Bella POV
The school day goes by slowly. First, geometry, then world history, next anatomy, then mythology, lunch, english, art, and finally study hall. Titan, I can't wait to go home.
" Ugh, great. The stupid witch is back. Couldn't stay away, huh monster?" A nasally voice sneers. I growl and turn around to face Emma Jones, the human version of Boscha. Except Boscha's voice isn't nearly as unbearable. And Boscha never bothered me since she knew I could kick her ass into another dimension, literally.
" What do you want, Emma? And make it quick. I need to get to class." I hiss. Emma punches me square in the jaw. I bite back a growl, forcing my beast down where it can't escape me again.
" Prince, come." I mutter beneath my breath. My staff flies directly into my tiny hand and I smile. Lets do this, human.
" Aw, come on. Are you such a chicken that you won't fight me without your weird staff?" She snickers.
" Aw, are you so afraid of a staff? Come on! I thought you were the baddest bitch in school! Isn't that the bullshit you were spouting out yesterday in Geometry?" I spat. She growls a bit, but doesn't say a word. I watch as her stupid ass walks away. I think I heard her mumble 'whatever, stupid witch', but I'm not sure. I take Prince off my staff and kiss the little good boy on the head. He crawls up my arm and snuggles into my shoulder. Very good palisman.
I walk to anatomy with a contented sigh. Nobody asks about the bruise forming on the underside of my jaw. By now, I'm known for getting into fights with the cheerleaders. But, they don't expel me still. Probably because they know I don't start the fights, I just end them. I don't understand why none of them have gotten in trouble for their shit, though.
Emira POV
It's been five months since I saw Bella face-to-face. I wonder how she's doing. Since her possession, she's been so different. I never would've imagined that my sweet cousin would lose that bright eyed girl from her childhood. It never should've happened to her. She was too young to deal with that nightmare.
I bet that miss Eda would agree. She doesn't like kids that much, but she knew Charlie since they were little children at Hexside. She knew how hard it was for Charlie to abandon the demon realm for his daughter, but it was for the best. She was miserable here. Everywhere she turned she was faced with verbal assault for being a half witch.
Everyone in Bonesborough acts like she's some plague that they're scared to catch. There are only a tight handful of witches that see her for what she is, a kind, smart, beautiful young woman. She played a big role in stopping Emperor Belos, but most historians write her out of it, acting like she wasn't there at all. According to most history books in Belos's takeover, Hunter was the one who got possessed, not Bella. Actually, in one text she was depicted as some Belos-worshipping monster!
So, yeah, they pretty much turned her into my mom. The fucked up thing is that someone actually tried to arrest her for the bullshit lies that people have made up about her, and her mother was fine with it. I swear, I don't know what my uncle ever saw in that stupid, selfish bitch! It's a wonder that Bella hasn't flown off the handle and killed that woman yet!
Bella POV
The day drags on slowly and painfully. I haven't seen Emma for the rest of the day, which was really nice. I hate that she treats me like I'm some sort of monster! I know that I'm not like her, bit that doesn't make me a monster, does it?
No, I'm not a monster. Belos was a monster. My aunt Odalia is a monster. But me, no. I am no monster. I've never been a monster. I don't do the sort of awful things that monsters do.
If you wanted to, you could try to call King a monster for being a seven foot hairy demon with arms and legs as thick as tree branches and razor sharp claws in place of fingers and toes.
But he isn't a monster. Not really. Actually, King is a really sweet guy. He takes a lot of pride in the isles, and since he's the son of the isles, he has a lot of influence with the people. He makes sure that they people take care of the land, meaning that there is little to no litter, not very much pollution, and very little spills of toxic substances in the oceans.
Honestly, he's kind of a hero.
King POV
Bella has been living in the human realm for almost five years now. She left here to live in the human realm after Boscha's parents tried to have her arrested on a false charge, despite their daughters protests that they were acting like lunatics. I never thought that she'd actually stand up for Bella, but I guess even she saw how fucked up that was.
I think Bella was caught off guard by Boscha's desperation to keep Bella out of prison when she makes it super obvious how much she hates her allt the damn time.
What was really surprisingnwas when Boscha told Bella to call her if someone else tried to pin a crime on her, especially when it was something related to Belos and his reign. I never understood how they managed to stop hating each other so easily, but I'm glad they did. As Luz keeps saying, make cake not hate.
