Lost

Chapter 2

Tony and Angela are having dinner. Angela is deep in her thoughts and doesn't notice when Mona enters the kitchen and sits down next to her.

"Angela?" she waves her hand back and forth in front of Angela's face. Tony, too, seems absent.

"Ok you two, tell me what's going on, I can't stand this silence". Mona says louder.

She looks back and forth between the two. "HELLOOO?" she calls out loudly.

"Mother. What?" asks Angela, as if roused from her sleep.

"Is everything alright with both of you? You look like you're miles away with your thoughts."

Tony looks at Angela, then Mona "so yes it's all right" he mumbles more quietly.

"Excuse me? Yes, exactly, i can see that everything is so fine. Tell me, what's going on?"

„You don't miss anything, Mona. Well, it's nothing earth-shattering. Except that I met Kathleen yesterday, so I didn't meet her directly. I was studying with my study group and she was suddenly there. She wanted to pick up books from Steve. And when I was in the kitchen, she followed me and wanted to talk to me. I said I didn't have time and left!"

"You did well Tony! But what did she want from you?" Mona asks.

"I have no idea Mona... She probably wanted me back or something...!"

Tony continues to drink his tea, looking at Angela. He takes her hand and squeezes it slightly.

"Well, she can wait a long time, only the end of the world can separate you two now," Mona says, patting Tony on the shoulder. "Don't worry so much about her. So, I'll go again, it's boring here..."

"Mother!" Angela shakes her head. Mona gets up again, winks at both of them and leaves the kitchen again.

Tony gives Angela a kiss. He notices that the topic hits her in the stomach and tries not to go into it in more detail.

The next two days are rather hectic. Tony is learning a lot and Angela has her hands full at the agency. A new customer wants to make baby powder big. Angela is working like crazy on different scripts for the commercial and for all the billboards. Then they finally come to an agreement, so that the meeting is over at 4 pm. Satisfied, she drives home.

In the meantime, Tony is also on his way home. He's walking around campus with Steve. They talk excitedly about baseball.

"But like I told you, the Jets are going to make it this season!" says Tony, positioning himself to mimic an imaginary punch, "and peng off through the roof ahaha!"

"All right..." Steve laughs and pats him on the shoulder in a friendly way.

Then Kathleen approaches them.

"Oh oh..." Flustert Steve.

"What?" Tony looks around and notices her. His face contorts from happy to tense. ...what does she want here?...

"Hey guys..." she says kindly and slightly excited.

Tony and Steve look at each other for a moment. "I have to go you two, see you tomorrow Tony" Steve quickly disappears without Tony being able to say anything.

"Hey Kathleen, what's up?" Tony looks around the campus and thinks of a good excuse so that he can quickly escape from the situation.

"Tony, I really need to talk to you!" she says tensely.

Tony rolls his eyes. "Kathleen. I know you want me back, but I'm sorry, it's over. I'm dating Angela now. So please don't do it!" he says louder, turns around frantically and leaves.

"But Tony, wait!" Kathleen calls after him. Tony waves his hand in the negative, without turning around and walks quickly across the meadow to the goal. Kathleen stops on the grounds and just shakes her head. You can see how horrified she is by Tony's behavior.

When Tony arrives home, he throws his bag into the corner, rolls up his sleeves and trudges up the stairs. He goes to Angela's bedroom and then to the other rooms to collect the laundry. He then quickly stuffs them into the washing machine.

... my goodness Kathleen is really persistent that she doesn't understand that I don't want anything from her...

He stays in the bathroom for a moment, turns on the washing machine and rearranges the shampoo bottles and bath oil bottles. Then he goes back down to the kitchen.

He immediately gets to work.

After 40 minutes, the chili and rice are ready. He chops the cucumbers and tomatoes for the salad.

Angela comes through the swinging door: "Hello Tony," she says louder.

"Ouch... Shit" Tony holds on to his finger, in which he has cut himself out of fright.

Angela rushes over to him with a piece of kitchen towel. "Oh dear, Tony. Something like this usually only happens to me," she says casually. She takes his hand and presses the towel on his finger to stop the bleeding. "It's not so bad Angela, I was in my thoughts and didn't hear you coming, so I was a little scared and then cut myself. Half as wild". He pulls his hand towards him and quickly wraps the kitchen towel around his finger.

Angela gives him a little kiss on it and smiles at him in love.

"Tony, I have great news, we have the customer!"

"Which customer?" he asks.

"Well, the one with the baby powder.` Baby's happiness`. That's what I told you about yesterday. It wasn't easy, but now we finally have the big fish on the hook. Haha!" she says enthusiastically and claps her hands.

"Oh Angela, I'm really happy about that!" He unwinds the kitchen towel again and looks at how deep the cut is. "It's not deep, a plaster is enough".

"Wait, I'll get you one" Angela walks out of the kitchen. At that moment, the phone rings.

Angela picks up the phone "Hello, here Angela Bower, who's there?"

A soft voice can be heard "um yes, hello this is Kathleen, is Tony there?"

Angela pauses for a moment and thinks about what to say. "Yes, he's here, but unfortunately he's not speaking right now! Is there anything I can do?"

"Yes, I really need to talk to him!"

"Aha... So I know from Tony that he doesn't want to talk to you. What can be so important that you talk to him every day on campus and now you have to call him here as well?" asks Angela slightly.

"I...well...it's about university," Kathleen says curtly.

"I'm sorry Kathleen, I can't help you. And neither does Tony, because he doesn't want to. Please ask your fellow students, have a nice day" Angela hangs up the phone.

...Was I too harsh with her?... Anyway, she should leave us alone...

Tony comes into the living room. "Who's that? Are you all right?"

"Yes, it's all right. That was your stupid Kathleen. Why is she calling here? If she has questions about class or something like that, she should ask her other fellow students! Come on, let's eat!" says Angela and goes tensely into the kitchen.

... What about my plaster now... Tony runs upstairs to the bathroom and puts a band-aid on his finger. Then he goes back to Angela in the kitchen. They both enjoy the chilli, even if they are still quite annoyed by Kathleen's call.

After a good half hour, Tony clears away the dishes.

"Angela, what do we want to do today? We've got to celebrate your baby powder customer. Maybe we can go to the cinema again"

Angela smiles slightly. She loves it when Tony tries to distract her and most of the time it works.

"Hm, let me think about it for a moment... well," she says. "I'll change quickly and then we're ready to go" She walks out of the kitchen and upstairs to her room.

"Great," he says and puts the rest oft he dishes in the dishwasher. Then he also goes upstairs to his room to put on a fresh shirt and put some perfume on it.

They both go down the stairs almost at the same time and put on their jackets. Afterwards they drive the Jaguar to the cinema.

Tony buys a large portion of popcorn and the cinema tickets. Today is 80s day and they watch the movie `Back to the Future part 2`. Tony and Angela take a seat in the cinema hall, which gradually fills up with the other cinema visitors. Tony looks around and suddenly discovers Kathleen sitting two rows to the left in front of him. Sitting next to her is Clark, a college student Tony knows. His mouth is open.

"Tony? Are you alright?" she whispers to him.

He shakes his head and points his finger at the front rows to Kathleen.

"I don't believe it... The woman is chasing me!"

"Oh Tony, that's nonsense, this is a free country and it's just a coincidence that she's here now."

"A very strange coincidence, don't you think?" Tony continues to stare at Kathleen, who is talking animatedly with Clark.

"I swear to you, the woman is stalking me... Who knows, maybe she'll have our phone tapped!"

"Tony, please, stop now. You're exaggerating. She's here in company and it doesn't look like she's seen you here! Now shhh".

"It's all camouflage, believe me..." He says louder, hearing a loud shhhh .

Unfortunately, Tony has a hard time concentrating on the movie. He munches on the popcorn and keeps glancing at Kathleen.

When the film is finally over, the cinema guests pour out. Angela and Tony go outside holding hands. They have to blink their eyes for a moment and get used to the bright light.

"And Angela, what do you think, will we have these cool sneakers sometime in the future?"

Angela laughs "who knows, but I liked this flying skateboard better..." Then they are interrupted.

"Hey..."

At the same time, Tony and Angela turn to the right where Kathleen and Clark are standing. They're not thrilled that they have to talk to Kathleen now, but they try not to let it show.

Tony scratches his head "hey..."

"Hi Tony" Clark shakes hands with Tony. Tony then points at Angela "Clark, this is Angela, the love of my life" he says and gives her a kiss on the cheek, which makes Angela blush quickly. "Hi Clark, it's a pleasure to meet you" she shakes his hand.

"What did you think of the film? I could see it 1,000 times," Clark says.

Angela and Tony answer "so do we" at the same time and have to laugh at the same time.

Kathleen looks at them. Then she becomes very pale around the nose. "Excuse me" She quickly runs back into the cinema towards the toilet. Tony looks at her for a moment and then looks at Clark questioningly.

"She's been doing this for a few days, she keeps getting sick, she said she caught a virus, I'll go to her."

Tony looks skeptical, but tries not to let it show. "Come on Angela, let's go home, we'll make ourselves comfortable yes..." he winks at her and they both walk to the Jaguar and drive home.
