AN: Arven is here.
The Pokemon presents dropped a lot ; hopefully, people got what they wanted and were surprised.
Pokemon is not mine.
As the small group approached the lighthouse, they noticed someone was already there. The person, identifiable as a student from the academy due to their scarlet pants and sizeable yellow-green backpack, heard the group's arrival and turned to face them. Upon turning, the student revealed himself to be an approximately eighteen-year-old male with teal eyes and blond-brown shoulder-length hair. He wore a violet tie and a blue vest and had an annoyed expression that turned to rage when he saw the dragon Pokemon.
"Why that little." the student growled as he stomped over, clenching his hands. "What are you doing out here?"
"So she's yours then," Cecilia asked despite knowing that the male's ire would transfer to her and Agrvain would intervene if needed.
"Shove off. This doesn't concern you three," the male student said in a slightly softer tone. He probably did see them but only acknowledged them once Cecilia spoke.
' He's friendly. ' Agravain muttered sarcastically.
"Wait, aren't you Arven Sada-Turo?" Nemona asked once she got a good look at the student. "You're in the humanities courses and live in the dorms."
' Turo? ' Cecilia blinked; that second part of Arven's last name sounded more familiar than the first part. Looking at Agravain showed that the Zarude thought the same but was having trouble remembering more than that.
"Aren't you Professor Antonio Turo's son," Nemona added. "You know, the Pokemon researcher and professor." At this point, a look of clarity appeared on Agravain's face.
' Your father knew him and even worked with him for a few years .' the Zarude explained. ' Before he seemed to drop off the map.'
"My father doesn't matter," Arven snarled, facing them. It was apparent his parents, or at least his father, were a sore subject.
Cecilia could understand that very well. "You're right; he doesn't matter," she said, surprising Arven.
"Why is this Pokemon here, and what is with this form?" Arven asked with hands on his hips.
Cecilia pulled out her phone to show Arven her pictures. "That is the question everyone is asking right now," she said. "I met her at the bottom of the cliff when she looked like this. She also saved me from a pack of Houndoom while in this form." Cecilia showed Arven the picture she had taken.
"We heard a cry and found this Pokemon," Nemona added to the story. "she wore herself out after saving Cecilia."
Agravain stayed silent as no one but Cecilia would understand him. Instead, he stayed by the other Pokemon and shared his berries with them.
"Cecilia suspects that whatever this Pokemon is, it's related to Cyclizar like Diancie is to Carbink." Nemona continued, "As well as unbelievably strong."
"Not sure who Diancie is, but it is strong. It could even beat that Zarude, but this form is not suited for battle." Arven agreed with Nemona and turned to look at the Pokemon, seeing a problem. Cecilia thought it funny that while Arven knew what a Zarude was, Diancie was unknown.
' I won't like him just because he knows what I am, ' growled Agravain. His trainer petted him to calm down.
"When Koraidon battles, it is in its true form," Arven muttered.
"So your name is Koraidon," Cecilia remarked as she petted the newly named Pokemon. She disregarded Arven's pronoun preference.
"How do you know her name?" Nemona asked. She noticed Arven gave the name without any prompting.
Koraidon walked confidently towards the lighthouse, knowing it was a haven.
"It's locked; you can't go in." Arven scolded the Pokemon like an older sibling or parent. He then turned to Cecilia to continue their conversation, "Your uniform resembles the school's, so I'm assuming you're new here."
"I am new and starting today," Cecilia confirmed.
"Koraidon is a special Pokemon, not a run-of-mill one like around here," Arven explains, falling his arms in a thinking pose. "Not any trainer can handle it."
"How is it special?" Nemona asked, her curiosity overtaking her annoyance at not being answered. Cecilia just listened to Arven's explanation.
Arven did not want to answer Nemona or chose not to answer her at all. "First, who is Zarude's trainer?"
"That would be me," Cecilia realized what Arven would say without using aura.
"You can't order Koraidon around just because you have a mythical Pokemon," Arven said. "Let's battle to see if you're worthy."
Cecilia sighed heavily and then looked at Agravain. "Do you want to battle now or later?"
' Later '
Cecilia asked, "Will it be one-on-one or more?" She added, "I have five Pokemon, including my Zarude."
"One-on-one is fine," Arven said with a slight smile. "You're not much of a go-getter, are you?"
"Battling is not my cup of tea, as the Galarians say," Cecilia explained, pulling out one of her Pokeballs.
"I'll act as the referee," Nemona said excitedly. "If a Pokemon is on the ground for ten seconds, it's considered fainted." both of her schoolmates nodded.
"I've been feeling off for a while. This battle will get them out." Arven said more to himself while pulling up his sleeves. He even smacked his face, similar to the former Galar champion Leon. Arven sent out a tiny squirrel-like, mostly grayish-brown Pokemon with an enormous fluffy tail; that Pokemon was a Skwovet. "These memories leave a bad taste in my mouth, and I want them gone," he growled.
"Go, Fletchling," Cecilia called out. The small gray body and reddish-orange head Kalosian bird Pokemon appeared flying around before landing on the ground. "You challenge me, you start."
"Fine, Skwovet, use tackle," Arven ordered; his Pokemon ran forward.
"Once it gets close enough, use Peck," Cecilia called, just as the Skwovet got close enough to hit Fletchling only to get pecked and back off.
"Try, bite." Arven's Pokemon opened its mouth.
"Vive-Attague," unlike Olwin Cecilia's Fletchling, was from Kalos and understood the order. The tiny bird slammed the squirrel down to the ground.
Nemona counted rather quickly before announcing, "Skwovet is unable to battle. Cecilia is the winner."
Arven bowed his head while shaking it. "You know more about battling than you let on."
"You counted too quickly, Nemona," Cecilia said, annoyed. "Just because I don't see battle as my strong point doesn't mean I'm bad at it," she added.
"Come on, Cecilia. That was amazing," Nemona said, unfazed by her look. "You only used two moves, and Arven couldn't land one."
"I just caught that Pokémon; what do you expect?" Arven said as he recalled his Pokémon. He then reached into a side pocket of his bag and pulled out a standard Pokeball. "You'll need this if you're taking Koraidon off my hands."
So Koraidon belong to Arven. That did explain a lot but, at the same time, raised more questions like why would any trainer get rid of a powerful Pokemon and what led up to that.
"Wait, you can't just give me this?" Cecilia was dumbfounded. "There is the registry to go through."
"We battled, and you won. Now it's your problem," said Arven, shoving the ball into Cecilia's hands before running off down the lane to the school.
"Oye! Didn't you hear Cecilia?" Nemona yelled after Arven. "Fine, be that way. But you better show up for school."
' He's not worth your time, Cecilia. Let's try to do the transfer without him,' Agravain said, placing a paw on his trainer's shoulder.
"We'll see," Cecilia said, fiddling with the Pokeball. Noticing Koraidon coming over, she smiled and recalled the Pokemon into its ball. "The nice thing is until the transfer is complete, I can carry Koraidon as a seventh Pokemon without getting in trouble."
"I didn't know you could do that," Nemona said, folding her arms. "But Arven seems to be hiding something."
"That is more or less obvious." Cecilia agreed.
"The next time I see him, I will battle Arven and demand answers," Nemona said
"Good luck," Cecilia said. "Now, about this lighthouse," she pointed behind them.
"Right, I can't wait to show you the view." Nemona grinned.
Cecilia and Agravain exchanged looks as the Monkey Pokemon said, ' You're just humoring her .'
Before climbing the lighthouse, Cecilia said, "Only if she's not bugging me for a battle."
On the observation deck, Nemona was waiting. "Look, it's Mesagoza," she pointed to the visible city.
The climb was worth it as the walled city loomed large. "Even Lumiose city pales in comparison."
"The huge building with the Pokeball is our school." Nemona explained, "It will be great having you in the same classes."
"If that happens." Cecilia was still determining if it would be as great as Nemona said. "I'm not looking forward to all that school work." having been tutored, Cecilia never had any assignments.
"Don't think of it as work. Remember it as learning more about Pokémon, especially battles," Nemona said. "Look how much of the region you can see," she added, pointing in the other direction and causing the other two to follow her gaze.
' I prefer it to Galar,' Agravain said. ' It's different .'
"Kalos is just as breathtaking." Cecilia countered.
' You were born there. ' Agravaina argueed back.
As Nemona failed to notice the small argument, she exclaimed, "Look at the beautiful nature surrounding us! As far as the eye can see, mountains, forests, and grasslands."
"Not to mention a lot of Pokemon," Cecilia turned back to Nemona.
"Yup," Nemona grinned, "It is a bit of a hike to school, as you can see, so let's meet up at Los Platos, which is about halfway." she pointed to the small town that could be seen.
AN: Yeah, the battle in this chapter is one-sided. As Arven said, he just caught his Pokemon while it would listen to him; Cecilia has battled before. Some battles will be like this, others not.
I might have made Arven a bit nicer than he was in the game, but I'm not sure. Yes, Arven's last name is both Sada and Turo. Some fans like to put both professors as his parents, but it doesn't help. He was drawn to look like a mix of them, after all.
