Episode 174: Playing with Fire and Thunder!
As Mew has made it to round two of the Silver Conference victory Tournament. Mew and Gary have battled with their Pokemon. Fortunately, he still had Charizard, who was able to make a last minute comeback by defeating Gary's most powerful Pokemon, Blastoise, which gave Mew the win!
And now, Mew is going to battle against Harrison from the Hoenn Region.
The announcer says, "The second match in round two of the Johto League Silver Conference is about to begin! Mew's first Pokemon will be Pikachu, and starting off with his Kecleon is Harrison!"
"So, we're up against Kecleon," Mew says and brings out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Kecleon, the Color Swap Pokemon. A Normal Type. Kecleon is able to blend into its surroundings by changing the color of its body."
Mew calls out, "Be careful, Pikachu! That Kecleon is able to hide itself!"
"Pika!" (Gotcha!) Pikachu answers.
At the sidelines, Tomo, Jenny, Molly, and the others are cheering. The others see the Pokemon Harrison is using first.
"He's starting off with Kecleon," Misty says.
"I'm afraid this is gonna be one tough battle for Mew. Who knows which Pokemon Harrison has.
"To be in the best four, Mew has got to win this round," Professor Oak says.
"I just know she'll do great," Adriana says.
Up in the grandstands, Gary watches near the entry/exit.
Then the announcer says, "The judge is now ready, the match can finally begin!"
Mew calls out, "Let's go, Pikachu!"
Pikachu charges in.
Harrison calls out, "Disappear, Kecleon!"
Kecleon goes invisible, though its red stripe is.
"Figured he might do this first," Mew says.
Pikachu stops and looks around.
The announcer says, "Kecleon is using its special ability, known as Color Change, to hide itself!"
"I can't shoot a picture of it," Daisy says.
"You'll be able to capture part of it, Daisy,. Kecleon can't change its colors completely. The pattern on its stomach is still visible," Professor Oak says.
"Yes, I see," Daisy says.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Kecleon hasn't moved yet, do a Quick Attack, now!"
Pikachu charges in, but Kecleon leaps back and hides in the grass.
"I can't believe how fast that Kecleon can move!" Jen says.
"Speed on top of invisibility is really gonna be a challenge!" Brock says.
Kecleon starts running circles around Pikachu through the grass while invisible, like a ninja.
"Impressive. It's been trained to move faster as a form of defense, which helps to compensate for its less than perfect invisibility," Professor Oak says.
"Now how am I supposed to get a decent picture that won't even stand still?" Adriana asks.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, it moves too fast to see! Lock onto its position by listening!"
Pikachu agrees and he starts listening for Kecleon's movements, and soon finds and runs toward it.
Harrison calls out, "Kecleon, do a Lick attack, now!"
Kecleon lashes out its tongue and Licks Pikachu to paralyze him.
"Pikachu's had a direct hit by a Lick attack!" The announcer says.
Harrison calls out, "Kecleon, throw Pikachu!"
Kecleon's tongue lashes out again, grabs and tosses Pikachu up before he lands with a thud.
"Pikachu!" Molly cries out.
"I'm afraid that against Kecleon's speed, invisibility and long tongue, Pikachu could get licked," Professor Oak says.
Mew calls out, "Hang in there, Pikachu! Come on, buddy!"
Pikachu gets up and looks around for Kecleon as it runs circles around him.
"Kecleon has been able to combine its Color Swap ability with the grass field to gain an advantage over Pikachu!" The announcer says.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, be careful! It could be anywhere!"
But then Harrison calls out, "Kecleon, Psybeam attack, now!"
Kecleon fires the attack from the grass, but Pikachu manages to leap out of the path of the beam, only to get blown back by the shockwave from the explosion.
"Pikachu!" Mew calls out.
"Pikachu narrowly escaped that Psybeam but took the damage from the force of the shockwave!" The announcer says.
Then Harrison calls out, "Kecleon, another Lick attack, now!"
Kecleon lashes out its tongue once more.
But Mew calls out, "Dive into the grass, Pikachu, quick!
Pikachu does so.
Then Harrison calls out, "Kecleon, use your tongue to find Pikachu! Use it to cut down the grass!"
Kecleon becomes visible again and spins around with its tongue out, cutting the grass with ease.
The announcer says, "Kecleon's tongue is incredible! It's mowing the grass! But something has stopped it."
"No way!" Harrison exclaims in shock.
As he finds that Pikachu had caught Kecleon's tongue.
"Way to go, Pikachu! Hang on tight!" Mew cheers.
"I'm finally able to get some amazing shots!" Daisy says, taking a picture.
"Pikachu has got Kecleon by the tongue, and Kecleon now appears to be immobilized!" The announcer says.
Then Mew calls out, "Now, Pikachu, Thunderbolt attack, go!"
Pikachu launches the attack that travels through Kecleon's tongue and nails Kecleon, defeating it easily.
The referee announces, "Kecleon is unable to battle, Pikachu wins!"
Kecleon's picture blacks out on the scoreboard.
The announcer says, "Kecleon has tasted defeat! Kecleon's Color Swap ability made it a difficult battle for Pikachu, but a Thunderbolt at just the right moment turned things around to give Mew the first victory!"
Harrison calls back Kecleon, "That was a great job, Kecleon. You deserve a nice, long rest."
"Are you okay, Pikachu?" Mew calls out.
"Pikachu!" (I'm just fine!) Pikachu answers.
"Think you can still battle?" Mew asks.
Pikachu nods and is determined.
"I'll be more than happy to start things off this time!" Harrison says, and calls out, "Go, Sneasel!"
And Sneasel calls out.
Mew starts the first attack, "Go, Pikachu, Thunderbolt, now!"
Pikachu launches the attack, but Sneasel proves too fast and avoids each shot.
Harrison calls out, "Go, Sneasel, Metal Claw attack!"
Sneasel's right claw starts glowing and nails Pikachu.
"Sneasel makes a clean hit with its Metal Claw!" The announcer says.
Pikachu soon falls into defeat.
"Pikachu!" Mew cries out.
The referee announces, "Pikachu is unable to battle, Sneasel's the winner!"
"Pikachu!" Mew cries out and runs to him.
"I can't believe Pikachu lost," Misty says.
And Brock says, "Don't worry, Mew will make a comeback."
"Right," Misty says.
Mew carries Pikachu to the sidelines bench.
"Pika," (Sorry.) Pikachu says.
But Mew smiles and says, "Good job, Pikachu. You deserve a nice rest."
"Good battling, Pikachu," Brock says.
"Yeah. you did great out there," Casey says.
"You put up an awesome fight," Misty says.
Mew sets Pikachu down, "I'm really proud of you, Pikachu."
"Pika." (Thanks, pal.) Pikachu says.
"You're welcome," Mew says.
She returns to the battlefield and Mew calls out her next Pokeball, "Go Totodile!"
And Totodile enters the field.
Mew calls out, "Water Gun, Totodile!"
Totodile then fires the attack.
Harrison calls out, "Dodge it, and use Metal Claw!"
Sneasel darts around, avoiding the oncoming Water Gun, and makes its claw glow once more.
Mew calls out, "Now use Bite attack, Totodile!"
And with that, Totdile bites down on Sneasel's fight Metal Claw, stopping the attack.
"Ouch! Looks like Sneasel's trapped by Totodile's powerful jaws!" The announcer says.
"No! But she can have a very mean bite!" Mew adds.
"Oh no!" Harrison says, shocked.
"Hang on tight, Totodile!" Mew calls out.
Totodile starts dancing around, smacking Sneasel around as he goes.
"It seems to be dancing?" Spencer says, confused.
Diana giggles, "That's kind of funny."
"Way to go, Totodile! Now finish it!" Mew calls out.
Totodile lets go of Sneasel's hand and smacks it with his tail.
"Oh no! Sneasel!" Harrison calls out.
Sneasel soon lands in defeat.
Soon, the referee announces, "Sneasel is unable to battle, Totodile wins!"
Sneasel's picture blacks out on the scoreboard.
"Yeah, Totodile!" Mew cheers.
Totodile does a victory dance.
"The crowd is really loving Totodile's victory dance! It sure is pleased! Way to go, Totodile!" The announcer says.
Harrison smiles, "Let's see now. I've got it!" And calls out his next Pokemon, "Go, Hypno!"
And Hypno comes out.
"Look at that. A psychic Pokemon," Misty says.
"Mew will have his work cut out for her with this Pokémon. Hypno not only has strong psychic attacks, but fights well in hand to hand combat, too," Brock says.
Mew calls out, "Totodile, use Scary Face!"
Totodile performs the move, but it has no effect at all.
"Totodile's Scary Face has no effect!" The announcer says.
Harrison calls out, "Now, Hypno, Hypnosis attack!"
Hypno's pendulum starts swinging back and forth.
"Totodile, don't look at it!" Mew calls out.
However, Totodile is easily hypnotized and starts swaying with the pendulum.
"This looks bad," Brock says.
Misty calls out, "Hang in there, Totodile! Try to turn away!"
And the announcer says, "Hypno's Hypnosis has Totodile completely spellbound! Hypno has total control!"
"Alright, now, Hypno! Psychic attack, go!" Harrison calls out.
Hypno's eyes glow blue as it lifts Totodile up.
"Hypno's using its Psychic attack!" The announcer says.
"Now send Totodile flying!" Harrison says.
Hypno does so, right to New, knocking it out in the process.
"Totodile!" Mew calls out.
"Totodile is unable to battle, Hypno wins!" The referee announces.
The announcer says, "Hypno has defeated Totodile with its Psychic attack, and without having to take one step since entering the ring!"
Mew then calls out, "You're up next, Snorlax! Go!"
Snorlax comes out, but is asleep.
Mew sighs and rolls her eyes, "Oh Snorlax."
The announcer says, "Mew's third Pokémon is Snorlax, but it appears to be sleeping!"
"Snorlax is so cute!" Adriana says.
"But this is not good at all," Tracey says.
"Oh boy, way to start off the battle with sleep," Mew says.
"You say that again," Mew says.
Casey, Jen, and Molly nod their heads in reply.
"Well, I guess Snorlax is safe now from being hypnotized," Brock says.
Then Harrison calls out, "Now, quick, Hypno, use Dream Eater attack!"
Hypno's right hand glows red, and then Snorlax glows red as some of the red goes toward Hypno.
"What's a Dream Eater attack?" Adriana asks.
"Hypno is stealing Snorlax's energy, making Hypno stronger and Snorlax weaker," Professor Oak says.
"Hypno is really draining a lot of energy from Snorlax!" The announcer says.
Mew calls out, "Snorlax! You gotta wake up, Snorlax! Wake up, now!"
Snorlax soon stands, clearly unhappy, causing Hypno to worry as the red glow fades.
"Uh oh," Mew says.
"I think Hypno made Snorlax mad," Tomo says.
Daisy sweat drops, "Oh, my goodness. Snorlax seems to be in a very angry mood."
"Indeed. I'd imagine that's because it was attacked while sleeping very peacefully," Professor Oak says.
Mew then calls out, "Go, Snorlax! Hyper Beam, now!"
Snorlax fires the attack and nails Hypno.
"Oh, no! Hypno!" Harrison cries out.
Hypno soon falls, knocked out.
"Hypno is unable to battle, Snorlax is the winner!" The referee announces.
"Good work, Snorlax," Mew says.
Then sheepishly says, "Remember to never disturbed you in your sleep."
"That was good. But I'll be better," Harrison says.
Soon, the announcer says, "Ladies and gentlemen, with three of Harrison's Pokemon now unable to battle, we'll be taking a five minute break."
Mew joins up with the others.
"You're doing great so far," Jen says.
"Yeah, but Harrison still has three Pokemon left," Mew says.
"You're right, and chances are that Harrison might save his Blaziken for last," Brock says.
"I know. It won't be easy," Mew says.
She then turns to see Gary and says in thought, "But still, I'm gonna finish this battle in a way that'll make Gary proud of me, too."
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is seen helping out at a nearby construction site.
"Team Rocket is finally gonna get its very own building! How about dat?" Meowth says.
"Who knew our badges would sell so well? I guess when it comes to badge design, I'm king of the pin," James replies happily.
"Oh? I think you'll find it was my marketing skills and management that did it," Jessie says.
"I deserve the credit!" James says.
"Where would you be without me?" Jessie questions.
But Meowth says, "Hey, break it up! Truth is, you'd be nowheres without Meowth."
"Anyway, a few more badges sold and we'll have our new building to move into," James says.
And Wobbuffet says, "Wobbuffet!" (That's progress!)
Back at the battlefield.
The announcer says, "We now go back to the quarterfinals of the Silver Conference victory tournament to join the second half of this exciting match between Mew and Harrison!"
"Don't worry Gary, I'm really gonna win this one, for both of us," Mew says and holds out her next Pokemon.
The announcer says, "The second half of the second match of the quarterfinals of the Silver Conference victory tournament will now begin!"
Mew calls out, "Noctowl, I choose you!"
And Noctowl comes out.
Then Harrison calls out, "Go, Steelix!"
And soon, Steelix comes out.
Mew then calls out the first attack, "Alright, Noctowl, Confusion!"
Noctowl's horn glows blue before Steelix starts writhing in pain.
"Don't give up, Steelix! Sandstorm, now!" Harrison calls out.
Steelix makes part of its body rotate, creating the sandstorm and blinding Noctowl.
"Noctowl can't see Steelix in this sand!" Mew says to herself.
Then Harrison calls out, "Dig attack, Steelix!"
Steelix bursts from the ground and nails Noctowl.
"Noctowl, no!" Mew cries out.
Surprised, Misty says, "Harrison's one of the best trainers I've seen. Even though Noctowl can fly, it hardly has any advantage over Steelix."
"Don't worry, when it comes to a challenge, Mew is at her best," Brock says.
"You think so?" Casey asks.
"Yeah, even though Harrison really seems determined to shut Mew down," Brock says.
"Here we go, Noctowl! Use Hypnosis!" Mew calls out.
Then Harrison calls out, "Steelix, use Iron Tail, now!"
Steelix proves faster and nails Noctowl.
The announcer says, "Steelix's Iron Tail hits the mark!"
Noctowl soon crashes to the ground, defeated.
"Noctowl!" Mew cries out.
And with that, the Referee says, "Noctowl is unable to battle, Steelix has won!"
"Yeah! Good work, Steelix!" Harrison happily says.
"That's a shame. Noctowl lost," Daisy says.
"You know, I think that five minute break could've made the difference," Professor Oak says, "Mew was on a winning streak until then, but Harrison used the break to focus his mind on new match strategies and came up with a great plan for how to fight back.
Then the announcer says, "Harrison has begun the second half with a stunning victory! Both trainers have three Pokemon remaining!"
Mew then calls out, "Snorlax, I choose you!"
Snorlax comes out.
Mew calls out, "Go, Snorlax, Hyper Beam, now!"
Snorlax charges for the attack.
But Harrison calls out, "Steelix, use your Bind attack!"
Steelix closes in and puts the squeeze on Snorlax.
"That Bind attack is doing the job!" The announcer says,
"Snorlax!" Mew calls out.
"Use Crunch on it!" Harrison calls out.
Steelix closes in.
But Mew calls out, "Now, Snorlax, Ice Punch attack!"
"Will Ice Punch work?" Jen asks.
"I hope so for Mew's sake," Tomo says.
Somehow, Snorlax manages to get loose and nails Steelix hard with an Ice Punch uppercut.
"It's a direct hit!" The announcer says.
Then Mew calls out, "Finish it off with Hyper Beam!"
Snorlax fires the attack and hits Steelix.
"The power of steel is toppling!" The announcer says.
"Steelix, no!" Harrison calls out.
Steelix topples over, defeated.
The referee announces, "Steelix is unable to battle! Snorlax wins!"
Brock understands "I get it! That Ice Punch was just the way to help it escape from the Bind attack!"
"So Mew is making a comeback," Misty says.
"I had a feeling Ice Punch would work, even against a steel Pokemon. Good thing I didn't worry too much about Pokemon type or I would've missed that chance," Mew says.
"Mew's moves have really been impressive so far. Let's see how you like this one!" Harrison says. He calls out his next Pokemon, "Go, Houndoom!"
Houndoom comes out.
Mew calls out to her Pokemon, "Go, Snorlax! Hyper Beam Attack one last time!"
Snorlax fires the attack.
Then Harrison calls out, "Counter it!"
Houndoom glows red and reflects the attack right back at Snorlax, which nails it.
"Houndoom's Counter has sent Snorlax's Hyper Beam right back at it!" The announcer says.
Snorlax falls over, defeated.
"Snorlax, no!" Mew cries out.
The referee announces, "Snorlax is unable to battle, Houndoom wins!"
"Well that battle sure ended quickly," Tracey says.
"That's because Houndoom's Counterattack returns the opponent's attack," Professor Oak says, "And it uses twice the force, so Snorlax's Hyper Beam was sent back to him at double the power."
"So his Houndoom can use Counterattack?!" Tomo asks, shocked.
"Harrison sure has a collection of pretty unique Pokémon," Brock says.
"Now both of them have only two Pokémon remaining," Misty says.
The Pokemon cheer.
"Harrison's really an awesome trainer, but this match is far from over!" Mew says.
She then calls out, "Alright Eevee, let's do this!"
And with that, Eevee gets into the battlefield.
"Eevee, huh," Harrison replies.
"What a surprising decision! Will Mew regret choosing Eevee as her fifth Pokemon?" The announcer says.
"Interesting choice to use Eevee," Cassy says.
"True, however, Eevee can be one strong cookie. Especially how long those two have been together and can use moves normal Eevee can't," Brock says.
"Yeah. Harrison will be in for a surprise," Jen says.
Professor Oak says, "Eevee is an interesting choice. Besides size differences, Eevee is able to beat opponents bigger than she is."
"How do you think Mew will do?" Daisy asks.
"In theory, with size, Mew might be at a disadvantage, but given how strong Eevee can be, we'll have to see what Mew will do," Professor Oak says.
Mew calls out the first attack, "Alright Eevee, give them your Swift Attack!"
Eevee launches the attack.
Harrison calls out, "Flamethrower attack! Go, Houndoom!"
Houndoom fires the attack and it ends up bringing the Swift Attack and.
"That flamethrower was able to counter the Swift Attack!"
"Use Take Down, Eevee!" Mew calls out.
Harrison then calls out, "Houndoom, Bite attack!"
Both Pokemon charge and avoid each other's attacks, and Eevee is over Houndoom.
Mew then calls out, "Use Stone Edge!"
"Stone Edge?!" Harrison questions in shock.
Eevee lands on the ground as she performs the attack. The attack strikes at Houndoom with full force.
"No! Houndoom!" Harrison cries out.
"Wow! I've never seen anything like it! Eevee was able to use Stone Edge and give Houndoom a powerful blow!" The announcer says.
"Bet no one was expecting this!" Mew says.
Harrison says, "Very interesting. That Take Down attack was just a distraction. I never expected an Eevee to use a Rock Type Attack."
"That was a really smart move by Mew. I'll bet Harrison was caught off guard," Misty says.
"Well, it's obvious that a Houndoom was!" Brock says.
"Now, Eevee, use Swift Attack!" Mew calls out.
Eevee performs the attack and strikes Houndoom.
Then Mew calls out, "That's the way, Eevee! Now finish it with Body Slam!"
Eevee jumps high in the air and comes down at Houndoom hard, knocking it out.
"Houndoom," Harrison calls out.
The referee announces, "Houndoom is unable to battle, Eevee wins it!"
Eevee runs to Mew, and her trainer picks her up.
"You were great, Eevee! You really showed em what you can do!" Mew says.
Eevee agrees.
Houndoom's picture blacks out on the scoreboard.
The announcer says, "Despite its size, Eevee has managed to win against Houndoom! Harrison is now down to his final Pokemon, and the question now is; what will that Pokemon be?"
"You're as good as I expected, Mew. And even though I haven't had as tough a battle as this one in a very long time," Harrison says and gets out his final Pokemon, "You're not gonna beat me! Like you, I won't except defeat! I choose Blaziken!"
And Blaziken comes out.
"Oh, my! A Blaziken!" Professor Oak says.
"Wow! I've never seen Blaziken this close before," Tracey says.
"It's very rare to see a Blaziken in these parts. That Pokemon has been sighted only in the Hoenn region, so this is a treat!" Professor Oak says.
Mew has her pokedex out and Dexter says, "Blaziken, the Blaze Pokemon. A fire and Fighting Type. Blaziken is able to easily leap over thirty story buildings with its great lower body strength."
"That's great! So now it's out of the frying pan and into another fire Pokemon!" Brock says.
"And Eevee is at a disadvantage with this one," Tomo says.
"You're right, Blaziken is also a Fighting Type and is stronger against a Normal Type like Eevee," Misty says.
"I hope Eevee can hang in there," Jen says.
"Hey Mew, think you can still battle?" Mew calls out.
Eevee nods in reply.
"Alright, then let's start with a Swift Attack!" Mew calls out.
Eevee performs the attack.
Then Harrison says, "Here we go now, Blaziken, kick down that Swift Attack!"
Blaziken does so at blinding speed, shocking everyone.
"No way!" Brock and Tomo cry out.
The announcer says, "The Swift attack had no effect at all! Without even relying on its fire attacks, this Pokemon has put on a great display of strength!"
"Blaziken's more than just strong. I think it's also one of the fastest Pokemon I've ever seen," Misty says.
"Yeah, this will be one difficult battle for Mew to do," Brock says.
"Alright Eevee, give it your Thunderbolt!" Mew calls out.
Eevee performs Thunderbolt with full force, but Blaziken dodges it with ease.
Mew calls out, "Eevee, use your Take Down!"
Eevee then dashes towards Blaziken.
"Rage Tackle, Eevee!" Mew calls out.
And with that, Eevee picks up more speed.
However, Harrison calls out, "Go, Blaziken! Fire Punch!"
Blaziken closes with a fiery fist and nails Eevee with full force.
"And Blaziken's Fire Punch did a lot of damage!" The announcer says.
Mew cries out, "Eevee, no!"
Eevee then crashes down in defeat.
The announcer says, "Eevee is unable to battle, Blaziken wins it!"
Eevee's picture blacks out on the scoreboard.
Mew rushes over, "Eevee!"
The announcer says, "That means Mew is also down to her final Pokemon! Blaziken has given us all an incredible display of power in defeating Eevee, but as the pressure mounts, can Harrison guide it to a final victory over Mew? What will Mew choose as his last Pokemon?"
Mew picks up Eevee and returns her to where the others are.
Eevee regains herself and feels bad for losing.
"It's okay Eevee, I'm very proud of you. You did great," Mew says.
Eevee smiles and nods.
Mew then gives Eevee to Misty and she returns to the battlefield.
Mew faces Harrison, "Harrison's Blaziken is a really strong Pokemon, but luckily, I have the perfect match to that power." She then calls out, "Alright Papa, let's finish this!"
And with that, Zeraora jumps into the battlefield.
The announcer says, "Incredible, Mew's final Pokemon is Zeraora. That means the second match of the quarterfinals of this victory tournament will be between a red hot, sizzling Fire Pokemon, vs. a bright yellow, volting Electric Type! Folks, I think we're in for quite a battle!"
"This battle's gonna be intense. From what I hear Zeraora, is good, and a high level Pokemon. And is the Pokemon that raised Mew. this will be a battle to remember," Harrison says.
"Alright Papa, let's start with a Thunder Attack, let's go!" Mew calls out.
Zeraora launches the Thunder attack.
Harriosn calls out, Blaziken, use Flamethrower right back!
Blaziken's Flamethrower fires.
Soon, both attacks collide.
Things are really heating up in this last match that will decide who goes on to the semifinals! Which trainer, Mew, or Harrison, will emerge from this battle that pits fire against thunder?!
