Chapter Eleven - The Fall Of A God

Izuku Midoriya honestly felt like a king. Why might that be? Oh perhaps it was because he was wandering through a vast gala floor in a suit that cost as much as a ferrari with two beautiful women on his arms. It was the one year anniversary of his companies 'official' founding and it just so happened that the date correlated to within a couple weeks of Momo's birthday.

Izuku and her parents had thus conspired in secret to provide her with a surprise gift. A full on Victorian ball! Momo was a diehard Jane Austin fan and the moment Izuku brought her up to an upper balcony and removed the blindfold from her eyes she nearly passed out from the force of her delighted 'Squee'. A moment later Mei had dragged her off to a changing room where her parent's gift, a regal black gown and heels, were waiting along with a stylist to do her hair just right.

The pinkette was already dressed in a similar red number though she'd forgone the chance to do her hair. Mei liked it just the way it was, after all, it was just the right length for her man to get a good handful in their fun time.

As the trio made their grand entrance onto the floor to the accompaniment of the band the room fell into a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday, and Momo hid her red cheeks in the greenette's chest as they made their way onto the floor. All around them the who's who of the country's upper class were meandering around and speaking in huddled groups. This was one of Izuku's goals of making his deal with the Yaoyorozu family after all, to create this introduction to the upper crust of his country; and it was paying off in spades.

While his girls were getting dressed he'd already closed no less than four deals, shook hands on a fifth, and agreed to become a silent partner in three potentially lucrative startups that would be making their way onto the world stage within the next year. It was amazing just how much money changed hands with this crowd every few seconds and the crime lord's mechanical eyes were tracking all of it.

Ah yes, the keen optics had already hacked every cellular device in the room and were presently storing every bit of relevant info from monetary transfers, to secret gossip about who was cheating on who with whom, to whispered strong-arming threats in dark corners. The people here thought they were bigger than life, untouchable, and they weren't even trying to hide their dark practices. Fools. Yes, the blackmail files were getting fatter every minute he spent in this place.

It was fair to say he was in a very good mood as a result of his good fortune, and he couldn't wait to give Momo his second gift later on in the evening. So he was rather surprised when Momo's mother, Karin, came over to them with a smiling Inko Midoriya on her arm (the two had become great friends after meeting and had really bonded over a shared love of cooking), breaking them from their current conversation with the head of Mohatma shipping, and dragged the trio over to a table on the other side of the space where they were met with a sight that had them all standing ramrod straight. Heroes. Top heroes in fact. It seemed the entire staff of UA was present along with most of the other top ten elite of the rankings. Though instead of their super suits they were uncomfortably wearing period accurate tuxedos and dresses and holding crystal flute glasses in their hands. Izuku didn't remember them being included on the guest list though he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised to find them here regardless.

Heroes were the pinnacle of society after all, and where they went media and business followed like vultures; the reverse being the same of course. Genius that he was, he should have seen their presence coming from a mile away, but he'd been too preoccupied with making the night as perfect for his girlfriend as he could.

For a while they just looked at each other and then Karin scoffed and threw her hands up in the air before rounding on her daughter. "Momo, they said they wanted to apologize for how things turned out at UA." As she spoke a small bear-like creature walked up with a thin man in glasses at his side.

"Yes," the bear nodded his agreement and reached out his paw to shake all of their hands. "As Principle of UA I am always sad to see promising applicants turn away from the course of heroism, but it seems to me that you have ended up in a place where you can still do just as much good going forward. If you are happy then so am I, and speaking for my staff we look forward to seeing what you will achieve for the good of humanity going forward. On behalf of UA, happy birthday, and best wishes to you going forward, Ms. Yaoyorozu." Behind him all of the heroes raised their glasses and called, 'Cheers!'.

The trio gamely raised their own glasses of cider in response. It wouldn't do for them to be seen drinking alcohol in this company so they'd elected for the sweeter beverage instead. Though Izuku found his attention quickly grabbed by the other man who hadn't immediately walked back to join his animalistic comrade and the others in their toast. Instead, he was just standing across from him with his hands in his pockets, eyes tracing up and down the entrepreneur's form with an interested look of curiosity.

"Sorry if I don't shake hands." The man said in a flat voice, his keen eyes not leaving those of the greenette. "Germs, you know."

"I do, actually." Izuku grinned sarcastically at the other man. "It's fascinating to meet you, Sir Nighteye. I've followed your career with great interest."

"Oh?"

"Indeed. After all, how many sidekicks could have crawled out of All Might's shadow to create such a respected name for themselves as you have?" He spoke in the same tone as before, and as he'd hoped it finally broke the other man's cool facade.

"All Might is a great man!"

"He's an asshole and we both know it." The younger man gleefully kept his cool as the adult broke his own, a sight that set more than one of the heroes behind him sniggering. "But let's not talk about him here and ruin an otherwise good night. You know, I've been curious about something for a while now." Gently pulling his arm free of Mei's, he reached it out in front of him and held it there. Oh yes, he knew the real reason why this man hadn't shaken hands with him or anyone else at this party yet. Nighteye's quirk was as infamous as its flaw. He could only use it once a day, what he saw wasn't admissible in court as it technically hadn't occurred yet, and he needed both eye contact and physical touch to activate it. "Can you see my future?"

"I hardly think it's appropriate to-"

"Consider it a birthday gift for me." Momo chirped from where she stood leaning happily into Izuku's side. "I must admit to a curiosity of my own." She shared a look with Mei to show that the other girl shouldn't interrupt proceedings, and, after looking around to try for an excuse to extricate himself from the situation and finding none, he at last acquiesced. "For your birthday." He nodded to the birthday girl, took the greenette's hand, and stared intently into his glowing red eyes.

For a few moments that was all he did, but then the rather severely dressed and styled man blinked, quirked his head, and seemed to clench his jaw muscles as he stared deeper. All around them colorfully dressed party-goers continued to waltz, mingle, and enjoy the refreshments, but for their small group all that existed was that continuous gaze. Finally, All Might's former sidekick sighed and leaned back with an expression of pure puzzlement on his face. "I… see nothing. My quirk didn't even activate. How odd."

"Indeed." Izuku refolded his arm through Mei's and offered, "Well you win some and lose some I guess. Enjoy the party, sir."

As the throuple moved off to continue greeting their guests, Nezu came up to the still confused looking Nighteye. "I've never known your quirk to fail, Mirai?"

"Me neither. That's what's so goddamned strange." The severe man's gaze hadn't left the strange titan of industry for a moment since their interaction. "I just can't shake the feeling that I've met that young man before. Also, I've used it on people with amputations and artificial adjustments before without issue. Something about young Midoriya though… it's like he's immune to a set future. It makes no sense…"

The way his associate's voice trailed off caught the bear's attention at once. "You've had a thought?"

"Perhaps. I'm not entirely sure." Nighteye hedged. "I wouldn't like to make a supposition based on incomplete data."

"Well we don't have much else to do here but speculate on things." The Principle joked. "My staff is pretty much shanghaiing the attention of every other guest of note at the moment. I'm curious what you think happened."

Mirai sighed, took a sip of his cider, he never believed himself off the clock and so abstained from alcohol, and explained, "I can think of only three possibilities. Each more odd and improbable than the last. First, the boy could have a regenerative quirk. One powerful enough to basically reinvent his cells fast enough to make his body virtually new in every possible future."

"Izuku Midoriya is well documented as being quirkless." Nezu countered. "He's the most famous quirkless boy in the world."

"I did say these ideas would be improbable. And that reasoning also cancels the idea that he could also have a precognitive quirk working against my own. The second possibility is that I have already read his future once before, which would make him immune to future readings."

"Have you read him before?"

"As I have already mentioned, as far I know this is the first time we've ever interacted." The human countered.

"So what's your third option?"

"It's the most improbable option yet."

Seeing that this was clearly the option that was weighing on his colleague the most, Nezu said, "Try me."

"It could be that he came up in someone else's future and thus I've already experienced it being written."

"I thought you never forget the futures you see?"

"I don't. It's the bane of my quirk. But the thing is, I can only really think of a handful of green haired men I've seen that would fit with Izuku Midoriya, and one of them we both know. We've been investigating its possibilities for months now…."

Meanwhile

"And what was that about?" Mei grumbled playfully. "You risked a lot back there."

"I needed to know if my quirks could protect me from his abilities and those of others like him, and I was right." Izuku defended himself with ease. "Precognitive quirks are perhaps our biggest threat to secrecy and now I know for a fact that my own precognitive ability can cancel out others. I see the future faster and more frequently than others can even perceive it, thus my ability to constantly change my mind blinds others to the choices I might make." The criminal kingpin let out an involuntary laugh before noting, "Heroes like him are blind!"

His mirth was, however, brought to a halt as the surface of his watch began flashing blue. Sharing a look with the others they meandered over to an empty corner of the ballroom and Izuku blinked his eyes three times in rapid succession to open the line for the incoming transmission. "Speak."

Dabi's voice came through loud and clear for his ears alone. "The UA training camp is in sight and the League has sent us in to set off a plan equally dastardly and devious. I don't know how you knew what they'd want us to do but shit's about to get real, real quick."

"Elementary, old friend." Izuku smirked with open satisfaction that his deductions had proven correct once more. "Take your time, as we discussed, and once the packages are delivered fall back to the extraction point. Stain will be waiting to facilitate exfiltration for you and Toga. Moran will have new identities waiting for you as well."

"Understood." Dabi agreed before adding, "And about my price?"

"As we agreed, Stain will assist with your desire once the present situation is dealt with. I'm a man of my word, as you know."

"Yeah, but I had to hear you say it." The fire user agreed. "See you soon."

"I look forward to it." The line went dead and Izuku turned to his girls. "Operation Titanfall is a go."

"Oh drat." Momo stared longingly out to the dance floor. "I was hoping to dance." She nearly jumped in place as she found herself being propelled out onto the floor an instant later.

"Did you think I'd let you miss such fun on your birthday?" Izuku spoke fondly as he spun his girlfriend around and rested his hands on her hips. "We have plenty of time, so let us enjoy it, eh?"

"When did you learn to dance?"

"I've been taking lessons with your mom for the last month so I could surprise you. Do you like your present?"

"I love it!"

And so the two danced an easy waltz, sharing in the closeness between them as their eager eyes tracked the passage of all of the heroes present out of the ballroom. It seemed they'd been notified of an all-hands-on-deck situation. Perfect. As the strings continued to fill the air with music, Izuku leaned his head beside Momo's and asked, "So how did I do?"

"Best boyfriend ever!" Yaoyorozu cheered as her head leaned down to plant a fond kiss on his cheek. "I'm having a great time."

"I'm glad."

"Shouldn't we be heading back to the office to prepare for the operation, though?"

"Naw." Izuku pulled her closer and delighted in the feeling of her generous assets pressed so tightly against him. "I've already alerted our sniper and our assets on the ground have touched base. If everything rolls out the way I've predicted then there is no reason we cannot share a few dances before moving out. This night is for you, so let's celebrate it."

One Hour Later

Izuku pulled his tie free and sat before the monitor in his office. Mei and Momo perched themselves beside him on the edge of his desk so they too could see what was happening. Kaina was perched beside the absolutely massive rifle Mei had designed, but she was using a weapon of her own creation to more freely look between different buildings in the distance, giving them all a feed of what was going on as it happened.

Leaking the location of the League of Villain's hideout had worked just as planned. The full bulk of the key heavy hitters in the hero community had fallen on the decrepit bar like a tsunami, thus leaving the B and C teams behind. Already several of Moriarty's crews were making short work of many of them and altering the flow of hero deployments in the various districts of his country to ensure his wishes would be easier to carry out in the future.

Now, on to what would come next… He blinked in a specific pattern and Kaina dutifully moved her scope across the city to the warehouse that All For One's Nemus were being housed in. If he was right then… there. As his group observed the happenings of the night they saw a warped portal swirl into being outside the warehouse. Out of it stepped a bound Katsuki Bakugo and several members of the League. To the surprise of none of them Dabi and Toga were not amongst their number. No doubt the villains had tried to recruit Bakugo and the fact that he was still in chains was the only thing that surprised the greenette. He'd been sure his former bully would leap at the chance to get into villainy.

All that remained was for the man of the hour to make his appearance. The one hero that could make it to the site of the villainous retreat in time to make a difference. They weren't waiting long. In a crash of displaced earth, All Might suddenly appeared out of the sky and the villains began shivering with fear… until they disappeared through another portal, leaving only the former master of all villainy, All For One, in their place.

Opening a channel to his agent's earpiece, Izuku ordered, "Alright, Lady Nagant, it's time. Get in position."

The view through the monitor transferred to the mounted scope on the dissimilation rifle and the trio held their breath as they viewed what promised to be the biggest one-on-one fight in history break out in the distance. Truly these men were titans amongst insects if even the barest level of their power was to be understood. Every time they clashed craters formed in the street beneath them. Every time a punch was thrown the skyline changed as entire buildings shattered. It was too chaotic to make out any words spoken between the combatants, but Izuku thought he could guess at least a bit of it. The usual snarking comments and bantering of eternal rivals were standard no matter the heights you achieved.

"Alright, Kaina, start the clock and be ready. We need to end this before All Might can sacrifice all of his power, but I leave the exact moment up to you."

"Understood. Going dark." The line went dead and all that remained for the trio was a screen without sound as their sniper rededicated all of her attention and breathing to the fight before her.

Momo broke away from the sight to ask, "That part still confuses me. Wouldn't it be better if All Might did lose all of his power tonight? Then he couldn't stand against you if your identity was ever revealed."

Izuku nodded behind his steepled fingers. "I had the same thought early on during the planning phase of this operation, but I came to the conclusion that it was better he stay the devil I know until his successor is strong enough to stand in his place. I may not like it, but I can't deny that a symbol of peace is incredibly important for our nation and the world. People need symbols to look up to, even if they aren't always as virtuous as they are supposed to be, and if I must be the knight standing vigilant in the darkness, they will need a pillar standing tall in the light to look to when times get hard."

Taking up the tail end of his explanation, Mei added, "It isn't yet time to destroy all faith in the hero system. Unless the proper framework to replace it is already in effect when it all comes crashing down then we'll face mass rioting and panic."

"And I despise disorderly chaos." Izuku finished.

"Hm." Momo nodded her understanding, though her gaze never once left the fight. Things were getting even more frenetic if that was possible. All Might's form was starting to grow noticeably thinner, but his decrepit permanent state had yet to be revealed so his general image was still maintained.

"Any moment now." Izuku breathed through his teeth. "All we need is All For One to focus every bit of his attention into an all-or-nothing blow so he won't even be thinking about defense and then… Now!" His prediction proved correct as the monitor image jilted from the force of the cannon firing under Kaina's ministrations. All For One had boosted his right arm into a blow eight times the size of all the others, and All Might had boosted himself up for a United States Of Smash; yet before either blow could land to dissipate their power All For One's free hand slapped up at his neck as if he'd been bitten by a fly, and then his body just… exploded.

At once All Might pulled the power he'd been about to use back into himself and he and the rest of the world stared on in utter shock as one of the greatest pillars of villainy in the history of mankind simply just ceased to exist.

"Did that… actually happen?" Mei breathed.

Izuku raised a brow. "You doubt the quality of your own work?"

"Well, no, but… planning something out on paper and perceiving its likely outcome as figures and shapes in your mind is one thing, but actually seeing it happen…" She trailed off for a moment before knocking the monitor off the desk, pushing Izuku's chair back, and hopping into his lap. "I want you right now!"

Blushing hard enough to turn her whole face scarlet, Momo raised a hand, "C-Can I join in this time?"

Elsewhere

Endeavor was racing through the streets of Tokyo in a blind fury. Of all the times for All For One to finally show his face again it was now?! Well he couldn't let All Might be the one that beat him this time. No, Endeavor finally had the chance to show his quality as the real number one hero and he had to seize it! The sky was too full of news choppers for him to risk hurtling through the air in his usual fashion so the pro-hero had elected to go barreling over the interstates in pursuit of the greatest clash in living memory.

He was only a few miles away, by his estimation, when something hit his body from the side with the strength of a battering ram. The last thing he saw before tumbling into a nearby alley was blue flames. Odd, he didn't have any villains with quirks that created blue flames.

Relying on years of battle experience he rolled back to his feet before his momentum had even finished carrying him and came up facing the entrance he'd passed through with a fist cocked and hell-flame ready to impart physical napalm on whatever fool had dared to halt him on so fortuitous a night. He was brought up short by the last face he expected to see. "Shoto?"

So distracted was the man by so strange a presence that he failed to notice the shadow rapidly falling on him until it was too late. Then he felt a slice cut impossibly through the reinforced fireproof weave of his jumpsuit sleeve and all ability to move left him. His eyes, locked forward, took in the sight of his son's skin… melting? Indeed where once his pride and joy had been standing was a naked teenage girl instead, giggling sadistically behind her hand. He couldn't even scream his rage that someone had imitated the genes he'd worked so hard to perfect.

Behind him a gruff voice said, "Remind me again to thank my mechanic for this blade. It cut through that suit like butter."

"Will do." The next voice sounded raspy, as if its wielder had been smoking eight packs a day for years. "How long do I have?"

"Varies from person to person." The other voice answered. "For someone as strong as him, though, give it about ten minutes."

"I won't need more than five." Dabi approached Endeavor from the rear, placed his hands on his back, and engulfed them in azure flame as he whispered in the man's ear, "Guess who, dad?"

Two Weeks Later

Izuku watched the man sitting across from him with a carefully blank expression. "So, you were All For One's personal physician?"

The spectacled man nodded and wiped a bit of sweat free of his head. "Indeed. You see, he left specific instructions for what he wanted done in the event of his sudden demise." The man glanced nervously between the other occupants of the room and wiped the perspiration from his head before pulling a purple gem free of his pocket and setting it on the desk before him. "I'm supposed to give you this."

"Hm…" Izuku picked the item up and handed it to Mei. He had an idea of what it was but he wanted her analysis before making any concrete decisions about it. "So I take it you don't believe the media's story then? That All Might killed All For One?"

"Hardly." The doctor scoffed, his nervousness seemingly forgotten in the face of his old master's potential disgrace. "The Master was very clear that if he died in this conflict then you were likely responsible and thus the only possibly worthy successor to his cause." Doctor Garaki rose from his chair and knelt before the desk. "In his name I offer my service and that of the countless Nomu I have created. All of it will be yours to do with as you see fit."

"Who else knows about these Nomu?"

"No one, sir. All For One was very strict about secrecy."

Izuku's only answer after that was the raising of one finger on his armrest and then the doctor's head was rolling on the floor. Seeing the questioning looks of the others he said, "We cannot trust gifts brought to us in bad faith. Also, those Nomu are crimes against nature. Unthinking weapons capable of leveling entire cities on their own. If their ownership can be transferred so easily then it is better they stay buried. Toga, why don't you clean this up and the rest of us can start planning our next move."

"Yay!" The blonde pranced over to the corpse and began dragging it to her room. Oh yes, she had so many fun plans for all of his delightful blood.
