Moonlight on His Skin
"The world of Aminan wasn't just the towns and cities. It wasn't just the waters and the deserts. It wasn't even the bright blue sky above it all. No, these things were what combined the pristine view spread around for as far as the eye could see. In some cases, that was very far indeed.
Aminan was the air which held any scent imaginable to the nose. It was the cool waters of a creek, and the muddy depths of a marsh. Aminan was the jolly yellow sun and the mysterious silvery white moon. It was the countless stars spread in all directions and the mountains capped with snow. And last but not least, Aminan was the clouds above and the magma below the surface.
Before there were ever people on Aminan, there were the Solar, Astral, and Lunar courts. As the creatrix placed the stars in the black void that was to become the sky, each one was given a job to do. Some formed into constellations, whereas others remained alone. The largest of these was called by men and elves alike, Eirithrim, which means hall of dancers. Unlike what you might think, stars here on Aminan were not merely balls of lit gas but bright, dazzling people.
This is so with the Solar and Lunar courts as well…"
Remus looked up from the book, rubbing his tired brow. What was he doing reading a book about the myths of Aminan? He leaned his chin into his hands and stared into space. There was more written there in that old tome, but not enough to prove anything. He couldn't just craft a pair of shoes and make a cooling salve so he could walk up into the air and visit the sun. This was all hogwash, the whole lot of it.
Remus almost tossed the dusty, age worn book aside, but he liked books way too much to do that. Instead, he placed it gently on the table where he had found it. Who said this world even had a name in the first place, let alone a creatrix. If there was any kind of creatrix it was going to be magic.
"Well then wouldn't magic be able to make anything possible?" a voice asked him in the back of his head.
Remus was just in the middle of shaking his head when he heard the whispering. It was his name, sounding in a woman's voice. It was a soft susurration, constant and slightly echoey. Against his better judgement, Remus followed the whisper and found himself walking through a long, dark corridor. The whispering grew louder with every footstep until he found himself outside on a barren plain pockmarked with craters.
He felt exposed, as though something were eating at him, body and spirit. Invisible hands dobbed warm salve onto his exposed skin and a cape of some kind was thrown over him. He felt very unnerved at the treatment but he forgot all about that when he saw the two thrones in front of him, and the woman standing behind one of them. He immediately bowed to the glowing, radiant queen, and the regal king who was exuding his own aura of power. When his eyes fell on the second woman, he prostrated himself on the barren ground.
Where the queen and king had swirling silver eyes, this woman had fiery orange eyes, with flecks of silver and cores of smoldering white. Where the queen had midnight black hair, the second woman had crackling white hair with streaks of gold and silver. Where the king and queen radiated silver moonlight, the other woman radiated light which looked like a super nova, hard to tell what she was wearing or how tall she was with her radiance and beauty. She lifted him with graceful hands and kissed his forehead. Then she spoke in a voice that sounded tripled, like that of a major chord.
"Remus Lupin," she stroked his sixteen year old cheek. "I am the creatrix of Aminan. I have no name for I feel such things are trivial. These are Queen Lumi and King Gatev of the Lunar Court. Yes those stories are not myths."
"Wh-what do y-you w-want fr-from me?" Remus stammered, feeling very overwhelmed.
"I'm bringing back the myths in the form of soul bonds," said the creatrix. "In the next generation, I'm hoping to reestablish the court sects, and I have already done so by bringing certain people to certain locations and talking to them. Believe me, my plan will work."
"I don't understand," said Remus, frowning deeply.
"Unfortunately your soul bonded has not been born yet," said the creatrix, "But have no fear. The soul bond magic won't force you to do anything terrible. As for the people I have brought to the courts, we need a potions master to brew salves and other items though he'll only belong to one court, a runes teacher to craft climbing shoes, and… A few others here and there. You'll find out later. Now I think it's time you head off to bed young man."
Remus heard nothing more as he suddenly found himself snug in his bed, the touch from the creatrix and her kiss tingling on her forehead.
A/N So I was thinking this might be just a one shot kind of deal. Unless I can get some great reviews though I could probably expand it depending on what you readers would like to see. Remus is not a werewolf in this story and right now is only Sixteen. Yes this is AU hence them being in another world altogether 😊 I really hope you enjoy.
