Please Don't Leave Me

Chapter Five

"It just… parking with a vampire" Buffy sighed heavily

It had been a few days since Dawn's Halloween make out session with a vampire. Buffy was still uneasy about the whole saga.

"I mean you'd think she would learn from my mistakes!" said Buffy

Spike cast Buffy a sidewards glance as the continued walking through the graveyard.

"It's just icky" Buffy shuddered

"Icky?" Spike raised an eyebrow

"It's a vampire and my sister okay? I'm allowed to have my feelings" Buffy told him

"Sure… but at least her vamp didn't kill any of her friends, beat her Watcher within an inch of his life and plan to destroy the world" Spike shrugged

"Okay point taken…" said Buffy

"Besides not all of us are so bad" said Spike

Buffy giggled "you're kidding?"

"I happen to think I'm an alright bloke" he told her

"Recently… yes… historically… no"

"I keep telling you I've changed" he smiled

"I know" she sighed

"You humans aren't all that great either"

"Oooh enlighten me" she smirked

Spike stopped and thought for a moment "you forget to just live in the moment because you're scared of what's to come"

"Okay 'Mr live in the moment'" she said turning to face him "What's the one thing you wanna do?"

Spike smirked a little and moved closer to her. To Buffy's surprise, she didn't back away. His lips were inches from hers, she felt a giddiness in her stomach as he moved closer to her. She closed her eyes as he touched her face softly. Spike leaned in to kiss her, but before their lips could touch, a demon crept up behind them. Without warning, Spike pushed Buffy to the ground.

"What the…?" Buffy yelled, she got to her feet and turned to see Spike battling an eight-foot demon covered in yellow scales with burning red eyes.

"Spike!" She exclaimed as the demon threw Spike to the side like he were a rag doll.

Buffy sprung to action and landed a series of punches to the demon. She was surprised that her punches seemed to have minimal impact on the creature. The demon picked Buffy up and held her above his head and threw her across the cemetery. She landed in a heap several yards away.

"Buffy!" Spike shouted worriedly

Amazingly the demon seemed to have had his fill of violence and retreated. Spike rushed to Buffy's side.

"Slayer are you okay?" He asked

"I'm okay" she said groggily

"Oh" said Spike seeing the blood come from Buffy's head "Thought I smelled blood"

Buffy touched her head with a grimace and looked at the blood on her finger tips "Oh" she laughed awkwardly "Ouch"

"Come on let's get you home" said Spike picking her up

"But the demon" said Buffy

"He's gone" Spike told her

"Oh good… I can pass out now" she said breathlessly

Spike picked her limp body up off the floor and began to run with her in his arms

Spike burst through the Magic Box door with Buffy in his arms, he almost took the door off it's hinges as he ran through "Little help here Scoobies" he bellowed

"Oh my god" Willow rose from her seat and rushed to help Spike.

"What the hell happened?" Asked Xander

"A demon" said Spike laying Buffy on the table

"What kind of demon?" Asked Anya

"Big one" said Spike still holding Buffy's hand as Tara rushed over with the first aid kit

Anya and Xander exchanged looks.

"Not really much to go on there" said Xander

"It was a bloody big demon! Yellow scales, red eyes! Sorry my descriptions aren't clear right now I'm kind of busy!" Said Spike

"We've got it from here" said Xander

"I'm not leaving" Said Spike, not taking his eyes off Buffy

"He can stay" said Buffy stirring "What happened?"

"Are you okay Buffy?" asked Willow

"I'm okay" said Buffy sitting up

"Looking a little pale there luv" said Spike

"I'm feeling a little woozy" said Buffy

"Big hit to the head… bound to hurt" said Spike

"Maybe we should take you to the hospital" said Anya

"No!" said Buffy "No hospital… I don't have hospital money… Spike take me home?"

"I can take you in the car" said Xander

"No I need some air" said Buffy getting off the table

Spike put a protective arm around her and the pair walked slowly out of the Magic Box.

"Well that was weird" said Xander "She must of hit her head pretty hard if she wants Captain Peroxide taking her home"

"They'll be okay right?" Asked Anya

"I think Spike can take care of her" said Tara putting away the cotton swabs and bandaids

"We'll check on her when we get home…besides maybe we should do a little digging into this demon" said Willow opening up her laptop

"Yeah, what did Spike say? Yellow scales?" asked Anya

"Yeah and red eyes" Xander shrugged

Spike had managed to get Buffy home safely and put her to bed.

"Thank you" said Buffy.

"For what?" asked Spike as he tucked her into bed.

"Getting me home…" she pouted, "…and tucking me in…"

Spike smiled. "You're not helpless; you're just having a bad day."

Buffy smiled gratefully. "How do you do that?"

"Do what?"

"Make me feel like I don't have to be the strong one all the time."

"Because you don't, contrary to what your friends think you're not just super Slayer. You're also Buffy." He told her.

Buffy smiled. "I guess so."

"Right well you're good and tucked in… I best be off" he told her

"Can you stay here?" asked Buffy "I mean I do have head trauma"

Spike nodded

"And maybe a concussion" said Buffy pouting slightly

"Okay guilt trip… i'll stay" he sighed

He shrugged off his coat and laid it on the chair in the corner of her room. He then attended to his boots sliding them off and putting them neatly next to the chair.

Buffy couldn't help but grin, here was a master vampire, one fourth of The Scourge of Europe. Putting his clothing neatly away before slipping into bed with a Slayer. If only The Watchers Council could see them now, Quentin Travers would have a coronary.

"Something funny Slayer?" He asked

"No" she smiled tapping the bed next to her

He sat on the bed and threw his feet round to the lounging position. Buffy lay down and turned to face him. Spike got a little more comfortable to snuggling down on to the pillow next to her.

"Are you okay?" He asked

"I'm fine, are you okay?" She asked

"I'm fine" he echoed her

They lay for a moment in silence.

"So earlier... before the demon" she said, her face a few inches from his.

"Yeah" he answered, tentatively.

"Were you gonna?... I mean... it's okay if you were, but..."

"Spit it out, Slayer" he told her.

"Were you gonna kiss me?" she asked.

Spike took a deep breath and nodded. Immediately he studied her face, waiting for her to get that look of disgust. He winced a little, waiting for her response.

"Oh" she responded.

He waited anxiously, he was sure she was about to kick him out. Possibly via the nearest exit of her bedroom window.

"Do you want... I mean you could try again" she told him.

"Buffy I-"

He was cut off by her lips lightly pressing against his. It caught him by surprise but within a few seconds he was kissing her back. The kiss deepened and she rolled on top of him not breaking the kiss.

Spike suddenly pulled away, Buffy sat on top of his hips breathless. "Buffy… I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want to… I *really* do… but"

"But what?" She asked her breathing returning to normal

"I don't want to take advantage" he told her

"Advantage? Who is sitting on top of who here?"

"And it's everything I thought it would be and more but this means something to me and I know it doesn't mean anything to you" he told her

Buffy paused for a moment and then climbed off him and sat at the edge of the bed.

Spike got up and put his boots back on and slid on his coat.

"Where are you going?" Asked Buffy

"I better go see if I can find ol' beastie boy" he told her

Buffy nodded and Spike made his way to the door, he paused for a moment before leaving.

"If you decide that I mean something let me know" he told her before opening the door and leaving.

Buffy wiped a tear from her eye and threw herself back into bed.
