Kagome woke up with a jolt. She was being held tightly. One hand in her shirt cupping her breast and a head of silver hair draped across her back. The night had not gone as expected for Sesshomaru. He had intended to quietly take what he
wanted. But the noise of the house and the pointed intrusion led them to fool around, a little, before succumbing to sleep.
"Sesshomaru, I gotta get up to take the boys to school," she said and tried to sit up but was stopped. He grasped her tighter when she tried to move.
"I want to finish the discussion we were having last night," he said and kissed the back of her neck and shoulders. She felt her heart accelerate, she grasped the hand that still cupped her breast and was about to turn when they heard the door of the house
open and then Kogas' surprised exclamation.
"Who are you?" He demanded, waking the whole house.
Sesshomaru groaned and sat up. "this is not over," he warned and she let her head hit the pillow again not bothered by his frustration.
He went to the living room around all of the opened doors and heads peering
down the hall, Koga was in a fighting stance his fists raised, and the little man sitting up
from the couch held a Glock.
"Jakken put your weapon down, this is Koga," he yawned and Koga looked at him with some surprise.
"If that's Jakken…" he looked around hurriedly and froze when he heard the delighted voice of the blood moon maiden.
"Is that Koga?" Himori asked and Sesshomaru waved her in.
"Yes. He has missed you terribly," Sesshomaru mocked him and Koga gave him a fearful look.
"Oh I don't doubt it, since Sesshomaru is heading to work I thought you might help me with a job here in the city.
Koga nearly screamed. The last time he was nearly killed and as he was about to make an excuse as to why that was just not possible, Sesshomaru stepped in.
"That's a good idea, we had a new shipment of goods arrive this week he will
show you our inventory and accompany you today," Sesshomaru was nearly glowing with amusement.
"Why are you doing this?" He hissed and Sesshomaru scoffed.
"I keep telling you, knock before you enter my home," he said and Koga growled.
"I've never knocked before! Why start now?" He said and Sesshomaru nodded
"Exactly. Perhaps this will be reason enough," he crossed his arms hearing the delighted chatter from his mom.
"We are so NOT even!" He said as Jakken stared at them
"Does this mean I can go with you?" Jakken asked Sesshomaru.
He looked at the small man and shrugged. "You might as well," he said and Koga looked at him betrayed.
"You replaced me so easily."
Himori insisted on making breakfast. Kagome didn't mind and shepherded the boys through their morning routine.
"What are you doing today Kagome?" Himori asked and she came to the place she stood at the kitchen counter.
"Oh, when the boys leave I will be heading to work. I just transferred to the day shift," she said and Himori was impressed
"What do you do?" She asked and Kagome smiled.
"I'm an LPN at Tokyo Hospital, I'm about to graduate from he nurses program at the university and will become an Rn in a few weeks," she explained and Himori smiled.
"That's good work. Ah I am also working today, not doing anything like that but I will most likely stop in during your shift," she said and Kagome nodded.
"Okay, just have someone page me to let me know you're there. It gets a bit hectic there," she said and Himori nodded.
"Of course."
Inuyasha was first to emerge dressed in his uniform. Himori doted on him a bit and when Souta came out too she admired how handsome they were. Kagome noticed that Himori treated Souta as if he were already a part of the family.
"Okay, time to go. Be safe when you're walking," she said and hugged each of them before they left.
"They are so cute. Makes you want one of your own doesn't it?" Himori said casually and Kagome blushed and said nothing. "Well, I'm off, see you later." She said and then Himori looked towards the living room. "Koga let's go," she said and the dark-haired man came to attention.
"Yes, Boss," he stammered and Kagome smirked as he left behind her.
Himori had Koga drive her into the warehouse district.
"So what are we doing today?" He asked nervously. She had put on her black leather gloves and let the deadening of her sharp eyes rest on the horizon. She looked absolutely terrifying.
"My assignment will be difficult today, I cannot say who but you will most likely see the headlines later," she said and Koga swallowed down the fear still threatening to come up.
"I see, well we're here," he said parking and getting out to open her door. The woman waved him away and stepped past him with some venom.
"Show me these new acquisitions, I will choose what I want and then we can get to the real job," she hissed and Koga jerked back startled.
"Yes Ma'am!" He went to the door and worked at the code fumbling a few times before jerking the door back and letting her in.
Her stilettos clicked as she walked through the dark warehouse and to the single bulb of light that showed over the room. Even in the shadows, he could see cruelty etched into every inch of her porcelain face. She went through the first crate and grinned much to Kogas' dismay.
"Here take this one, you will need it. I will take this," she threw him a handgun and clip while she chose a much smaller gun and placed it in her bag. He groaned wondering what trouble she was up to, especially dressed as if she were attending the country club.
Her amused eyes found his and she knew he wondered about the day ahead of them. "Don't worry little wolf, I will make sure you get to go home to whatever prostitute home you're living at," she said and Koga winced
"I'm not doing that anymore…. I met someone," he said defensively.
"Oh yeah? another idol, or perhaps this time a waitress," she mocked him and Koga folded his arms.
"There is nothing wrong with waitressing, but no. I met one of Kagome's friends a while back. She's so cute I can't stand it," he gushed and Himori rolled her eyes.
"Does Kagome know what you're up to?" She asked and Koga shook his head.
"I haven't told her," he said and Himori turned and walked back to the car.
"Great, it's the second day I know her and you already have me lying," she said and Koga gasped.
"Just don't say anything, there is no lying if she just doesn't ask," he said and he was met with a slammed door. "Good going Koga, you had to say something," he said and got into the driver's seat.
Sesshomaru allowed Jakken to drive him to the office. Dressed for business, he went into the brokerage and was greeted politely by a few of the other stockbrokers in the building. Jakken followed him, the atmosphere of the office was dull. The office spaces were minimal, phones ringing off the hook and Sesshomaru was immediately immersed in meetings.
Jakken didn't mind making phone calls or managing his schedule, and he liked managing the visitors as they waited for their consultation.
He stood by during one appointment. The man waiting was a banker. The shrewd stare wavered to Jakken as he greeted him and showed him inside.
Sesshomaru locked eyes on the man and indicated that he should sit in the open chair in front of the dest.
"Mr Tanaka sit," he said and Tanaka went to the chair as instructed.
"Yes, thank you for seeing me," he answered and Jakken watched the meeting as if seeing a play.
Sesshomaru drew the blade of his wit, and the baker tried to dodge the questions but yielded under the weight of Sesshomaru's strength. He didn't have a chance and as he walked out Sesshomaru thanked him for the generous purchase. Jakken looked at Sesshomaru with some envie
"Does Koga do this job as well?" He asked and Sesshomaru nodded.
"He doesn't look the type but the man makes a killer assistant," he smirked and Jakken folded his arms.
"It's not fair, I get swept into your mother's madness and he gets to be a secretary," Jakken was genuinely upset and Sesshomaru stopped him before he returned to the small desk outside his office
"He also does my dirty work, remember, a different job does not make it a better job," he warned and stood. "It's time to go and see the men," he said.
Jakken regretted the comparison after they arrived at the secluded headquarters of the inu demon gang. The men greeted their boss with cheers, he liked that. But as soon as Sesshomaru began walking through the groups of men gambling and drinking beer, he turned and addressed them.
"It's come to my attention that you all have become soft. So I am going to recondition you to the standard that we as a group embody." He clapped his hands together once and they came to attention. "First every morning you must all run at least five miles. I want to see you all lifting weights and if I ask one of you to shoot the eye of a falcon out I want to see precision and accuracy. Am I understood?" He said and then saw the disbelief on all of their faces.
"Seriously boss?" Bonkatsu asked and Sesshomaru motioned for jakken to come over.
"Do you have any coins?" He asked and Jakken withdrew three. "Throw them into the air," he said and as Jakken tossed them, Sesshomaru withdrew his weapon and shot three perfect holes in the middle of the coins. The eyes of his men widened. All of them looked at their boss with some apprehension. "Five miles. Now," he barked.
Kagome didn't find much time to sit down today at work. The emergency room was jam-packed with hurt and ailing people. Going from one room to another she checked vials. Started EKGs for those who hadn't arrived by ambulance and attended one patient after another until her work phone buzzed in her pocket.
"Kagome," she said and she heard the CNAs voice. She recognized it as the one at the front desk today.
"You have a visitor," she said and Kagome gave her an estimated time and let the other LPN know she would be taking a break.
"Sure thing Kagome. See you in a few," she said and Kagome left the red-haired woman in charge of her patient.
Walking through the hallway to the lobby Kagome was surprised to see Himori standing next to Koga who held an icepack to his head and looked like he'd been in an explosion. Upon discovery, she went to them and inspected the burns on Kogas' arm and face.
"What happened?" She asked surprised
"Oh nothing, he just helped me with something small," Himori said, waving Koga towards the check-in station and Kagome nodded, watching him with some alarm.
"Okay, how are you?" She asked not, seeing anything out of the ordinary with her.
"Oh perfect. He took me to the garden house, the new salad bar in the business district. It was great and then I went shopping and found some shoes!" She gushed and Kagome inspected the designer heels and nodded impressed.
"Those look great," she said and Himori smiled.
"I thought you would like them so I got some for you too," she said and presented her with a box. Kagome thanked her.
"I was just taking a break. Would you like to sit with me for lunch?" She asked and watched the woman smile.
"I'd love that. You know I've never liked any of Sesshomaru's girlfriends, never, but there is something about you that I like. Do you mind if I ask you a question?" She asked and Kagome walked with her into the cafeteria. She got a small salad and sat down with Himori.
"Go ahead," she nodded.
"Well I noticed that you don't seem to be afraid of me," she said and Kagome smiled.
"Was there a question?" She asked and Himori nodded
"Why aren't you afraid of me?" She asked and Kagome laughed.
"Well I can tell you're a bit intense, but honestly no more than my old instructor, it's funny but you remind me of him, in a good way. He is tough on the outside but I know that secretly he's just a big softie," she said and Himori furrowed her brows.
"You think I'm a softie?" She asked and Kagome eyed her.
"You visited, brought the boys a gift that's way too expensive, and have only asked me questions regarding my and Sesshomaru's relationship, I assume to know if he is getting the best. It's pretty sweet actually." She said and Himori blushed.
"I am not sweet," she replied and Kagome held up the box
"I love the shoes by the way. Now we can match when we go out for dinner later," she said and Himori perked up.
"You're both going to take me out for dinner?" She asked and Kagome shook her head.
"I thought just the two of us would be fun!" She said and Himori grasped her hands
"Where have you been all of my life? I always wanted a daughter. Oh, when Sesshomaru went through his long hair stage I thought he'd be enough but this is what I wanted all along." She said and it was Kagome's turn to blush.
"Hey, Kagome who's your friend?" Kagome froze when she heard this particular voice. She made a face that said 'Why today of all days' and turned a fake smile to the doctor.
"Oh Hojo, so nice to see you this is-" Kagome could not finish because Himori stood up and asserted herself then.
"I am her mother-in-law, what can we do for you," she said with cutting eyes. Kagome looked at her. The sharp tone surprised her but not so much as the fear written on Hojo's face
"Mother-in-law? I didn't know you were married though I had heard you were dating someone," he stammered trying to look at Kagome and not the terrifying eyes of the silver-haired woman beside her.
"Oh it's just a matter of time," Himori waved her hand at the inconvenient truth and Kagome saw the doctor take a step back.
"I see, well it's been nice catching up, your break is nearly over by the way," he pointed out and Himori stepped closer.
"Are you telling me to leave?" She demanded and Hojo nearly doubled over trying to run away
"No, ma'am! Take as much time as you like!" She said and Kagome tried to stifle the laugh that threatened to further humiliate him.
Hojo blushed red at the stifled laughter and she knew it would be hell working with him for the rest of her shift.
"Himori-"
"Call me Mom," Himori insisted.
Kagome swallowed the feeling of sadness at the word and nodded.
"My break ended I have to go back," she said and Himori nodded
"I'll see you afterward," she said and Kagome nodded watching her go back toward the waiting room
When Kagome returned to her station the nurses were talking. She watched them stop at the sight of her and groaned "What are you all talking about?" She said and was met with a few grins and some snickering.
"So, what about this fiance of yours? It hasn't been that long but we see you getting picked up from work. Hojo said that your mother-in-law was terrifying," one of them perked up and Kagome clenched her fist.
"Alright enough about my personal life!" she said, hearing the responding whispering.
When Kagome returned she had taken Koga with her from the ER. He was taken through triage and they had determined that he had 1st-degree burns and a mild concussion. She thanked Hakkaku for the ride, noticing he was more tired than usual, and helped Koga through the door of her home.
The boys were there playing their video games in two different rooms and shouting back and forth.
"Hey, I'm back." She said and helped Koga to the couch he slumped into the cushions and groaned as she let him go.
"That woman is the devil," he hissed and Kagome didn't doubt it.
"You have to stay awake. The only reason they let you go was because I told them you were staying with us," she said and Koga nodded.
"Fine, but tell the Boss he owes me big for this one. We are not even!" He said and Kagome smiled, shaking her head before going to the boys and asking them to quiet down. They groaned but decreased the volume by half. Kagome watched Taeko jump off of Inuyasha's bed and was his fluffy tail before coming over to greet her.
She scratched his ears and walked to the bedroom where she put her scrubs in the hamper and sat down tiredly. She leaned back and closed her eyes. She heard the front door open again and then Sesshomaru's greeting. Koga groaned an insult at him and she heard his footsteps coming down the hall. The door opened.
She did not look to know he would come over. And felt his weight move the bed when he sat down.
"How was your day?" She asked, peering at him now. He laid down beside her and pulled her to his chest. He looked frustrated. With a kiss, his eyes turned molten.
"Good, and yours? He asked and turned over so that he could look down on her flushed face.
Did you see Koga?" She asked and he replied.
"Hn," he lowered enough to kiss her neck and shoulder around the strap of her tank top. She sighed and grasped a handful of his hair. He liked the feel of her pulling gently on it and she felt his hands work at the hem of her shirt.
"That's how my day went. Himori visited me at work, she brought me a pair of really cute shoes but ended up scaring the entire staff, they are calling her the dragon mom," she said whispering lest Himori hear through the walls. He snorted and pulled her tank top off her in a single motion. Kagome felt the chill of the autumn air on her chest and gasped.
His hands worked on her touching her and kissing her stomach and chest
"How accurate," he said and continued as he was. Kagome felt the familiar pull of pleasure and could not stop herself from trying to work the buttons on his shirt. She gave up and he felt her frustration and pulled back to do it himself. When she could touch his marble chest he lifted himself enough to grip her under the shoulders and place her in the center of the bed.
He found her lips with his own trying to balm the frustration of the day with her sweet kiss. At once her arms came around him. Pulling him closer he noticed her ferver and was happy to receive everything she offered as her hands grasped his shoulders and ran through his hair. The day melted away in her arms. "Umm looking forward to continuing where we left off last night," he murmured against her neck. He bit down softlyshe frowned knowing he would be disappointed to stop again. She gasped and worked the buttons of his. She stopped talking to admire his granite chest and the tattoos she saw along his collarbone.
"I really wish we could, but I'm going out," she said as he descended once more. He barely heard her words as his hands and lips moved across her chest and stomach. When he realized what she had said he stopped.
When he moved back from her and brought her to his chest she was content to stay there, for a little while.
"Where are you going?" He asked. She blushed looking at his perfect body and confused eyes. He was glowing with contentment and she almost hated to mess this up.
"Well, Himori and I are going out tonight. Which means you have the boys…." She said and he looked at her then and his expression changed from confusion to worry.
"You are doing what?" He asked alarmed.
"Well we had such a good time I thought it would be fun to go out," she said and Sesshomaru sat up fully.
He was more alarmed than surprised when he saw that she was serious. "Are you insane?!" he said and Kagome scoffed.
"It won't be that bad!" She shook her head.
"You don't know that!"
"We will be fine, don't be silly," she said and Kagome stood and grabbed her tank top to put it back on and went to the door. Sesshomaru was at her heel.
"Don't go! You don't know what she's capable of," he said and Kagome crossed her arms.
"Then I'm sure we will be fine," she laughed and Kagome went into the bathroom and shut the door. He looked at the closed door and growled. He turned on his heel and went to where he knew his mother was in Soutas room.
"Mother! What do you think you're doing?" He demanded. Himori was sitting on the bed cleaning her handgun and putting it into her purse. She glanced down at his partially dressed state and smirked knowing what he'd been up to.
"What do you mean, I'm just getting ready to go out with Kagome,"
"What is that? Are you working?!" He was outraged looking at the handgun.
"Why are you talking to me like this, aren't I your mother?" She asked, offended.
"Bring her home in one piece or I will have to do something about it," he said and Himori stopped.
"You think you could?" She leveled with him. Sesshomaru felt the aura of darkness rise up and was too outraged to care.
"I will. Do not disappoint me, Mother," he warned and Himori smiled.
When Kagome got out of the shower and got dressed she felt Sesshomaru hovering over her. He muttered angrily that she was going. He stood by until she went out of the room and waited in the living room.
Himori and she gathered their things and went to the door.
Kagome felt a sense of excitement as she went to the car. Hakkaku was driving them. Himori gave him the destination. Kagome was not surprised to find it one of the trending dinner destinations in that part of town and her excitement renewed.
Hakkaku nodded quickly. He had his phone in hand, as he was instructed to report everything they did. His boss was in the line listening for any hint of trouble as Hakkaku drove through the city to the restaurant.
"It's been ages since I was here last," Himori said and waited for Hakkaku to open the door for them. Himori took a breath of fresh air and waited for Kagome to come to her side.
"I have never been here, I'm excited to see what they prepare," she smiled and Himori noticed the possessive mark on her neck. She remembered the way her son had barged in on her and knew for sure what he'd been up to.
"My son is so busy with work he forgets to do things like other people," she said grasping Kagome's arm and leading her into the space.
Kagome smiled at the action and allowed herself to be pushed through the entrance and to the host who then took them to an exclusive table by the water feature. Kagome looked around impressed and realized her first fancy date was with her boyfriend's mom. She shook her head at the thought and looked up as the waiter came over
Himori ordered for them both in perfect French and smiled at her with some amusement. "Tell me about you Kagome. You're a nurse, a student, and a full-time guardian of your brother. What else?" She asked pressing into the idea that she was more than she appeared.
"Well, I enjoy wine, hiking, and being athletic. I was on the track team in high school and have trained in a few different sports since."
"Have you? That is exciting, are you any good?" She asked and Kagome laughed at the comment.
"I couldn't be sure, in some things yes in others no," Kagome shrugged and Himori liked that answer.
"And you're humble, if I didn't know any better I would think you're in politics and not medicine," she said and Kagome eyed her.
"Well I want to know something too," she said and Himori nodded
"That's fair, what is it?" She asked and Kagome looked up as the waiter arrived. He set down two wine glasses.
"I want to know why you are here, for real, I know what he does, but there are a lot of things that don't add up. So what do you do," she asked and Himori stopped and wondered about the change in the woman's eyes. There was an edge to her that had not been there before.
"I see, I guess an honest question deserves an answer. Kagome do you see that man over there," she pointed and Kagome nodded seeing the gentleman in the red she had indicated.
"I am keeping an eye on him for my employer, I am a simple investigator and that is all," she said, Kagome doubted it but nodded as if she had accepted it.
"Oh, well I appreciate your honesty," she said and Himori realized she had seen through her lie
"let's drink, I think this has breathed long enough," she said and took a sip. "If you will excuse me I must use the little girl's room," she stood. Her expensive clothes and sweet smile were disarming and Kagome watched her walk through the restaurant to the man's chair and stumble on her heels.
The man stood to catch her and with a thankful nod, Himori adjusted her clothes and went on.
Two minutes later the man began to choke, he seized and seeing him Kagome stood and went to where he was.
"Someone call the ambulance this man is in cardiac arrest," she said loudly. The restaurant moved into action and Kagome began to work.
When Himori returned she looked at the scene not expecting Kagome to be taking control of the situation. "What happened?" She asked and Kagome shot her a look.
"Call the ambulance," she said and Himori got out her cell phone.
The ambulance arrived shortly and she was there administering chest compressions when the EMTs arrived. She recognized one of them and stood to give him the information he needed.
"He began the episode about ten minutes ago," she finished and the EMT brought in the gurney and moved the man. When he was gone the restaurant applauded Kagome and she nodded not knowing how else to react and went back to their seat.
"Miss, thank you for helping. Your food is in the house." The waiter was there with another bottle of wine and he set it down for them.
"Wow, I didn't expect you to act so quickly," Himori said and took another sip of wine.
"All in a day's work," she said and went back to eating.
As they finished their meal Kagome and Himori had fallen back into easier conversation, the incident was in the past after all and the man was in his way to emergency care.
"You really impressed me today. Do you want to ditch the stuffy driver and go for a walk?" Himori asked and Kagome looked at her
"Why?" She asked and Himori smiled.
"Oh I think I'd be fun," she said and Kagome sighed.
"Alright but if Sesshomaru asks I'll tell him you had the idea," she warned and Himori shrugged.
"Tell him whatever you like, I am not worried about him," she scoffed and then stood. "We'll come on, miss hero, I see a perfect distraction," she said and Kagome watched Hakkaku turn away through the window Himori used that moment to stand and grab Kagome's hand. "Let's go!" She said and Kagome put a tip down for the waiter.
When they walked into the dining twilight of the city Himori took a breath and they began walking down the sidewalk. She looked to elegant to be walking. Kagome was a little more casual but next to the designer clothes and perfect hair, no one saw her.
Kagome felt a presence at their back as soon as they broke through the busy street and turned down a side street.
Her hand itched for the knife in her purse and engaged with Himori who hadn't seemed to notice it.
"Why do you like me so much?" She asked and Himori laughed.
"It was your cooking that wine me over, I was about to tear you a new one for being so ordinary and then you impressed me. You can always tell what kind of person it is when you see their cooking. Yours was magnificent." She said and Kagome nodded.
"I appreciate it, I worked hard on these recipes," she said and Himori eyed her.
"It was your knife skills that impressed me," she said and stopped. Kagome looked at her feeling the presence approaching and then she saw two men step into the light from the alley and Himori appeared surprised. "Oh my it looks like we have been cornered," she said and Kagome nearly shouted at her.
"We can still get out," she tried but Himori shook her head and turned to the two creepy men.
"You're in over your head lady, we see that you're rich. Now give us your things and we might let you go," he leered at her, and Kagome and Himori grabbed onto Kagome's arm.
"Oh no, Kagome what are we going to do," she looked afraid and Kagome looked around. They truly were cornered.
"Just get away from us," she said and they barked with laughter. She could see the emblem of a spider on their arms tattooed and knew they were in trouble.
"You don't get it, give us your things and we might not hurt you, but I can't speak for my friend here," the man was leering hard at Himori. His eyes were pure violence and Kagome felt her stomach start to twist.
"I don't want to hurt you but I will if I have to," she said and Himori glanced at her wondering what she would do. Kagome bent to pick up a stone. And the men laughed.
"What are you going to do?" He taunted her and got closer. As he took a step towards him Kagome let the rock fly and struck him between the eyes.
"Good one now use that knife you've been hiding," she said and conveniently stumbled forward and was caught by the bigger man who grabbed her and hauled her off of her feet.
Kagome realized she was being tested, the men were serious but Himori had let herself be taken to test her and Kagome clenched her fist around the hilt of the knife in her bag.
"I don't want to hurt you, let her go now and we can all go home," she said and the man on the ground groaned holding his forehead.
"Let's kill this bitch," he hissed and then stood to grab her. Kagome unsheathed the weapon and sliced twice as he came into reach. He yelled and she felt blood spray on her face.
The man dropped though Kagome was precise he would not die from his wound but it had slowed him down.
Himori laughed aloud as Kagome flung the knife from her hand and into the man's arm as it grasped Himori. He screamed and Himori slipped from his grasp, taking the knife with her and walking back to Kagome. "Very impressive, I thought I saw the taint of bloodlust on you," she said and Kagome gasped.
"That's not me!" She insisted and Himori scoffed.
"These skills are not for sport," she said and the big man grabbed her again. Himori turned the knife and stabbed him critically. There was only a small gasp before Himori stepped away and flicked the blade down freeing the metal from the blood droplets.
Kagome was flabbergasted. "You made me defend you from thugs to test my skills?" She breathed and Himori shrugged and gave her a handkerchief to clean the blood from her face. Kagome took it.
Hakkaku slid into the alley as they were cleaning up. Kagome called in to the emergency response anonymously and they looked up at him. " The boss is going to kill me for this!" He shouted and Kagome shook her head.
"It wasn't your fault," she said and he stepped aside and Sesshomaru swept into the alley. He looked down at the two men and then up at his mother.
"You heard what I said! I didn't stutter," he said angrily and went to Kagome. He checked her for injury and turned angry eyes on his mother. "No doubt you did this!" He said and Kagome started to speak when Himori stepped forward
"You caught me," she said and he glared
" You swore that you wouldn't get into trouble," he said and Kagome started to say something. "don't defend her! mother, you have to leave," he said and Kagome could see the irritation in Himori's eyes.
She nodded. "Fine, I'll have Jakken get my things. She said sharply and he nodded.
"Good idea. Kagome, are you okay?" He asked raising her chin to look at her neck and the droplets of blood that sprayed her neck and shirt.
She looked at the retreating back of his mother and then looked back at Kagome.
"I told you it wasn't a good idea," he said.
