Chapter 11

Why was he part of this?

Toshi didn't understand why they didn't just go back home. Rook is covered in blood, there is tons of meat and yet… Sukuna insisted. "Let's hunt!"

"I do need to know how you can see divine creatures…" Toshi said offhandedly.

"Natural talent developed after I ate dragon meat." He said bluntly. "Besides, it's a good thing I can, I got something to do now… and a way to vent"

He has no argument to that…

Sukuna has kept Toshi with him and Rook when they hunt, since despite how good Sukuna was, Toshi was better at noticing the beasts that wondered the human world. Such trips were short and sweet since they mainly dealt with Orcs, but it appears he is upping the prey difficulty.

As such, they were just leaving the toy factory after processing all the orcs. That was when he saw it. There was a man outside of the factory, staring at them but looking beyond him. Toshi stepped forward. "Can I help you?" he asked.

The man, licked his lips. "Yeah… your friends there… they fresh?" he asked. "The one covered in blood looks really good, the other one… needs a little more on him but I am sure he will taste just as fine…"

Toshi sighed. "I take it you are a man eating divine beast?" he asked.

The man bore a wicked grin of fangs. In fact, the more Toshi looked the more he began to see what this man really was, but his mind went off. 'Manticore' instantly. How… he didn't know. At the same time. He sighed knowing what is going to be happening next.

"I suggest you walk away," Toshi said bluntly. "But, I won't stop you…"

"Thanks…" he man walked by him, but slowly began to turn into its true form. Before long a two meter beast came before Sukuna and Rook. Neither one of them flinched before this beast as it roared right into their faces.

"Is that what I do?" Sukuna asked Rook.

"No, you laugh in people's faces, I haven't seen you roar at them… it's not like it's necessary…" The beast's tail came crashing down. A massive scorpion tail tried to impale Rook then and there. Yet… both of them caught the tail!

"Okay boy, we got the tail, what do we do with it?" Sukuna asked.

"Get it ready for prep!" Rook didn't hesitate as he sliced the tail clean off. It roared and recoiled from the pain before it went in to try and maul them. Rook went low, as Sukuna took the beast head on.

It was over… Rook went under and gutted the beast from below. Sukuna snapped the neck and tore its eyes out…

Toshi sighed as he approached and peered over the fallen beast. "This is edible?" he asked.

"Maybe?" said Sukuna.

Toshi turned to Rook… who was gulping something down. Why on earth is he taking a bite out of the tail?!

"Rook! We don't know if it's…" his body glowed. Toshi was the only one who noticed it doing so. It glowed red at first, then green… then to white.

"Don't know if it's what?" he asked as the glowing subsided. But his stomach churned. "Ooo, maybe too much meat."

'No… that is your body digesting poison…' Toshi thought

Sukuna was more curious than anything. "You ate that without problem?"

"So far."

His smile grew. "Good… get the liver"

Rook's look altered as he cringe. "Great… sure… more liver…" he muttered. They gathered up the parts of the manticore. With everything settled, Sukuna decreed it was best to go back. "Now we got something to look forward to, now don't we, Rook?" he asked with a devious grin.

"Liver… apparently…" he muttered. "URP! Sorry…"

Sukuna was rather pleased with this, yet, Toshi couldn't help but wonder what he saw…

"I want to know… but considering YOU are with him… I can only assume…"

Toshi hung back as Yua began to lecture Sukuna on the matter of her son coming home covered in this unknown blood! Rook was quick to explain what had happened. Sukuna said he was wondering where Rook went since Shin was recovering from his last lesson. "It was a rather happy accident…"

"You are BOTH drenched in blood… I am not shocked when it's you but my son?" she asked.

"Uh… mom… I had to kill a lot of orcs to get out of there. They were dead before Oji and Toshi arrived."

"Then why is Sukuna covered in blood?" she asked her son.

"Broke down all the orcs, we then had to face off against an manticore. We got bit of that too… in fact…" he reached into his pocket and pulled out the eyes he took from it. "I got the eyes right here!"

"Ew" Yua said short but not the least bit disgusted... she doesn't appear to be that surprised either. "All yours" she said and waved them off. "Rook, hon… please… shower"

"Yeah, I'll be in there for two hours… at least."

"Shower and meet me by the hot spring." Sukuna called.

The two separated and went on their way. Yua sighed aloud as she turned to Toshi. "I don't blame you on any of this, in fact, I am honestly relieved that you go with them." She said with a sigh.

He smiled to that. "Sukuna is rather insisting on me going along with him… Yua… can I ask you something?"

She nodded. "Of course, anything."

He explained to her that he is getting unknown knowledge in his head from time to time, today for example. He smelt something off, but knew instantly it was a boar. Boars don't belong on the earthly realm and yet, one was there. Second, when he ran into the manticore. He knew it was that creature before it revealed itself. "I don't know how this is happening, but all I know is that… it happened twice."

"You haven't been a dragon too long either Toshi… is it the soul you took in?"

"Soul?" he asked curiously. "Yua to be honest… I have no idea how I became this."

This, took her aback a little. "No idea?" she asked. His head shook no. "If you think it is serious, tell me or the Itadoris as soon as you can. We will get Lady Tiamat to look over you to be safe than sorry."

"Thank you… It's strange… I thought I would be able to remember what had happened to me… I don't even know what kind of dragon I am!"

"Join the club" Yua sighed. "Come to think of it, I haven't seen Satoru in a while…"

"Ether," Toshi explained. "My boys are there now with their cousins… they are warning the adopted cousins to no longer provide eggs for Choso to hatch since they have lost count as to how many 'siblings' they have"

She giggled aloud to that, but then paused. "Choso's hair was down today, and he's been wearing his comfy clothing…"

Toshi sighed. "He's done it again…"

"I wouldn't be too hard on him, after all. Choso has a lot of love to give." Yua said and snickered. "It's rather adorable."

"Try keeping him fed." Toshi muttered.
