Chapter 5: As Bright as the Sun:
Fédora's POV:
We were having dinner, but then the Tsar came in. "Here is your third dress," says the Tsar.
He managed to have a dress as bright as the Sun made!
"It certainly is bright," says my Father.
Singer/Chorus: Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good, in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
We take a walk, the sun is shining down
Burns my feet as they touch the ground
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
And then we lie, beneath a shady tree
I love her and she's loving me
She feels good, she knows she's looking fine
I'm so proud to know that she is mine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine!
"Now, is that it," asks the Tsar.
"Actually... there is one more thing," I said.
"Will that be the last," asks the Tsar.
"A cloak... made from... the hide... of the donkey," I said.
My Father looked horrified.
"What donkey," asks the Tsar.
"The family pet," says my Father, "please, leave us alone." The Tsar bows and leaves. "What was that?"
"Father, I..."
"I understand you don't wish to marry him, but... that donkey is more than just our source of wealth! He's a part of the family!"
"Plus, you will lose all that gold," says Putilova, "and oh yeah, he's a living creature!"
"I know, but..."
"I'm going to tell the Tsar he can't do it," says my Father. He then walks away.
What have I done?
