CHAPTER 3

THE OBJECT

Both Candy and Darrien are at "Coffin Bond's Comic Mortuary" and both are at the game room and are on one of the tables playing a tabletop game. Candy is wearing her graphic T shirt which is on the 90's band "New Kids on the Block" a cover of one of the albums "Step by Step" and her usual black skirt over jeans. While Darrien is in a graphic T shirt which is on the 90's TV show "Step by Step" which has all the characters displayed. But Darrien is still wearing the black veil from the science fair, even though it's visible everyone in the game room is all focused on their tabletop games.

Candy and Darrien are both playing a tabletop game called "Mystery Science Theater 3000: Portals though Film" They are both playing on a gameboard that has a road and, on the sides, there is plenty of forest land and open country.

Darrien then throws down some dice and then he moves one of the robot figures which is a gold robot with an umpire cage mask for the top of the head, ping pong like eyes, and a beak like that of a bird. Along with Candy who is moving a robot that is practically a gumball machine with a red body and a white skirt which is its hover function. Both robots are on go carts, both Candy and Darrien are constantly rolling the rounded multi number dice while moving the cars both characters are driving while there is a wind-up toy of someone on a motorbike behind them moving whom has jeans, leather black jacket, and a silver motorbike that has gun turrets upfront.

Both then stop at some point and even the wind up stops on a square on the board. and then Darrien he goes to a hardback book which has a picture of the star ship that looks like a bone and the book is titled, "Satellite of Love: Trek through Space or Bust Handbook", Darrien then reads a page and says, 'Both Crow and Servo are constantly getting ahead but the Paper Chase guy is on their tail."

Candy she then rolls with green dice and moves her vehicle and then with the red dice and she says, "Crap:" She then takes a pencil and subtracts some points form her Servo status sheet as she's taken hits for the Paper Chase guy.

Candy says, "Alright that's it, the nice girl checks out and "Ms. 45" checks in.

Candy then puts down a card and then takes the big round black dice, rolls it and it stops, the dice plates is crimson red with a skull and crossbones. The dice turns up a big number and then Candy has a smile and then she brings out what looks like a big construction truck which has big spikes on its grill and then runs it straight toward the motorist and then crashes head on, knocking the motorist down.

Darrien quickly turns the book to a particular page and says, "Mega Weapon suddenly intercepts and makes street pizza out of the Paper Chase guy. Both Servo and Crow are about to get away. But unfortunates cross into the next bad movie world.

Candy says, "Which movie is it "Cave Dwellers", "Space Mutiny", which ever it is I'm ready.

Darrien then looks and sees the time sand glass they had up the bottom is now filled.

Darren looks at Candy and says, "And that concludes the game for today."

"What oh man just when it was getting good."

"I know, I know but you know the rules of this place."

"Yeah, we only have an hour of gametime."

"Tight schedules and events what are you going to do.

Candy says, "You really are a heck of a player. "

Darrien says, "So are you, you managed to survive that far."

"It's my game."

"Good Choice," I love that TV show."

"Oh really, you have a thing for bad B movies."

"Do you?"

"Well, there's something about riffing that makes watching them a masterpiece."

"The 90's are another era that must be treasured, at least I think so."

"I can see you do."

Candy points out the "T-Shirt" he's wearing. Darrien looks down and says, "It was one of my favorite sitcoms, something that I and my family use to watch, I sure you have those kids of programs yourself."

Candy says, "Yeah, though truth be told never heard of that show."

"Oh, man you don't know what you're missing out on, it was a time when comedy shows were still funny, and we didn't have PC crap to worry about."

"There are times I wonder what the 90's are like and what it would be like to live in that time."

"Same here but watching both those shows we love gives me a good idea."

Darrien is putting the game away and then Candy asks, "In the past days you were interested in what I powered my machines with, why and I know it's not just for an article."

Darrien says, "Your very perceptive."

"I'm very deductive, as you delivered your questions to me, that was the one part of my science you're interested in."

Darrien looks at her and there is some flutter in his veil, Candy senses some facial expression but not quite sure which. Candy then takes a final sip of her Lighting Cola and as it's empty, she then throws it in the recycle basket.

Candy then says, "I just have one question for you, I know that interest in my power source is for something that you have or are developing."

Candy takes the big black circular dice and then rolls it and then says, "I've rolled."

Candy, she then hands him the dice and says, "Now it's your turn."

"That's fair enough."

Darrien looks at the dice and he then makes his roll.

"Like you, I can't disclose all the information, I can only give you some idea."

Darrien takes the last sip of his Lighting cola and then throws it in the recycle can.

Darrien says, "I know exactly the device you use, but I won't say what it is not yet anyway, but I can wait to see this independent power source you possess."

Candy then folds her arms and says, "How do you know, I'll ever reveal it to you, I probably never will."

"I don't, besides I like the challenge."

Candy, she looks down and then looks at Darrien and says, "Same time next week."

Darrien then nods his head yes and says, "I wouldn't. miss it, for anything."

Meanwhile back in the present time, at the confession room, Miles Mayhem is looking through the file while talking. Miles says, "So for about three months you were with her.

Miles flips through and see a few articles for Darrien's science magazine which include Candy, he then looks up at him and says, "I can see that both of you clearly made history in such time."

Darrien talks while his head is down, "In Gravity Falls things history can happen tomorrow; besides we both had common interests and aims."

"But you kept your identity secret from the rest."

"I was willing to work for them but that was one thing I couldn't do because, I wasn't entirely ready for them yet, but mainly there were just a lot of things they weren't ready to understand."

"But also, because you weren't ready for your brother to find out about you."

Darrien looks down and says, 'Yes, that's true."

"Never mind all that, when did you finally find the object, I'm interested so don't disappoint me."

Darren looks down and ponders the question.

Flashback three months latter both Candy and Darrien are at Candy's garage, and they are both on a sofa and both are busy with their laptops while discussing some science while don't do some homework as both help each other out. Soon their done and then Candy gets up stretches and says, "You know, I think it's time."

Candy, she comes to her safe Darrien sees this and then puts his hand up as a signal to stop and says, "Wait, are you sure?"

"Yes, I need to get further in my science with this thing and your worthy enough for the task."

"Alright if you're sure, it's what you want, but what about your friends why aren't you letting them in on it."

Candy then looks up at Darrien and says, "As experienced as they are, none of them are as scientifically minded as both you and I, there are things about this object I'm about to show you that only both of us can understand."

"You know there is still a lot I haven't told you about myself, like…."

Darrien, he points to both his face and his bionic arm on his left. Candy nods and says, "I know you will someday; we worked together long enough, and you've disclosed a little about yourself along the way so it's more than fair for me to do the same, and for our science project I'm going to need an assistant."

Darrien says, "Usually I like being the lead scientist but due to how important this finding may 'be I'm willing to bow to new experts.

Candy, she goes to her safe and she presses one button, and the metal door slides down and reveals a flat screen. Candy, she has an old console joystick with one button with a sensor on the front end of the small joystick platform, making it wireless. She presses a button and the screen it then flickers and then shows a screen of the game of Ms. Pacman from the "Atari 2600". After she completes the maze, the screen goes blank and then there is suddenly a click and the screen door opens a crack. Candy takes the screen doors edge and before she opens it all the way she looks at Darrien and says, "You told me during our second case together that one of your pursuits was in uncovering and finding many lost and even possibly occult and cursed objects, are you familiar with the Sphere in 1975"

Darrien says, "Yeah, according to volume one of "Wala Wala Weird and Mystical Treasures" the story is that in 1975 somewhere in one of the forestlands in Daval Country of Florida, there was a forest fire and in the aftermath a sphere was found."

Darrien then takes a breath and continues, "Supposedly, this object did a lot of things that defied the laws of physics and even science, but unfortunately the sphere was taken before it could be tested by professionals and as for the family that found it, they weren't seen again."

Candy says, "You always know it was this object, why didn't you say anything before?"

Darrien says, "From some of the energy readings I collected from that area and my time with you, I deduced the possibility but that's all I had a possibility no hard proof."

Darrien then lean in and continues, "Besides I wanted to make sure the object was in the right hands, and I can see it is."

Candy has a small smile and then Darrien continues and says, "Answer me this question, how were you able to find this object; you never told me about that."

Candy says, "I was stargazing, and I saw an object from the sky just fly by and then strike one part of our forest."

"How did you track it?"

"As soon as the fire was out, I went sometime the next morning, using an energy tracking program on my phone I created; I thought at first it was a meteor as they emit a little energy after they strike land, but the thing is they have a certain signature, the signature from the object was different and unusually strong."

She then takes something out of the safe and continues, "I ventured deep into the forest, and I found this."

Candy then moves away from the safe and put something up from her hands and shows Darrien the object which is in her bare hands, and he sees it's a metallic sphere which is silver, and the light reflects off it which emits a shine. He sees it's the size of an outdoor bouncy ball and he looks at it his body unmoving physically.

Candy notices this and can't make out an expression behind the black veil he still wears nor his body language, and Candy says, "Hey, are you alright?"

Darrien shakes his head and then looks at her and says, "What, oh…. yes…yes it's just….wow I just stunned, it's just that I never thought in a million years I would ever see this lost object in my life but now….."

Candy smiles and says, "Neither did I but yet here it is, whether by luck or fate if you believe in those things, it doesn't really matter because here it is for both of us, waiting to uncover its secrets."

Darrien looks at her and says, "Is it ok if I touch it, just to get a feel for its reality."

"Of course."

Darrien he then approaches Candy slowly and then with his human right arm and as his right palm comes close and in contact suddenly Darrien felt some strange surge that quickly overcomes his whole body and he suddenly falls down on his back toward the ground and then suddenly he blacks out.
