Emily smiled as she toured her new home.
"It has a 24-hour front desk concierge, a full-time building manager, and a doorman on duty. It has private, controlled-access underground parking and a high-end security system. Storage units with private meeting spaces are available for long periods," the realtor tells Elizabeth, Emily, and her son Sinclair (Declan).
"Well, what do you think, Pooh?" Elizabeth asked Emily.
"Good neighbour, close to the private school Saint goes to, not a bad drive to work or your house, and you can easily stay here with Saint when I have cases."
"And what does my handsome grandson think?"
"It's nice. Can I get a puppy since it's pet-friendly?"
"We agree to ask Santa about that."
"Santa isn't real, and that means Grams, and you already got me a puppy, right?"
"We'll see."
"So, are we going to take it because you can move in tonight?" the realtor asks.
Elizabeth and Emily look at each other.
"We'll take it, and Mom, call the boys to help us move the boxes."

Emily walked into the office tired. It had been a long night of unpacking, getting Saint ready for school, and realizing she had finished her personnel file. She walked over to Anderson's desk, whom she was told was good at personnel files and office specialties.
"Good Morning, Agent Anderson!" Emily chirped.
Anderson took one look at her and saw how tired she was.
"Good Morning to you too, Agent Prentiss."
"Please, call me Emily."
"Then call me Grant."
"Well, Grant. I need help with my personnel file; as you know, many of my files have to be redacted and classified, and I don't know where to start."
"Okay, let's start with the basics," Anderson said as he opened her file.
"Emily Honora Prentiss, October 12, 1975, Westlight 9C, single, one child: Sinclair Eli Prentiss, March 11, 1997. Mother: Ambassador Elizabeth Daphne Prentiss is my next kin and POA. Father: The Honourable Robert Ellis Steyer, Secretary of Treasury. Stepmother: Congresswoman Karen Grace Steyer. Siblings who all half and step, but my father adopted the step ones."
"Start with half."
"Half-brothers: Robert Ellis Seyer Jr. and Henry James Seyer. Half-sisters: Aurelia Karen Steyer and Eloise Grace Steyer. Stepbrothers: Arthur Silas Steyer, William Lucas Steyer, and Nathaniel Robert Steyer. Stepsisters: Clara Iris Steyer, Charlotte Alice Steyer, and Cordelia Josephine Steyer."
"That's a lot of siblings."
"I have no contact with any of them, my father or my stepmother. I have spoken to my father since I was two."
"I didn't know."
"No, the great Karen and Robert Steyer won't want anyone to know they have no contact with Robert's firstborn."
"Your secret is safe with me."
"What secret?" Morgan asked after seeing Emily working with Anderson than them.
"How many siblings I have."
"And how many?"
"10, and they are all from my father."
"I added your nieces and nephews along with your extended family. It's easy for you as they are already in the file."
"Okay, what is next? I need to add."
"The school your son goes to and who he stays with when you're travelling."
Emily wrote down the information and handed it over to Anderson.
"You have a child?" JJ asked.
"Yeah, he's nine."
Downtown DC
Emily finished her interviews and saw her older step-brother leaning against her SUV. She was tasked with interviewing by herself because they had to watch over Reid.
"Arthur, what do you want?"
"Coffee?"
"I can't have coffee. But I can take hot chocolate."
Arthur and Emily sat in a small cafe halfway from the offices.
"What do you want to talk about?" Emily asked.
"The new case your team is working on."
"That's fast."
"Emily, mother needs to pause this case."
"Not my case, and I'm just a junior SSA."
"Mother is on her way to speak to your unit chief."
Emily stared at her stepbrother, got up and dropped a twenty on the table.
"I have been there for two weeks, and now you're trying to get me fired."

Emily rushed back into the office to see her stepmother with Hotchner and knew this wasn't good. She will then approach Emily to start something between her and her boss.
"Emily," Karen said.
Emily slowly turns around to see her stepmother trying to hug her.
"Stepmother."
Emily gave in and hugged her as her co-workers were watching her.
"It has been too long."
"Not long enough," Emily whispered.
"Well, I must be going."
Karen walked away, and Emily looked up to see Hotchner looking at her along with Gideon.
Great. Emily thought.

Emily watched as she was told she was out of this case after she asked Hotchner what her stepmother wanted. As she left the building to pick up her son, she ran into the press outside his school.
"Agent Prentiss, what do you think about your stepmother's big announcement tomorrow morning?"
"Agent Prentiss, is it true your team caught the serial killer who is killing women on the street?"
"Is it true your stepmother and you were working together on this case?"
Emily realizes now that her stepmother's report is connected to the case.
"Agent Prentiss, is it true that your boss and stepmother spoke about her upcoming announcement?"
"Agent Prentiss, do you have something to say?"
Emily turned to face the press.
"No comment. Please contact the media liaison if you have any questions about cases the FBI is actively investigating."
"Agent Prentiss, will you be there tomorrow?"
"No comment, and you're on private property."

Saint ran past Emily into his room as Emily went to her makeshift office and started her research. She found four names that matched the profile and called up Anderson.
"Anderson."
"Grant, hi. It's Emily."
"Hey, just to warn you. Gideon is on the warpath with you."
"Because of Steyer?"
"Yes, you were not supposed to go to Guantanamo Bay as you are supposed to be neutral."
"Great, but that isn't why I'm calling. I have four names for you to review as they fit the profile."
"Okay, go ahead."
Emily gave him three names and then paused.
"Ronald Weems, My mother didn't like him and blocklisted him from her parties and events. But my stepmother did, or maybe still does, have lunch with his wife. He never agrees with my stepmother's views."
"Okay, I will let you know, Emily. Ah, sir. Yes, it's Agent Prentiss. Oh, you want to speak with her."
"No, I don't want to speak to one of them."
"Ah, Agent Hotchner, sir. Agent Prentiss was about to hang up as her son called her."
"Good," Emily nodded.
"Fine, Sir. Sorry, Agent Prentiss. Agent Hotchner would like to speak to you."
"Just work on those names."
"Sir, is there something you need?"
"I wanted to apologize about early."
"No apology needed."
"Okay," Hotchner said.
"I will see you tomorrow."
December 2, 2006
Emily spends her whole day out of the office, getting recertification training to travel with the team. Anderson texted her that the team was looking for her and wondered why she didn't ask them to help her with anything.
Emily returned to the office with Sinclair to drop off her file on the case they had just finished last night, and she saw Anderson at his desk.
"Hey, you,"
"Hey, and well, hello mini-Prentiss." Anderson greeted them.
"This is my son Sinclair Prentiss or Saint. Saint, this is my new friend and co-worker, Grant Anderson."
"Hi, Agent Anderson."
"Grant, would you mind keeping him with you so I can drop off this file?"
"Sure."
Emily left the two and went to Hotchner's office, not noticing the team watching her son and waiting for her to leave.
"Who is your friend, Anderson?" Morgan asked him.
"Oh, umm. This is Agent Prentiss' son."
"Hey, Saint, ready to go get our tree?" Emily asked when she saw her team ambush her son and Grant.
"Yes, Mom. It was nice meeting you all." Saint said politely and shook all of their hands.
"Getting a tree? Haley, Jack, and I were going as well. Maybe we can make it a team bonding."
Emily knew what they were doing, and she knew her son wanted a normal life.
"Okay, we can meet up in an hour. Grant, want to come?"
