Vaggie scrambled over and pulled Charlie onto her lap.
"Charlie! Charlie wake up!" Vaggie pleaded.
The hole in Charlie's chest was bleeding profusely. Clara was firing a gun at the direction of the sniper, while Odette went to check on Charlie. She looked at the bullet hole and there was good news and bad news.
"It missed her heart." Odette said, "Unfortunately, the bullet is still inside her."
"Get it out of her!" Vaggie said, desperate.
"I can't... not here." Odette said, "The only place that this can be removed-"
"Oh no... don't you dare say-"
"Is at Mom's office."
Vaggie was about to complain, when more shots rang out. Clara came over and put one of Charlie's arms around her neck, while Odette did the same to the other.
"Well we can't stay here!" Clara said, pointing and firing the rest of her ammo at the sniper, "We have to move. NOW!"
Vaggie realized she had no choice, not if she wanted Charlie to live. Taking to the roof tops She took over providing cover for her sisters while they carried the injured princess, slashing one sinner that arrived to kill her, then another, then throwing her spear down at one who was about to shoot at Clara. Performing a front flip, Vaggie wretched her spear from the dead Sinners chest
"So much for a new start in life" she muttered to herself.
She was right back where she had been several years ago, wielding her angelic weapon, roaming the dangerous streets of hell with her sisters. Except now there was something more important on the line than Carmine Industries, this was for Charlie, the love of her life, who was barely clinging to her own in that very moment.
The trio barely made it to Carmine industries. Vaggie looked at Charlie... she wasn't looking too good. Charlie's once bright red cheeks where now a pale, sickly pinks, and she was drifting in and out of consciousness Clara, with the princess' arm draped around her shoulders for support, saw all of this as well and squeezed charlie's hand.
"Hold on your highness, we've got you. It'll be OK." Shed genuinely grown to like Charlie in the short time she (clara) had spent at the hotel and was almost at concerned for her as Vaggie.
They opened the door and went in.
"Mother, we have a problem!" Odette called out.
Carmilla was on her feet in an instant.
"Odette, where have you...been?"
The weapons overlord had faltered due to Clara and Vaggie bringing in Charlie, who had fully lost consciousness and stopped responding, with Vaggie holding a hand over Charlies bleeding wound.
"Please... save her." Vaggie said.
Carmilla looked at Vaggie, for the first time in about a year.
"... I will." Carmilla said, "Girls, bring her to a room, and get me supplies in order to help... I need to speak with Vaggie."
Odette and Clara glanced at each other, sharing a nod before carefully taking Charlie somewhere more comfortable. Carmilla looked at Vaggie, before putting a hand on her cheek, using her thumb to wipe away the tears running down Vaggie's face.
"I... I can't lose her." Vaggie said.
Carmilla pulled Vaggie into a hug.
"You won't... I promise." Carmilla said, "Mothers don't lie."
