It's night time for the child as he says goodnight to his mom and dad and snuggles in his blanket. He rests comfortably in his bed before hearing his closet creak open. He looks around for a moment before seeing an arm come out as he closes his eyes and opens them again to see a sweater. He then closes his eyes again relieved that it was nothing more than just some clothes. 4 eyes appear under his bed and a big figure slowly rises above the boy as he just opens his eyes, seeing a shadow tower over him. The creature with 4 eyes then reveals its arms, two big and two small as it prepares to strike while looking down at the boy.
The boy then looks up and then screams in fear while also surprisingly scaring the creature which is actually a Gem, specifically a fusion. The gem still startled, steps on a ball as it bounces off the wall and strikes the gem square on the face. Disoriented from her face getting hit by a ball, the gem then steps on a skateboard and slips off of it as the gem lands on a pair of sharp objects on her butt and screams in pain. The gem then proceeds to run around, knocking furniture and other stuff over while also screaming in pain and jumping around.
The lights suddenly turn on and a balring intercom voice repeating the words, "SIMULATION TERMINATED." has stopped what the gem was doing as it was revealed that the boy was actually a dummy as it lays back down and closes its eyes as if nothing happened. A wall then lifts up to be a testing room where another gem was watching for results as the gem pulls out the last object off of it.
"Alright, Pearl and Ruby was it?" The Blue Agate then asked the fusion. "Um…Actually it's Rhodonite." The fusion corrected her question as Agate asked Rhodonite another question, "Uh huh… Rhodonite can you tell me what you did wrong?" "I fell down?" Rhodonite answered nervously. "No no, before that." The Blue Agate then said before turning to her view group which were Amethysts. "Can anyone tell me Rhodonite's big mistake? Anyone?" She asked the group but none of them answered as one of them coughed. She then groaned in annoyance before rewinding the video. "Let's take a look at the tape. There we go…" She then said as the video starts with Rhodonite opening the door.
She is then seen entering the room before the video stops and shows a door left ajar. "Aha! There. See? The door, you left it wide open." Both the group and Rhodonite soon realize the mistake. Holly Blue Agate asked again, "And leaving a door open is the worst mistake any worker can make because…?" She left out the last part for the fusion to answer. "Um, it could let in a bee?" Rhodonite answered wrongly. "It could let in a child." Said a figure who stepped out into the testing room. "Oh! Bismuth!" Agate then yelled out, as she and everyone else was shocked to see her here. "There is nothing more toxic or deadly than a human child. A single touch could kill you!" Bismuth then explained as Rhodonite backed away from the dummy.
Bismuth explained further, "Leaving a door opened, then a child could walk right into this factory, right into the homeworld!" One of the Amythests in the group panicked and jumped onto the arms of another Amethyst while yelling out, "No! I won't go to the kid's room! You can't make me!". "You're going in there because we need this!" Bismuth then said as she grabbed a canister and opened a valve letting out a scream which made everyone cover their ears and the lights flicker with more brightness before she closed the valve again and then putting it down.
Bismuth then said, "Our world is counting you to collect those children's screams. Without scream, we have no power! Yes it's dangerous work and that's why I need you to be at your best!" Bismuth then explained further, "I need gems who are confident, tenacious, tough and Intimidating! I need gems like…like… Lapis lazuli!"
Meanwhile at an apartment somewhere, Lapis herself is just sleeping noisily on her bed as her clock said 6:05. "Hey good morning Homeworld, this is 5 after the hour of six Am in a big gem city." A voice then chimed it before a little green gem with a triangle hair looked on at her sleeping buddy. "Temperatures are 60 degrees which is good news for reptiles and it looks like a perfect day to lie in bed and sleep in… or simply…" The little green gem then yells, "WORK OUT THAT FLAB THAT'S HANGING OVER THE BED! GET UP LAPIS!" The green gem then pulls out an airhorn and blasts it right in front of the sleeping blue gem causing her to jolt up awake and startled.
Lapis has just started to do push ups as she complains to her green friend, "I don't believe I ordered a wake up call Peridot!" Peridot counters it by saying, "Hey less talk, more pain water girl!" Then Peridot and Lapis started to work out to scare as Lapis uses her water arms to form a devil-like face and then holds her as she does push ups.
Next Peridot does a test where she says quiet feet a couple of times before saying a sentence like the kid is awake or the kid is asleep. Peridot then tries to trick her by telling Lapis that the kids are on the twin bed in which Lapis uses her water power to shape a face and cackles as she goes up and down. Peridot then uses a stick to test Lapis if she can avoid it while also trying to scare it away. Lapis is then pushing furniture with her arms as she uses her Hydrokinesis to make two pairs of arms to aid her. She also brushes her teeth while Peridot is also motivating her.
Lapis is then doing pull ups with her water arms as Peridot is counting how many she does one pull up. "Oh my stars I don't believe it!" The green gem expressed happily. "I'm not even breaking a sweat!" Lapis said with pride before Peridot cuts her off. "Not you look! A new commercial is on!" Peridot then runs toward her tv as Lapis falls down accidentally letting go from her water hands.
The commercial starts with the incorporation saying they have a bright as Peridot jumps onto a big chair while saying, "I'm in this one, I'm in this one!' Before Lapis picks her up and sets her down onto a smaller seat while she sits on the big chair. Peridot is still happy regardless. The commercial continues on how they power everything they use like their pods, lights and even the whole homeworld before a worker appears on screen saying that they work for the factory. "Hey look, Ruby!" Lapis pointed out as she recognized the gem.
Commercial continues on how they match the gem to the child to power everything, the innocence of children shrinking and Bismuth saying that they are prepared and trying out new technology as Lapis appears on the commercial forming a ghastly face using Hydrokinesis and crackling through the door. Peridot shouts happily seeing her blue gem on a commercial before saying, "Ok here I come!" Both of them appear in the commercial while the Logo of the place covers her face. Lapis then says in the commercial, "We're working for a better tomorrow today!"
The Commercial then ends with a slang that says, "We scare, because we care." Peridot is taken back by the looks of it since her face was covered. "I can't believe it." Peridot says emotionlessly. Lapis tries to consult before Peridot then yells out with joy, "I was on TV! Did you see that?! I'm a natural!" A tablet then rings out as Peridot grabs and answers it. "Hello? I know! Wasn't I great? Did everyone see it?" She then turns to Lapis before talking to the tablet again, "It's your sisters. What can I say? The camera loves me!"
Peridot and Lapis have now walked out the door and have begun walking to the factory. It is a really nice day out as buildings are around every corner and everyone is walking around. "I'm telling you Lazuli, you're gonna be seeing this face on TV a lot more!" Peridot expressed happily. Lapis then says with a joke, "Oh yeah? Like the Homeworld's most wanted?" Both laughed at the joke before Peridot then said, "You've been jealous since we first met pal." They continue walking till Peridot comes to a floating pod with legs. "Ok lapis hop on in." Lapis refuses as she keeps walking while Peridot stops her and asks about where she is going. "Peri there's a scream shortage, We're walking." "Walking?!" Peridot said with a hint of fear. Lapis then grabs her and tries to pull away as she holds onto her pod. "My baby look! She needs to be driven!" Peridot loses grip and Lapis walks away while holding her. "My baby! I'll- I'll call you!"
After a while a walking Peridot asks Lapis, "Hey Lazuli do you wanna know why I bought the pod?" "Not really." Lapis answered by Peridot yell out, "To Drive it! You know on the road? With the honk, honk and the whoosh, whoosh and no walking?" Lapis, getting annoyed by what her green friend is exaggerating about then says, "Give it a rest, will ya bud? Come on! You could use some exercise." "I could use some exercise?! Look at you! You have your own water wings anyway!"
The duo walked past some little gems kicking around a rock they found and greeting them as one of the little ones, who was busy saying bye to them, accidentally kicked the rock as a Topaz hitting her on the back of her head and getting mad at them. Some gems were just doing their own thing like relaxing or moving trash away and one of the gems was reading a newspaper before sneezing and having one of her spikes go through the newspaper and ripping it. "Aw great…" Expressed the watermelon colored gem with annoyance.
A Sapphire is seen sorting out some food on the sidewalk with her before seeing the Duo. She then calls out, "Hey fellas!" As the duo and the gem greet each other as Sapphire then says, "I can tell you both are close to breaking the old time scare record!" Lapis then expresses her gratitude by saying, "Aw just making sure there are enough screams to go around." As both Lapis and Peridot begin to walk away, the Sapphire throws some food for them while saying it's on the house. Both catch their food and make their way as a small Ruby trips and falls face first on the ground before saying, "Ow… nice…" as the Ruby gets herself back up.
The duo then arrive at a Traffic light where they see a giant caterpillar like fusion waiting. Lapis then greets the fusion saying, "Hey Fluorite! Good morning!" Fluorite the responds back saying in a slow pace, "Gooooooood moooorniiiingg.." The Traffic light then shows green as the caterpillar-like fusion walks away. "See that Peri? She's walking to where she needs to go." "Big deal! She takes like 10 steps and she's there!" Peridot said as they both went to the factory. Looks like today is gonna be like any day.
