Author's notes:

2021-06-23: Hey, I would like to show you a preview of the new story. It should be known by now that I have written quite a few texts regarding Akalynn; however, I feel like I need a bit of diversity in that field. The plot is not really set in stone by any mean, or at least not for now. I would like to treat this story as some sort of playground for me to have fun with words, styles, etc. I would really appreciate feedback :)

2021-06-28: Hey, sorry for the delay; however, I had things to deal with in my work. Still, I hope you'll end up liking the chapter. If not, please let me know.

W.A.S.P - Miss You

End of author's notes.

The ornate clock hanging above the kitchen counter loudly announced midnight. The disgustingly expensive apartment of KDA felt so peaceful. No… peaceful would not be a proper word to describe the atmosphere. The apartment felt so empty, lifeless. It had been only a couple of days since Evelynn and Ahri decided to take small holidays; both were absolutely infatuated by each other beyond appreciation. A strong sexual tension could have been felt between them; it needed to disappear quickly, really quickly.

The so-called 'dreamer' of the group sighed heavily. She felt as if she had been abandoned by everyone. It seemed that Akali had been, in fact, the heart and soul of KDA. When she decided to leave, everything fell apart as if a knocked stack of domino.

Truth be told, the ninja had her reasons to leave; Evelynn completely disregarded Ahri's warnings. The diva decided to play with Akali's feelings, hurting the girl severely in the process. Because of Evelynn's intoxicating nature and her literally oozing with sex appeal, the rapper only realised what was really going on months later. Still, the damage had been mostly done by this point; Akali wanted to leave; she had had enough of Evelynn for some time. That was who the whole KDA-breakup drama had been born. Thankfully, the burgundy-haired woman decided to act civilised and stated that she needed some time off to rethink her future. By some miracle, the press had bought that explanation.

Kai'sa missed the sometimes clueless rapper. She found it adorable, to some extent, intoxicating. Every time she learned about Akali's successes, the broadest, most genuine smile instantly appeared on her lips. What would she have given to have the girl back? That was the question causing frustration of the 'dreamer'.

The dark-haired dancer allowed herself to sigh heavily again. It had been almost a full year without Akali nearby. She could still remember the first couple of weeks after the girl's departure; they were an utter mess. The fights between Evelynn and Ahri seemed to be constantly occurring; the reasons behind some of them seemed absurd. The atmosphere became calmer with time; unfortunately, the fights still occurred from time to time.

Suddenly, her phone's screen flared up; an incoming call was displayed at the centre. And the caller… it was Akali. After an entire year without uttering a single word, the rapper was calling her. Some red alert fleshed inside her mind; however, it was quickly discarded. Without much thinking, she swiped the displayed bar to answer the call.

"Akali?" Kai'sa immediately spoke up, her voice filled with confusion and raw emotions.

"Yeah, it is me," a short reply was provided in a cool tone. "It has been a while since we talked the last time, has it not?" she added, allowing herself to chuckle. It was a rich sound pleasurable to witness.

"Far too long, if you asked me," the 'dreamer' replied immediately. "I missed you," she allowed herself to confess. "Anyways, why are you calling?"

"I decided to come back; I am coming home," the rapper uttered. "Of course, if you still want me to be there."

"Don't be silly… we'll always want you here," Kai'sa stuttered whilst responding. "When will you be here?" she asked.

"I am currently inside the cab; I can already see the penthouse. So… if my memory is not entirely rigged, I should be home in like a couple of minutes," the rapper responded.

"I'll start cooking something for you; you must be hungry," the dancer eagerly exclaimed.

"You have not changed a bit, Kai'sa," Akali chuckled. "You are still the KDA's mum."

"If you have called earlier, I'd have been able to prepare some ramen for you, tho," the 'dreamer' responded. "However, now it's not really a valid option; what would you like to eat, then?" she asked, heading toward the fridge.

"Do not bother preparing food, Kai," Akali softly giggled. "I will hit the nearest store; maybe that restaurant nearby will be open. If that was the case, I would buy something for you," the rapper offered.

"Ehh…," Kai'sa sighed heavily, considering the offer. "Kali, you know that I don't like buying fully prepared meals, don't you?" she asked.

"I know, I know," the ninja replied eagerly. "I will buy something healthy… and, maybe you will allow me to help you in the kitchen tomorrow?"

"How could I refuse such a generous offer," the dancer allowed herself to giggle. "Fine, don't worry about me; buy whatever you feel like, I'll have the same," she added.

"Noted," Akali uttered immediately. "I will be in a few; see you soon, Kai," the rapper bid her farewell before hanging up.

"You're still such a dork, Akali," the 'dreamer' allowed herself to whisper once the channel had been closed.

To say that the dark-haired woman was surprised with how the events unfolded would be a monumental understatement. It would be easy enough to believe that someone above took pity on the dancer and pulled some strings, changing the lines of fate. Just a few moments ago, she was regarding the emptiness of the penthouse, and suddenly, the long lost member of KDA was set to return. Akali was set to return to the band; what was far more important, she was about to return to her.

For a couple of moments, the dark-haired dancer did not really know what to do with herself. Should she prepare something light for them, some sort of a starter? Frankly, she was not entirely sure. Her thoughts seemed to be chaotic, out of her usual rhythm. As if out of pure desperation, she started going back and forth. What was she supposed to do? How should she prepare herself for Akali return? Unfortunately, Kai'sa did not know the answers to these question. That sad fact only further fueled her confusion, desperation even maybe.

After some time, she ended up standing in front of the body-sized mirror. The long-legged dancer curiously regarding her frame, her clothing. She must have put on some weight; she felt uncomfortable in shorts and a tank top revealing her stomach. She wasn't fat by any means; however, her defined abs vanished. The unfortunate effect of the lack of proper training. Maybe… just maybe, Akali would be able to help her with that.

Fully aware that she was alone in the spacious apartment, she quickly stripped off of her clothes. In her eyes, she still looked decently; however, it was not the form she got used to. The woman's wardrobe's content was being scanned deep inside her mind. After all, she needed to pick something causal yet not revealing. Kai'sa was more than sure that Akali was in form; she possibly even got bulkier. It was so ridiculous to compare herself to the rapper, yet here she was. The dancer doubted herself. After all, it had been a couple of lazy months for her and the rest of the KDA. Their usual routine had not been maintained once the ninja had left.

"It's so stupid," Kai'sa allowed herself to complain. "Why do I even doubt myself; I'm a full-grown woman that men and women desire. What's wrong with me?" she continued to ask herself questions she did not know the answers for.

In the end, her mental discussion took more than a couple of minutes. Kai'sa nearly jumped when she realised that she had been standing half-naked for that long. Without wasting a moment more, she ran toward her room. It would not be an understatement if she said that she nearly damaged her wardrobe. The strength she had put into the pull of the wings had caused a loud crank. However, the 'dreamer' cared little to no about that minor detail. The pieces of clothing started to be thrown away whilst the angry dancer was searching for something suitable in her mind. Finally, after some time, the proper clothing had been found. She decided to wear yoga pants, a plain casual black tee, and a thin, sleeveless sweater.

The loud ringtone of her phone brought her to reality. She must have left it in the kitchen, was the initial thought of the KDA dancer. Without much thinking, she once again ran toward the kitchen. With the reborn confidence, she felt much better.

It was just a matter of a few short moments before she reached her phone.

"Kai'sa here; how can I help?" she uttered to the device, not even checking who was calling.

"Would be lovely if you let me in," Akali's voice sounded. "I do not know the current access code, and I am stuck in front of the glass doors," she added.

"Kali, gosh," Kai'sa gasped. "I'm unlocking them for you; give me a sec," the dancer added."

"Not a problem," the rapper giggled. "Your breathing is ragged; something has happened?" she asked.

"Nothing important," the 'dreamer' swiftly lied. "I've left my phone in the kitchen and had to run from my room to pick it up," she offered a brief explanation.

"Bookie returning to her very first nickname, I see," Akali allowed herself to joke. "The 'dreamer' has returned."

"You could say that; I'm pretty sure it's a valid statement," the dark-haired dancer responded, smiling slightly. "The doors should open up," she informed the rapper a moment later.

"Yeah, I am through," the ninja confirmed. "I should be home in a few, see ya," she added before hanging up.

It would be safe to say that the hyped 'dreamer' could no longer stay in the same place. Without an ounce of hesitation, she headed toward the entrance to the apartment. Even through the walls, she could hear Akali's steps, or it was just her galloping heart. Who would have been to say what the right assumption was?

In a matter of moments, the door ring sounded, announcing the return of the ninja. She could have sworn that she heard a soft, muffled bark; however, in her current state, it would be challenging to convince anyone to her perspective.

Without hesitation, she opened the door. In front of her, slightly older Akali stood. The ninja was holding an adorable german shepherd puppy inside her arms. Her suitcase and the food was left on the floor behind her. The once burgundy-haired girl was rubbing the puppy, playing with it.

"Hey," Kai'sa uttered without confidence.

"Hey, Bookie," Akali greeted her with enthusiasm. "I hope you do not mind my new friend?" she pointed out at the dog. "He resembled you so much that I could not have done anything else than taking him with me," she added, giggling.

"Welcome home, Kali," the dancer responded after a moment or so. "I've missed you," she added in a whisper-like manner.

"I missed you too," the rapper replied with a broad smile, eyes fixed on top of Kai'sa. "Mind helping me with the food? Our new friend prefers to be in the very centre of attention; funnily enough, I think I know such a person already," she added, chuckling.

"But, of course," the 'dreamer' uttered. "I'm glad to have you back."
