Chapter 3: Bar Showdown

Leaves crunched under black boots as a girl in a red-hooded cape walked through lush green woods under the beaming sun. Her journey was quiet, with the only noise being made bing the ambiance of the forest around her, as the wind rustled the leaves and grass, and critters skittered around the woods making soft little critters. The hooded girl's walk finally came to a halt as she reached the edge of a cliffside, where a gravestone lay.

She shivered at the chilling breeze, stepping forward and crouching before the grave. She pulled her hood back, revealing a young girl with messy black hair with red tips and a pale heart-shaped face with vibrant silver eyes. The girl smiled sadly as she eyed the words etched onto the gravestone.

Ruby sighed. "Hey, Mom." she paused, as though waiting for a response. Even if she knew that in her heart, she'd never get one. "I'm sorry that I haven't come to visit, lately... a lot has been happening, recently."

"I've gotten better at handling Crescent Rose! Uncle Qrow says I'm a natural. I know I'm still nowhere close to his level, but I'll get there eventually!"

...

"... Yang's gonna be going to Beacon soon." Ruby pursed her lips. "And I'm happy for her! Really! Just... we've always been together, you know? Sadly, she'll be leaving soon. Then I'll be alone."

Ruby bit the inside of her cheek and giggled sheepishly. "That's kind of silly when I say it out loud... right? Of course, I won't be alone! I'll still have Dad, Zwei, and Uncle Qrow! And it's not like Yang will be gone forever. She'll come back on the holidays."

Grinning with a bit more pep, Ruby pumped her fists. "And I'll be training extra hard so that I can get into Beacon with her in the next two years, just you wait! I'm gonna be a hero... just like you."

"Ruby!"

Ruby perked up at her sister's voice, turning around to see Yang standing nearby on her motorbike. The blonde waved at her and Ruby beamed, standing up and looking back at the gravestone. "That's Yang. We're supposed to be heading out into Vale today... so I've gotta go! It was nice talking to you, Mom! I'll be back soon!"

She scurried over to Yang and hopped onto the backseat of her bike. Yang offered Ruby a black-and-red helmet, smiling. "Talking to Mom, again?"

"Yep!" Ruby fastened the helmet onto her head. "We had a good talk."

"That's good," Yang smiled thinly, sparing the grave a glance before revving up Bumblebee's engines. "I'll pay her a visit once we get back."

"Maybe we can pick up some flowers at Vale!"

"Heh, not a bad idea, Rubes!"

"So... what exactly are we doing?"

"I told you already. We're visiting a fr... s-someone I know."

"Okay... who are they?"

Blake sighed as Saru followed behind her at a sluggish pace. The monkey Faunus continued asking her incessant questions ever since they left the motel. She didn't think someone could talk as much as Saru, but she was sorely mistaken. Really, what was up with him? Couldn't he keep his mouth shut for one second? They were beginning to draw attention. Fast. Blake groaned, rubbing at the bags under her eyes with a soft glower as the boy behind her continued to ramble.

"Blake? Blake? You listening to me?" Saru poked his head over her shoulder, squinting at her with a pout.

Blake sighed, shooting Saru a dull expression. "Yes?"

She had to be polite... after all, he was some scary monkey alien God thing with absurd power. And was also magic. She didn't want to get on his bad side. Keep it cool, Blake... keep it cool. She told herself to keep calm.

"I asked what are we going to do AFTER we meet up with this friend of yours?" Saru tilted his head. "Also I'm hungry."

Blake lolled her head back and inhaled through her nose, closing her eyes and sighing. "... well you don't have any identification. You can't do much without an ID. Get a job, move through the borders between kingdoms, buy your place, you need an ID along with the money to do that." Blake frowned. "I'm hoping that he can help us get you one..."

"And then?"

"... well, I was..." Blake bit her lip, pausing. "... I was planning on applying for Beacon Academy. It's a school that trains huntsman and huntresses. They are warriors who protect humanity against the Grimm. Those creatures we fought yesterday."

She took a peek at Saru and noted he was listening intently. Quietly, to boot. Blake almost sighed in relief. "There, I can train to become a huntress, and then... maybe then I could finally begin making a difference."

Saru folded his arms behind his head, arching a brow. "Make a difference how?"

Blake paused, her lips peeling back into a thin line. "The Faunus have been an oppressed race for hundreds of years. Treated differently by humans because of our differing appearances. They look at us and treat us like monsters - the working conditions for Faunus are more strict compared to humans. In most places, we aren't even allowed into certain stores."

She glanced across the street, her eyes narrowing sharply. Saru followed her gaze and blinked languidly as a frown worked its way into his face. A café was situated across the street, a sign plastered on the ceiling had 'NO ANIMALS ALLOWED' written in bold, with the silhouette of a dog drawn underneath. One normally wouldn't have bat an eye at such a thing. But it was the implied meaning behind those words.

A Faunus man was escorted out of the building not a second after by the staff, screaming and hollering in protest. Blake averted her gaze with a frown while Saru's expression was dark. "Even though Vale is one of the few kingdoms lenient on Faunus, there are still those that treat us lesser than dirt. If I can become a huntress, a well-respected and famous one, I can change how people view Faunus. I can show that humans and Faunus can live in harmony, and not fear and subjugation."

Saru cocked his head to the side, humming. "... I can respect that goal. My question is, how you gonna get that point across with that on your head?" he pointed to the newly bought bow fastened onto her head.

Blake grimaced, crossing her arms and glancing off to the side. "I want people to see me for who I truly am, and not as some Faunus. This is only temporary."

"I get that... but you shouldn't have to hide who you are. If you want to make a difference, you should attend Beacon as a Faunus. Not some human in disguise." Saru countered. "And what if your bow comes undone unexpectedly? There goes your secret. Seems like a lot of trouble if you ask me."

Blake frowned at him, perplexed. The monkey boy acted like a complete and total goofball one minute, and then acted mature and wise the next. He was a complete enigma to her. She couldn't understand him... then again, she couldn't understand him period, considering his... origins.

Blake sighed. "... I'll take it off eventually. I just don't want to face prejudice for a majority of my term."

"Alright. It's your decision." Saru crossed his arms and shrugged. "And that leaves me..."

"I was thinking... you could go with me." Blake hesitated as the boy perked up, twirling her hair around her finger. "You already said that you were going to stick with me. So this seems like the next logical step. You could learn a lot about our world this way, as well. So it all checks out..."

"That's why I need to get you an ID. It isn't necessarily an issue. Many people from outside Vale's borders don't have kingdom identification. But it will make things easier for us in the long run. We don't want to draw suspicion, considering you don't exactly exist in any database..." Blake paused, huffing as his brows furrowed. "... I guess it also wouldn't be so bad having someone I know attend the academy with me."

"Gonna be honest, most of the stuff you just said flew WAY over my head!" Saru beamed, throwing an arm around Blake's shoulder and yanking her into a side hug. "But don't you worry your pretty little head, Blakey! I know one thing. You need a friend! And that's a service I'm willing to provide."

Blake blinked owlishly and huffed softly, pushing Saru away and rolling her eyes. "I wouldn't go that far."

"You can deny it... but in your heart, you know it to be true~"

Blake's brow twitched. "We've only known each other for a day, and the first couple of things you said to me was calling me a toothpick and commenting on my ass and chest."

Saru laughed sheepishly. "Okay. That's my bad, sorry." he pointed at her with squinted eyes. "BUT! The first thing you did when I got here was punch me square in the face!"

Blake blushed in embarrassment. "It was an accident! You came out of nowhere and startled me!"

"It still hurt."

"I said I was sorry..."

Saru turned smug, crossing his arms behind his back and leaning forward. "It's okay. I forgive you~"

Blake rolled her eyes again, shaking her head as a small smile slowly began to form. "You're impossible." she looked up ahead and perked up. "We're here."

The store in front of them was a modest one, built of fine mahogany wood and solid brick. Clean reinforced glass and a large sign with the words 'Tukson's Book Trade' plastered in bold for all the world to see. Saru blinked obliviously. "A bookstore?"

"Yeah." Blake pushed the door open, her ears twitching under her bow at the sound of bell chimes. Saru followed behind her as she walked inside. "The person I want to meet with owns it. He told me I could find him here in case I was ever in a... tight spot."

Saru hummed. "Sounds more like a friend than an 'associate'," he remarked, eyeing Blake curiously.

Blake sighed. "... family friend might be a more accurate term."

A large muscular man in a burgundy jacket walked out of the backroom, with clean-cut black hair and noticeable sideburns. "Welcome to Tukson's Book Trade. We have every book under the sun. What can I-" the man blinked in surprise upon spotting Blake. "Blake?"

"Tukson," Blake waved with a small smile. "Is this a bad time?"

"No, no, not at all... I'm just surprised." Tukson shook his head with a smile, beckoning her forward. "If you're here... I can only assume you left."

Blake paused, taking in a deep breath and gathering her wits. "... Yeah. I did."

Tukson frowned softly and rested a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Mm. I knew it was a matter of time, but..." he paused, standing up straighter as he shifted his gaze over to Saru, who had drifted off to the store and was inspecting the comic books in stock. "Who's that? An associate from the Fang?"

"No. He's... someone that I met shortly after I left." Blake corrected. "That's actually why we're here. I need your help with something."

"Of course!" Tukson nodded, crossing his arms. "Your parents have done a lot for me. It's the least I can do."

"Yeah..." Blake winced before sighing. "I was hoping you'd be able to help me secure an ID alongside some records for Saru. The thing is... he's sort of non-existent in... any kingdom database."

Tukson blinked owlishly, his brows furrowing. "How is that possible?"

"It's a long story. And very hard to believe, so I'll do you a favor and save you the migraine." Blake dryly commented, shooting an unassuming Saru an exasperated glance. "But can you do it?"

"... Getting an ID is easy enough. Falsifying records? That's an entirely different ballpark. You're telling me this kid has absolutely no registration or record in any kingdom? I don't have the money nor resources to pull that kind of thing off." Tukson said regretfully, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, Blake."

Blake sighed. "It's fine. A bit too much wishful thinking, I guess..."

Tukson paused, eyeing Blake silently before scratching his stubble. "... Now. I may not be able to help you in that regard, but I may know of someone who can get you an ID and falsified records in one fell swoop." he frowned. "You'll likely have to get your hands dirty, though."

Blake blinked, staring at Tukson silently and sighing. "What I was asking of you was likely going to be illegal anyway. It shouldn't be as bad as what I've done before. So I'll do it."

Tukson hummed. "You're going an awful bit far for a boy you just met." he was giving her a look that Blake often associated with her mother.

She was quick to shoot down any assumptions. "It's not like that at all. I just... can't leave him out of my sight." she glanced off to the side. "Far too dangerous to leave alone."

"Right... of course." Blake's brow twitched at Tukson's tone. The man laughed and shook his head. "Now, I don't know the guy personally, but there's been word on the street of an information broker in town. Somewhere in Hoster Street. Goes by Hei Xiong. He might be able to hook you up if you bring a pretty good sales pitch."

Blake cupped her chin. "Hei Xiong..." she nodded, giving Tukson a thankful smile. "Okay. Thank you, Tukson."

"Of course." Tukson smiled back, reaching out from under his counter and sliding a book in front of her. The man winked and smirked. "Don't be a stranger, now. Perhaps we can catch up sometime?"

Blake blinked and gasped, her bow perking up at the book in front of her. 'The recent issue of Ninjas of Love!' she squeaked, snatching the book into her arms and nodding fervently. "That sounds nice. T-Thank you! And... stay safe. When I was with the Fang, they were looking into hunting you down."

Tukson nodded, frowning. "Thanks for the heads up."

Blake nodded back and spun on her heel, walking out of the store. "Saru! Let's go."

Saru yelped, snapping the comic in his hands shut and putting it back on the shelf before following after her. "Got what we need?"

"Close. We're going to need to make another pit stop."

"Cool..." Saru's stomach growled loudly and he groaned, clutching his sides and grinning sheepishly. "Can we go get a bite to eat first...?"

Blake sighed.

X-X-X-X-X-X

I let out a soft sigh of bliss as I bit into the warm, crunchy texture of cinnamon apple pie. Me and Blake stopped by a bakery after leaving Tukson's Book Trade. The entire ordeal was interesting, to say the least. I've read fanfiction where Tukson and Blake knew of each other during their time in the White Fang, but that was all fanon stuff. Was interesting to see it play out like that here in person... considering they never interacted at all in the actual show.

Now we were heading for Junior's. That would be interesting. Hopefully, it'd go off without a hitch.

*CAAAW!!

I perked up, looking up as a raven soared overhead and perched itself on a nearby lamppost. I paused in my steps and stared long and hard, activating my ki sense and locking onto the energy of the bird. A fiery red aura encompassed it like a raging bonfire. The raven's crimson eyes locked with mine, and I smirked at it.

Why hello there, Raven.

If she's here...

"Saru!"

I deactivated my ki sense and walked over to Blake, looking around and spotting a yellow motorcycle nearby. Yep, that confirms it. Yang's here... "We're about to deal with criminals, so just leave all the talking to me."

I shot Blake a look. "You make me sound like some incompetent kid."

Blake squinted. "Well, you haven't given me much of a reason to trust you with this kind of stuff." she rolled her eyes. "And what are the odds we're going to need you to brute force our way out of this problem?"

*CRAAAAASH!!!

A man in a black suit got sent flying out the window just as she uttered the words. He groaned weakly in pain before slumping onto the ground. Blake's eye twitched as I shot her a smug look. "What was that you were saying before?"

"Shut up."

I chuckled, patting Blake on the head and ignoring her venomous glower as I walked into the bar. "Leave this to me, okay?"

"Saru, wait-!"

My eyes quickly adjusted to flashing lights and thunderous explosions. Men and women alike were sent flying across the establishment, courtesy of Yang Xiao Long. The hotheaded blonde was currently engaged in combat with the Malachite Twins. Blake followed behind me and let out a squawk of shock as she looked at the destruction around her. "What the hell happened?!"

"You can thank Goldilocks for that." I jabbed a thumb over to the fight. "Not our problem, though... yet."

"What do you mean by THAT?!"

Ignoring Blake, I walked over to the bar counter and called out to the man cowering behind it. "YO! Are you Hei Xiong?!"

"Whatever you want, now isn't the time!" Xiong barked fearfully as shrapnel flew his way. The man yelped, ducking further under the counter. "Go away unless you wanna get clobbered too!"

I hopped over the counter and crouched in front of the man, grinning sharply and grabbing him by the collar. "Not doing any of that. I'll tell it to 'ya straight. I need an ID and some falsified records. And word on the street is you've got the resources to make that happen. Hook me up and I'll take care of your little 'problem'."

Xiong stared at me, his glasses going slack. The man then scowled at me. "Listen, kid, I don't know who you are but I don't have time for your games-"

I glared at him, calling upon my ki and exerting it into a dense pressure that had an instantaneous effect on Xiong. His breath hitched and he locked up, looking at me with eyes full of fear and trepidation. I lessened my killing intent and relaxed my expression. Xiong broke out into a cold sweat and let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

"... You're serious."

"Yep."

Xiong eyed me cautiously. "If you can take care of the blonde... I'll see what I can do."

I grinned. "Great! And don't back out. Trust me. It won't end well for you." I hopped up to my feet and flipped over the counter, walking over to Blake. "Good news! I'm getting my ID!"

Blake blinked at me in shock and adopted a wary expression. "And the bad news...?"

I watched as Yang sent Melanie and Militia flying. The sisters crashed into a heap in front of us. Yang popped her knuckles with a grin, her eyes fixing on us like some sort of feral predator. Blake cringed as I smirked and began walking forward. "I gotta kick Goldielock's ass to get it."

"Wait, she's likely a huntress-in-training! This isn't like fighting Grimm!"

I rolled my shoulders. "Yeah? So?"

Blake continued to fret. "That means she's a competent fighter! I know you're strong, but..."

"Blake. Did you forget already?" I shot her a reassuring grin. "I'm a King. I won't lose."

Blake clamped up, breaking out into a nervous grimace and sighing in exasperation. "If it gets out of hand, I'll step in."

"That won't be necessary."

"Cocky guy, aren'tcha?" Yang barked out, cocking her head to the side. "I'll admit, you look stronger than the toothpicks from earlier..."

The twins groaned. "Fuck you..."

Yang snickered, peeking over my shoulder and eyeing Blake. "Your friend joining in on this?"

"Nope. Just me." I summoned Ruyi Jingu Bang and rested it on my shoulder, smirking and beckoning Yang to come at me with a finger. "Let's go, Firecracker. Junior owes me a favor if I wipe the floor with 'ya!"

Yang's grin became strained and her brow twitched. Likely due to how dismissive I was of her. Ember Celica clicked as she unloaded the empty rounds and refilled them with new ones. "You're gonna regret this, Monkey Boy."

"Monkey Boy?" I scoffed, bending my knees. "I'm the Monkey King."

I blasted off with no prior warning, closing the distance between myself and Yang in seconds and thrusting my staff forward. Yang bent backward with help, her eyes widening as the weapon sailed past her face. Her eyes sharpened and she dropped to the floor, twisting her body and swinging her legs outwards to sweep me off my feet.

I jumped over her, digging Jingu Bang into the floor and using it as a perch. My momentum reached its peak and I swung myself at Yang, diving at her with a dropkick and sending the blonde tumbling across the ground. Yang rolled to her feet with a growl and clenched her fists, throwing five consecutive jabs and firing off several shotgun rounds.

I twirled my staff to deflect them with ease. Yang aimed her arms back and triggered Ember Celica, using the intense recoil to rocket herself through the air and right toward me. She brought her leg down into a downward axe-kick and I held up Jingu Bang to block the attack. My knees bent under the impact, as a strained grin stretched across my face.

"Not... BAD!" I grunted, reinforcing my muscles with ki and shoving her back. As Yang flipped onto her feet, she instinctively raised her arms to block as I hurled Jingu Bang forward, willing it to extend as it slammed into her with the speed of a moving vehicle. "But I'm chock full of surprises!"

Yang grunted as she was pushed back, digging her feet into the floor as her back crashed through the counter. "Pretty nifty Semblance you... got...!" her eyes widened as I appeared at her side in an instant, kicking her side and sending her flying through the air. I grabbed Jingu Bang and swung it. The staff sang through the air and slammed into Yang again, throwing her into the DJ booth with a violent crash! "GAH!!"

I stepped back to catch my breath, retracting my staff. Wukong's instincts and muscle memory were carrying me through this... if I were anyone else I'd be screwed. I'll make all his power and skill my own soon enough. But for now, I'll let this cruise me by.

*FWOOOOOSH!!!

My eyes narrowed as I felt Yang's ki suddenly skyrocket. A pound of explosive flames destroyed the booth in its entirety and Yang came flying out with a raging roar. I swerved to the right as she blurred into view with an explosive punch. The ground ruptured under the impact as her shotgun rounds kicked up shrapnel and debris. I deflected it with Jingu Bang and partied another punch from the blonde.

My muscles ached under the force of her punches. I knew if I didn't do something quick I'd be in for a world of hurt. Flooding my muscles with ki to reinforce them, I stabbed Jingu Bang into the ground and extended it, shooting myself into the air and out of her furious flurry of punches.

"GET BACK HERE!" I heard her scream as I clung to the ceiling boards. Shit, dude. Did I clip her hair or something?!

'Whatever. Never tried this before, but there's no time like the present!' I held out one of my hands and concentrated my ki into it, feeling sweat roll down my brow as Yang cocked her fists back and launched several rounds at me. Condensing the ki and shaping it, I thrust my hand out and let it loose, unleashing a powerful blast of concentrated energy that tore through the explosive rounds like wet tissue paper and collided with Yang in a thunderous explosion.

The entire establishment quaked under the intense shockwaves generated by the blast as I dropped to the floor, breathing heavily and retracting Jingu Bang. I chuckled tiredly and sighed. "That... should do it-"

"I ain't... DONE!" my eyes widened in horror as Yang burst through the smoke cloud, her clothes torn and burnt in several places, but she was brimming with energy. Staring into her eyes, I couldn't even see her pupils. Clouded by a deep red, I moved to block or dodge as she screamed and threw a fist forward. It stopped right in front of my face as a black ribbon wrapped around her wrist and grew taut. Her sudden halt in momentum threw the blonde for a loop, snapping her out of her rage. "Huh?!"

My gaze snapped over to Blake, who was struggling to hold Yang back as she dug her feet into the floorboards. "Any... time now...!"

I gripped Jingu Bang shakily and snapped it forward, cracking a stunned Yang in the jaw and following up with a swift roundhouse kick to the skull. As she staggered and lost her footing, Blake gripped onto her ribbon and tugged, letting out a harsh scream of effort as she swung Yang off the ground and hurled her through a window.

I laughed tiredly, groaning. "Looks like I needed your help after all..."

Blake jogged up to me and helped me to my feet. "I told you. Completely different from fighting a Grimm."

"Yeah..." ain't that the truth? I was going into this fight cocky. I had the power of Wukong in me. The Great Sage Equal to Heaven. I thought this fight would be a breeze, but it was anything but. As soon as Yanh unleashed her Semblance, I quickly lost my edge in that fight.

I had a long way to go... and I wasn't going to underestimate someone like that again. I nearly lost. And it wasn't a clean victory either. I needed assistance. That won't stand.

I needed to get stronger. "Saru?"

"Huh?" I blinked, turning to Blake and looking into her eyes. Her expression wasn't quite what I'd label as concern... and more like hesitance. She took a cautious step back but remained at arm's length. "What?"

"... You looked angry," Blake muttered, her brows creasing.

I blinked again. Did I? Shit...

"Holy crap..." we turned, seeing Xiong poke his head out from under the counter. He stared at us in shock. "You really did kick her ass."

I smirked. Or tried to. Came out more as a grimace. "Yep! So about that ID and records... when can you get it done?"

Xiong blinked, looking around his destroyed establishment before coughing into his fist. "... Should take a week. I know a guy. Expert on this kind of stuff. Most of my expenses are going to be going into fixing this place up, so it may not be the most top quality..."

I glanced at Blake. She frowned in thought. "Beacon initiation is in two weeks. We still need to pass the entrance exams. More than enough time to qualify..."

I nodded. "I only need the bare essentials. Nothing too fancy."

Xiong scratched his chin, slowly nodding. "Alright... it'll be done. Stop by next week and it'll be ready for you."

"Got it." I sighed, rolling my shoulders and dismissing Jingu Bang in a flash of light before nudging Blake with my elbow. "Let's get outta here before the pigs show up."

Blake raised a brow and let out a soft chuckle. "That's one way to describe the cops."

I grinned at her. "I know, right? I just have a way with words~"

"Sure. Let's go with that."

X-X-X-X-X-X

A few hours later... Island of Patch, Vale.

"Really, Yang? Picking fights in bars? What were you even DOING in a bar? And to top it all off, you left your sister alone in the city! Who knows what could have happened if a huntress hadn't shown up! She could have been seriously hurt."

Ruby whined. "Dad... I'm not a kid. And it worked out! I got into Beacon early with Yang! Headmaster Ozpin was really impressed with my skills. This is my chance to help people!"

Taiyang sighed, pinching his brow. "Ruby, sweetie, I know you mean well, but that doesn't mean you go out of your way to fight seasoned crime lords."

Ruby shrunk into her seat, looking meek. "... Sorry."

"And Yang."

Yang glared out the window of their tow truck, huffing. "What?"

Taiyang glowered at his daughter. "You know what? Have you not been listening? What were you thinking?!"

"It wasn't supposed to end up that way, okay?!" Yang snapped at her father, her eyes flashing red. The man reeled back in shock. "I just wanted to get more answers, because you and Uncle Qrow won't GIVE ME SHIT!"

"Yang..."

Yang flinched, peering over her seat and looking into the back to see Ruby staring at her with wide, worried eyes. Yang's eyes reverted to normal and a disgusting knot dug its way into her stomach. She slumped against her seat and leaned her head against the window seal. "... I'm sorry, Dad. I didn't... I didn't mean to yell or curse at you."

"... I get it." Taiyang sighed, staring at the road ahead with a somber expression. "I know it's frustrating. Not knowing anything. But until you're truly ready, I can't - I won't tell you anything. It's for your good, Yang."

Yang's expression darkened. "... and when will I be ready?"

...

"I don't know. Maybe when you arrive at Beacon, you'll finally know."

Yang paused, glancing at her dad and frowning, crossing her arms and sighing harshly. She smiled weakly. "Guess so. At the very least I'll have my little sis with me, eh?"

Ruby perked up, beaming. "Yeah! We'll kick tons of butt together!"

Yang grinned slightly. "Totally..." she grumbled. "Wish I could kick those punks' butts before I left, though."

Taiyang caught what his daughter muttered, arching a brow. "What punks?"

"Some guy and a girl. One was a monkey Faunus with this weird Semblance that let him summon a stick that could grow." Yang huffed. "He was tough. But he wasn't anything special. As soon as I pulled my Semblance out, I had him on the ropes. If it wasn't for the chick with the ribbon I would have clobbered 'em!"

Taiyang frowned, tapping the steering wheel with his finger. 'Stick that can grow...?' he blinked. 'It couldn't be... could it?'

Yang clenched her fists, glaring out the window with a determined look in her eyes. 'The next time I see that guy... it's on sight. Nobody destroys my bike and gets away with it.'

"Next time, I'm gonna win... Monkey King."

A/N.

Yo-ho~

Haven't updated this story in a while. Truthfully my interest waned when I tried to figure out a general outline on how I wanted this story to go. I was dry on ideas, so I decided to shelve it until I thought up something good!

A surprise review for this story spurred me to action, and the next thing I knew, I was writing! So I gotta thank Daku Shirosaki for the spark of motivation.

I'm trying to get a solid foundation going for my stories. At least two chapters per month bare minimum, but it honestly depends on the time I have and if I don't hit a writing block.

Hope you guys enjoyed! See you next time.
