There was a lot to expect when it came to my father.
Being the King of Hell came with a lot of power and influence when it came to the people. They would listen without question despite his contrasting personality. People knew not to mess with him no matter how he presented himself and those that were lucky enough to see his more joyful side knew that they were in his good graces.
His protectiveness knew no bounds and when it came to my mother and I, he would fight till the falling of all of Heaven before he would give up on keeping us safe. Even after their divorce and separation all those years ago.
But one thing that people would never expect from Lucifer Morningstar?
I smiled softly as I leaned against Vaggie's doorframe to see my father gently applying an angelic aid to the scars that were gently fading on her back.
He was as kind and as gentle as they come.
"This won't make them disappear completely, but it will help aid in the scar tissue softening and make it easier to flex that area." The voice he used reminded me of the soft and airy tone he would have when I was a child. "I know it must still ache at times, but this will keep it from causing any issues further down the line and make it a bit flatter."
"Anything is appreciated, Lucifer." A large goofy grin took over my father's face as he closed the little tub of whatever it was he was applying before turning and placing it on her nightstand.
"I'll be speaking with Sera soon enough so I can hopefully get her to gift me some more medical care to help with the healing process." He covered his eyes with his gloved hands despite now turning his full body away from the other angel. "You're good to get covered! I solemnly swear I am being a gentleman and covering my peepers!" I chuckled at my father's antics as I watched Vaggie's back as she moved to slip back on whichever shirt she had pooled in her lap.
Her back is healing beautifully.
I smiled to myself as I watched her slip the shirt over her head and torso in a quick motion before pulling her now longer hair out from under the collar. It had grown just to the beginning of her shoulder blades and I couldn't help but adore the silk-like nature of the white trail that fell now to her back.
She was healing beautifully. Despite everything.
I knocked on the door frame to let my presence be known to both of them which caused the angels to turn toward me from their respective positions, even though my father kept his gloved hands over his eyes.
"Charlie? How's my baby girl!?" Vaggie rolled her eyes at my dad even though a small chuckle escaped the smaller woman.
"Lucifer, I'm covered now. You can put your hands down."
"Wonderful!" He flopped his hands down into his lap with a wide grin before standing up to his feet. "My baby girl!" He walked up to me with his arms out wide which I reciprocated easily as I pulled his smaller figure into a hug. "How long have you been there?"
"Enough to hear you talking about Sera. She's the head of the council, right? Must be important." I pulled back from my dad to see a dark look take over his once joyful features.
"There are a lot of questions that need to be answered referring to them and in all honesty, if she let Adam take over the meeting instead, he would probably be dead by the end of it."
"Completely understandable." I nodded my head as Vaggie stood to join us. "Good to see they're taking this seriously."
"Adam is a dick anyway," I smiled toward Vaggie as she joined my side with a smile of her own. "'First dick' this, 'first dick' that. It gets boring pretty quickly." She shrugged as I snickered at her antics.
"From the stories I heard from Mom, definitely makes sense."
"He's like that creepy weird uncle that no one likes to talk about."
"Exactly!" Dad laughed joyously as he reached out to pat Vaggie's shoulder. "Oh, but you should have seen him after he was first created! Man, that was hilarious. Kinda like a doe fresh out of the wound all bone-legged and wobbly." The other angel let out a hearty laugh before running a hand through her hair.
"Jeez! What I wouldn't give to see that!" I smiled at the two of them as they shared their dislike for the First Man. My father then pulled back his hand as a familiar ring of a rubber ducky came from his pocket.
"Oh! It's time for me to start heading out. Do you girls need anything else before I depart? I'm sure whatever is needed of me in the Gluteny Ring can wait a few minutes if there is anything else."
"I'm sure we'll be just fine, Dad." I wrapped an arm around Vaggie and pulled her into a side hug which the smaller angel reciprocated without any hesitation which only showcased her growth in the past six months she had spent with us. "Right, Vag?"
"Well we didn't get to the massaging of the scar tissue, but I'm sure Charlie wouldn't mind helping me with that."
"Oh feathers, I knew I was forgetting something!" I rolled my eyes at my father as he magic-ed a portal behind him. "I bet Charlie can handle it! Just simple tiny circles into the scar tissue to help soften the area. It'll help with her movements and keep her back from getting bumped up in areas. If you have any questions, shoot me a text!" I waved my father off with a smile as he made his way halfway through the portal. "Oh! And make sure she does her stretches! I know she hates them, but with the chance of muscle development coming back, it's good to keep that area fresh and ready!"
"Dad, I took care of Vaggie for three months on my own and you saw how good she was going. I can handle her exercises."
"That's my strong and capable Duckie!" He chuckled to himself before smiling at Vaggie. "I never told you that story! Remind me the next time I pop over, you'll love hearing about little Charlie and her admiration with-!"
"Dad! Icantakecareofmygirlfriendonmyownbye!" I shoved my dad through the portal as I sped through my words. The portal quickly closed afterward as I let out a heavy sigh. "Do not need you embarrassing anymore than you have been lately." I dusted my hands off before turning on my hooves and smiling toward Vaggie. "So, massaging the scar tissue?" Vaggie gave me a smirk as she put her hands on her hips. "What? Something wrong? He didn't already tell you the Duckie story, did he?" My face fell as Vaggie's smirk grew ever so slightly.
"Oh, he hasn't told me it yet. I think his own ADHD seems to forget every time he wants to tell it." She took a step toward me before crossing her arms over her stomach. "But girlfriend, huh?"
Did I-?
My face felt like the deepest fires of Hell were burning beneath my cheeks.
Oh feathers.
"I-. Ah-." I stammered on my words as I felt as if my heart was going to explode in my chest. "I mean, if you're okay with that? I totally understand if not and I'm sorry for assuming but it just kind of slipped and I didn't mean to assume, oh I didn't even consider you not being gay, especially as an ex-angel I'm so so so so sorry Ididn'tevenconsider-." Suddenly, I felt two arms wrap themselves around my neck as I was pulled down gently to have a soft kiss placed on my cheek.
"Hey, take a breath, Char." I felt her put the tips of her fingers into the hairs at the nape of my neck as she would do from time to time when I was anxious within these past few months. I watched her face as I did my best to take calm and relaxed breaths despite the chaos that was raging within my chest. The gentle look in her eyes shone so beautifully under the lights of her bedroom. The combination of yellow and pink in her eye calmed my nerves smoothly as her fingers still toyed with the nape of my neck. "Better now?"
"Y-Yeah." I let out a sigh as I reached up and placed my hands gently on her elbows to absent-mindedly toy with the sleeves of her red top. "Thanks, Vags."
"Anytime," Her smile looked as if it was painted with the most delicate hand possible as she came ever so closer to me. "And I don't mind the sound of that, by the way."
"O-Oh?" The blush felt like it came back in full force as Vaggie just giggled at my flushed face.
"Yeah." I instinctively pulled her into a tight hug and she just laughed joyously against me while wrapping her arms a bit more around my neck.
"Oh, that feels so much better." I let out a heavy sigh as I squeezed her against me.
"Be careful there, babe, I'm still healing." Vaggie giggled against me as she squeezed me back but not as airtight.
"Sorry!" I loosened my hold on the angel as she just nuzzled into me all the same. "Just kinda-."
"Been wanting to do that for a while? Completely understood."
"You've felt the same?"
"For a good little bit." I pulled back just enough to give Vaggie a wide-eyed look she just quirked an eyebrow in response. "What? Thought I wasn't interested?"
"Kinda?" I gave a nervous smile as Vaggie narrowed her eye at me.
"Who in their right mind in each realm of the living wouldn't be?"
"I don't know?" I couldn't help but laugh at my ridiculousness as Vaggie just pulled me back into a tight hug. "I'm glad you feel the same though."
"Absolutely." I sighed contently as her breath tickled the skin of my neck. "A happy little accident, don't you agree?" I hummed happily against her as a small purr came from my throat.
"The happiest."
