nothing out of the ordinary. She sighed deeply and Billy looked up at her.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"These fucking kids are boring as fuck." Gale cursed. Billy chuckled. "These pictures are boring. They're just posing in these stupid ass positions making duck faces with the peace sign. Since when the peace sign become famous again?" She asked complaining. Billy listened but was staring at photos of Sam and Richie. There were also pictures of her as a kid with Tara. "This Nathan kid is strumming his guitar signing some stupid song. Stacy is a playboy pin up wanna be model. There are pictures of Amber with random people including Tara."

"She's Tara's ex." Billy said.

"Really?!" Gale asked shocked.

"Yep." Billy asked.

"Wouldn't have guessed. Any luck on your end?" She asked.

"No. I've been checking out Sam's page trying to see if there's anything." Billy said as Gale looked up at him. She knew that he was Sam's biological father so it made sense that he'd be on her page.

"Anything on her page?" Gale asked.

"No. She's clean as is her boyfriend." Billy said. Gale smirked. "What?" He asked her.

"Nothing you just sound like a father with a daughter." Gale said.

"I am. I may not have raised Sam but I feel a connection to her. I felt it the moment I first saw her." Billy said. Gale listened. "What are your thoughts on the Meeks'Martin twins?"

"I was on their page. Chad plays football and Mindy is also into girls. I don't see them being killers. They have pictures of David and Wes. Liv has nothing but flirty selfies. But nothing." Gale said.

"These kids look absolutely normal." Billy said to her.

"Yeah that's the problem. It's a little too normal. It feels fake." Gale said.

"Social media always has a lot fake content on it. Most of what we see isn't real." Billy said.

"How do I get justice for Dewey?" Gale asked genuinely worried that the killer will get away with all the killings.

"You're worried the killer will get away with all the murders?" Billy asked her.

"Aren't you?" Gale asked. Billy shook his head no. "Why not?"

"Since when has a ghost face killer gotten a way with the murders?" He asked her. Gale didn't respond. "Never." Billy said. "Gale, we will find out who killed Dewey and the others. We will finish this. Ok?" He asked.

"Ok." Gale said. "Fuck this, let's find this fucker." She said Billy smiled. Both went back to looking at the profiles of Tara's friends.

"Hey we need more chips." Came the voice of a party goer.

Amber, Liv and Stacy head into the kitchen to prepare the snacks. The three are talking while doing so.

"What are we the snack hags?" Stacy complained as all three began to fill bowls with pretzels and chips. Amber and Liv laughed. "I mean Amber this is your party why are we on chip duty?"

"Cause we're the chip hags." Amber teased smirking. Stacy gave a sarcastic smirk on her face.

"I don't like that term "chip hags." It makes us seem old." Liv complained.

"What about Chip bitches?" Amber asked the three laughed at her obvious joke.

"So Amber is Tara coming?" Liv asked.

"Yeah but I had to invite her bitch sister and her boyfriend." Amber said. Stacy and Liv smirk

"So the plan is to sweet talk Tara into dating you again?" Stacy asked.

"Basically. I realize I messed up but she's my girl and I want her back" Amber said. "I just need to get her alone to talk."

"You think big sis Sam will allow that?" Liv asked as the three put more chips and bowls.

"She ain't gonna have a choice cause I'm gonna get someone to distract her." Amber said.

"Speaking of dates, Liv got a question for you?" Stacy asked.

"What?" Liv asked.

"What is the reason you won't go out with Chad?" Stacy asked. Amber looked on listening. Liv sighed deeply. She was tired of having to turning him down and defend herself when she did.

"Look, he's a nice guy but I'm just not attracted to him. It's just that simple." Liv said.

"Ok but you gotta admit he is cute." Stacy said.

"I said I'm not attracted to him. I didn't say he wasn't attractive." Liv said both Stacy and Amber looked on confused. "You can be attractive person and people not be attracted to you. There's a difference." She said.

"So what you're saying is that he's hot but you're just not into him?" Stacy asked.

"Exactly." Liv said as they exited the kitchen with five bowls of pretzels and chips.

"That shit sounds weird. He's attractive but you're not into him. Weird as fuck." Amber said.

"It's not that weird." Liv said. She stops and spots Mindy making out with a girl she likes. "Ok that's weird. And not for the reason you think."

"I know. It's not cause she's a lesbo. She's psycho." Stacy said as Liv and Amber smirked.

"Come get these chips bitches!" Amber said yelling to the party goers who all surround her taking the bowls. The party continues on.
