A few days later, it was time for the characters from Kansas City to head home. Bay went to visit Emmett on campus one last time, and then after that, the Switched at Birth characters met up with the Everything's Gonna Be Okay characters to say goodbye.
"I made you something," Matilda said to Emmett. She showed him a drawing of Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise that she had drawn herself.
"That's really good!" said Emmett. "Thanks so much!"
"Here, I got you something too," Daphne said to Nicholas. She gave him a book about entomology she had found at a bookstore a couple days ago.
"Awww, how nice of you!" said Nicholas. "It's always nice to get two of the same book. Now I can use the other one as a paperweight—"
Genevieve elbowed him.
"—I mean, it's always nice to get a book for the very first time! Now I can put it on the shelf with all the other books I've got which are most definitely all unique titles with none of the same book, because this book is the first of its kind to go on my shelf. None others like it."
Daphne giggled. "Well, I'm glad you like your 'unique' book."
Bay approached Nicholas and said, "I got you something too." She pulled out a banana cream pie.
"Awwww, for me? You shouldn't have!"
"Well, I...didn't." Smiling, she hit him in the face with the pie.
"Aw, come on!" said Nicholas. "Just because I did it to you doesn't mean you get to do it to me!"
Bay giggled. "What can I say? I learned a lot from you and your family."
"I'm just kidding," said Nicholas. "That was a hilarious prank. I loved it!" He then dipped his finger in the pie filling and brought it over to his mouth to taste it, and said, "Not bad. Could use a little more sugar, though."
The Kansas City characters then said goodbye to the LA characters, and left. While walking away, Bay turned to Daphne and said affectionately, "I'm gonna miss those goofballs."
"Me too," said Daphne.
"So maybe we'll see you around?" Alex said to Emmett after the Kansas City characters left.
"Sure. And I'd love to stay in touch."
"I'd love to!"
After Emmett parted ways with the other characters, Nicholas said, "I'm starving. Who wants some Mexican food?"
A week later, at Nicholas' house, Nicholas said to Alex, "You know, I was thinking, maybe you could teach me some sign language?"
"I'd be happy to help, but it might be a good idea to find some books or websites dedicated to that kind of thing? That way, you know, you can teach yourself," said Alex. "And plus, I'd have a hearing-person accent if I taught you. Best to learn it from teachers that are actually deaf."
"That's exactly what I was thinking! Learn it from an actual deaf teacher."
"Also, keep in mind that if you go back to Australia, the sign language they speak there isn't the same one we speak here."
"Of course I knew that! Everybody knows that. American sign language is only spoken in America, while—"
"—Actually, that's not technically true. There are other countries in the world that use American Sign Language that aren't otherwise closely connected to the US, like in western Africa and southeastern Asia for example."
"I love how you're an egghead, Alex!" Shouting at Matilda and Genevieve in the next room, Nicholas said, "You hear that? My boyfriend is an egghead!"
"Yes, we heard," said Matilda.
A few seconds later, Genevieve said, "Anybody else getting the feeling we've finally achieved some sense of finality or closure that's been eluding us for so long? Like, a kind of closure we didn't get after Matilda's wedding but we're finally getting now?"
"I know exactly what you mean," said Nicholas. He then turned towards you, the reader, and said, "That Josh Thomas guy, am I right?"
"Will you quit that already?" said Alex. My thoughts exactly.
Meanwhile in Kansas City, Bay and Daphne were about to have a movie night, and they were trying to decide what movie to watch.
"How about Star Wars? I've never seen it before, but I'd love to see it."
"Well, look who's finally joining the rest of the world in seeing Star Wars!" Bay teased. "But, you know, after last week, I'm more in the mood for a comedy."
"Who are you and what have you done with Bay?" Daphne joked. "But I know what you mean. Comedy this time, and Star Wars next time?"
"Sounds good! You pick the movie."
In 2010 Rosewood, the Liars were talking to each other about the characters from the other shows they had met earlier.
"I loved that Nicholas guy," said Hanna. "He was a hoot!"
"Hmph, you would," said Spencer. "But...I could go for a frozen mojito right about now."
"Aren't you forgetting we're underage?" said Emily.
"I know a guy that can hook us up with some booze," said Aria.
"Nah, it's all right," said Spencer. "Let's just get the ingredients for the non-alcoholic version."
The Liars then went to the store to shop for ingredients for non-alcoholic frozen mojitos. (I never thought I'd read that sentence in my life, but there's a first time for everything, I guess.)
In the netherworld, the ghost of Angelo Sorrento complained to me he didn't appear in this story.
"Come on! They brought me back as a memory in the last couple seasons of the show, but you didn't put me in the story until now? Also, where was Regina? She didn't appear in the story at all!"
"Ah, quit your complaining," said the ghost of Darren Moss. "They killed me off in the very first episode of my show, and you don't see me making a fuss over it."
Hope you enjoyed the story! Review it and let me know what you thought of it!
Also, if anybody correctly guesses which movie the plot of this story is (loosely) based on, I will post a shout-out to them on here :)
